Ezekiel 15
1 Yahweh gave me another message. [He said],
Et la parole de l'Éternel me fut adressée en ces mots:
2 “You human, the wood of a grapevine is certainly not [RHQ] more useful that the branches of the trees in a forest.
Fils de l'homme, qu'aurait de plus que tout autre bois la vigne, le sarment, quand il est parmi les bois coupés dans la forêt?
3 No one [RHQ] ever takes a branch of a grapevine and makes anything [useful] from it. No one [RHQ] even makes pegs from them to hang things on.
En tirera-t-on du bois pour en faire un ouvrage? En tirera-t-on un piquet pour y suspendre toutes sortes de meubles?
4 And after a branch of a grapevine is thrown into a fire, and the fire burns both ends and chars/scorches the branch in the middle, will it then be useful for anything?
Voici, on le met au feu pour l'alimenter. Quand le feu en a dévoré les deux bouts et consumé le milieu, est-il alors bon à être travaillé?
5 No; if it was not useful for anything before it was burned, it certainly cannot [made into something] useful after the fire has burned and charred it.
Voici, quand il était entier, on ne pouvait en faire aucun ouvrage; combien moins, quand le feu l'a dévoré et consumé, pourra-t-on en faire un ouvrage!
6 Therefore, this is what [I], Yahweh the Lord, say: The wood of grapevines is useful only for fuel in a fire. Similarly, the people who live in [are useless].
Aussi, ainsi parle le Seigneur, l'Éternel: Tel le bois de la vigne que je mets au feu avec le bois de la forêt, pour l'alimenter, ainsi je livrerai les habitants de Jérusalem.
7 I will reject [IDM] them. [It will be as though] they have escaped from a fire, but there will still be a fire that will burn them up. And when I punish [EUP] them, you [people who remain alive] will know that I, Yahweh, [have done it].
Et je tournerai ma face contre eux; s'ils se tirent d'un feu, un autre feu les dévorera, afin que vous reconnaissiez que je suis l'Éternel, quand je tournerai ma face contre eux.
8 I will cause your country to become a wasteland because your people have not been loyal [to me. That is what I], Yahweh, the Lord, say.”
Et je ferai du pays un désert, parce qu'ils se sont rendus coupables, dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel.
