< Jeremiah 31 >
1 Yahweh says that at that time, he will be the God [who is worshiped by] all the clans in Israel, and they will be his people.
“Nan lè sa a”, deklare SENYÈ a: “Mwen va vin Bondye a tout fanmi Israël yo, e yo va vin pèp Mwen.”
2 This is what Yahweh says: “Those [people] who remained alive and were not killed by [their enemies’] swords were blessed [by me even] in the desert; I enabled them to have peace.
Konsa pale SENYÈ a: “Pèp ki te chape de nepe a, te jwenn gras nan dezè a— Israël la menm, lè M te bay li repo li.”
3 Long ago [I, ] Yahweh, said to [your ancestors, ] the Israeli people, ‘I have loved you and I will continue to love you forever. By faithfully loving you, I have brought you close to myself.’
SENYÈ a te parèt a li menm soti lwen epi te di: “Wi, Mwen te renmen ou ak yon lanmou ki p ap janm fini. Konsa, Mwen te atire ou ak lanmou dous.
4 And [now I tell you], my Israeli people whom I love [MET], that I will cause you to be a nation again. You will [joyfully] dance as you play your tambourines.
Yon lòt fwa ankò, Mwen va bati ou, e ou va vin rebati, O vyèj Israël la! Yon lòt fwa, ou va reprann tanbouren ou yo. Ou va vin parèt nan dans a sila k ap fete yo.
5 Again you will plant your vineyards on the hills of Samaria, and you will eat the grapes [that grow there].
Yon lòt fwa, ou va plante chan rezen yo sou kolin Samarie yo. Plantè yo va plante e yo va kontan ak fwi li.
6 There will be a time when watchmen will call out from the hills of Samaria [MTY], ‘Come, let’s go up to Jerusalem to [worship] Yahweh, our God!'”
Paske jou a va rive lè gadyen sou kolin Éphraïm yo va kriye fò: ‘Annou leve! Annou monte Sion, kote SENYÈ a, Bondye nou an.’”
7 And now Yahweh also says this: “Sing joyfully about [what I have done for] the people of Israel! Shout about [your nation, ] the greatest nation! Shout joyfully, praising me and saying, ‘Yahweh, rescue your people, the ones who are still alive!’
Paske konsa pale SENYÈ a: “Chante anlè ak kè kontan pou Jacob, e kriye fò pami chèf nasyon yo. Pwoklame, bay lwanj epi di: ‘O SENYÈ sove pèp Ou a, retay Israël la!’
8 Do that [because] I will bring them back from the northeast, from the most distant places on the earth. Among them will be blind people and lame people, women who are pregnant and women who are (having labor pains/about to give birth to babies). They will be a huge group of people!
Gade byen, Mwen ap mennen yo sòti nan peyi nò a, e Mwen va ranmase yo soti nan pati pi lwen latè a. Pami yo, avèg ak bwate yo, fanm lan ak pitit li, ak sila ki gen doulè tranche ansanm. Yon gran konpanyen, yo va retounen isit la.
9 They will be crying as they return, and they will be praying [to me]. I will guide them along streams of water, on level paths where they will not stumble. [I will do this] because I am [like] a father to the Israeli people; [it is as though] Israel is my oldest son.”
Ak dlo nan zye, yo va vini. Ak siplikasyon, Mwen va mennen yo; Mwen va fè yo mache akote sous dlo yo, sou yon chemen dwat kote yo p ap tonbe a; paske Mwen se yon Papa pou Israël. Éphraïm se premye ne Mwen.”
10 Yahweh says, “[You people in the] nations of the world, listen to this message from me. Then proclaim it to [people who live along] the coasts far away. I scattered my people, but I will gather them [again] and will take care of them like [SIM] a shepherd takes care of his sheep.
“Tande pawòl SENYÈ a, O nasyon yo! E deklare nan peyi kot byen lwen yo, epi di: ‘Sila ki te gaye Israël la, va ranmase li, e kenbe li kon yon bèje k ap gade bann mouton li.’
11 I will buy [my] Israeli people back from those who [conquered them because] they were more powerful [than my people].
Paske SENYÈ a te rachte Jacob. Li te rachte l soti nan men a sila ki te pi fò pase l.
12 My people will return [to Jerusalem] and shout joyfully on the slopes of Zion Hill. They will rejoice about the things that I have abundantly given to them— grain and new wine and [olive] oil and young sheep and cattle. They themselves will be like a well-watered garden, and they will no longer be sad.
Yo va vin kriye fò ak lajwa sou wotè a Sion yo, e yo va gen kè kontan nèt sou bonte SENYÈ a, sou sereyal ak diven tounèf, ak lwil e sou jenn a bann mouton an ak twoupo a. Nanm yo va tankou yon jaden wouze. Yo p ap janm soufri tristès ankò.
13 The young women will dance joyfully, and [all] the men, young ones and old ones, will join with them. I will cause them to rejoice instead of mourning; I will comfort them and cause them to be happy instead of being sad.
Epi vyèj la va rejwi nan dans lan, ansanm ak jennonm yo ak ansyen yo; paske Mwen va fè tristès yo vin tounen lajwa. Mwen va rekonfòte yo, e bay yo kè kontan pou ranplase tristès yo.
14 The priests will have plenty of things to eat and drink, and [all] my people will be filled with the good things that I give them. [That will certainly happen because I], Yahweh, have said it!”
Mwen va ranpli nanm a prèt yo ak abondans, e pèp Mwen an va satisfè ak bonte Mwen,” deklare SENYÈ a.
15 Yahweh [also] says this: “Women were weeping in Ramah [town on the border between Israel and Judah]; they were mourning and crying very loudly. [The women who were the descendants of Ephraim and Manasseh, the two grandsons of] Rachel [the wife of Jacob], were weeping about their children, and no one could comfort them because their children were [all] dead.
Konsa pale SENYÈ a, “Yon vwa vin tande nan Rama, lamantasyon yo ak gwo kriye dlo k ap sòti nan zye yo. Rachel ap kriye pou pitit li yo. Li refize rekonfòte pou pitit li yo, akoz yo pa la ankò.”
16 [But now] this is what [I], Yahweh, say: ‘Do not cry [any more], because I will reward you [for the good things you have done for your children]. Your children will return from the land where their enemies [have taken them].
Konsa pale SENYÈ a: “Anpeche vwa ou k ap kriye, ak zye ou ap fè dlo; paske travay ou va vin rekonpanse,” deklare SENYÈ a: “Yo va retounen sòti nan peyi ènmi an.
17 [I], Yahweh, am telling you that there are things that you can confidently expect [me to do for you] in the future. Your children will return to their own land.’
Gen espwa davni pou ou,” deklare SENYÈ a: “Pitit ou yo va retounen nan peyi pa yo.
18 I have heard [the people of] Israel grieving very much [and saying to me], ‘You punished us severely, like [SIM] calves are beaten [by their owners to train them for pulling a plow]. [So] bring us back [to obey/worship you again], because we are ready to return to you, because you [alone] are Yahweh, our God.
“Anverite, Mwen te tande Éphraïm ap kriye ak doulè: ‘Ou te fè m sibi chatiman. Mwen te sibi chatiman tankou yon jenn bèf ki poko fin donte. Mennen m pou m ka restore, paske se Ou menm ki SENYÈ a, Bondye mwen an.
19 We turned away [from you], but we repented; [after you] caused us to realize [that we were guilty]. We beat our chests to show that we were very ashamed [DOU] of the sins that we committed when we were young.’
Paske lè m te retounen, mwen te repanti. Epi apre mwen te enstwi. Mwen te frape pwòp kwis mwen. Mwen te vin wont e twouble menm; paske mwen te pote repwòch jenès mwen.’
20 But [I], Yahweh, say this: The Israeli people certainly are [RHQ] still my dear children [DOU]. It is often necessary for me to threaten [to punish] them, but I still love them. That is why I have not forgotten them, and I will certainly act mercifully toward them.
Èske Éphraïm se fis Mwen? Èske li se yon pitit ki fè M anpil plezi? Anverite, Mwen te pale kont li souvan, men M sonje l toujou; konsa kè M gen gwo dezi pou li. Anverite, Mwen va fè gras pou li”, deklare SENYÈ a.
21 [You Israeli people, ] set up road signs; put up posts [along the roads] to mark the road on which you walked [when you were taken from Jerusalem]. My precious/beloved Israeli people, come back to your towns here.
“Plase pou ou menm ransèyman chemen yo; mete pou kont ou poto k ap dirije. Konsantre tout panse ou sou direksyon gran chemen an, wout sou sila ou te ale a. Retounen, O vyèj Israël; retounen kote vil sila yo, vil pa w yo.
22 You people who have been like [MET] daughters who have forsaken their parents, how long will you continue to wander [away from me] [RHQ]? I, Yahweh, will cause something to happen on the earth that (is new/has not happened before): The women of Israel will be protecting their husbands as they travel [back here]!”
Pou konbyen de tan ou va fè ale retou, O fi ki enfidèl? Paske SENYÈ a te fè yon bagay nèf sou latè: yon fanm va antoure yon nonm.”
23 This is what the Commander of the armies of angels, the God whom [we] Israeli people [worship], says: “When I bring them back from the countries to which they have been exiled, all the people from the towns in Judah will again say, [‘I hope that] Yahweh will bless this my home, the holy place where righteous [people will live]!’
Konsa pale SENYÈ dèzame yo, Bondye Israël la: “Yon fwa ankò, yo va pale pawòl sa a nan peyi Juda ak nan vil li yo lè M fin restore bonè li: ‘Ke SENYÈ a beni ou, O kay ladwati a, O mòn sen an!’
24 [The people of] Judah [who live in] the towns, including the farmers and the shepherds, will all live together [peacefully].
Juda ak tout vil li yo va demere ansanm ladann, kiltivatè a ak sila k ap deplase ak bann mouton li yo.
25 I will enable weary people to rest, and enable people who are very exhausted to become strong again.”
Paske Mwen rafrechi chak nanm ki fatige ak tout moun ki pèdi fòs yo.”
26 I, [Jeremiah], woke up [after dreaming all those things], and I looked [around]. I had slept [very] delightfully!
Nan moman sa a, mwen te reveye nan dòmi, e mwen te gade; dòmi an te tèlman dous pou mwen.
27 [Then] Yahweh said [to me], “There will be a time when I will greatly increase [MET] the number of people and the number of livestock here in Israel and Judah.
“Gade byen, jou yo ap vini”, deklare SENYÈ a: “Lè M va plante lakay Israël ak lakay Juda avèk semans a lòm e avèk semans a bèt.
28 [Previously], I caused [their enemies to] remove the people from their land and to destroy their land and to cause them to experience many disasters [DOU]. But in the future, I will enable them to build houses and to plant crops [here in Israel again]. [That will surely happen because I], Yahweh, have said it.
Konsi Mwen te veye sou yo pou rache yo, pou kraze yo, pou boulvèse yo, pou detwi yo, e pou mennen gwo dezas; se konsa mwen va veye sou yo pou bati e pou plante,” deklare SENYÈ a.
29 [Previously the people often said, ] ‘The parents have eaten sour grapes, but it is the children’s teeth that ache.’ [They meant that it was not fair for them to be punished for their ancestors’ sins]. But [when I bring them back to their land], they will no longer say that.
“Nan jou sa yo, yo p ap di ankò: ‘Papa yo te manje rezen si, e dan timoun yo vin kanpe apik.’
30 But now all people will die because of the sins that they themselves have committed.
Men chak moun va mouri akoz pwòp inikite pa li. Chak moun ki manje rezen si yo, se pwòp dan pa l k ap vin kanpe apik.
31 [I], Yahweh, say this: ‘There will be a time when I will make a new agreement with the people of Israel and Judah.
“Gade byen, jou yo ap vini”, deklare SENYÈ a: “lè Mwen va fè yon akò tounèf avèk lakay Israël, e avèk lakay Juda,
32 [This new agreement will] not be like the agreement that I made with their ancestors when I took them by their hands and led them out of Egypt. They broke that agreement, even though I [loved them like] [MET] husbands love their wives.’
pa tankou akò ke M te fè ak papa yo a nan jou ke M te pran yo pa lamen pou mennen yo sòti nan peyi Égypte la; akò Mwen ke yo te kraze a, malgre Mwen te yon mari pou yo a,” deklare SENYÈ a.
33 This is what I, Yahweh, say: ‘This is the new agreement that I will make with the people of Israel some day: I will put my laws in their minds and write them on their inner beings. I will be their God, and they will be my people.
“Men sa se akò ke M va fè ak lakay Israël apre jou sa yo”, deklare SENYÈ a: “Mwen va mete lalwa M anndan yo e sou kè yo Mwen va ekri l; epi Mwen va Bondye yo, e yo va pèp Mwen.
34 And it will not be [necessary] for them to teach their neighbors or their relatives and say, “[You need to] know Yahweh,” because everyone, including unimportant people and very important people, will [already] know me. And I will forgive them for having been very wicked, and I will never think again about the sins that they have committed.’”
“Yo p ap ankò enstwi, chak moun vwazen pa li, e chak moun frè pa li pou di: ‘Konnen SENYÈ a,’ paske yo tout va konnen Mwen, soti nan pi piti nan yo jis rive nan pi gran nan yo a,” deklare SENYÈ a, “paske Mwen va padone inikite yo, e peche yo, Mwen p ap sonje yo ankò.”
35 Yahweh is the one who causes the sun to give light during the day, and who causes the moon and the stars to give light during the night. He stirs up the seas, with the result that waves roar. His name is the Commander of the armies of angels, and this is what he says:
SENYÈ a ki bay solèy kon limyè nan lajounen e ki etabli lòd pou lalin ak zetwal yo pou bay limyè nan aswè, ki boulvèse lanmè a jis lanm li gwonde— SENYÈ dèzame yo se non Li, k ap di:
36 “I will not reject my Israeli people any more than I will get rid of the laws [that control the universe].
“Si lòd sa a vin deregle devan M, deklare SENYÈ a: “Alò desandan Israël yo osi va sispann kon yon nasyon devan M, jis pou tout tan.”
37 And this is what I say: ‘No one can measure the sky, and no one can find out what is supporting the earth. Similarly, I cannot reject forever the descendants of Jacob because of all the [evil] things that they have done.’ [That is certain, because] I, Yahweh, have said it!
Konsa pale SENYÈ a: “Si syèl anwo yo ka mezire, e fondasyon tè yo ka kontwole pa anba; alò, Mwen va osi jete tout desandan Israël yo nèt pou tout sa yo te fè yo,” deklare SENYÈ a.
38 [I], Yahweh, also say that there will be a time when [everything in] Jerusalem will be rebuilt for me, from the tower of Hananel [at the northeast corner, west] to [the gate named] the Corner Gate.
“Gade byen, jou yo ap vini,” deklare SENYÈ a: “Lè vil la va rebati pou SENYÈ a, soti nan fò Hananeel la jis rive nan Pòtay Kwen an.
39 [Workers] will stretch a measuring line/string over Gareb Hill all the way [southwest] to Goah.
Konsa lign mezi a va kontinye ale tou dwat jis rive nan kolin Gareb, epi li va vire Goath.
40 And the whole area, including the place where corpses and ashes are thrown in the [Kidron] Valley, and all the fields to the east as far as the Horse Gate, will become set apart for me. And the city [of Jerusalem] will never again be captured or destroyed.”
“Konsa tout vale kadav yo ak sann yo, e tout chan yo jis rive nan flèv Cédron nan, pou rive nan kwen Pòtay Cheval la, vè lès, va sen a SENYÈ a. Konsa, li p ap rache retire, ni jete ba ankò, jis pou tout tan.”
