< Exodus 6 >

1 Then Yahweh said to Moses/me, “Now you will see what I will do to the king [and his people]. I will powerfully [MTY] compel him to let my people go. In fact, by my power [MTY] [I will force] him to expel them from his land!”
Pea naʻe folofola ai ʻa Sihova kia Mōsese, “Ko eni, te ke mamata ki he meʻa te u fai kia Felo: koeʻuhi ʻi he nima mālohi te ne tukuange ʻakinautolu ke ʻalu, pea ʻi he nima mālohi te ne kapusi ʻakinautolu mei he fonua.”
2 God also said to Moses/me, “I am Yahweh.
Pea naʻe folofola ʻae ʻOtua kia Mōsese, ʻo ne pehē kiate ia, “Ko au ko Sihova.
3 I am the one who appeared to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and [told them that I] was God Almighty, but I did not [tell] them that my name [was Yahweh].
4 I also made my solemn agreement with them, promising to give them the Canaan region. That was the area in which they were living as foreigners.
Pea kuo u fakapapau ʻeku fuakava mo kinautolu, ke foaki kiate kinautolu ʻae fonua ko Kēnani, ko e fonua ʻo ʻenau fononga fano, ʻaia naʻa nau nofo ai ko e muli.
5 Furthermore, I have heard the Israeli people as they were groaning [because of the hard work that] the Egyptians forced them to do as their slaves. I have thought about that solemn promise [that I made].
Pea kuo u ongoʻi ʻae ngaahi toʻe foki ʻae fānau ʻa ʻIsileli, ʻakinautolu ʻoku kei fakapōpulaʻi ʻe he kakai ʻIsipite: pea kuo u manatuʻi ʻeku fuakava.
6 So tell the Israeli people that [I said this: ] ‘I am Yahweh. I will free you from the burdens [of heavy work] that the Egyptians [have given you]. I will free you from being their slaves. With my great power [MTY] and by punishing them [MTY] very severely, I will save you.
Ko ia, lea ki he fānau ʻa ʻIsileli, ‘Ko au ko Sihova, pea te u ʻomi ʻakimoutolu kituʻa mei he ngaahi kavenga ʻae kakai ʻIsipite, pea te u fakangata ʻa hoʻomou pōpula kiate kinautolu, pea teu huhuʻi ʻakimoutolu ʻaki ʻae nima kuo mafao, mo e ngaahi tautea lahi:
7 I will cause you to be my own people, and I will be your God, [the one you worship]. You will truly know that I, Yahweh your God, am the one who has freed you from the burdens [of work as slaves] of the Egyptians.
Pea te u maʻu ʻakimoutolu kiate au ko hoku kakai, pea teu ʻiate kimoutolu ko homou ʻOtua: pea te mou ʻilo ko au ko Sihova ko homou ʻOtua, ʻoku ou ʻomi ʻakimoutolu kituʻa mei he ngaahi kavenga ʻae kakai ʻIsipite.
8 And I will bring you to the land that I solemnly promised to give to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob. You will possess it [forever]. I, Yahweh, am [promising this].’”
9 Moses/I told that to the Israeli people, but they did not believe what he/I said. They were very discouraged [IDM] because of the hard work [that they had been forced to do as slaves].
Pea naʻe lea pehē ʻe Mōsese ki he fānau ʻa ʻIsileli: ka naʻe ʻikai te nau tokanga kia Mōsese ko e meʻa ʻi he feinga ʻa honau laumālie, mo e māmani ʻo honau pōpula.
10 Yahweh said to Moses/me,
Pea naʻe folofola ʻa Sihova kia Mōsese, ʻo pehē,
11 “Go and tell the king of Egypt [again] that he must allow the Israeli people to leave his land!”
“ʻAlu, ʻo lea kia Felo ko e tuʻi ʻo ʻIsipite, ke ne tukuange ʻae fānau ʻa ʻIsileli, ke ʻalu mei hono fonua.”
12 But Moses/I said to Yahweh, “Listen [to what I am saying]. [Even] the Israeli people have not paid attention to what I [told them]. But I am a poor speaker. [MET, MTY] So (why should the king pay attention to what I tell him?/the king will certainly not pay attention to what I [tell him]!)” [RHQ]
Pea naʻe lea ʻa Mōsese ʻi he ʻao ʻo Sihova, ʻo pehē, “Vakai, ʻoku ʻikai tokanga ʻae fānau ʻa ʻIsileli kiate au: pea ʻe tokanga fēfeeʻi ʻa Felo kiate au, ko e loungutu taʻekamu ko au?”
13 But Yahweh spoke to Aaron and Moses/me and commanded them/us, “Tell the Israeli people and the king of Egypt that I have [commissioned you two] to lead the Israeli people out of Egypt.”
Pea naʻe folofola ʻa Sihova kia Mōsese, pea mo ʻElone, “ʻO ne tuku kiate kinaua ʻae fekau ki he fānau ʻa ʻIsileli, pea kia Felo ko e tuʻi ʻo ʻIsipite, ke ʻomi ʻae fānau ʻa ʻIsileli mei he fonua ko ʻIsipite.”
