Isaiah 64
1 “[Yahweh], I wish that you would tear open the sky and come down, and cause the mountains to shake in your presence.
Taumaiā ke ke haeʻi ʻae ngaahi langi, koeʻuhi ke ke hāʻele hifo, koeʻuhi ke tafe hifo ʻae ngaahi moʻunga ʻi hoʻo ʻafio mai.
2 [Be] like a fire that burns twigs and causes water to boil! [Come down] in order that your enemies will know who you are, and the [people of other] nations will tremble in your presence.
ʻO hangē ʻoku ulo ʻae afi vela, ʻoku ngaohi ʻe he afi ʻae vai ke lili, ke pehē hoʻo fakahā ho huafa ki ho ngaahi fili, koeʻuhi ke tetetete ʻae ngaahi puleʻanga ʻi ho ʻao!
3 You have done awesome things which we were not expecting you to do; the mountains shook when you came down [at Horeb Mountain].
ʻI hoʻo fai ʻae ngaahi meʻa fakamanavahē ʻaia naʻe ʻikai te nau ʻamanaki ki ai, naʻa ke hāʻele hifo, naʻe tafe hifo ʻae ngaahi moʻunga ʻi ho ʻao ʻi hoʻo ʻafio mai.
4 Since (long ago/the world began), no one [SYN] has [ever] seen or heard about a God like you; you help those who (depend on/trust in) you.
He talu ʻae kamataʻanga ʻo māmani ʻoku teʻeki fanongo, pe ongoʻi ʻe he telinga, pe mamata ʻe ha mata, ki ha ʻOtua mo koe, ʻaia kuo ne fai ʻae ngaahi meʻa pehē ni maʻanautolu ʻoku tatali kiate ia.
5 You help those who joyfully do what is right, those who conduct their lives as you want them to. But [we did not do that]; we continued to sin, and so you became angry with us. We have been sinning for a long time, so only if we continually do what you want us to do will we be saved.
ʻOku ke fakafetaulaki kiate ia ʻoku fiefia pea fai māʻoniʻoni, kiate kinautolu ʻoku manatu kiate koe ʻi ho ngaahi hala: vakai, ʻoku ke houhau; he kuo mau fai angahala: ka ʻoku tuʻumaʻu [ʻena], pea te mau moʻui.
6 We have all become people who are not fit to worship you; all of the good things that we have done are only like [SIM] filthy/blood-stained rags. Because of our sins, we are like [SIM] leaves that dry up and are blown away by the wind.
ʻOku mau tatau kotoa pē mo e taʻemaʻa, pea ʻoku tatau ʻemau māʻoniʻoni kotoa pē mo e ngaahi konga holoholo fakalielia; pea ʻoku mau mae kotoa pē ʻo hangē ko e louʻakau; pea ko ʻemau ngaahi hia, ʻo hangē ko e matangi, kuo ne ʻāvea ʻakimautolu.
7 None [of our people] worships you, and no one is completely dedicated to [IDM] you. You have turned away from us. [It is as though] you have caused us to be forced to continue our sinful behavior.
Pea ʻoku ʻikai ha taha ʻoku ui ki ho huafa, pe ueʻi ʻe ia ia ke puke kiate koe: he kuo ke fufū ho fofonga ʻiate kimautolu, pea kuo fakaʻauha ʻakimautolu, koeʻuhi ko ʻemau ngaahi hia.
8 Yahweh, you are our father. We are [like] [MET] clay, and you created us, [like] [MET] a potter [creates pottery].
Ka ko eni, ʻE Sihova, ko koe ko ʻemau tamai; ko e ʻumea ʻakimautolu, pea ko homau ngaohi koe: pea ko e ngāue ʻa ho nima ʻakimautolu kotoa pē.
9 Yahweh, do not continue to be angry [with us]; do not keep thinking about [our] sins forever. Do not forget that we are all your people.
ʻOua naʻa ke houhau lahi, ʻE Sihova, pe manatu maʻuaipē ki he hia: vakai, pea ʻafioʻi, ʻoku mau kole kiate koe, he ko hoʻo kakai ʻakimautolu kotoa pē.
10 [All of] your towns [in Judah] have become like [MET] deserts; [even] Jerusalem has been destroyed.
Kuo hoko ko e toafa ʻa hoʻo ngaahi kolo māʻoniʻoni, ko e potu liʻaki ʻa Saione, kuo ʻauha ʻa Selūsalema.
11 Your glorious temple on Zion Hill, where our ancestors worshiped you, has been destroyed by fire. And all our [other] beautiful things have been ruined.
Kuo vela ʻi he afi ʻa homau fale matamata ʻeiki mo māʻoniʻoni, ʻaia naʻe fakamālō ai kiate koe ʻa ʻemau ngaahi tamai: pea kuo maumau ʻemau ngaahi meʻa lelei kotoa pē.
12 Yahweh, you see all those things, so we worry that you will refrain [from helping us], and that you will cause us to suffer much more.
Te ke taʻofi koe, ʻE Sihova, koeʻuhi ko e ngaahi meʻa ni? Te ke fakalongo pe, pea fakamamahi lahi ʻakimautolu?
