Ezekiel 35
1 Yahweh gave me another message. He said,
La parole de l’Eternel me fut adressée en ces termes:
2 “You human, turn toward Edom and prophesy what will happen to its people. Say that this is what Yahweh says to them:
"Fils de l’homme, dirige ta face vers la montagne de Séir et prophétise sur elle.
3 ‘You who live near Seir Mountain [in Edom], I am opposed to you, and I will use my power [MTY] to strike you and cause your country to become a wasteland.
Tu lui diras: Ainsi parle le Seigneur Dieu Me voici contre toi, montagne de Séir! J’Étendrai ma main sur toi et je ferai de toi une solitude et un désert.
4 I will cause your country to be ruined and desolate. When that happens, people will know that I, Yahweh, [have the power to do what I say that I will do].
De tes villes je ferai une ruine, et toi, tu seras une solitude; tu sauras ainsi que je suis l’Eternel.
5 You have always been enemies of the Israeli people. You [rejoiced] when they experienced a great disaster: [their enemies attacked them with] swords, when I punished them [for the sins that they had committed].
Parce que tu nourrissais une haine invétérée et que tu as précipité les enfants d’Israël sous le tranchant de l’épée, au jour de leur malheur, à l’heure où le crime a pris fin,
6 Therefore, I, Yahweh the Lord, declare that as surely as I am alive, I will allow [your enemies] to slaughter [MTY] you and continue to slaughter you. You were happy when [LIT] others were slaughtered;
c’est pourquoi, par ma vie, dit le Seigneur Dieu, je te mettrai à sang et le sang te poursuivra! Puisque tu n’as pas eu horreur du sang, le sang te poursuivra!
7 so I will cause Seir Mountain to be abandoned/deserted, and I will get rid of anyone who enters it or leaves it.
Je ferai de la montagne de Séir un désert et une solitude, et j’en extirperai tout allant et venant.
8 I will cause your mountains to be filled with [the corpses of] those who have been killed. The corpses of those who have been killed by [your enemies’] swords will lie on your hills and in your valleys and in all your ravines.
Je joncherai ses hauteurs de ses cadavres; sur tes collines et tes vallées, dans tous tes ravins tomberont les victimes du glaive.
9 I will cause your land to be deserted forever. No one will live in your towns again. When that happens, you will know that I, Yahweh, [have the power to do what I say that I will do].
Je ferai de toi des ruines éternelles et tes villes ne seront pas restaurées; ainsi vous saurez que je suis l’Eternel.
10 You people said, “Israel and Judah will become ours. We will take over their territory!” You said that even though I, Yahweh, was still there [and protecting them].
Parce que tu disais: "Les deux nations et les deux pays seront à moi et nous en hériterons", —or, l’Eternel était là
11 Therefore, I, Yahweh the Lord, declare that as surely as I am alive, I will punish [MTY] you for being angry with my people, envying them, and hating them.
c’est pourquoi, par ma vie, dit le Seigneur Dieu, j’agirai conformément à ta fureur et à ta jalousie qui t’ont fait agir dans la haine que tu leur portais, et je me ferai connaître parmi eux, lorsque je te jugerai.
12 Then you will know that I, Yahweh, have heard all the disgusting things that you have said about the mountains in Israel. You said that they have been ruined/devastated, and that they have been given to you to occupy [MET].
Et tu sauras que moi, l’Eternel, j’ai entendu tous tes outrages, que tu as proférés contre les montagnes d’Israël, en disant: "Elles sont dévastées, c’est à nous qu’elles sont livrées en proie!"
13 When you insulted me, I heard all that you said about me.
Vous en avez eu plein la bouche contre moi, vous avez accumulé contre moi vos propos; moi, je l’ai bien entendu."
14 So this is what I, Yahweh the Lord, say: You people who live on Seir Mountain and in all the other places in Edom, when I cause your land to become desolate, everyone in the entire world will rejoice.
Ainsi donc parle le Seigneur Dieu: "Pendant que toute la terre sera dans la joie, je ferai de toi un désert.
15 You were happy when the land [MTY] of the Israeli people became desolate, so I will cause your land to become desolate. When that happens, people will know that I, Yahweh, [have the power to do what I say that I will do].’”
De même que tu t’es réjoui au sujet de l’héritage de la maison d’Israël, parce qu’il était dévasté, ainsi te ferai-je: tu seras une solitude, montagne de Séir, ainsi qu’Edom tout entier. Ils sauront alors que je suis l’Eternel."
