Exodus 39
1 Bezalel, Oholiab, and the other skilled workmen made the beautiful clothes for Aaron to wear while he did his work as a priest in the Holy Place. They made them from blue, purple, and red cloth, just as Yahweh had commanded Moses/me.
| ומן התכלת והארגמן ותולעת השני עשו בגדי שרד לשרת בקדש ויעשו את בגדי הקדש אשר לאהרן כאשר צוה יהוה את משה |
2 They made the sacred apron from fine white linen and from blue, purple, and red cloth.
| ויעש את האפד זהב תכלת וארגמן ותולעת שני--ושש משזר |
3 They hammered some thin sheets of gold and cut them into thin strips which they embroidered into the fine linen and into the blue, purple, and red cloth.
| וירקעו את פחי הזהב וקצץ פתילם לעשות בתוך התכלת ובתוך הארגמן ובתוך תולעת השני ובתוך השש--מעשה חשב |
4 The apron had two shoulder straps, to join the front part to the back part at the shoulders.
| כתפת עשו לו חברת--על שני קצוותו (קצותיו) חבר |
5 A carefully-woven sash, which was made from the same materials as the sacred apron, was [sewn] onto the sacred apron. This was made exactly as Yahweh had commanded Moses/me.
| וחשב אפדתו אשר עליו ממנו הוא כמעשהו זהב תכלת וארגמן ותולעת שני ושש משזר--כאשר צוה יהוה את משה |
6 They cut two valuable onyx stones and enclosed them in a tiny gold frame, and a skilled gem-cutter engraved on the stones the names of the twelve sons of Jacob.
| ויעשו את אבני השהם מסבת משבצת זהב מפתחת פתוחי חותם על שמות בני ישראל |
7 They fastened the stones to the shoulder straps of the sacred apron, to represent the twelve Israeli tribes, exactly as Yahweh had commanded Moses/me.
| וישם אתם על כתפת האפד--אבני זכרון לבני ישראל כאשר צוה יהוה את משה |
8 They made the sacred chest pouch. They made it of the same materials as the sacred apron and embroidered it in the same way.
| ויעש את החשן מעשה חשב כמעשה אפד זהב תכלת וארגמן ותולעת שני--ושש משזר |
9 It was square, and the material was folded double, so that it was (9 in./22 cm.) long and (9 in./22 cm.) wide.
| רבוע היה כפול עשו את החשן--זרת ארכו וזרת רחבו כפול |
10 They fastened four rows of valuable stones onto the pouch. In the first row, they put a [red] ruby, a [yellow] topaz, and a [red] garnet.
| וימלאו בו--ארבעה טורי אבן טור אדם פטדה וברקת--הטור האחד |
11 In the second row, they put a [green] emerald, a [blue] sapphire, and a [clear/white] diamond.
| והטור השני--נפך ספיר ויהלם |
12 In the third row they put a [red] jacinth, a [white] agate, and a [purple] amethyst.
| והטור השלישי--לשם שבו ואחלמה |
13 In the fourth row, they put a [yellow] beryl, a [red] carnelian, and a [green] jasper. They set each of the stones in tiny gold frames.
| והטור הרביעי--תרשיש שהם וישפה מוסבת משבצת זהב במלאתם |
14 On each of the twelve stones they engraved the name of one of the sons of Jacob, to represent one of the twelve Israeli tribes.
| והאבנים על שמת בני ישראל הנה שתים עשרה--על שמתם פתוחי חתם איש על שמו לשנים עשר שבט |
15 They made two [chains] from pure gold and braided them like cords, to [attach] the sacred pouch [to the sacred apron].
| ויעשו על החשן שרשרת גבלת מעשה עבת זהב טהור |
16 They made two gold rings, and they attached them to the upper corners of the sacred pouch.
| ויעשו שתי משבצת זהב ושתי טבעת זהב ויתנו את שתי הטבעת על שני קצות החשן |
17 They fastened one end of each cord to one of the rings.
| ויתנו שתי העבתת הזהב על שתי הטבעת--על קצות החשן |
18 They fastened the other end of each cord to the two (settings/tiny frames) [that enclosed the stones]. Then they attached the sacred pouch to the shoulder straps of the sacred apron.
| ואת שתי קצות שתי העבתת נתנו על שתי המשבצת ויתנם על כתפת האפד אל מול פניו |
19 Then they made two more gold rings and attached them to the lower corners of the sacred pouch, on the inside edges, next to the sacred apron.
| ויעשו שתי טבעת זהב וישימו על שני קצות החשן על שפתו--אשר אל עבר האפד ביתה |
20 They made two more gold rings and attached them to the lower part of the front of the shoulder straps, near to where [the shoulder straps] were joined [to the sacred apron], just above the carefully-woven sash/waistband.
| ויעשו שתי טבעת זהב ויתנם על שתי כתפת האפד מלמטה ממול פניו לעמת מחברתו--ממעל לחשב האפד |
21 They tied the rings on the sacred pouch to the rings on the sacred apron with a blue cord, so that the sacred pouch was above the sash/waistband and would not come loose from the sacred apron.
| וירכסו את החשן מטבעתיו אל טבעת האפד בפתיל תכלת להית על חשב האפד ולא יזח החשן מעל האפד--כאשר צוה יהוה את משה |
22 They made the robe that is to be worn underneath the priest’s sacred apron, using only blue [cloth].
| ויעש את מעיל האפד מעשה ארג כליל תכלת |
23 It had an opening through which [the priest] would put his head. They sewed a border around this opening, to prevent the material from tearing.
| ופי המעיל בתוכו כפי תחרא שפה לפיו סביב לא יקרע |
24 At the lower edge on the robe, they fastened [decorations that resembled] pomegranate fruit. The decorations were [woven from] blue, purple, and red yarn/thread.
| ויעשו על שולי המעיל רמוני תכלת וארגמן ותולעת שני--משזר |
25 Between each of these decorations, they fastened a tiny bell made from pure gold, so there was a bell and a pomegranate, a bell and a pomegranate, alternating all around the hem of the robe
| ויעשו פעמני זהב טהור ויתנו את הפעמנים בתוך הרמנים על שולי המעיל סביב--בתוך הרמנים |
26 for [Aaron to wear while] he did his work as a priest. They made all these things exactly as Yahweh had commanded Moses/me.
| פעמן ורמן פעמן ורמן על שולי המעיל סביב לשרת כאשר צוה יהוה את משה |
27 They wove long-sleeved tunics/gowns from fine white linen, for Aaron and his sons.
| ויעשו את הכתנת שש מעשה ארג לאהרן ולבניו |
28 They also made a turban of fine linen [for Aaron to wear around his head]. They made the caps and the undershorts [for Aaron’s sons] from fine linen.
| ואת המצנפת שש ואת פארי המגבעת שש ואת מכנסי הבד שש משזר |
29 They made the embroidered sash/waistband [for Aaron] from fine linen and from blue, purple, and red cloth, and they embroidered designs on it using blue, purple, and red yarn/thread, exactly as Yahweh had commanded Moses/me.
| ואת האבנט שש משזר ותכלת וארגמן ותולעת שני--מעשה רקם כאשר צוה יהוה את משה |
30 They also made the tiny ornament of pure gold and had a skilled workman engrave on it the words, ‘Dedicated to Yahweh’.
| ויעשו את ציץ נזר הקדש זהב טהור ויכתבו עליו מכתב פתוחי חותם--קדש ליהוה |
31 They fastened this to the front of the turban by a blue cord, just as Yahweh had commanded Moses/me.
| ויתנו עליו פתיל תכלת לתת על המצנפת מלמעלה כאשר צוה יהוה את משה |
32 Finally they finished all the work to make the Sacred Tent. They brought to Moses/me all the things that they had made. They had made them exactly as Yahweh had commanded me.
| ותכל--כל עבדת משכן אהל מועד ויעשו בני ישראל--ככל אשר צוה יהוה את משה כן עשו |
33 They brought to him/me the Sacred Tent and all the things that were used with it: the hooks, the frames, the crossbars, the posts and their bases,
| ויביאו את המשכן אל משה את האהל ואת כל כליו קרסיו קרשיו בריחו ועמדיו ואדניו |
34 the coverings for the Sacred Tent that were made of tanned/dyed rams’ skins and goatskins, the curtains,
| ואת מכסה עורת האילם המאדמים ואת מכסה ערת התחשים ואת פרכת המסך |
35 the sacred chest that contained the stone slabs [on which the commandments were written], the poles, the lid for the chest,
| את ארון העדת ואת בדיו ואת הכפרת |
36 the table with all the things that were used with it, the sacred bread [that was offered] to God,
| את השלחן את כל כליו ואת לחם הפנים |
37 the lampstand made of pure gold and all its lamps and all the things that were to be used to take care of it, the oil for the lamps,
| את המנרה הטהרה את נרתיה נרת המערכה--ואת כל כליה ואת שמן המאור |
38 the golden altar [for burning incense], the oil for anointing, the sweet-smelling incense, the curtain for the entrance to the Sacred Tent,
| ואת מזבח הזהב ואת שמן המשחה ואת קטרת הסמים ואת מסך פתח האהל |
39 the bronze altar [for burning sacrifices] and its bronze grating, the poles [for carrying] it, and all the other things that were used with it, the washbasin and its base,
| את מזבח הנחשת ואת מכבר הנחשת אשר לו את בדיו ואת כל כליו את הכיר ואת כנו |
40 the curtains [that surrounded] the courtyard, the posts and bases that supported them, the curtain for the entrance to the courtyard and its ropes, the tent pegs, and all the other things that would be used in the Sacred Tent,
| את קלעי החצר את עמדיה ואת אדניה ואת המסך לשער החצר את מיתריו ויתדתיה ואת כל כלי עבדת המשכן--לאהל מועד |
41 the beautiful sacred clothes for Aaron to wear when he did his work in the Holy Place, and the special clothes for his sons to wear as they did their work as priests.
| את בגדי השרד לשרת בקדש את בגדי הקדש לאהרן הכהן ואת בגדי בניו לכהן |
42 The Israeli people had done all this work exactly as Yahweh had commanded Moses/me.
| ככל אשר צוה יהוה את משה כן עשו בני ישראל את כל העבדה |
43 Then Moses/I saw all the work that they had done. Truly, they had done everything exactly as Yahweh had commanded [that it should be done]. Then Moses/I [asked God to] bless them.
| וירא משה את כל המלאכה והנה עשו אתה--כאשר צוה יהוה כן עשו ויברך אתם משה |
