Deuteronomy 13
1 “Possibly there will be people among you who [say that they] are prophets. They may say that they are able to interpret the meaning of dreams or perform various kinds of miracles [DOU].
Si se levantare en medio de ti un profeta, o un soñador de sueños, que te anuncia una señal o un prodigio,
2 They will say those things in order to induce/persuade you to worship gods that you have never known about before. But even if what they predict happens,
aunque se cumpliere la señal o prodigio de que te habló, diciendo: ‘Vamos tras otros dioses, que tú no conoces, y sirvámoslos’,
3 do not pay attention to what they say. Yahweh our God will be testing you to find out if you love him with all your inner being.
no escucharás las palabras de ese profeta, o de ese soñador de sueños porque os prueba Yahvé, vuestro Dios, para saber si amáis a Yahvé, vuestro Dios, con todo vuestro corazón y con toda vuestra alma.
4 You must conduct your lives as Yahweh our God wants you to, and you must revere him, and do what he tells you to do [MTY], and worship only him, and (be faithful to/have a close relationship with) him.
Id en pos de Yahvé, vuestro Dios; a Él habéis de temer; guardad sus mandamientos; escuchad su voz, servidle y allegaos a Él.
5 “But you must execute anyone who [falsely says that he] is a prophet, or someone who [falsely] says that he can interpret dreams, or who tells you to rebel against Yahweh our God, who rescued your ancestors from being slaves in Egypt. People like that are only wanting to cause you to stop conducting your lives as Yahweh has commanded you to do. Execute them, to get rid of this evil among you.
Ese profeta, o ese soñador de sueños, será muerto, por haber predicado rebelión contra Yahvé, vuestro Dios, que os sacó de Egipto y te rescató de la casa de la servidumbre, para apartarte del camino por donde Yahvé, tu Dios, te ha mandado que andes. Así extirparás el mal de en medio de ti.
6 It does not matter if even your brother or your daughter or your wife or some close/dear friend secretly urges you, saying ‘Let’s worship other gods. They are gods which you or your ancestors have never known about.
Si tu hermano, hijo de tu madre, o tu hijo, o tu hija, o la mujer de tu corazón, o tu amigo que es como tu propia alma, te incitare en secreto, diciendo: ‘Vamos y sirvamos a otros dioses’, desconocidos de ti y de tus padres,
7 Some of them may encourage you to worship gods that people-groups that live near you worship, or gods that groups who live far away worship.
dioses de los pueblos que te rodean, vecinos o lejanos, de un cabo de la tierra al otro,
8 Do not [SYN] do what they suggest. Do not even listen to them. Do not even be merciful to them, and do not keep secret what they have done.
no condesciendas con él ni le escuches, no le perdone tu ojo, ni le tengas compasión, ni le encubras;
9 Execute them! You [who are their relative] must be the first one to [throw stones at them to] kill them, and then let everyone else [MTY] throw stones at them, too.
al contrario, debes matarle irremisiblemente; tu mano sea la primera que se alce contra él para matarle, y después haga lo mismo la mano de todo el pueblo.
10 Kill such people by throwing stones at them, because they are trying to cause you to stop worshiping Yahweh our God, who rescued your ancestors from being slaves in Egypt.
Le apedrearás hasta que muera, porque procuraba apartarte de Yahvé, tu Dios, que te sacó de la tierra de Egipto, de la casa de la servidumbre.
11 When they are executed, all the Israeli people will hear [what happened], and they will become afraid, and none of them will do such an evil thing again.
Y todo Israel lo oirá; y temerán y no volverán a hacer semejante maldad en medio de ti.
12 “When you are living in one of the towns in the land that Yahweh our God is giving to you, you may hear
Si de una de las ciudades que Yahvé, tu Dios, te da para habitar allí, te llega esta noticia:
13 that some worthless people there among you [IDM] are deceiving the people of their town, saying, ‘Let’s go and worship other gods,’ but they are gods that you have never heard about before.
Hijos de Belial han salido de en medio de ti y han seducido a los vecinos de su ciudad, diciendo: ‘Vamos y sirvamos a otros dioses’ —que no conocéis vosotros—
14 Investigate it thoroughly/carefully. If [you find out that] it is true that such a disgraceful thing has happened,
indagarás, examinarás y preguntarás diligentemente, y si resulta ser cierto y seguro que esta abominación ha sido cometida en medio de ti,
15 kill all the people in that town. And kill all their livestock, too. Destroy the town completely.
no tardarás en pasar a los habitantes de aquella ciudad a filo de espada, detrayéndola completamente con todo lo que hay en ella. También las bestias pasarás a cuchillo.
16 Gather all the possessions that belonged to the people who lived there and pile them up in the city plaza. Then burn the town and everything in it, as though it were an offering to Yahweh that would be completely burned [on the altar]. The ruins/ashes must stay there forever; the town must never be rebuilt.
Luego juntarás todo su botín en medio de su plaza, y quemarás totalmente la ciudad juntamente con todo su botín, para Yahvé, tu Dios, y quedará hecho un montón de ruinas para siempre; jamás será reedificada.
17 None of you Israelis must take for yourselves [IDM] anything that Yahweh has said must be destroyed. But if you do what I say, Yahweh will stop being angry with you, and he will act mercifully toward you. And he will cause you to have many children/descendants, which is what he promised our ancestors that he would do.
Que no se pegue a tu mano nada del anatema, para que Yahvé deponga el ardor de su ira y te favorezca con mercedes, y se compadezca de ti, y te multiplique, como se lo juró a tus padres,
18 Yahweh our God will do all those things if you do what he is telling you to do, and if you obey all the commandments that I am giving to you today and do what Yahweh says is right [for you to do].”
con tal que escuches la voz de Yahvé, tu Dios, guardando todos sus mandamientos que hoy te ordeno, y haciendo lo que es recto a los ojos de Yahvé, tu Dios.
