Ezekiel 33
1 Yahweh gave me another message. He said,
Und das Wort des HERRN erging also an mich:
2 “You human, speak to your fellow Israelis and say this to them: ‘When I bring an enemy army [MTY] to attack a country, and the people of that country choose one of their men and appoint him to be a watchman,
Menschensohn, rede mit den Kindern deines Volks und sage zu ihnen: Wenn ich das Schwert über ein Land bringe, so nimmt das Volk des Landes einen Mann aus seiner Mitte und bestellt ihn zu seinem Wächter.
3 if he sees the enemy army [MTY] coming to attack his country, and he blows a trumpet to warn the people,
Wenn nun dieser das Schwert über sein Land kommen sieht, so stößt er in die Posaune und warnt das Volk.
4 if anyone hears the trumpet and does not heed the warning, and as a result he is killed by the sword [of one of his enemies], he will be responsible for his own death [MTY].
Wenn dann jemand den Schall der Posaune hört und sich nicht warnen lassen will und das Schwert kommt und rafft ihn weg, so fällt sein Blut auf seinen Kopf!
5 If he had heeded the warning, he would have (have saved his life/still be alive). But because he heard the sound of the trumpet and did not heed that warning, his death will be his own fault.
Denn da er den Schall der Posaune hörte, sich aber nicht warnen ließ, so sei sein Blut auf ihm! Hätte er sich warnen lassen, so hätte er seine Seele errettet!
6 But if the watchman sees the enemy army [MTY] coming and does not blow the trumpet to warn the people, and one of his people is killed by an enemy sword, that person will die because of his sin, but I will consider that the watchman is responsible for that man’s death.’
Wenn aber der Wächter das Schwert kommen sieht und nicht in die Posaune stößt und das Volk nicht gewarnt wird und das Schwert kommt und aus ihnen einen Menschen wegrafft, so wird dieser zwar um seiner Missetat willen weggerafft, aber sein Blut werde ich von der Hand des Wächters fordern.
7 So, you human, I have appointed you to be a watchman for the Israeli people [MTY]. So always listen to what I say and warn the people for me.
Nun habe ich dich, o Menschensohn, dem Hause Israel zum Wächter bestellt, damit du das Wort aus meinem Munde hören und sie von mir aus warnen sollst.
8 When I say to some wicked person, ‘You wicked person, you will surely die [because of your sins,’ you must tell him that]. If you do not speak to that person to warn him that he should turn away from his sins, that wicked person will die because of his sins, but I will say that you are responsible for his death [MTY].
Wenn ich zu dem Gottlosen sage: «Du, Gottloser, sollst des Todes sterben!» und du sagst es ihm nicht, um ihn vor seinem gottlosen Wege zu warnen, so wird der Gottlose um seiner Missetat willen sterben; aber sein Blut will ich von deiner Hand fordern.
9 But if you warn that wicked person that he should turn away from his sins, and he does not do that, he will die because of his sins, but you will have saved your life.
Wenn du aber den Gottlosen vor seinem Wandel warnst, daß er sich davon abwende, er sich aber von seinem Wandel nicht abwenden will, so wird er um seiner Sünde willen sterben, du aber hast deine Seele errettet.
10 You human, say to the Israeli people, ‘This is what you all are saying: “[The guilt that we have for] disobeying God’s laws and sinning is like a heavy weight on us, and it is hurting us, and we are slowly dying. So what can we do to continue to remain alive?”’
Du nun, Menschensohn, sage zu dem Hause Israel: Ihr sprechet also: Unsere Übertretungen und unsere Sünden liegen auf uns, daß wir darunter verschmachten; wie können wir leben?
11 Say to them, ‘Yahweh the Lord says, “As surely as I am alive, I am not happy when wicked people die; I would prefer that they turn away from their wicked behavior and continue to live. So repent! Turn away from your evil behavior! You Israeli people, do you really want to die [RHQ]?”’
Sprich zu ihnen: So wahr ich lebe, spricht Gott, der HERR, ich habe kein Gefallen am Tode des Gottlosen, sondern daran, daß der Gottlose sich abwende von seinem Wege und lebe! Wendet euch ab, wendet euch ab von euren bösen Wegen! Warum wollt ihr sterben, Haus Israel?
12 Therefore, you human, say to your fellow Israelis, ‘If righteous people start to disobey me, their being righteous previously will not save them [from being punished]. And if wicked people turn away from their wicked behavior, they will not die because of the sins that they committed [previously]. And if righteous people start to sin, they will not be allowed to remain alive because of their formerly being righteous.’
Und du, Menschensohn, sage zu den Kindern deines Volkes: Den Gerechten wird seine Gerechtigkeit nicht erretten am Tage, da er sich versündigt; und den Gottlosen wird seine Gottlosigkeit nicht fällen am Tage, da er sich von seinem gottlosen Wesen abwendet, so wenig als den Gerechten seine Gerechtigkeit am Leben erhalten wird, wenn er sündigt.
13 If I tell righteous people that they will surely remain alive, but then they trust/think that because they have been righteous previously, they can start to do evil [and not be punished], I will not think about the righteous things that they did previously; they will die because of the evil things that they are doing.
Wenn ich vom Gerechten sage: «Er soll sicherlich leben!» und er verläßt sich auf seine Gerechtigkeit und tut Unrecht, so soll aller seiner Gerechtigkeit nicht mehr gedacht werden; sondern um seiner Bosheit willen, die er getan hat, soll er sterben.
14 And if I say to some wicked person, ‘You will surely die [because of your sins],’ that person may turn away from his sinful behavior and do what is just and right [DOU].
Und wenn ich zum Gottlosen sage: «Du sollst sterben!» und er wendet sich ab von seiner Sünde und tut, was recht und billig ist,
15 For example, he may return what he took from another person to guarantee [that that person would pay back what he owes], or he may return things that he has stolen, and he may obey the laws that will enable [those who obey them] to remain alive, and he will not continue to do evil things. If that happens, he will surely remain alive; he will not die [because of the sins that he committed previously].
also daß der Gottlose das Pfand wiedergibt, den Raub zurückerstattet und in den Satzungen des Lebens wandelt, also daß er kein Unrecht tut, so soll er gewiß leben und nicht sterben.
16 I will not think about the sins that he has committed; he will surely remain alive.
Auch soll ihm aller seiner Sünden, die er getan hat, nimmermehr gedacht werden; er hat getan, was recht und billig ist, er soll gewiß leben!
17 Your fellow Israelis say, ‘What Yahweh does is not fair.’ But it is your behavior that is not fair.
Dennoch sagen die Kinder deines Volkes: «Der Weg des Herrn ist nicht richtig!» so doch vielmehr ihr Weg nicht richtig ist!
18 If a righteous person turns away from doing what is righteous and starts to do what is evil, [it is fair that] he die because of his sins.
Wenn der Gerechte von seiner Gerechtigkeit absteht und Unrecht tut, so muß er deshalb sterben;
19 And if a wicked person turns away from his wicked behavior and does what is right and fair [DOU], [it is fair] for him to remain alive because of doing that.
wenn aber der Gottlose von seiner Gottlosigkeit absteht und tut, was recht und billig ist, so soll er um deswillen leben!
20 But you Israeli people still say, ‘What Yahweh does is not fair.’ But I will judge each of you for what you do.”
Da ihr aber sagt: «Der Weg des Herrn ist nicht richtig!» so will ich einen jeden von euch nach seinen Wegen richten, Haus Israel!
21 Almost twelve years [after we had been taken to Babylonia], on the fifth day of the tenth month [of that year], a man who had escaped from Jerusalem came to me [in Babylon] and said, “Jerusalem has been captured!”
Im zwölften Jahr, am fünfzehnten Tage des zehnten Monats unserer Gefangenschaft, begab es sich, daß ein Flüchtling von Jerusalem zu mir kam und sprach: Die Stadt ist geschlagen!
22 The evening before that man arrived, Yahweh took control [MTY] of me, and when that man arrived, Yahweh enabled me to speak again; I was no longer forced to be silent.
Aber des HERRN Hand war auf mich gekommen am Abend, ehe der Flüchtling zu mir kam, und hatte mir den Mund geöffnet, als jener am Morgen zu mir kam; und der Mund ward mir aufgetan, daß ich nicht mehr stumm war.
23 Then Yahweh gave a message to me. He said,
Da erging das Wort des HERRN also an mich:
24 “You human, the people who are living in the ruins in Israel are saying, ‘Abraham was only one person, but Yahweh [promised him that he and his descendants] would possess this land. But we are many; so surely this land has been given to us [by Yahweh] to continue to possess.’
Menschensohn, die Bewohner dieser Ruinen im Lande Israel sagen also: «Abraham war nur ein einzelner Mann und hat das Land zum Besitz erhalten; unser aber sind viele, und uns ist das Land zum Erbe gegeben!»
25 So send a message to them. Say, ‘This is what Yahweh the Lord says: You eat meat that still has the animal’s blood in it. You still worship idols. And you still murder others [MTY]. So, (should this land belong to you?/this land should certainly not belong to you!) [RHQ]
Darum sprich zu ihnen: So spricht Gott, der HERR: Ihr habt mitsamt dem Blut gegessen; ihr habt eure Augen zu euren Götzen erhoben und habt Blut vergossen; und ihr solltet dennoch das Land besitzen?
26 You rely on using your swords [to obtain things that you want]. You do many detestable things. Each of you has sex with other men’s wives. So (why should you continue to possess the land of Israel?/you should not continue to possess this land!) [RHQ]’
Ihr verlaßt euch auf euer Schwert; ihr tut Greuel und verunreinigt einer des andern Weib; und ihr solltet dennoch das Land besitzen?
27 Send this message to them: ‘This is what Yahweh the Lord says: As surely as I am alive, those who are left in the ruins [in Jerusalem] will also be killed by [their enemies’] swords, and those who are living in the countryside will be killed by wild animals, and those who are living in forts and caves will die from a plague.
Darum sage ihnen also: So spricht Gott, der HERR: So wahr ich lebe, alle die, welche in diesen Ruinen wohnen, sollen durchs Schwert fallen; und wer auf dem Felde ist, den will ich den wilden Tieren zum Fraße geben; welche aber in den Festungen und Höhlen sind, die sollen an der Pest sterben;
28 I will cause your country to become a desolate wasteland. You will no longer be proud of being a strong country. The mountains of Israel will become very desolate, with the result that no one will walk across them.
und ich will das Land zur Einöde machen und es verwüsten; und ihre Kraft, worauf sie stolz sind, soll ein Ende haben; und die Berge Israels sollen so wüst daliegen, daß niemand darüber gehen wird.
29 Then, when I have caused your country to become a desolate wasteland because of all the detestable things that you have done, you will know that I, Yahweh, [have the power to do what I say that I will do].’
Alsdann werden sie erkennen, daß ich der HERR bin, wenn ich das Land zur Wüste und Einöde machen werde wegen aller ihrer Greuel, die sie begangen haben.
30 As for you, you human, your fellow Israelis [here in Babylon] are talking about you along the city walls and at the doors of their houses. They are saying to each other, ‘Come and listen to the message that has come from Yahweh!’
Und du, Menschensohn, die Kinder deines Volkes unterreden sich deinethalben an den Wänden und unter den Türen der Häuser und sagen zueinander, ein jeder zu seinem Bruder: «Kommt doch und hört, was für ein Wort vom HERRN ausgeht!»
31 My people come to you as they often have done, and they sit in front of you to listen to what you say. But they do not do what you tell them that they must do. With their mouths they say that they love me, but in their inner beings they are eager to acquire things by doing what is unjust.
Und sie werden zu dir kommen, wie das Volk zusammenkommt, und werden als mein Volk vor dir sitzen und deine Worte hören, aber nicht darnach tun. Denn ob sie gleich mit dem Munde schmeicheln, so wandeln sie doch mit ihren Herzen dem Gewinne nach.
32 To them, you are only a man who sings love songs with a beautiful voice, and you play a musical instrument well. They hear what you say, but they do not do what you tell them to do.
Und siehe, du bist für sie wie ein Liebeslied, wie einer, der eine schöne Stimme hat und gut die Saiten spielen kann; sie werden deine Worte hören, aber nicht darnach tun.
33 The terrible things that I have said will happen to them will surely happen. And then they will know that a prophet has been among them, [and that you are that prophet].”
Wenn es aber kommt (Und siehe, es kommt!), so werden sie erkennen, daß ein Prophet unter ihnen gewesen ist.
