Genesis 36
1 (Here is/I will now give you) a list of the descendants of Esau, whose other name was Edom.
Detta är Esaus slägte, som kallas Edom.
2 Esau married three women from the Canaan region: Adah, the daughter of Elon from the Heth people-group; Oholibamah, who was the daughter of Anah and granddaughter of Zibeon from the Hiv people-group;
Esau tog hustrur af Canaans döttrar: Ada Elons Hetheens dotter, och Aholibama Anas dotter, Zibeons Heveens dotters.
3 and Basemath, who was the daughter of Ishmael and sister of Nebaioth.

4 Esau’s wife Adah gave birth to Eliphaz. Basemath gave birth to Reuel.
Och Ada födde Esau Eliphas. Men Basmath födde Reguel.
5 Oholibamah gave birth to Jeush, Jalam, and Korah. All these sons of Esau were born while he was living in the Canaan region.
Aholibama födde Jeus, Jaelam och Korah. Desse äro Esaus barn, som honom födde voro i Canaans lande.
6 Jacob and Esau had very many possessions. The result was that they needed more land for their livestock. The land where they were living was not big enough for both of them. They had too much livestock. So Esau, whose other name was Edom, had taken his wives and sons and daughters and all the other members of his household, his sheep and goats and his other animals, and all the other things he had obtained in Canaan land, and they had moved to an area that was away from Jacob.
Och Esau tog sina hustrur, söner och döttrar, och alla sins huses själar; sina håfvor, och allan boskapen med alla ägodelar, som han förvärfvat hade i Canaans lande: Och for uti ett land, ifrå sin broder Jacob.
Förty deras ägodelar voro så stora, att de kunde icke bo med hvarannan: Och landet, der de uti främlingar voro, kunde icke fördraga dem, för deras stora ägodelars skull.
8 They went to live in the Seir hilly area.
Så bodde då Esau på Seirs berg: Och denne Esau är Edom.
9 (Here is/I will now give you) another list of the male descendants of Esau. He was the ancestor of the Edom people-group who live in the Seir area.
Detta är Esaus slägte, af hvilkom de Edomeer komne äro på Seirs berg.
10 Esau’s wife Adah gave birth to Eliphaz, and Esau’s wife Basemath gave birth to Reuel.
Och så heta Esaus barn: Eliphas Ada son, Esaus hustrus; Reguel Basmaths son, Esaus hustrus.
11 The sons of Eliphaz were Teman, Omar, Zepho, Gatam, and Kenaz.
Men Eliphas söner voro desse: Theman, Omar, Zepho, Gatham och Kenas.
12 Esau’s son Eliphaz also had a (concubine/female slave whom he took as a secondary wife). Her name was Timna. She gave birth to Amalek. Those six men were grandsons of Esau’s wife Adah.
Och Thimna var Eliphas Esau sons frilla; hon födde Amalek. Desse äro de barn af Ada, Esaus hustru.
13 Reuel’s sons were Nahath, Zerah, Shammah, and Mizzah. They were grandsons of Esau’s wife Basemath.
Men Reguels barn äro desse: Nahath, Serah, Samma, Missa. Desse äro de barn af Basmath, Esaus hustru.
14 Esau’s wife Oholibamah, who was the daughter of Anah and granddaughter of Zibeon, gave birth to three sons: Jeush, Jalam, and Korah.
Men de barn af Aholibama, Esaus hustru, Anas dotter, Zibeons dotters, äro desse, dem hon födde Esau: Jeus, Jaelam och Korah.
15 (Here is/I will now give you) a list of the people-groups who were descendants of Esau. His oldest son Eliphaz was the ancestor of the Teman people-group, the Omar people-group, the Zepho people-group, the Kenaz people-group,
Desse äro de Förstar ibland Esaus barn: Eliphas barn, den första Esaus sons, voro desse: den Försten Theman, den Försten Omar, den Försten Zepho, den Försten Kenas,
16 the Korah people-group, the Gatam people-group, and the Amalek people-group. They were descendants of Eliphaz and of Esau’s wife Adah. They lived in the Edom region.
Den Försten Korah, den Försten Gatham, den Försten Amalek. Desse äro de Förstar af Eliphas i Edoms lande; och äro barn af Ada.
17 The sons of Esau’s son Reuel were ancestors of the Nahath, Zerah, Shammah, and Mizzah people-groups. They were descended from Esau’s wife Basemath. They also lived in Edom.
Och desse äro Reguels barn, Esau sons: Den Försten Nahath, den Försten Serah, den Försten Samma, den Försten Missa. Desse äro de Förstar af Reguel uti de Edomeers lande; och äro barn af Basmath, Esaus hustru.
18 The sons of Esau’s wife Oholibamah, whose mother was Anah, were ancestors of the Jeush, Jalam, and Korah people-groups.
Desse äro barn af Aholibama, Esaus hustru: Den Försten Jeus, den Försten Jaelam, den Försten Korah. Desse äro de Förstar af Aholibama Anas dotter, Esaus hustru.
19 That is the list of the sons of Esau, and the people-groups who were their descendants.
Desse äro Esaus barn, och deras Förstar; han är Edom.
20 (This is/I will now give you) a list of the descendants of Seir, who belonged to the Hor people-group, who were the first people-group who lived in the Edom region: Lotan, Shobal, Zibeon, Anah,
Men de barn af Seir den Horeen, som i landena bodde, äro desse: Lotan, Sobal, Zibeon, Ana,
21 Dishon, Ezer, and Dishan. Those seven men became ancestors of people-groups. Each of the people-groups had the same name as the name of their ancestor.
Dison, Ezer och Disan. Desse äro de Förstar ibland de Horeer, alle Seirs barn i Edoms lande.
22 The sons of Lotan were Hori and Heman and Lotan’s sister was Timna.
Men Lotans barn voro desse: Hori och Hemam; och Lotans syster het Thimna.
23 The sons of Shobal were Alvan, Manahath, Ebal, Shepho, and Onam.
Sobals barn voro desse: Alvan, Manahat, Ebal, Sepho och Onam.
24 The sons of Zibeon were Aiah and Anah. This Anah was the one who discovered the hot springs in the desert while he was taking care of his father Zibeon’s donkeys.
Zibeons barn voro: Aja och Ana: Denne är den Ana, som i öknene påfann mular, då han vaktade sins faders Zibeons åsnar.
25 Anah had two children—a son named Dishon and a daughter named Oholibamah.
Men Anas barn voro: Dison och Aholibama, det är Anas dotter.
26 Dishon’s sons were Hemdan, Eshban, Ithran, and Keran.
Disons barn voro: Hemdan, Esban, Jithran och Cheran.
27 Ezer’s sons were Bilhan, Zaavan, and Akan.
Ezers barn voro: Bilhan, Saavan och Akan.
28 Dishan’s sons were Uz and Aran.
Disans barn voro: Uz och Aran.
29 The people-groups who were descendants of Hor lived in the Seir/Edom region. The names of the people-groups are Lotan, Shobal, Zibeon, Anah, Dishon, Ezer, and Dishan.
Desse äro de Förstar ibland de Horeer: Den Försten Lotan, den Försten Sobal, den Försten Zibeon, den Försten Ana.
Den Försten Dison, den Försten Ezer, den Försten Disan. Desse äro de Förstar ibland de Horeer, de som regerade i Seirs lande.
31 These are the names of the kings who ruled in Edom before any kings ruled over Israel.
Men de Konungar, som i Edoms lande regerade, förra än Israels barn Konungar hade, äro desse:
32 Beor’s son Bela became the first king in Edom. The city where he lived was named Dinhabah.
Bela var Konung i Edom, Beors son; och hans stad het Dinhaba.
33 When Bela died, Zerah’s son Jobab/became the king. He was from Bozrah [city].
Och då Bela blef död, vardt Jobab Konung i hans stad, Seras son af Bozra.
34 When Jobab died, Husham became the king. He was from the region where the Teman people-group lived.
Då Jobab blef död, vardt Husam utaf de Themaneers lande Konung i hans stad.
35 When Husham died, Bedad’s son Hadan became the king. Husham’s army fought the army of the Midian people-group in the Moab region and defeated them. The city where Husham lived was Avith.
Då Husam blef död, vardt Konung i hans stad Hadad Bedads son, den som slog de Midianiter på de Moabiters mark; och hans stad het Avith.
36 When Hadad died, Samlah became the king. He was from Masrekah [town].
Då Hadad blef död, vardt Samla af Masreka Konung i hans stad.
37 When Samlah died, Shaul became the king. He was from Rehoboth [town] along the [Euphrates] river.
Då Samla blef död, vardt Konung i hans stad Saul af Rehoboth vid älfvena.
38 When Shaul died, Achbor’s son Baal-Hanan became king.
Då Saul blef död, vardt Baalhanan Achbors son Konung i hans stad.
39 When Achbor’s son Baal-Hanan died, Hadad became king. The city where he lived was named Pau. His wife’s name was Mehetabel. She was the daughter of Matred, who was the daughter of Me-Zahab.
Då Baalhanan Achbors son blef död, vardt Hadar Konung i hans stad: Och hans stad het Pagu; och hans hustru het Mehetabeel, Matreds dotter, och Mesahabs dotter.
40 (Here is/I will now give you) a list of all the people-groups that were descendants of Esau: Timna, Alvah, Jetheth, Oholibamah, Elah, Pinon, Kenaz, Teman, Mibzar, Magdiel, and Iram. They all lived in the Edom region. The land where each people-group lived got the same name as the name of the people-group.
Alltså heta de Förstar af Esau i deras slägter, rummom och namnom: Den Försten Thimna, den Försten Alva, den Försten Jetheth,
Den Försten Aholibama, den Försten Ela, den Försten Pinon,
Den Försten Kenas, den Försten Theman, den Försten Mibzar,
Den Försten Magdiel, den Försten Iram. Desse äro de Förstar i Edom, såsom de bott hafva uti deras arfvelande. Och Esau är fadren till de Edomeer.
