Deuteronomy 14
1 “We are people who belong to Yahweh our God. So, when people die, do not show that you are grieving by gashing/cutting yourselves or by shaving the hair on your foreheads [like the other people-groups do].
Vous êtes les enfants de l'Éternel votre Dieu. Ne vous faites point d'incision, et ne vous rasez point entre les yeux pour un mort;
2 We belong to Yahweh alone. Yahweh chose us from all the other people-groups on the earth to be his special people.
Car tu es un peuple consacré à l'Éternel ton Dieu, et l'Éternel t'a choisi d'entre tous les peuples qui sont sur la face de la terre, pour que tu lui sois un peuple particulier.
3 “Do not eat anything that [Yahweh] detests.
Tu ne mangeras aucune chose abominable.
4 The animals [whose meat] you are permitted to eat are cattle, sheep, goats,
Voici les animaux que vous mangerez: le bœuf, le mouton et la chèvre,
5 deer, gazelles, wild goats, antelopes, and mountain sheep.
Le cerf, la gazelle, le daim, le chamois, le chevreuil, le bœuf sauvage et la girafe.
6 Those are animals that have split hoofs and that also (chew their cuds/regurgitate their food [from their stomachs] to chew it again).
Et vous mangerez d'entre les animaux, tous ceux qui ont l'ongle divisé et le pied fourché, et qui ruminent.
7 But there are other animals that chew their cuds that you must not eat. Those are camels, rabbits, and rock badgers. They chew their cuds, but their hooves are not split. So they are not acceptable for you to eat.
Seulement, voici ce que vous ne mangerez point d'entre ceux qui ruminent et d'entre ceux qui ont l'ongle divisé et le pied fourché: le chameau, le lièvre et le lapin; car ils ruminent, mais ils n'ont point l'ongle divisé: ils vous seront souillés;
8 Do not eat pigs. They are unacceptable for you to eat; their hooves are split, but they do not chew cud. Do not eat the meat of those animals; do not even touch their dead bodies.
Le pourceau aussi; car il a l'ongle divisé, mais il ne rumine point: il vous sera souillé. Vous ne mangerez point de leur chair; et vous ne toucherez point leur cadavre.
9 You are permitted to eat any fish that has scales and fins.
Voici ce que vous mangerez de tout ce qui est dans les eaux. Vous mangerez tout ce qui a des nageoires et des écailles;
10 But anything else [that lives in the water] that does not have scales and fins, you must not eat, because [if you eat them], you will become unacceptable [to Yahweh].
Mais tout ce qui n'a point de nageoires ni d'écailles, vous ne le mangerez point; cela vous sera souillé.
11 “You are permitted to eat the flesh of any bird that is acceptable [to Yahweh].
Vous mangerez tout oiseau pur.
12 But eagles, vultures, black vultures,
Mais voici ceux dont vous ne mangerez point: l'aigle, l'orfraie, le vautour,
13 buzzards, all kinds of kites,
L'autour, le faucon et le milan selon son espèce;
14 all kinds of crows,
Et tout corbeau, selon son espèce;
15 ostriches, seagulls,
Et l'autruche, le coucou, et la mouette, et l'épervier, selon son espèce;
16 owls, hawks, falcons,
La chouette, le hibou, le cygne,
17 pelicans, vultures that eat dead animals, cormorants,
Le pélican, le cormoran, le plongeon,
18 storks, herons, hoopoes, and bats, you must not eat.
La cigogne et le héron, selon son espèce; la huppe et la chauve-souris.
19 “All insects with wings [and which walk on the ground] are unacceptable [to Yahweh]; do not eat them.
Et tout reptile qui vole vous sera souillé; on n'en mangera point.
20 But other insects with wings [and which hop along the ground] are acceptable to eat.
Vous mangerez tout oiseau pur.
21 “Do not eat any animal that has died naturally, [because its blood has not been drained out]. You may allow foreigners who live among you to eat those things or you may sell them to other foreigners. But you belong to Yahweh our God; [and those who belong to him are not permitted to eat the meat of animals whose blood has not been drained out]. “You must not cook a young sheep or goat in its mother’s milk.”
Vous ne mangerez d'aucune bête morte; tu la donneras à l'étranger qui sera dans tes portes, et il la mangera, ou on la vendra à un étranger. Car tu es un peuple consacré à l'Éternel ton Dieu. Tu ne feras point cuire le chevreau dans le lait de sa mère.
22 “Once each year you must set apart (a tithe/10 percent) of all the crops that are produced/harvested in your fields.
Tu ne manqueras point de donner la dîme de tout le produit de ce que tu auras semé, de ce qui sortira de ton champ, chaque année.
23 Take those things to the place that Yahweh our God will choose [for you to worship him]. There eat the tithes of your grain, your wine, your [olive] oil, and the meat of the firstborn male animals of your cattle and your sheep. Do this in order that you may learn to always revere Yahweh, [the one who has blessed you by giving you these things].
Et tu mangeras, devant l'Éternel ton Dieu, au lieu qu'il aura choisi pour y faire habiter son nom, la dîme de ton froment, de ton vin, de ton huile, et les premiers-nés de ton gros et de ton menu bétail, afin que tu apprennes à craindre toujours l'Éternel ton Dieu.
24 If the place that Yahweh has chosen [for you to worship him] is very far from your home, with the result that you are not able to take there the tithes [of your crops] with which Yahweh has blessed you, do this:
Mais si le chemin est trop long pour toi, en sorte que tu ne puisses porter toutes ces choses, parce que le lieu que l'Éternel ton Dieu aura choisi pour y mettre son nom, sera trop loin de toi, quand l'Éternel ton Dieu t'aura béni,
25 Sell [IDM] the tithes of your crops, wrap the money carefully [in a cloth], and take it with you to the place of worship that Yahweh has chosen.
Alors tu les convertiras en argent, et tu serreras l'argent en ta main; tu iras au lieu que l'Éternel ton Dieu aura choisi,
26 There, [with that money], you may buy whatever you want to—beef or lamb or wine or fermented drinks. And there, in the presence of Yahweh, you and your families should eat [and drink] those things and be happy.
Et tu donneras l'argent en échange de tout ce que tu désireras, gros ou menu bétail, vin ou boisson forte, et tout ce que tu souhaiteras; et tu le mangeras là, devant l'Éternel ton Dieu, et tu te réjouiras, toi et ta famille.
27 But be sure to not neglect/forget [to help] the descendants of Levi who live in your towns, because they will not own any land.
Et tu n'abandonneras point le Lévite qui est dans tes portes, parce qu'il n'a point de portion ni d'héritage avec toi.
28 “At the end of every three years, bring a tithe of all your crops that have been produced/harvested in that year and store it in your towns.
Au bout de trois ans, tu tireras toutes les dîmes de ton revenu de cette année-là, et tu les déposeras dans tes portes.
29 That food is for the descendants of Levi, because they do not have their own land, and for foreigners [who live among you], and for orphans and widows who live in your towns. They are permitted to come [to where the food is stored] and take what they need. Do that in order that Yahweh our God will bless you in everything that you do.”
Alors le Lévite, qui n'a point de portion ni d'héritage avec toi, et l'étranger, l'orphelin et la veuve, qui seront dans tes portes, viendront et mangeront, et se rassasieront; afin que l'Éternel ton Dieu te bénisse dans toute œuvre que tu feras de ta main.
