Genesis 11
1 At first, all the people in [MTY] the world spoke the same language [DOU].
ഭൂമിയിൽ ഒക്കെയും ഒരേ ഭാഷയും ഒരേ വാക്കും ആയിരുന്നു.
2 As people moved further east, they arrived at a plain in Babylonia region and began to live there.
എന്നാൽ അവർ കിഴക്കോട്ടു യാത്ര ചെയ്തു, ശിനാർദേശത്തു ഒരു സമഭൂമി കണ്ടു അവിടെ കുടിയിരുന്നു.
3 Then they said to each other, “(Hey/Come on), let’s form bricks and bake them to make them hard, for building!” So they used bricks instead of stones, and used tar instead of (mortar/a mixture of cement, sand and lime) to hold them together.
അവർ തമ്മിൽ: വരുവിൻ, നാം ഇഷ്ടക അറുത്തു ചുടുക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അങ്ങനെ അവർ ഇഷ്ടക കല്ലായും പശമണ്ണു കുമ്മായമായും ഉപയോഗിച്ചു.
4 They said, “Hey, let’s build a city for ourselves! We also ought to build a very high tower that reaches up to the sky! In that way we will become famous! If we do not do this, we will be scattered all over the earth!”
വരുവിൻ; നാം ഭൂതലത്തിൽ ഒക്കെയും ചിതറിപ്പോകാതിരിപ്പാൻ ഒരു പട്ടണവും ആകാശത്തോളം എത്തുന്ന ഒരു ഗോപുരവും പണിക; നമുക്കു ഒരു പേരുമുണ്ടാക്കുക എന്നു അവർ പറഞ്ഞു.
5 So they began to build the city and the tower. Then Yahweh looked down and saw the city and the tower that those [puny] men were building.
മനുഷ്യർ പണിത പട്ടണവും ഗോപുരവും കാണേണ്ടതിന്നു യഹോവ ഇറങ്ങിവന്നു.
6 Yahweh said, “These people are one group that all speak the same language. If they have begun to do this now, then (there is nothing that they will decide to do that will be impossible for them/they will be able to do whatever they decide to do) [LIT]!
അപ്പോൾ യഹോവ: ഇതാ, ജനം ഒന്നു, അവർക്കെല്ലാവർക്കും ഭാഷയും ഒന്നു; ഇതും അവർ ചെയ്തു തുടങ്ങുന്നു; അവർ ചെയ്‌വാൻ നിരൂപിക്കുന്നതൊന്നും അവർക്കു അസാദ്ധ്യമാകയില്ല.
7 So, okay/now, we will go down there and cause there to be many different languages, so that they will not be able to understand each other.”
വരുവിൻ; നാം ഇറങ്ങിച്ചെന്നു, അവർ തമ്മിൽ ഭാഷ തിരിച്ചറിയാതിരിപ്പാൻ അവരുടെ ഭാഷ കലക്കിക്കളക എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.
8 So Yahweh did that. As a result, the people stopped building the city, and Yahweh caused them to disperse all over the earth.
അങ്ങനെ യഹോവ അവരെ അവിടെനിന്നു ഭൂതലത്തിലെങ്ങും ചിന്നിച്ചു; അവർ പട്ടണം പണിയുന്നതു വിട്ടുകളഞ്ഞു.
9 The city was called Babel which means ‘confusion’, because there Yahweh caused the people to become confused because the people [MTY] spoke [different languages that the others could not understand], not just one language. From there Yahweh caused them to disperse all over the earth.
സർവ്വഭൂമിയിലെയും ഭാഷ യഹോവ അവിടെവെച്ചു കലക്കിക്കളകയാൽ അതിന്നു ബാബേൽ എന്നു പേരായി; യഹോവ അവരെ അവിടെനിന്നു ഭൂതലത്തിൽ എങ്ങും ചിന്നിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.
10 (This is a bigger list/I will now tell you more) of the descendants of Shem: Two years after the flood, when Shem was 100 years old, he became the father of Arpachshad.
ശേമിന്റെ വംശപാരമ്പര്യമാവിതു: ശേമിന്നു നൂറു വയസ്സായപ്പോൾ അവൻ ജലപ്രളയത്തിന്നു പിമ്പു രണ്ടു സംവത്സരം കഴിഞ്ഞശേഷം അർപ്പക്ഷാദിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.
11 After Arpachshad was born, Shem lived 500 more years and had more sons and daughters.
അർപ്പക്ഷാദിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചശേഷം ശേം അഞ്ഞൂറു സംവത്സരം ജീവിച്ചിരുന്നു പുത്രന്മാരെയും പുത്രിമാരെയും ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.
12 When Arphachshad was 35 years old, he became the father of Shelah.
അർപ്പക്ഷാദിന്നു മുപ്പത്തഞ്ചു വയസ്സായപ്പോൾ അവൻ ശാലഹിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.
13 After Shelah was born, Arpachshad lived 403 more years and became the father of more sons and daughters.
ശാലഹിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചശേഷം അർപ്പക്ഷാദ് നാനൂറ്റിമൂന്നു സംവത്സരം ജീവിച്ചിരുന്നു പുത്രന്മാരെയും പുത്രിമാരെയും ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.
14 When Shelah was 30 years old, he became the father of Eber.
ശാലഹിന്നു മുപ്പതു വയസ്സായപ്പോൾ അവൻ ഏബെരിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.
15 After Eber was born, Shelah lived 403 more years and became the father of other sons and daughters.
ഏബെരിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചശേഷം ശാലഹ് നാനൂറ്റി മൂന്നു സംവത്സരം ജീവിച്ചിരുന്നു പുത്രന്മാരെയും പുത്രിമാരെയും ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.
16 When Eber was 34 years old, he became the father of Peleg.
ഏബെരിന്നു മുപ്പത്തിനാലു വയസ്സായപ്പോൾ അവൻ പേലെഗിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.
17 After Peleg was born, Eber lived 430 more years and became the father of other sons and daughters.
പേലെഗിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചശേഷം ഏബെർ നാനൂറ്റിമുപ്പതു സംവത്സരം ജീവിച്ചിരുന്നു പുത്രന്മാരെയും പുത്രിമാരെയും ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.
18 When Peleg was 30 years old, he became the father of Reu.
പേലെഗിന്നു മുപ്പതു വയ്സായപ്പോൾ അവൻ രെയൂവിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.
19 After Reu was born, Peleg lived 209 more years and became the father of other sons and daughters.
രെയൂവിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചശേഷം പേലെഗ് ഇരൂനൂറ്റൊമ്പതു സംവത്സരം ജീവിച്ചിരുന്നു പുത്രന്മാരെയും പുത്രിമാരെയും ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.
20 When Reu was 32 years old, he became the father of Serug.
രെയൂവിന്നു മുപ്പത്തിരണ്ടു വയസ്സായപ്പോൾ അവൻ ശെരൂഗിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.
21 After Serug was born, Reu lived 207 more years and became the father of other sons and daughters.
ശെരൂഗിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചശേഷം രെയൂ ഇരുനൂറ്റേഴു സംവത്സരം ജീവിച്ചിരുന്നു പുത്രന്മാരെയും പുത്രിമാരെയും ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.
22 When Serug was 30 years old, he became the father of Nahor.
ശെരൂഗിന്നു മുപ്പതു വയസ്സായപ്പോൾ അവൻ നാഹോരിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.
23 After Nahor was born, Serug lived 200 more years and became the father of other sons and daughters.
നാഹോരിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചശേഷം ശെരൂഗ് ഇരുനൂറു സംവത്സരം ജീവിച്ചിരുന്നു പുത്രന്മാരെയും പുത്രിമാരെയും ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.
24 When Nahor was 29 years old, he became the father of Terah.
നാഹോരിന്നു ഇരുപത്തൊമ്പതു വയസ്സായപ്പോൾ അവൻ തേരഹിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.
25 After Terah was born, Nahor lived 119 more years and became the father of other sons and daughters.
തേരഹിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചശേഷം നാഹോർ നൂറ്റി പത്തൊമ്പതു സംവത്സരം ജീവിച്ചിരുന്നു പുത്രന്മാരെയും പുത്രിമാരെയും ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.
26 When Terah was 70 years old, his son Abram was born. Later, two other sons, Nahor and Haran were born.
തേരഹിന്നു എഴുപതു വയസ്സായപ്പോൾ അവൻ അബ്രാം, നാഹോർ, ഹാരാൻ എന്നിവരെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.
27 (This is/I will now give) a list of the descendants of Terah: Terah’s sons were Abram, Nahor, and Haran. Haran’s son was named Lot.
തേരഹിന്റെ വംശപാരമ്പര്യമാവിതു: തേരഹ് അബ്രാമിനെയും നാഹോരിനെയും ഹാരാനെയും ജനിപ്പിച്ചു; ഹാരാൻ ലോത്തിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.
28 Haran died before his father died. He died in Ur [city] in Chaldea land, where he was born.
എന്നാൽ ഹാരാൻ തന്റെ ജന്മദേശത്തുവെച്ചു, കൽദയരുടെ ഒരു പട്ടണമായ ഊരിൽവെച്ചു തന്നേ, തന്റെ അപ്പനായ തേരഹിന്നു മുമ്പെ മരിച്ചുപോയി.
29 Abram and Nahor both married. Abram’s wife was named Sarai, and Nahor’s wife was named Milcah. Milcah and her younger sister Iscah were the daughters of Haran.
അബ്രാമും നാഹോരും ഭാര്യമാരെ എടുത്തു; അബ്രാമിന്റെ ഭാര്യക്കു സാറായി എന്നും നാഹോരിന്റെ ഭാര്യക്കു മിൽക്കാ എന്നും പേർ. ഇവൾ മിൽക്കയുടെയും യിസ്കയുടെയും അപ്പനായ ഹാരാന്റെ മകൾ തന്നേ.
30 Sarai was unable to bear any children.
സാറായി മച്ചിയായിരുന്നു; അവൾക്കു സന്തതി ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നില്ല.
31 Terah decided to leave Ur and go to live in Canaan land. So he took his son Abram and his grandson Lot, the son of Haran, and Abram’s wife Sarai with him. But instead of going to Canaan, they stopped at Haran [town] and lived there.
തേരഹ് തന്റെ മകനായ അബ്രാമിനെയും ഹാരാന്റെ മകനായ തന്റെ പൗത്രൻ ലോത്തിനെയും തന്റെ മകനായ അബ്രാമിന്റെ ഭാര്യയായി മരുമകളായ സാറായിയെയും കൂട്ടി കൽദയരുടെ പട്ടണമായ ഊരിൽനിന്നു കനാൻദേശത്തേക്കു പോകുവാൻ പുറപ്പെട്ടു; അവർ ഹാരാൻ വരെ വന്നു അവിടെ പാർത്തു.
32 When Terah was 205 years old, he died there in Haran.
തേരഹിന്റെ ആയുഷ്കാലം ഇരുനൂറ്റഞ്ചു സംവത്സരം ആയിരുന്നു; തേരഹ് ഹാരാനിൽവെച്ചു മരിച്ചു.
