< Genesis 11 >

1 At first, all the people in [MTY] the world spoke the same language [DOU].
Phatkhat lai tah chun vannoiya mihem jousen pao khat bou ana tho uvin, apao cheng manu jong tha khat cheh ana hi.
2 As people moved further east, they arrived at a plain in Babylonia region and began to live there.
Hiche lai chun miho chu nisolama konin ahung kichon uvin ahile Shinar gamsunga chun phaicham mun ong lentah ahin mudoh uvin, hikoma chun acheng tauve.
3 Then they said to each other, “(Hey/Come on), let’s form bricks and bake them to make them hard, for building!” So they used bricks instead of stones, and used tar instead of (mortar/a mixture of cement, sand and lime) to hold them together.
Hichun ama ho khat le khat aki hou un, “Eihon cheh gadengu hitin goutah lheng'u hite,” akiti uvin; hiti chun song panna pang dingin cheh amang uvin, songlou dingin leingan amang uve.
4 They said, “Hey, let’s build a city for ourselves! We also ought to build a very high tower that reaches up to the sky! In that way we will become famous! If we do not do this, we will be scattered all over the earth!”
Hichun amahon hitin aseiuve, “Hung un eihon khopi khat kisah uhitin, chule in sangtah khat a tingvum vantoh kibang khat sadoh uhitin, vannoiya imin'u ki thansah uhite, achuti loule leiset chunga iki moh thethang gam ding'u ahi,” atiuve.
5 So they began to build the city and the tower. Then Yahweh looked down and saw the city and the tower that those [puny] men were building.
Hinlah Pakai Pathen chu mihemten khopi asah'u le insang asah doh'u veding in Pakai ahung kumlha tai.
6 Yahweh said, “These people are one group that all speak the same language. If they have begun to do this now, then (there is nothing that they will decide to do that will be impossible for them/they will be able to do whatever they decide to do) [LIT]!
Hichun Pakai Pathen in aseiye, “Vetan mipiho hi aki pumkhat thei lheh jeng uvin chule pao khatseh bou atho uvin, hijeh chun phat chomkhat jou teng le amaho hin ipi hijongle abolgot ho u-chu ajo lel lou beh dingu ahi.
7 So, okay/now, we will go down there and cause there to be many different languages, so that they will not be able to understand each other.”
Hijeh chun hung un eiho ga kumsuh'u hitin apao'u ga suhkhen peh uhite, chutile khat le khat athusei kihet mon um tauvinte,” ati.
8 So Yahweh did that. As a result, the people stopped building the city, and Yahweh caused them to disperse all over the earth.
Hiti chun Pakai Pathen in leiset chung ah abon uvin, athe cheh soh hel'in hiche apat'a chu khopi insah chu hung bouiya ahiuve.
9 The city was called Babel which means ‘confusion’, because there Yahweh caused the people to become confused because the people [MTY] spoke [different languages that the others could not understand], not just one language. From there Yahweh caused them to disperse all over the earth.
Hijeh a chu hiche kopi insang kisah chu Babel kiti ahi, ajeh chu Pathen in mipi ho lung asuhboui a paochom paochom athosah ahi tia hi Pathen in vannoiya ana thecheh'u ahi.
