Genesis 36
1 (Here is/I will now give you) a list of the descendants of Esau, whose other name was Edom.
Et c'est ici l'histoire d'Esaü, qui est Edom.
2 Esau married three women from the Canaan region: Adah, the daughter of Elon from the Heth people-group; Oholibamah, who was the daughter of Anah and granddaughter of Zibeon from the Hiv people-group;
Esaü prit ses femmes parmi les filles de Canaan: Ada, fille d'Elon, le Héthicn, et Oholibama, fille d'Ana, fille de Tsibéon, le Hévite, et
3 and Basemath, who was the daughter of Ishmael and sister of Nebaioth.
Bosmath, fille d'Ismaël, sœur de Nebaioth.
4 Esau’s wife Adah gave birth to Eliphaz. Basemath gave birth to Reuel.
Et Ada enfanta à Esaü Eliphaz, et Bosmath enfanta Reguel.
5 Oholibamah gave birth to Jeush, Jalam, and Korah. All these sons of Esau were born while he was living in the Canaan region.
Et Oholibama enfanta Jeüs et Jaelam et Corah. Tels sont les fils d'Esaü, qui lui naquirent dans le pays de Canaan.
6 Jacob and Esau had very many possessions. The result was that they needed more land for their livestock. The land where they were living was not big enough for both of them. They had too much livestock. So Esau, whose other name was Edom, had taken his wives and sons and daughters and all the other members of his household, his sheep and goats and his other animals, and all the other things he had obtained in Canaan land, and they had moved to an area that was away from Jacob.
Et Esaü prit ses femmes et ses fils et ses filles et toutes les personnes de sa maison, et ses troupeaux et tout son bétail et tout son bien qu'il avait acquis au pays de Canaan, et se transporta dans un [autre] pays à distance de Jacob, son frère.
Car leurs biens étaient trop considérables pour qu'ils restassent ensemble, et le pays de leur séjour ne suffisait pas pour les contenir à cause de leurs troupeaux.
8 They went to live in the Seir hilly area.
Et Esaü s'était établi dans la montagne de Séïr. Esaü est Edom.
9 (Here is/I will now give you) another list of the male descendants of Esau. He was the ancestor of the Edom people-group who live in the Seir area.
Et c'est ici l'histoire d'Esaü, père des Edomites dans la montagne de Séïr.
10 Esau’s wife Adah gave birth to Eliphaz, and Esau’s wife Basemath gave birth to Reuel.
Voici les noms des fils d'Esaü: Eliphaz, fils d'Ada, femme d'Esaü, Reguel, fils de Bosmath, femme d'Esaü.
11 The sons of Eliphaz were Teman, Omar, Zepho, Gatam, and Kenaz.
Et les fils d'Eliphaz furent: Therman, Omar, Tsepho, et Gaetham et Kenaz.
12 Esau’s son Eliphaz also had a (concubine/female slave whom he took as a secondary wife). Her name was Timna. She gave birth to Amalek. Those six men were grandsons of Esau’s wife Adah.
Et Thimna était la concubine d'Eliphaz, fils d'Esaü, et elle enfanta Amalek à Eliphaz. Tels sont les fils d'Ada, femme d'Esaü.
13 Reuel’s sons were Nahath, Zerah, Shammah, and Mizzah. They were grandsons of Esau’s wife Basemath.
Et voici les fils de Reguel: Nahath et Zerah, Samma et Mizza. Tels furent les fils de Bosmath, femme d'Esaü.
14 Esau’s wife Oholibamah, who was the daughter of Anah and granddaughter of Zibeon, gave birth to three sons: Jeush, Jalam, and Korah.
Et voici les fils d'Oholibama, fille d'Ana, fille de Tsibéon, femme d'Esaü: elle enfanta à Esaü Jehus et Jaelam et Corah.
15 (Here is/I will now give you) a list of the people-groups who were descendants of Esau. His oldest son Eliphaz was the ancestor of the Teman people-group, the Omar people-group, the Zepho people-group, the Kenaz people-group,
Voici les chefs des fils d'Esaü: des fils d'Eliphaz, premier-né d'Esaü: le chef de Theiman, le chef d'Omar, le chef de Tsepho,
16 the Korah people-group, the Gatam people-group, and the Amalek people-group. They were descendants of Eliphaz and of Esau’s wife Adah. They lived in the Edom region.
le chef de Kenaz, le chef de Corah, le chef de Gaetham, le chef d'Amalek. Tels sont les chefs d'Eliphaz au pays d'Edom, tels les fils de Ada.
17 The sons of Esau’s son Reuel were ancestors of the Nahath, Zerah, Shammah, and Mizzah people-groups. They were descended from Esau’s wife Basemath. They also lived in Edom.
Et voici les fils de Reguel, fils d'Esaü: le chef de Nahath, le chef de Zerah, le chef de Samma, le chef de Mizza. Tels sont les chefs de Reguel au pays d'Edom, tels les fils de Bosmath, femme d'Esaü.
18 The sons of Esau’s wife Oholibamah, whose mother was Anah, were ancestors of the Jeush, Jalam, and Korah people-groups.
Et voici les fils d'Oholibama, femme d'Esaü: le chef de Jehus, le chef de Jaelam, le chef de Corah. Tels sont les fils d'Oholibama, fille de Ana, femme d'Esaü.
19 That is the list of the sons of Esau, and the people-groups who were their descendants.
Tels sont les fils d'Esaü, tels leurs chefs; il est le même que Edom.
20 (This is/I will now give you) a list of the descendants of Seir, who belonged to the Hor people-group, who were the first people-group who lived in the Edom region: Lotan, Shobal, Zibeon, Anah,
Voici les fils de Séir, le Horite, habitants du pays: Lotan et Sobal et Tsibéon, et Ana
21 Dishon, Ezer, and Dishan. Those seven men became ancestors of people-groups. Each of the people-groups had the same name as the name of their ancestor.
et Dison et Etser et Disan. Tels sont les chefs des Horites, des fils de Séir au pays d'Edom.
22 The sons of Lotan were Hori and Heman and Lotan’s sister was Timna.
Et les fils de Lotan furent: Hori et Heimam, et la sœur de Lotan était Thimna.
23 The sons of Shobal were Alvan, Manahath, Ebal, Shepho, and Onam.
Et voici les fils de Sobal: Alvan et Manahath, et Eibal, Sepho et Onam.
24 The sons of Zibeon were Aiah and Anah. This Anah was the one who discovered the hot springs in the desert while he was taking care of his father Zibeon’s donkeys.
Et voici les fils de Tsibéon: Aja et Ana; c'est cet Ana qui trouva les sources chaudes dans le désert en gardant les ânes de Tsibeon, son père.
25 Anah had two children—a son named Dishon and a daughter named Oholibamah.
Et voici les fils d'Ana: Dison et Oholibama, fille d'Ana.
26 Dishon’s sons were Hemdan, Eshban, Ithran, and Keran.
Et voici les fils de Dison: Hemdan et Esban et Jithran et Chran.
27 Ezer’s sons were Bilhan, Zaavan, and Akan.
Voici les fils de Etser: Bilhan et Zahvan et Acan.
28 Dishan’s sons were Uz and Aran.
Voici les fils de Disan: Uz et Aran.
29 The people-groups who were descendants of Hor lived in the Seir/Edom region. The names of the people-groups are Lotan, Shobal, Zibeon, Anah, Dishon, Ezer, and Dishan.
Voici les chefs des Horites: le chef de Lotan, le chef de Sobal, le chef de Tsibéon, le chef de Ana,
le chef de Dison, le chef de Etser, le chef de Disan. Tels sont les chefs des Horites, leurs chefs au pays de Séir.
31 These are the names of the kings who ruled in Edom before any kings ruled over Israel.
Et voici les rois qui régnèrent au pays d'Edom, avant que des rois régnassent sur les enfants d'Israël.
32 Beor’s son Bela became the first king in Edom. The city where he lived was named Dinhabah.
Et Béla, fils de Beor, régna en Edom; et le nom de sa ville était Dinaba.
33 When Bela died, Zerah’s son Jobab/became the king. He was from Bozrah [city].
Et Béla mourut, et il fut remplacé comme roi par Jobab, fils de Zerah, de Botsra.
34 When Jobab died, Husham became the king. He was from the region where the Teman people-group lived.
Et Jobab mourut, et il fut remplacé comme roi par Husani du pays des Theimanites.
35 When Husham died, Bedad’s son Hadan became the king. Husham’s army fought the army of the Midian people-group in the Moab region and defeated them. The city where Husham lived was Avith.
Et Husam mourut et il fut remplacé comme roi par Hadad, fils de Bedad, qui défit les Madianites dans les campagnes de Moab; et le nom de sa ville était Havith.
36 When Hadad died, Samlah became the king. He was from Masrekah [town].
Et Hadad mourut, et il fut remplacé comme roi par Samla de Masréca.
37 When Samlah died, Shaul became the king. He was from Rehoboth [town] along the [Euphrates] river.
Et Samla mourut, et il fut remplacé comme roi par Saul, de Rechoboth sur le fleuve.
38 When Shaul died, Achbor’s son Baal-Hanan became king.
Et Saul mourut, et il fut remplacé comme roi par Baal-Hanan, fils de Achbor.
39 When Achbor’s son Baal-Hanan died, Hadad became king. The city where he lived was named Pau. His wife’s name was Mehetabel. She was the daughter of Matred, who was the daughter of Me-Zahab.
Et Baal-Hanan, fils de Achbor, mourut, et il fut remplacé comme roi par Hadar; et le nom de sa ville était Pagu, et le nom de sa femme Mehetabeel, fille de Matred, fille de Mezaab.
40 (Here is/I will now give you) a list of all the people-groups that were descendants of Esau: Timna, Alvah, Jetheth, Oholibamah, Elah, Pinon, Kenaz, Teman, Mibzar, Magdiel, and Iram. They all lived in the Edom region. The land where each people-group lived got the same name as the name of the people-group.
Et voici les noms des chefs d'Esaü, selon leurs tribus, leurs territoires, leurs noms: le chef de Thimna, le chef de Alva, le chef de Jétheth,
le chef de Oholibama, le chef d'Ela, le chef de Pinon,
le chef de Kenaz, le chef de Theiman, le chef de Mibtsar,
le chef de Magdiel, le chef de Iram. Tels sont les chefs d'Edom selon leurs territoires dans le pays de leur propriété. Tel est Esaü, père des Ëdomites.
