Deuteronomy 11
1 “[Because of all that] Yahweh your God [has done for you], you must love him and continually obey all his rules and regulations and commandments.
Så skal du da elske Herren din Gud og ta vare på det han vil ha varetatt, hans lover og hans forskrifter og hans bud, alle dager.
2 It was you and your ancestors, not your children, whom he disciplined [by causing all of you to have/experience difficulties]. So, starting today, continue to think about how very great and very powerful he is [DOU, MTY].
Og I skal idag - for det er ikke eders barn jeg taler med, de som ikke kjenner det og ikke har sett det - komme I hu Herrens, eders Guds optuktelse, hans storhet, hans sterke hånd og hans utrakte arm
3 Think about the various miracles [DOU] that he performed in Egypt. Think about what he did to the king of Egypt and to his country.
og hans tegn og gjerninger, som han gjorde i Egypten med Farao, kongen i Egypten, og med hele hans land,
4 Think about what he did to the army of Egypt, to their horses and their chariots. Think about how he caused the Red Sea to flood/cover over them while they were pursuing your ancestors, and how the army of Egypt was completely (wiped out/destroyed).
og hvad han gjorde med egypternes hær, med deres hester og vogner, da han lot det Røde Havs vann strømme sammen over dem mens de forfulgte eder, og lot dem gå til grunne, så ingen har sett dem mere til denne dag,
5 Think about what Yahweh did for your ancestors in the desert before you arrived at this place.
og hvad han gjorde med eder i ørkenen inntil I kom til dette sted,
6 Think about what he did to Dathan and Abiram, the two sons of Eliab from the tribe of Reuben. While all of your ancestors were watching, the earth split open, and they fell into the opening [and disappeared], along with their families and their tents, their servants, and their animals.
og hvad han gjorde med Datan og Abiram, sønnene til Eliab, Rubens sønn, da jorden lukket op sin munn og midt iblandt hele Israel slukte dem og deres hus og deres telter og hvert liv som var i følge med dem;
7 You [SYN] and your ancestors have seen all these miracles that Yahweh performed.
for I har selv med egne øine sett alle de storverk Herren har gjort.
8 So, obey all the commandments that I am giving you today, in order that you will be strong and able to cross the river and occupy the land that you are about to enter,
Ta da vare på alle de bud jeg gir dig idag, forat I kan bli sterke og komme inn og eie det land I nu drar over til og skal ta i eie,
9 and in order that you will live for a long time in that land, the land that Yahweh solemnly promised your ancestors that he would give to them and to their descendants, a land that is very fertile [IDM].
og forat I kan få leve lenge i det land Herren tilsvor eders fedre å ville gi dem og deres ætt, et land som flyter med melk og honning.
10 The land that you are about to enter and occupy is not like the land of Egypt, where your ancestors lived. In Egypt, after they planted seeds, it was necessary for them to work hard [MTY] to water [the plants that grew].
For det land du kommer inn i og skal ta i eie, er ikke som Egyptens land, som I drog ut fra, hvor du sådde din sæd og så vannet jorden med din fot som en kålhave.
11 But the land that you are about to enter is a land where there are many hills and valleys, where there is plenty of rain.
Men det land I drar over til og skal ta i eie, er et land med fjell og daler, som drikker vann av himmelens regn,
12 Yahweh takes care of that land. He [SYN] watches over it every day, from the beginning of each year to the end of each year.
et land som Herren din Gud bærer omsorg for; alltid hviler Herrens, din Guds øine på det, fra årets begynnelse til dets ende.
13 Today I am commanding you to love Yahweh our God and to serve him with your entire inner beings. If you do that,
Dersom I nu er lydige mot mine bud, som jeg gir eder idag, så I elsker Herren eders Gud og tjener ham av alt eders hjerte og av all eders sjel,
14 each year he will send rain on your land at the (right times/times when it is needed), (in the autumn/at the end of the dry season) and (in the spring/before the next dry season starts). As a result, you will have grain and [grapes to make] wine and [olives to make olive] oil.
da vil jeg gi eders land regn i rette tid, høstregn og vårregn, og du skal samle i hus ditt korn og din most og din olje,
15 And he will cause grass to grow in your fields for your livestock [to eat]. You will have all the food that you want.
og for ditt fe vil jeg gi dig gress på dine marker, og du skal ete og bli mett.
16 “But I warn you, do not turn away from Yahweh our God and start to worship other gods,
Ta eder i vare at eders hjerte ikke dåres, så I viker av og dyrker andre guder og tilbeder dem,
17 because if you do that, Yahweh will become very angry with you. He will prevent any rain from falling. As a result, the crops will not grow, and you will soon die [from hunger] in the good land that Yahweh is about to give to you.
og Herrens vrede optendes mot eder, og han lukker himmelen til, så det ikke kommer regn, og jorden ikke gir sin grøde, og I hastig blir utryddet av det gode land Herren gir eder.
18 So, keep thinking [IDM] about these commands. Write them [on tiny scrolls] and fasten them to your arms/wrists, and write them on bands that you fasten to your foreheads [to help you to remember them].
Så legg eder da disse mine ord på hjerte og på sinne og bind dem som et tegn på eders hånd og la dem være som en minneseddel på eders panne
19 Teach them to your children again and again. Talk about them [all the time]: When you are in your houses and when you are walking outside; talk about them when you are lying down at night and when you are getting up in the morning.
og lær eders barn dem ved å tale om dem når du sitter i ditt hus, og når du går på veien, og når du legger dig, og når du står op,
20 Write them on the doorposts and on the gates of your houses.
og skriv dem på dørstolpene i ditt hus og på dine porter,
21 Do that in order that you and your children will live for a long time in the land that Yahweh promised to our ancestors that he would give to them. That land will belong to you [and your descendants] as long as there is a sky above the earth.
forat eders og eders barns dager må bli mange i det land som Herren tilsvor eders fedre å ville gi dem, og I må leve der like så lenge som himmelen hvelver sig over jorden.
22 “Faithfully continue to obey what I am commanding you to do—to love Yahweh our God, and to conduct your lives as he wants you to do, and to (be faithful to/have a close relationship with) him.
For tar I vare på alle disse bud som jeg byder eder å holde, så I elsker Herren eders Gud og vandrer på alle hans veier og holder fast ved ham,
23 If you do that, Yahweh will expel all the people-groups in that land as you advance, people-groups that are more numerous and more powerful than you are.
da skal Herren drive ut alle disse folk for eder, og I skal jage bort folk som er større og tallrikere enn I selv.
24 All the ground [in that land] on which you walk will be yours. Your territory will extend from the desert [in the south] to the Lebanon [Mountains in the north], and from the Euphrates River [in the east] to the [Mediterranean] Sea in the west.
Hvert sted I treder på med eders fot, skal høre eder til; fra ørkenen og Libanon, fra den store elv, elven Frat, og til havet i vest skal eders landemerker nå.
25 Yahweh our God will cause all the people in that land to be afraid of you, which is what he promised, with the result that no people-group will be able to stop you.
Ingen skal kunne stå sig imot eder; redsel for eder og frykt for eder skal Herren eders Gud la komme over hele det land I treder på, således som han har sagt til eder.
26 “Listen carefully: Today I am telling you [that Yahweh will either] bless [you or he will] curse you.
Se, jeg legger idag frem for eder velsignelse og forbannelse:
27 If you obey the commandments of Yahweh our God that I am giving to you today, he will bless you.
velsignelsen, så sant I lyder Herrens, eders Guds bud, som jeg gir eder idag,
28 If you do not obey them, and if you turn away from him to worship other gods that you have never known about before, he will curse you.
og forbannelsen, dersom I ikke lyder Herrens, eders Guds bud, men viker av fra den vei jeg idag byder eder å vandre på, og følger andre guder, som I ikke kjenner.
29 And when Yahweh brings you into the land that you are about to enter and occupy, [some of you must stand on top of] Gerizim Mountain and proclaim what will cause Yahweh to bless you, and [the others must stand on top of] Ebal Mountain and proclaim [what will cause Yahweh to] curse you.”
Og når Herren din Gud fører dig inn i det land du nu drar inn i og skal ta i eie, da skal du lyse velsignelsen på fjellet Garisim og forbannelsen på fjellet Ebal.
30 (Those two mountains are [RHQ] west of the Jordan [River], west of the Jordan Valley near the huge oak tree at Moreh [village] in the land where the Canaan people-group lives. They live close to the sacred trees near Gilgal.)
Disse to fjell ligger, som i vet, på hin side Jordan bortenfor veien som bærer mot vest, i kana'anittenes land, de som bor i ødemarken midt imot Gilgal, ved Mores terebintelund.
31 “You will soon cross the Jordan [River] to occupy the land that Yahweh our God is giving to you. When you enter that land and start to live there,
For nu går I over Jordan for å komme inn og ta det land i eie som Herren eders Gud gir eder, og I skal ta det i eie og bo der.
32 be sure to obey all the rules and regulations that I am giving to you today.”
Akt da vel på at I holder alle de bud og lover som jeg idag legger frem for eder!
