Deuteronomy 27
1 Moses/I, along with the other Israeli leaders, said this to the people: “Obey all the commandments that I am giving to you today.
En Mozes, te zamen met de oudsten van Israel, gebood het volk, zeggende: Behoudt al deze geboden, die ik ulieden heden gebiede.
2 [Soon] you will cross the Jordan [River] and enter the land that Yahweh, the God whom our ancestors [worshiped], promised to give to you. There, in that very fertile [IDM] land on the [west] side of the Jordan [River], set up some large stones [on Ebal Mountain], and cover them with plaster. Then write on those stones all these laws and teachings/instructions.
Het zal dan geschieden, ten dage als gij over de Jordaan zult gegaan zijn in het land, dat u de HEERE, uw God, geven zal, zo zult gij u grote stenen oprichten, en bestrijken ze met kalk;
En gij zult daarop schrijven alle woorden dezer wet, als gij overgegaan zult zijn; opdat gij komt in het land, dat de HEERE, uw God, u geven zal, een land vloeiende van melk en honig, gelijk als de HEERE, uwer vaderen God, tot u gesproken heeft.
Het zal dan geschieden, als gij over de Jordaan gegaan zult zijn, dat gij dezelve stenen, van dewelke ik u heden gebiede, zult oprichten op den berg Ebal, en gij zult ze met kalk bestrijken;
5 And build a stone altar there to offer sacrifices to Yahweh, but do not cut those stones with iron tools.
En gij zult aldaar den HEERE, uw God, een altaar bouwen, een altaar van stenen; gij zult geen ijzer over hetzelve bewegen.
6 The altar that you make to burn sacrifices to Yahweh our God must be made with uncut stones.
Van gehele stenen zult gij het altaar des HEEREN, uws Gods, bouwen, en gij zult den HEERE, uw God, brandofferen daarop offeren.
7 And there you must sacrifice offerings to maintain fellowship with Yahweh, and you must eat [your share of those offerings] and rejoice/celebrate in the presence of Yahweh.
Ook zult gij dankofferen offeren, en zult aldaar eten, en vrolijk zijn voor het aangezicht des HEEREN, uws Gods.
8 And, when you write these laws on those stones, you must write them very clearly.”
En gij zult op deze stenen schrijven alle woorden dezer wet, die wel uitdrukkende.
9 Then Moses/I, along with the priests, said to all the Israeli people, “You Israeli people, be quiet and listen [to what I am saying]. Today you have become the people who belong to Yahweh, our God.
Voorts sprak Mozes, te zamen met de Levietische priesteren, tot gans Israel, zeggende: Luistert toe en hoort o Israel! Op dezen dag zijt gij den HEERE, uw God, tot een volk geworden.
10 So, you must do what he tells you, and obey all the rules and regulations that I am giving to you today.”
Daarom zult gij der stem des HEEREN, uws Gods, gehoorzaam zijn, en gij zult doen Zijn geboden en Zijn inzettingen, die ik u heden gebiede.
11 On that same day Moses/I said to the Israeli people,
En Mozes gebood het volk te dien dage, zeggende:
12 “After you have crossed over the Jordan [River], the tribes of Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Joseph, and Benjamin must stand on Gerizim Mountain and [request Yahweh to] bless the people.
Dezen zullen staan, om het volk te zegenen op den berg Gerizim, als gij over de Jordaan gegaan zult zijn: Simeon, en Levi, en Juda, en Issaschar, en Jozef, en Benjamin.
13 And the tribes of Reuben, Gad, Asher, Zebulun, Dan, and Naphtali must stand on Ebal Mountain and listen to the things that Yahweh will do when he curses the people.
En dezen zullen staan over den vloek op den berg Ebal: Ruben, Gad en Aser, Zebulon, Dan en Nafthali.
14 The descendants of Levi must shout these words loudly:
En de Levieten zullen betuigen en zeggen tot allen man van Israel, met verhevene stem:
15 ‘Yahweh will curse anyone who makes an idol of stone, or of wood, or of metal, and secretly sets it up [and worships it]. Yahweh considers that those things, made by humans [SYN], are detestable/disgusting.’ And all the people must reply, ‘(Amen/We want that to happen).’
Vervloekt zij de man, die een gesneden of gegoten beeld, een gruwel des HEEREN, een werk van 's werkmeesters handen, zal maken, en zetten in het verborgene! En al het volk zal antwoorden en zeggen: Amen.
16 ‘Yahweh will curse anyone who dishonors his father or his mother.’ And all the people must reply, ‘(Amen/We want that to happen).’
Vervloekt zij, die zijn vader of zijn moeder veracht! En al het volk zal zeggen: Amen.
17 ‘Yahweh will curse anyone who removes someone else’s markers of property boundaries.’ And all the people must reply, ‘(Amen/We want that to happen).’
Vervloekt zij, die zijns naasten landpale verrukt! En al het volk zal zeggen: Amen.
18 ‘Yahweh will curse anyone who leads a blind person to go (in the wrong direction/where that person does not want to go).’ And all the people must reply, ‘(Amen/We want that to happen).’
Vervloekt zij, die een blinde op den weg doet dolen! En al het volk zal zeggen: Amen.
19 ‘Yahweh will curse anyone who deprives foreigners or orphans or widows of the things that the laws state must be done for them.’ And all the people must reply, ‘(Amen/We want that to happen).’
Vervloekt zij, die het recht van den vreemdeling, van den wees en van de weduwe buigt! En al het volk zal zeggen: Amen.
20 ‘Yahweh will curse anyone who (shows no respect for/disgraces his father) by having sex with [EUP] any of his father’s wives.’ And all the people must reply, ‘(Amen/We want that to happen).’
Vervloekt zij, die bij de vrouw zijns vaders ligt, omdat hij zijns vaders slippe ontdekt heeft! En al het volk zal zeggen: Amen.
21 ‘Yahweh will curse anyone who has sex [EUP] with any animal.’ And all the people must reply, ‘(Amen/We want that to happen).’
Vervloekt zij, die bij enig beest ligt! En al het volk zal zeggen: Amen.
22 ‘Yahweh will curse anyone who has sex with his sister or with his half-sister.’ And all the people must reply, ‘(Amen/We want that to happen).’
Vervloekt zij, die bij zijn zuster ligt, de dochter zijns vaders of de dochter zijner moeder! En al het volk zal zeggen: Amen.
23 ‘Yahweh will curse anyone who has sex with [EUP] his mother-in-law.’ And all the people must reply, ‘(Amen/We want that to happen).’
Vervloekt zij, die bij zijn schoonmoeder ligt! En al het volk zal zeggen: Amen.
24 ‘Yahweh will curse anyone who secretly murders someone else.’ And all the people must reply, ‘(Amen/We want that to happen).’
Vervloekt zij, die zijn naaste in het verborgene verslaat! En al het volk zal zeggen: Amen.
25 ‘Yahweh will curse anyone who accepts a bribe to murder someone who (is innocent/has not done something that is wrong.)’ And all the people must reply, ‘(Amen/We want that to happen).’
Vervloekt zij, die geschenk neemt, om een ziel, het bloed eens onschuldigen, te verslaan! En al het volk zal zeggen: Amen.
26 ‘Yahweh will curse anyone who disobeys these laws and refuses to declare that these laws [are good].’ And all the people must reply, ‘(Amen/We want that to happen).’”
Vervloekt zij, die de woorden dezer wet niet zal bevestigen, doende dezelve! En al het volk zal zeggen: Amen.
