Jeremiah 18
1 Yahweh gave another message to me. [He said],
൧യഹോവയിൽനിന്ന് യിരെമ്യാവിനുണ്ടായ അരുളപ്പാട് എന്തെന്നാൽ:
2 “Go to the shop of the man who makes clay pots. I will give you a message there.”
൨“നീ എഴുന്നേറ്റ് കുശവന്റെ വീട്ടിലേക്കു ചെല്ലുക; അവിടെവച്ച് ഞാൻ നിന്നെ എന്റെ വചനങ്ങൾ കേൾപ്പിക്കും”.
3 So I went to that shop, and I saw the man who makes pots. He was working at the wheel [that he uses to form pots].
൩അങ്ങനെ ഞാൻ കുശവന്റെ വീട്ടിൽ ചെന്നപ്പോൾ അവൻ ചക്രത്തിന്മേൽ വേല ചെയ്തുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.
4 But when he finished making one jar, it was not as good as he hoped/wanted it to be. [So], he took that clay and formed it into another jar, shaping it as he desired.
൪കുശവൻ കളിമണ്ണുകൊണ്ട് ഉണ്ടാക്കിയ പാത്രം അവന്റെ കയ്യിൽ ചീത്തയായിപ്പോയി; എന്നാൽ കുശവൻ അതിനെ തനിക്കു യുക്തമെന്നു തോന്നിയതുപോലെ മറ്റൊരു പാത്രമാക്കിത്തീർത്തു.
5 Then Yahweh gave me this message:
൫അപ്പോൾ യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാട് എനിക്കുണ്ടായതെന്തെന്നാൽ:
6 “Perhaps the people of Israel [think that] I cannot do to them like this man who makes pots has done [RHQ]. [But what they think is wrong]. I [can control what happens to them like] this man [controls what he does with the clay] in his hands.
൬“യിസ്രായേൽ ഗൃഹമേ, ഈ കുശവൻ ചെയ്തതുപോലെ എനിക്ക് നിങ്ങളോടു ചെയ്യുവാൻ കഴിയുകയില്ലയോ” എന്ന് യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാട്; “യിസ്രായേൽ ഗൃഹമേ, കളിമണ്ണു കുശവന്റെ കയ്യിൽ ഇരിക്കുന്നതുപോലെ നിങ്ങൾ എന്റെ കയ്യിൽ ഇരിക്കുന്നു.
7 There may be a time when I proclaim that I will get rid of a nation or kingdom, [like someone] pulls up [a plant with its roots], and smashes it, and destroys it.
൭ഞാൻ ഒരു ജനതയെക്കുറിച്ചോ ഒരു രാജ്യത്തെക്കുറിച്ചോ ‘അതിനെ ഉന്മൂലനം ചെയ്ത് എറിഞ്ഞ് നശിപ്പിച്ചുകളയും’ എന്നരുളിച്ചെയ്തശേഷം,
8 But if [the people of] that nation repent of doing evil things, I will not send to them the disasters that I planned to send.
൮ഞാൻ അങ്ങനെ അരുളിച്ചെയ്ത ജനത അതിന്റെ ദുഷ്ടത വിട്ടുതിരിയുന്നുവെങ്കിൽ അതിനോട് ചെയ്യുവാൻ നിരൂപിച്ച ദോഷത്തെക്കുറിച്ചു ഞാൻ അനുതപിക്കും.
9 And there may be a time when I proclaim that I will establish a nation or kingdom and cause it to be strong [MET].
൯ഒരു ജനതയെക്കുറിച്ചോ രാജ്യത്തെക്കുറിച്ചോ ‘ഞാൻ അതിനെ പണിയുകയും നടുകയും ചെയ്യും’ എന്നരുളിച്ചെയ്തിട്ട്
10 But if [the people of] that nation [start to] do evil things and refuse to obey me, then I will not bless them as I said that I would do.
൧൦അത് എന്റെ വാക്കു കേട്ടനുസരിക്കാതെ എനിക്ക് അനിഷ്ടമായുള്ളതു ചെയ്യുന്നുവെങ്കിൽ ‘അവർക്ക് വരുത്തും’ എന്നരുളിച്ചെയ്ത നന്മയെക്കുറിച്ചു ഞാൻ അനുതപിക്കും.
11 Therefore, [Jeremiah, go and warn all] the people in Jerusalem and [in other places] in Judah. Say to them, ‘This is what Yahweh says: “I am planning to cause you to experience a disaster [DOU]. [So], each of you should turn from your evil behavior and start doing what is right, [in order that you will not experience that disaster].”’’”
൧൧അതിനാൽ നീ ചെന്ന് യെഹൂദാപുരുഷന്മാരോടും യെരൂശലേം നിവാസികളോടും പറയേണ്ടത്: “യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: ഞാൻ നിങ്ങൾക്ക് ഒരനർത്ഥം ചിന്തിച്ച്, നിങ്ങൾക്ക് വിരോധമായി ഒരു പദ്ധതി നിനച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; നിങ്ങൾ ഓരോരുത്തനും അവനവന്റെ ദുർമ്മാർഗ്ഗം വിട്ടുതിരിഞ്ഞ് നിങ്ങളുടെ നടപ്പും പ്രവൃത്തികളും നന്നാക്കുവിൻ”.
12 [So I told that message to the people], but they replied, “It is useless [for you to tell us that]. We will [continue to] be stubborn and behave as we want to.”
൧൨അതിന് അവർ: “ഇതു വെറുതെ; ഞങ്ങൾ ഞങ്ങളുടെ സ്വന്ത നിരൂപണങ്ങൾ അനുസരിച്ചു നടക്കും; ഞങ്ങളിൽ ഓരോരുത്തനും അവനവന്റെ ദുഷ്ടഹൃദയത്തിലെ ശാഠ്യം പ്രവർത്തിക്കും” എന്ന് പറഞ്ഞു.
13 So, this is what Yahweh says: “Ask the [people who live in other] nations if they have [RHQ] ever heard of such a thing. My Israeli people, who [have been pure like] [MET] virgins, have done a terrible thing!
൧൩അതുകൊണ്ട് യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: “ജനതകളുടെ ഇടയിൽ ചെന്ന് അന്വേഷിക്കുവിൻ; ഇങ്ങനെയുള്ളത് ആരെങ്കിലും കേട്ടിട്ടുണ്ടോ? യിസ്രായേൽകന്യക അതിഭയങ്കരമായുള്ളതു ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു.
14 The snow certainly never [RHQ] completely disappears/melts from the rocky slopes of the mountains in Lebanon. The cold streams that flow down from those distant mountains never [RHQ] cease flowing.
൧൪ലെബാനോനിലെ ഹിമം വയലിലെ പാറയെ വിട്ടുപോകുമോ? അന്യദേശത്തുനിന്ന് ഒഴുകിവരുന്ന തണുത്ത വെള്ളം വറ്റിപ്പോകുമോ?
15 But my people [are not as reliable as those streams: ] They have abandoned me. They burn incense to [honor/worship] worthless idols. [It is as though] they have stumbled as they walked along very old roads that are good roads, and now, instead, they are walking on dirt paths.
൧൫എന്റെ ജനമോ, എന്നെ മറന്ന് മിഥ്യാമൂർത്തികൾക്കു ധൂപം കാട്ടുന്നു; അവരുടെ വഴികളിൽ, പുരാതന പാതകളിൽ തന്നെ, അവർ അവരെ ഇടറി വീഴുമാറാക്കി; അവർ നിരപ്പില്ലാത്ത വഴികളിലും പാതകളിലും നടക്കുന്നു;
16 Therefore, their land will become desolate, and people who see it will hiss [to ridicule it]. Everyone who passes by will be appalled; they will shake their heads [to show that they are shocked].
൧൬അവർ അവരുടെ ദേശത്തെ ശൂന്യവും നിത്യപരിഹാസവും ആക്കുന്നു; അതിൽകൂടി കടന്നുപോകുന്ന ഏതൊരുവനും സ്തംഭിച്ചു തലകുലുക്കും.
17 I will scatter the people when their enemies [attack them] like dust is scattered by an east wind. And when they experience all those difficulties/disasters, I will turn my back on them [and refuse] to help them.”
൧൭കിഴക്കൻ കാറ്റിലെന്നപോലെ ഞാൻ അവരെ ശത്രുക്കളുടെ മുമ്പിൽ ചിതറിച്ചുകളയും; അവരുടെ അനർത്ഥദിവസത്തിൽ ഞാൻ അവർക്ക് എന്റെ മുഖമല്ല, പുറമത്രേ കാണിക്കുന്നത്”.
18 Then some of the people said, “Come, let’s plan to attack Jeremiah. We have [many] priests who teach us God’s laws, and wise men who give us good advice, and prophets who tell us [what will happen. We do not need Jeremiah!] So, let’s slander him and not pay attention to anything that he says.”
൧൮എന്നാൽ അവർ: “വരുവിൻ, നമുക്കു യിരെമ്യാവിന്റെ നേരെ ഉപായങ്ങൾ ചിന്തിക്കാം; പുരോഹിതന്റെ പക്കൽ ഉപദേശവും ജ്ഞാനിയുടെ പക്കൽ ആലോചനയും പ്രവാചകന്റെ പക്കൽ അരുളപ്പാടും ഇല്ലാതെവരുകയില്ല; വരുവിൻ നമുക്ക് അവനെ നാവുകൊണ്ട് തകർക്കാം; അവന്റെ വാക്ക് ഒന്നും നാം ശ്രദ്ധിക്കരുത്” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
19 [Then I prayed], “Yahweh, [please] listen to me! And listen to what my enemies are saying about me.
൧൯“യഹോവേ, എനിക്ക് ചെവിതന്ന് എന്റെ പ്രതിയോഗികളുടെ വാക്കു കേൾക്കണമേ.
20 I am doing things that are good, so it is disgusting that [RHQ] they are paying me back by doing evil [things to me]. [It is as though] they have dug a pit for me [to fall into] and die. Do not forget that [one time] I stood in front of you and pleaded for you [to help them], and I tried to prevent you from [punishing them] [MTY], even though you were very angry with them.
൨൦നന്മയ്ക്കു പകരം തിന്മ ചെയ്യാമോ? അവർ എന്റെ പ്രാണഹാനിക്കായി ഒരു കുഴി കുഴിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; അവിടുത്തെ കോപം അവരെ വിട്ടുമാറേണ്ടതിന് ഞാൻ അവർക്കുവേണ്ടി നന്മ സംസാരിക്കുവാൻ തിരുമുമ്പിൽ നിന്നത് ഓർക്കണമേ.
21 So [now], allow their children to die from hunger! Or cause them to be killed by [their enemies’] swords! Cause their wives to become widows, whose children are all dead! Cause their [old] men to die in a plague, and cause their young men to be killed in battles!
൨൧അവരുടെ മക്കളെ ക്ഷാമത്തിന് ഏല്പിച്ച്, വാളിനിരയാക്കണമേ; അവരുടെ ഭാര്യമാർ മക്കളില്ലാത്തവരും വിധവമാരും ആയിത്തീരട്ടെ; അവരുടെ പുരുഷന്മാർ മരണത്തിന് ഇരയാകട്ടെ; അവരുടെ യൗവനക്കാർ യുദ്ധത്തിൽ വാളിനാൽ വധിക്കപ്പെടട്ടെ.
22 Cause people to scream in their homes when enemy soldiers suddenly come into their houses! [Cause all those things to happen to them] because they [want to kill me]. [It is as though] they have dug a pit for me [to fall into], and they have hidden traps along my path.
൨൨അങ്ങ് പെട്ടെന്ന് ഒരു പടക്കൂട്ടത്തെ അവരുടെ മേൽ വരുത്തിയിട്ട്, അവരുടെ വീടുകളിൽനിന്ന് നിലവിളി കേൾക്കുമാറാകട്ടെ; അവർ എന്നെ പിടിക്കുവാൻ ഒരു കുഴി കുഴിച്ചു; എന്റെ കാലിന് കെണി മറച്ചുവച്ചിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.
23 Yahweh, you know all the things that they are planning to do to kill me. Do not forgive them for their crimes or blot out [the record of] their sins. Cause them to be destroyed; punish them because of your being angry [with them]!”
൨൩യഹോവേ, എന്റെ മരണത്തിനുവേണ്ടിയുള്ള അവരുടെ ആലോചനയെല്ലാം അങ്ങ് അറിയുന്നു; അവരുടെ അകൃത്യം ക്ഷമിക്കരുതേ; അവരുടെ പാപം തിരുമുമ്പിൽനിന്ന് മായിച്ചുകളയരുതേ; അവർ തിരുമുമ്പിൽ ഇടറിവീഴട്ടെ; അവിടുത്തെ കോപത്തിന്റെ കാലത്ത് തന്നെ അവരോടു പ്രവർത്തിക്കണമേ”.
