< Genesis 5 >

1 Here is a list of the descendants of Adam. When God created humans, he caused them to be like him in many ways.
Èyí ni àkọsílẹ̀ ìran Adamu. Nígbà tí Ọlọ́run dá ènìyàn, ní àwòrán Ọlọ́run ni ó dá a.
2 He created one man and one woman. He blessed them, and on the day that he created them, he called them ‘human beings’.
Àti akọ àti abo ni Ó dá wọn, ó sì súre fún wọn, ó sì pe orúkọ wọ́n ní Adamu ní ọjọ́ tí ó dá wọn.
3 When Adam was 130 years old, he became the father of a son who [grew up to] be just like him. That was the son he named Seth.
Nígbà tí Adamu di ẹni àádóje ọdún, ó bí ọmọkùnrin kan tí ó jọ ọ́, tí ó jẹ́ àwòrán ara rẹ̀, ó sì pe orúkọ rẹ̀ ní Seti.
4 After Seth was born, Adam lived 800 more years, and during those years he became the father of other sons and daughters.
Ọjọ́ Adamu, lẹ́yìn ìgbà tí ó bí Seti, jẹ́ ẹgbẹ̀rin ọdún, ó sì bí àwọn ọmọkùnrin àti ọmọbìnrin.
5 Adam lived 930 years altogether, and then he died.
Àpapọ̀ ọdún tí Adamu gbé ní orí ilẹ̀ jẹ́ ẹ̀ẹ́dẹ́gbẹ̀rún ọdún ó lé ọgbọ̀n, ó sì kú.
6 When Seth was 105 years old, he became the father of Enosh.
Nígbà tí Seti pé àrùnlélọ́gọ́rùn-ún ọdún, ó bí Enoṣi.
7 After Enosh was born, Seth lived 807 more years, and became the father of other sons and daughters.
Lẹ́yìn ìgbà tí ó bí Enoṣi, Seti sì gbé fún ẹgbẹ̀rin ọdún ó lé méje, ó sì bí àwọn; ọmọkùnrin àti ọmọbìnrin.
8 Seth lived 912 years altogether, and then he died.
Àpapọ̀ ọdún Seti sì jẹ́ ẹ̀ẹ́dẹ́gbẹ̀rún ọdún ó lé méjìlá, ó sì kú.
9 When Enosh was 90 years old, he became the father of Kenan.
Nígbà tí Enoṣi di ẹni àádọ́rùn-ún ọdún ni ó bí Kenani.
10 After Kenan was born, Enosh lived 815 more years and became the father of other sons and daughters.
Lẹ́yìn tí ó bí Kenani, Enoṣi sì wà láààyè fún ẹgbẹ̀rin ọdún ó lé mẹ́ẹ̀ẹ́dógún, ó sì bí àwọn ọkùnrin àti obìnrin.
11 Enosh lived 905 years altogether, and then he died.
Àpapọ̀ ọdún Enoṣi jẹ́ ẹ̀ẹ́dẹ́gbẹ̀rún ọdún ó lé márùn-ún, ó sì kú.
12 When Kenan was 70 years old, he became the father of Mahalalel.
Nígbà tí Kenani di àádọ́rin ọdún ni ó bí Mahalaleli.
13 After Mahalalel was born, Kenan lived 840 more years and became the father of other sons and daughters.
Lẹ́yìn tí ó bí Mahalaleli, Kenani wà láààyè fún òjìlélẹ́gbẹ̀rin ọdún, ó sì bí àwọn ọmọkùnrin àti ọmọbìnrin.
14 Kenan lived 910 years altogether, and then he died.

15 When Mahalalel was 65 years old, he became the father of Jared.
Nígbà tí Mahalaleli pé ọmọ àrùnlélọ́gọ́ta ọdún ni ó bí Jaredi.
16 After Jared was born, Mahalalel lived 830 more years and became the father of other sons and daughters.
Mahalaleli sì gbé fún ẹgbẹ̀rin ọdún ó lé ọgbọ̀n lẹ́yìn ìgbà tí ó bí Jaredi, ó sì bí àwọn ọmọkùnrin àti ọmọbìnrin.
17 Mahalalel lived 895 years altogether, and then he died.
Àpapọ̀ iye ọdún Mahalaleli jẹ́ ẹ̀ẹ́dẹ́gbẹ̀rún ọdún ó dín márùn-ún, ó sì kú.
18 When Jared was 162 years old, he became the father of Enoch.
Nígbà tí Jaredi pé ọmọ ọgọ́jọ ọdún ó lé méjì ni ó bí Enoku.
19 Jared lived 800 years after Enoch was born, and he became the father of other sons and daughters.
Lẹ́yìn èyí, Jaredi wà láààyè fún ẹgbẹ̀rin ọdún Enoku sì bí àwọn ọmọkùnrin àti ọmọbìnrin.
20 Jared lived 962 years altogether, and then he died.
Àpapọ̀ ọdún Jaredi sì jẹ́ ẹgbẹ̀rún dín méjìdínlógójì, ó sì kú.
21 When Enoch was 65 years old, he became the father of Methuselah.
Nígbà tí Enoku pé ọmọ ọgọ́ta ọdún ó lé márùn ni ó bí Metusela.
22 Enoch lived in close fellowship with God for 300 years after Methuselah was born, and he became the father of other sons and daughters.
Lẹ́yìn tí ó bí Metusela, Enoku sì bá Ọlọ́run rìn ní ọ̀ọ́dúnrún ọdún, ó sì bí àwọn ọmọkùnrin àti ọmọbìnrin.
23 Enoch lived 365 years altogether in close fellowship with God.
Àpapọ̀ ọjọ́ Enoku sì jẹ́ irinwó ọdún dín márùndínlógójì.
24 Then one day he disappeared, because God took him away [to be with him in heaven].
Enoku bá Ọlọ́run rìn; a kò sì rí i mọ́ nítorí Ọlọ́run mú un lọ.
25 When Methuselah was 187 years old, he became the father of Lamech.
Nígbà tí Metusela pé igba ọdún dín mẹ́tàlá ní o bí Lameki.
26 Methuselah lived 782 years after Lamech was born, and became the father of other sons and daughters.
Lẹ́yìn èyí Metusela wà láààyè fún ẹgbẹ̀rin ọdún dín méjìdínlógún, lẹ́yìn ìgbà tí ó bí Lameki, ó sì bí àwọn ọmọkùnrin àti ọmọbìnrin.
27 Methuselah lived 969 years altogether, and then he died.
Àpapọ̀ ọdún Metusela jẹ́ ẹgbẹ̀rún ọdún dín mọ́kànlélọ́gbọ̀n, ó sì kú.
28 When Lamech was 182 years old, he became the father of a son,
Nígbà tí Lameki pé ọdún méjìlélọ́gọ́sàn án ni ó bí ọmọkùnrin kan.
29 whom he named Noah, [which sounds like the Hebrew word that means ‘relief’], because he said, “He will bring us relief from all the hard work we have been doing to produce food from the ground that Yahweh cursed.”
Ó sì pe orúkọ rẹ̀ ní Noa, ó sì wí pé, “Eléyìí ni yóò tù wá nínú ni iṣẹ́ àti làálàá ọwọ́ wa, nítorí ilẹ̀ tí Olúwa ti fi gégùn ún.”
30 Lamech lived 595 years after Noah was born and became the father of other sons and daughters.
Lẹ́yìn tí ó bí Noa, Lameki gbé fún ẹgbẹ̀ta ọdún dín márùn-ún, ó sì bí àwọn ọmọkùnrin àti ọmọbìnrin.
31 Lamech lived 777 years altogether, and then he died.
Àpapọ̀ ọdún Lameki sì jẹ́ ẹgbẹ̀rin ọdún dín mẹ́tàlélógún, ó sì kú.
32 When Noah was 500 years old, he became the father of a son whom he named Shem. Later he became the father of another son whom he named Ham, and later he became the father of another son whom he named Japheth.
Lẹ́yìn tí Noa pé ọmọ ẹ̀ẹ́dẹ́gbẹ̀ta ọdún ni ó bí Ṣemu, Hamu àti Jafeti.
