< Ezekiel 48 >

1 “Here is a list of the tribes of Israel [and the territory that each tribe is to receive]: [The tribe of] Dan will be allotted land at the northern boundary [of Israel]: It will extend east from the Mediterranean Sea east to Hethlon [city], then from there to Hamath Pass, and on to [the town of] Hazar-Enan south of Damascus, between Damascus and Hamath. The tribe of Dan will receive land on the northern border [of Israel] from the eastern end [of the country] west to the [Mediterranean] Sea.
And these [are] [the] names of the tribes from [the] end of north-ward to [the] hand of [the] road of Hethlon - Lebo Hamath Hazar Enan [the] border of Damascus north-ward to [the] hand of Hamath and they will belong to him [the] side of [the] east the sea Dan one [portion].
2 South of their land will be the territory [for the tribe] of Asher.
And at - [the] border of Dan from [the] side of [the] east to [the] side of west-ward Asher one [portion].
3 South of their land will be the territory [for the tribe] of Naphtali.
And at - [the] border of Asher from [the] side of east-ward and to [the] side of west-ward Naphtali one [portion].
4 South of their land will be the territory [for the tribe] of Manasseh.
And at - [the] border of Naphtali from [the] side of east-ward to [the] side of west-ward Manasseh one [portion].
5 South of their land will be the territory [for the tribe] of Ephraim.
And at - [the] border of Manasseh from [the] side of east-ward to [the] side of west-ward Ephraim one [portion].
6 South of their land will be the territory [for the tribe] of Reuben.
And at - [the] border of Ephraim from [the] side of [the] east and to [the] side of west-ward Reuben one [portion].
7 South of their land will be the territory [for the tribe] of Judah.
And at - [the] border of Reuben from [the] side of [the] east to [the] side of west-ward Judah one [portion].
8 South of their land will be an area set apart for special use. The temple will be in the center of that area.
And at [the] border of Judah from [the] side of [the] east to [the] side of west-ward it will be the contribution which you will offer up [will be] five and twenty thousand [cubits] [the] breadth and [the] length [will be] like one of the portions from [the] side of east-ward to [the] side of west-ward and it will be the sanctuary in [the] middle of it.
9 It must be (8.3 miles/13.3 km.) long and (6.7 miles/10.6 km.) wide.
The contribution which you will contribute to Yahweh [the] length [will be] five and twenty thousand [cubits] and [the] breadth [will be] ten thousand [cubits].
10 For the priests, there must be a strip of land (8.3 miles/13.3 km.) long and (3.3 miles/5.3 km.) wide. The temple will be in the center of that area.
And to these it will belong [the] contribution of holiness to the priests north-ward five and twenty thousand [cubits] and west-ward [the] breadth [will be] ten thousand [cubits] and east-ward [the] breadth [will be] ten thousand [cubits] and south-ward [the] length [will be] five and twenty thousand [cubits] and it will be [the] sanctuary of Yahweh in [the] middle of it.
11 That area is for the priests who are descendants of Zadok. They are ones who served me faithfully and did not turn away from me, like most of the descendants of Levi and the other Israeli people did.
To the priests the consecrated [one] from [the] sons of Zadok who they kept charge my who not they went astray when went astray [the] people of Israel just as they went astray the Levites.
12 When the land is distributed, that area must be given to the priests; it is land that is very sacred. It will be next to the land that will be given to the other descendants of Levi.
And it will belong to them a contribution from [the] contribution of the land a holy place of holy places to [the] border of the Levites.
13 The land that will be allotted to the [other] descendants of Levi will be the same size as the land allotted to the priests. So together, those two portions of land will be (8.3 miles/13.3 km.) long and (6.6 miles/10.6 km.) wide.
And the Levites close to [the] border of the priests [will be] five and twenty thousand [cubits] [the] length and [the] breadth [will be] ten thousand [cubits] all [the] length [will be] five and twenty thousand [cubits] and [the] breadth [will be] ten thousand [cubits].
14 None of this special land will ever be permitted to be sold or traded or used by other people, because it belongs to me, Yahweh. It is set apart for me.
And not they will sell any of it and not anyone will exchange and not (one will make pass over *Q(K)*) [the] choicest of the land for [it is] a holy place to Yahweh.
15 The rest [of that sacred area, a strip of land] (8.3 miles/13.3 km.) long and (1.7 miles/2.65 km.) wide will be allotted for other people to use. It will be land where they will be permitted to build homes and have pasturelands. There will be a city at the center.
And five thousand [cubits] which remain in the breadth on [the] face of five and twenty thousand [cubits] [will be] a profane area it for the city for dwelling place and for open land and it will be the city (in [the] middle of it. *Q(K)*)
16 The city will be square, (1.5 miles/2.4 km.) on each side.
And these [will be] measurements its [the] side of [the] north [will be] five hundred and four thousand [cubits] and [the] side of [the] south [will be] five (*Q(K)*) hundred and four thousand [cubits] and from [the] side of [the] east [will be] five hundred and four thousand [cubits] and [the] side of west-ward [will be] five hundred and four thousand [cubits].
17 Around the city there will be an area for farming, that will be (150 yards/135 meters) in each direction.
And it will belong open land to the city north-ward fifty and two hundred [cubits] and south-ward fifty and two hundred [cubits] and east-ward fifty and two hundred [cubits] and west-ward fifty and two hundred [cubits].
18 Outside the city, to the east and to the west, there will be a farming area. It will extend (3 miles/4.8 km.) to the east and (3 miles/4.8 km.) to the west. [Men who work there] will produce food for the people who work in the city.
And [what] remains in the length close to - [the] contribution of holiness [will be] ten thousand [cubits] east-ward and ten thousand [cubits] west-ward and it will be close to [the] contribution of holiness and it will become (produce its *Q(k)*) food for [the] workers of the city.
19 [Some of] those who come from the various Israeli tribes to work in the city may also work on the farmland.
And the worker the city they will serve it from all [the] tribes of Israel.
20 That entire special area, including the sacred lands and the city, will be a square that is (8.3 miles/13.3 km.) on each side.
All the contribution [will be] five and twenty thousand [cubits] by five and twenty thousand [cubits] fourth you will offer up [the] contribution of holiness to [the] possession of the city.
21 The areas to the east and to the west of the sacred area and the city will belong to the king. One area will extend east to the eastern boundary of Israel and the other will extend west to the Mediterranean Sea. The sacred area in which the temple is located will be in the middle.
And [what] remains [will belong] to the prince from this - and from this - of [the] contribution of holiness and of [the] possession of the city to [the] face of [the] five and twenty thousand [cubits] - a contribution to [the] border of east-ward and west-ward on [the] face of five and twenty thousand [cubits] on [the] border of west-ward close to [the] portions [will belong] to the prince and it will be [the] contribution of holiness and [the] sanctuary of the house (in [the] middle of it. *Q(K)*)
22 The area that belongs to the king will be between the land [of the tribe] of [to the north] and the land [of the tribe] of Benjamin [to the south].
And from [the] possession of the Levites and from [the] possession of the city in [the] middle of [that] which to the prince it will belong between - [the] border of Judah and between [the] border of Benjamin to the prince it will belong.
23 South of that special area, each of the other tribes must be allotted one portion of land that extends from the eastern [boundary of Israel] west [to the Mediterranean Sea]. [Beginning at the north] will be land for [the tribe of] Benjamin.
And [the] remainder of the tribes from [the] side of east-ward to [the] side of west-ward Benjamin one [portion].
24 South of their land will be the territory for [the tribe of] Simeon.
And at - [the] border of Benjamin from [the] side of east-ward to [the] side of west-ward Simeon one [portion].
25 South of their land will be the territory for [the tribe of] Issachar.
And at - [the] border of Simeon from [the] side of east-ward to [the] side of west-ward Issachar one [portion].
26 South of their land will be the territory for [the tribe of] Zebulun.
And at - [the] border of Issachar from [the] side of east-ward to [the] side of west-ward Zebulun one [portion].
27 South of their land will be the territory for [the tribe of] Gad.
And at - [the] border of Zebulun from [the] side of east-ward to [the] side of west-ward Gad one [portion].
28 The southern boundary of [the tribe of] Gad will extend south from Tamar to the springs at Meribah-Kadesh, and from there [to the west] along the dry riverbed at the border of Egypt to the Mediterranean Sea.
And at [the] border of Gad to [the] side of [the] south south-ward and it will be [the] border from Tamar [the] waters of Meribath Kadesh [the] wadi on the sea great.
29 That is the land that you must allot to the tribes of Israel, to belong to them permanently. [That is what I], Yahweh the Lord, declare.”
This [is] the land which you will make fall from [the] inheritance to [the] tribes of Israel and these [are] portions their [the] utterance of [the] Lord Yahweh.
30 These will be the exits from the city: On the north side, which will be (1.5 miles/2.4 km.) long,
And these [will be] [the] exits of the city from [the] side of [the] north [will be] five hundred and four thousand [cubits] [the] measurement.
31 there must be three gates; each one will have the name of one of the tribes of Israel. The first one will be named for Reuben, the next for Judah, the next for Levi.
And [the] gates of the city [will be] on [the] names of [the] tribes of Israel gates three [will be] north-ward [the] gate of Reuben one [the] gate of Judah one [the] gate of Levi one.
32 On the east side, [also] (1.5 miles/2.4 km.) long, will be gates named for Joseph, Benjamin, and Dan.
And to [the] side of east-ward [will be] five hundred and four thousand [cubits] and gates three and [the] gate of Joseph one [the] gate of Benjamin one [the] gate of Dan one.
33 On the south side, [also] (1.5 miles/2.4 km.) long, will be gates named for Simeon, Issachar, and Zebulun.
And [the] side of south-ward [will be] five hundred and four thousand [cubits] [the] measurement and gates three [the] gate of Simeon one [the] gate of Issachar one [the] gate of Zebulun one.
34 On the west side, [also] (1.5 miles/2.4 km.) long, will be gates named for Gad, Asher, and Naphtali.
[the] side of West-ward [will be] five hundred and four thousand [cubits] gates their three [the] gate of Gad one [the] gate of Asher one [the] gate of Naphtali one.
35 [So] the distance around the city will thus be (6 miles/9.6 km.). And from that time on, the name of the city will be ‘Yahweh Is There’.’
[the] circuit [will be] eight-Teen thousand [cubits] and [the] name of the city from [the] day [will be] Yahweh - [Is] There.
