Isaiah 9
1 However, those in Judah who have been distressed/worried will not [continue to] suffer. Previously, Yahweh humbled [the people in] the land [where the tribes of] Zebulun and Naphtali [live]. But in the future he will honor [the people who live in] that Galilee region, along the road between the Jordan [River] and the [Mediterranean] Sea, where [many] foreigners live.
Nhưng, cho người đã chịu buồn rầu thì sẽ không có sự mờ mịt. Trong đời xưa Ðức Chúa Trời đã hạ đất Sa-bu-lôn và đất Nép-ta-li xuống; nhưng trong kỳ sau Ngài đã làm cho đất gần mé biển, tức là nơi bên kia sông Giô-đanh, trong xứ Ga-li-lê của dân ngoại, được vinh hiển.
2 [Some day, it will be as though] [MET] the people who walked in darkness will see a great light. A [great] light will shine on those who live in a land where they have great troubles/distress.
Dân đi trong nơi tối tăm đã thấy sự sáng lớn; và sự sáng đã chiếu trên những kẻ ở xứ thuộc về bóng của sự chết.
3 [Yahweh], you will cause us people in Israel to rejoice; we will become very happy. We will rejoice about what you [have done] like [SIM] people rejoice when they harvest their crops, [or] like soldiers rejoice when they divide up among themselves the things that they have captured in a battle.
Chúa đã làm cho dân nầy thêm nhiều; và thêm sự vui cho họ. Mọi người đều vui mừng trước mặt Chúa, như vui mừng trong ngày mùa gặt, như người ta reo vui trong lúc chia của cướp.
4 You will cause us to no longer be slaves [MET] [of those who captured us]; you will lift the heavy burdens from our shoulders. [It will be as though] you will break the rods of those who oppressed us, like you did when you destroyed [the army of] the Midian people-group.
Vì Chúa đã bẻ cái ách họ mang, cái roi đánh trên vai họ, cái gậy của kẻ hà hiếp, như trong ngày của Ma-đi-an.
5 The boots that the enemy soldiers have worn and their clothing which has stains of blood on them will all be burned up; they will only be fuel for a [big] fire.
Cả giày dép của kẻ đánh giặc trong khi giao chiến, cùng cả áo xống vấy máu, đều dùng để đốt và làm đồ chụm lửa.
6 Another reason that we will rejoice is that a [special] child will be born for us; [a woman will give birth to] a son, who will be our ruler. And his names will be ‘Wonderful Counselor’, ‘Mighty/Powerful God’, ‘[Our] Everlasting Father’, and ‘Prince/Ruler [who enables us to have] Peace’.
Vì có một con trẻ sanh cho chúng ta, tức là một con trai ban cho chúng ta; quyền cai trị sẽ nấy trên vai Ngài. Ngài sẽ được xưng là Ðấng Lạ lùng, là Ðấng Mưu luận, là Ðức Chúa Trời Quyền năng, là Cha Ðời đời, là Chúa Bình an.
7 His rule, and the peace that he [brings/causes], will never end. He will rule [MTY] fairly and justly [DOU], like [his ancestor King] David did. This will happen because the Commander of the armies of angels greatly desires that it happen.
Quyền cai trị và sự bình an của Ngài cứ thêm mãi không thôi, ở trên ngôi Ða-vít và trên nước Ngài, đặng làm cho nước bền vững, và lập lên trong sự chánh trực công bình, từ nay cho đến đời đời. Thật, lòng sốt sắng của Ðức Giê-hô-va vạn quân sẽ làm nên sự ấy!
8 The Lord has warned the people of Israel, the descendants of Jacob; he has said that [he will punish] them.
Chúa đã giáng một lời trong Gia-cốp, và lời ấy đổ xuống trên Y-sơ-ra-ên.
9 And all the people in Samaria and [other places in] Israel know that, [but] they are very proud and arrogant [DOU]. They say, “Our city has been destroyed, but we will [take away the broken bricks from the ruins] [and] replace them with carefully cut stones. Our sycamore-fig trees have been cut down [by our enemies], but we will plant cedar trees [in their place].”
Cả dân sẽ biết điều đó, tức là Ép-ra-im cùng dân cư Sa-ma-ri, họ đem lòng kiêu căng ỷ thị mà nói rằng:
Gạch đã đổ, nhưng chúng ta sẽ xây bằng đá đẽo; cây sung đã bị đốn, nhưng chúng ta sẽ thay bằng cây hương bách.
11 But Yahweh brought the armies of [Assyria], the enemies of King Rezin [of Syria, to fight] against Israel and incited [other] nations [to attack Israel].
Vậy nên, Ðức Giê-hô-va sẽ khiến kẻ đối địch ở Rê-xin dấy lên nghịch cùng dân sự, và khích chọc kẻ cừu thù,
12 [The army of] Syria [came] from the east, and [the army of] Philistia [came] from the west, and they destroyed Israel [like a wild animal tears another animal apart and] [MET] devours it. But even after that happened, Yahweh was still very angry with them. He was ready to strike them with his fist again.
dân Sy-ri đằng trước, dân Phi-li-tin đằng sau, hả miệng nuốt Y-sơ-ra-ên. Dầu vậy, cơn giận Ngài chẳng lánh khỏi, nhưng tay Ngài còn giơ ra!
13 [But even though] Yahweh punished his people [like that], they [still] did not return to him [and worship him]. They [still] did not request the Commander of the armies of angels [to assist them].
Nhưng mà dân sự chẳng xây về Ðấng đánh mình, chẳng tin Ðức Giê-hô-va vạn quân.
14 Therefore, in one day Yahweh will get rid of [those who are like] Israel’s head and [those who are like] its tail; the [ones who are like] the top of the palm tree and the [ones who are like] the bottom.
Cho nên chỉ trong một ngày, Ðức Giê-hô-va sẽ dứt đầu và đuôi, cây kè và cây lác của Y-sơ-ra-ên.
15 The leaders [DOU] of Israel are the head, and the prophets who tell lies are the tail.
Ðầu, tức là trưởng lão và kẻ tôn trọng; đuôi, tức là người tiên tri dạy sự nói dối.
16 The leaders of the people have misled them; they have caused the people that they are ruling to be confused.
Những kẻ dắt dân nầy làm cho họ sai lạc, còn những kẻ chịu dắt bị diệt mất.
17 For that reason, Yahweh is not pleased with the young men [of Israel], and he does not [even] act mercifully toward the widows and orphans, because they are all ungodly and wicked, and they all say things that are foolish. [But] Yahweh still is angry with them; he is ready to strike them with his fist again.
Vậy nên, Chúa chẳng đẹp lòng về bọn trai trẻ của họ, và chẳng thương xót đến kẻ mồ côi góa bụa chút nào; vì họ đều là khinh lờn, gian ác, miệng nào cũng nói điều càn dỡ. Dầu vậy, cơn giận Ngài chẳng lánh khỏi, nhưng tay Ngài còn giơ ra!
18 When people do wicked things, it is like [SIM] a brushfire [that spreads rapidly]. It burns up [not only] briers and thorns; it starts a big fire in the forests from which clouds of smoke will rise.
Vì sự hung ác hừng lên như lửa thiêu cháy gai gốc và chà chuôm, đốt các nơi rậm trong rừng, trụ khói cuộn lên.
19 [It is as though] the [whole] land is burned [black] because the Commander of the armies of angels is extremely angry with the Israeli people. They will become like [SIM] fuel for that great fire, and no one will try to rescue even his [own] brother [from that fire].
Ðất bị thiêu đốt bởi cơn giận của Ðức Giê-hô-va vạn quân, dân sự trở nên mồi của lửa; chẳng ai thương tiếc anh em mình.
20 Israeli people will attack their neighbors on the right [to get food from them], but they will still be hungry. They will [kill those who live in houses] on the left and eat their flesh, but their stomachs will still not be full.
Có kẻ cướp bên hữu, mà vẫn cứ đói; có kẻ ăn bên tả, mà chẳng được no; ai nấy ăn thịt mình chính cánh tay mình.
21 [People of the tribes of] Manasseh and Ephraim will attack each other, and [then] they will both attack the people of Judah. But even after that happens, Yahweh will still be very angry with them. He will be ready to strike them with his fist again.
Ma-na-se nghịch cùng Ép-ra-im, Ép-ra-im nghịch cùng Ma-na-se, và cả hai đều nghịch cùng Giu-đa! Dầu vậy, cơn giận của Ðức Giê-hô-va chẳng lánh khỏi, nhưng tay Ngài còn giơ ra.
