Ezekiel 15
1 Yahweh gave me another message. [He said],
Et la parole de l’Éternel vint à moi, disant:
2 “You human, the wood of a grapevine is certainly not [RHQ] more useful that the branches of the trees in a forest.
Fils d’homme, le bois de la vigne, que vaut-il plus que tout [autre] bois, le sarment qui est parmi les arbres de la forêt?
3 No one [RHQ] ever takes a branch of a grapevine and makes anything [useful] from it. No one [RHQ] even makes pegs from them to hang things on.
En prendra-t-on du bois pour en faire quelque ouvrage, ou en prendra-t-on une cheville pour y suspendre quelque ustensile?
4 And after a branch of a grapevine is thrown into a fire, and the fire burns both ends and chars/scorches the branch in the middle, will it then be useful for anything?
Voici, on le met au feu pour être consumé; le feu en consume les deux bouts, et le milieu est brûlé. Serait-il propre à un ouvrage?
5 No; if it was not useful for anything before it was burned, it certainly cannot [made into something] useful after the fire has burned and charred it.
Voici, quand il était entier, on n’en a fait aucun ouvrage; combien moins, quand le feu l’aura consumé et qu’il sera brûlé, en fera-t-on encore un ouvrage.
6 Therefore, this is what [I], Yahweh the Lord, say: The wood of grapevines is useful only for fuel in a fire. Similarly, the people who live in [are useless].
C’est pourquoi, ainsi dit le Seigneur, l’Éternel: Comme le bois de la vigne parmi les arbres de la forêt, que j’ai livré au feu pour être consumé, ainsi je livrerai les habitants de Jérusalem,
7 I will reject [IDM] them. [It will be as though] they have escaped from a fire, but there will still be a fire that will burn them up. And when I punish [EUP] them, you [people who remain alive] will know that I, Yahweh, [have done it].
et je mettrai ma face contre eux: ils sortiront d’un feu, et un [autre] feu les consumera; et vous saurez que je suis l’Éternel, quand j’aurai mis ma face contre eux.
8 I will cause your country to become a wasteland because your people have not been loyal [to me. That is what I], Yahweh, the Lord, say.”
Et je ferai du pays une désolation, parce qu’ils ont commis le péché, dit le Seigneur, l’Éternel.
