1 Samuel 9
1 There was a rich and influential man whose name was Kish. He belonged to the tribe descended from Benjamin. Kish was the son of Abiel and the grandson of Zeror. He was from the family of Becorath and from the clan of Aphiah.
Ug may usa ka tawo sa Benjamin, kansang ngalan mao si Cis, ang anak nga lalake ni Abiel, ang anak nga lalake ni Seor, ang anak nga lalake ni Bechora, ang anak nga lalake ni Aphia, ang anak nga lalake sa usa ka Benjaminhon, usa ka gamhanan nga tawo sa kaisug.
2 Kish had a son whose name was Saul. He was more handsome than any of the other Israeli men, and he was a head/foot taller than any of the other Israeli men.
Ug siya may usa ka anak nga lalake kansang ngalan mao si Saul, usa ka batan-on nga lalake ug ambungan: ug wala diha sa kinataliwad-an sa mga anak sa Israel, tawo nga ambungan pa kay kaniya: sukad sa iyang abaga ngadto sa itaas siya taas pa kay sa bisan kinsa sa katawohan.
3 One day, some of Kish’s female donkeys wandered off. So Kish told Saul, “Take one of my servants with you, and go and search for the donkeys!”
Ug ang mga asno ni Cis, ang amahan ni Saul, nangawala. Ug si Cis miingon kang Saul nga iyang anak nga lalake: Dad-a karon ang usa sa mga sulogoon uban kanimo, ug tumindog ka, pangitaa ang mga asno.
4 So Saul did that. He took a servant, and they walked through the hilly area where the descendants of Ephraim lived, and then they went through the areas named Shalishah and Shaalim, and then they went through all the area where the descendants of Benjamin lived, but they could not find the donkeys.
Ug siya, milatas sa kabungtoran sa Ephraim, latas sa yuta sa Salisa, apan wala kini nila hikaplagi: unya sila nangagi sa yuta sa Saalim, ug wala didto kini; ug siya milatas sa yuta sa mga Benjaminhon, apan wala nila hikaplagi kini.
5 Finally, they came to the area of Zuph. Then Saul said to the servant, “Let’s go back home. If we do not do that, my father will stop worrying about the donkeys and start worrying about us.”
Sa paghiadto nila sa yuta sa Suph, si Saul miingon sa iyang kuyog nga sulogoon: Umari ka, ug mamauli na kita, tingali biyaan na lamang sa akong amahan ang pagkaguol tungod sa mga asno, ug mahingawa na siya tungod kanato.
6 But the servant said, “I have another idea [IDM]. There is one of God’s prophets who lives in this town. People respect him very much, because everything he predicts comes true. Let’s go [talk] to him. Perhaps he can tell us where we can go [to find the donkeys].”
Ug siya miingon kaniya: Ania karon, aduna dinhi niining ciudara usa ka tawo sa Dios, ug siya maoy usa ka tawo nga giila sa kadungganan; ang tanan nga iyang ipamulong mahanabo gayud: karon mangadto kita; basin ra siya makatudlo kanato mahitungod sa atong panaw, kong asa kita mangadto.
7 Saul replied to the servant, “If we go talk with him, [we should give a gift to him, but] what can we give to him? We have no more food in our sacks. Do we have anything else to give to him?”
Unya miingon si Saul sa iyang sulogoon: Apan, ania karon, kong kita moadto, unsay atong ikagasa sa tawo? Kay ang tinapay nga ania sa atong mga sudlanan hurot na, ug walay usa ka gasa nga arang ta madala ngadto sa tawo sa Dios: unsay ania kanato?
8 The servant replied, “Look [at this]! I have a small silver coin. I can give this to him, and then he will tell us where to go [to find the donkeys].”
Ug ang sulogoon mitubag pag-usab kang Saul, ug miingon: Ania karon, ania sa akong kamot ang ikaupat ka bahin sa usa ka siclo nga salapi: kini akong igahatag sa tawo sa Dios, aron sa pagtudlo kanato sa atong dalan.
9 Saul said, “Okay, let’s go [talk to him.”] So they went to the town where the prophet lived. As they were going up the hill into the town, they met some young women who were coming out of the town to get some water [from a well]. One of them asked the women, “Is the seer in the town [today]?” [They said that because] previously, if people [in Israel] wanted a message from God, they would say, “Let’s go to the seer,” and people who now are called prophets were at that time called ‘those who see [(visions from God/all that God sees)].’
(Sa unang panahon sa Israel, sa diha nga ang usa ka tawo moadto sa pagpangutana sa Dios, sa ingon niini magasulti siya: Umari ka, ug mangadto kita sa magtatan-aw: kay siya gitawag karon nga usa ka manalagna, gitawag sa unang panahon usa ka Magtatan-aw).
Unya miingon si Saul sa iyang sulogoon: Maayong pagkaasoy: Tala na, mangadto kita. Busa nangadto sila sa ciudad diin atua ang tawo sa Dios.
Sa nagtungas sila sa tungasan ngadto sa ciudad nakakaplag sila ug mga batan-ong dalaga nga nanagpanggula aron sa pagkalus sa tubig, ug miingon kanila: Ania ba ang magtatan-aw dinhi?
12 The women replied, “Yes, he is in the town. In fact, he is [walking on the road] ahead of you. He has just arrived in the town, because the people are going to offer a sacrifice on the altar where the people gather [to worship God].
Ug sila nanubag kanila, ug nanag-ingon: Siya ania; tan-awa, siya nag-una kanimo; dumali ka karon, kay nahiabut siya karong adlawa diha sa ciudad; kay ang katawohan may usa ka paghalad karong adlawa sa hataas nga dapit.
13 If you go quickly, you will [have time to talk to him] before he goes there. The people who have been invited will not start eating until he arrives there and (blesses/asks God to bless) the sacrifice.”
Sa diha nga mahiabut kamo sa ciudad, makaplagan ninyo siya dayon, sa dili pa siya motungas sa hataas nga dapit sa pagkaon; kay ang katawohan dili mangaon hangtud nga siya mahiabut tungod kay siya ang manalangin sa halad; ug sa tapus niana silang mga dinapit mangaon. Busa karon panlakaw na kamo; kay niining panahona makaplagan ninyo siya.
14 So Saul and the servant entered the town. As they went through the gates, they saw Samuel as he was coming toward them, on the way to where people were going to offer sacrifices.
Ug nangadto sila sa ciudad; ug sa paghiabut nila sa ciudad, ania karon, si Samuel migula padulong kanila, aron sa pag-adto sa hataas nga dapit.
15 On the previous day, Yahweh had told Samuel,
Karon si Jehova nagpadayag kang Samuel usa ka adlaw sa wala mahiabut si Saul, nga nagaingon:
16 “At this time tomorrow, I will send to you a man from the land where the descendants of Benjamin live. Pour olive oil on his [head] to [indicate that he will] be the leader of my Israeli people. I have seen that my people are suffering [because the Philistine people are oppressing them], and I have heard my people as they have called out to me [for help]. The man on whose [head] you pour olive oil will rescue my people from the [MTY] Philistine people.”
Ugma sa ingon niining taknaa padad-an ko ikaw ug usa ka tawo gikan sa yuta sa Benjamin, ug ikaw magadihog kaniya sa pagka-principe ibabaw sa akong katawohan nga Israel; ug siya magaluwas sa akong katawohan gikan sa kamot sa mga Filistehanon: tungod kay ako nagsud-ong sa akong katawohan, tungod kay ang ilang pagtu-aw midangat kanako.
17 When Samuel saw Saul, Yahweh said to him, “This is the man I told you about yesterday! He is the one who will rule my people!”
Ug sa diha nga si Samuel nakakita kang Saul, si Jehova, miingon kaniya: Ania karon, ang tawo nga akong gisulti kanimo! ang mao nga tawo magaadunay pagbulot-an ibabaw sa akong katawohan.
18 Saul saw Samuel as he was sitting at the town gateway [but he did not know that it was Samuel]. He went over to him and asked him, “Can you tell me, where is the house of the man who sees [(visions from God/all that God sees)]?”
Unya si Saul mipahaduol kang Samuel didto sa ganghaan, ug miingon: Suginli ako, ako nagahangyo kanimo, hain ba ang balay sa magtatan-aw.
19 Samuel replied, “I am that man. Go ahead of me with your servant to the place where the people make sacrifices. Both of you will eat with me today. Tomorrow morning I will tell you what you are wanting to know, and then I will send you home.
Ug si Samuel mitubag kang Saul, ug miingon: Ako mao ang magtatan-aw: Tumungas ka nga una kanako ngadto sa hataas nga dapit, kay ikaw magakaon uban kanako niining adlawa: ug sa pagkabuntag ikaw akong palakton, ug magasugilon kanimo sa tanan nga anaa sa imong kasingkasing.
20 Also, do not worry any more about those donkeys that wandered away three days ago. (Someone has found them/They have been found). But [what you need to know is that] it is you and your family that all the Israeli people are wanting!” [RHQ]
Ug mahitungod sa imong mga asno nga nangawala sa may totolo na karon ka adlaw nga nangagi, ayaw pag-ibutang ang imong hunahuna niana; kay sila hingkaplagan na. Ug alang kang kinsa ba ang tanan nga pagatinguhaon sa Israel? Dili ba kana alang kanimo, ug sa tibook nga balay sa imong amahan?
21 Saul replied, “I am from the tribe of Benjamin [RHQ]. That is the smallest tribe in Israel [RHQ]! And my family is the least important family in our tribe! So why are you talking to me like this, [about the Israeli people wanting me and my family]?”
Ug si Saul mitubag ug miingon: Dili ba ako Benjaminhon, gikan sa kinagamayan sa mga banay sa Israel? Ug ang akong panimalay ang kinadiyutayan sa tanang mga panimalay sa banay sa Benjamin? Busa ngano nga ikaw nagasulti kanako sa ingon niini nga paagiha?
22 Then Samuel brought Saul and the servant into the big dining room, and told them to sit at the head [of the table, indicating that he was] honoring them more than he was honoring the 30 people who had been invited.
Ug gidala ni Samuel si Saul ug ang iyang sulogoon, ug gidala sila ngadto sa lawak sa mga dumoduaw ug gipalingkod sila sa kinalabwan nga dapit, uban kanila ang mga dinapit nga may katloan ka tawo.
23 Then Samuel told the cook, “Bring to me the special piece [of meat] that I told you to set aside.”
Ug si Samuel miingon sa magluluto: Dad-a ang bahin nga akong gihatag kanimo, nga akong giingon kanimo: Ibutang kana tupad kanimo.
24 So the cook brought the leg and the meat that was on it, and set it in front of Saul, [even though those portions were for only the priest to eat]. Samuel said to Saul, “Start eating it. I told the cook to save this for you, so that you could eat it at this time, when all these people whom I invited are here.” So Saul and Samuel ate together.
Ug ang magluluto mikuha sa paa, ug kadtong diha sa ibabaw niana, ug gibutang kana sa atubangan ni Saul. Ug si Samuel miingon: Ania karon, kana nga gilain! ibutang kana sa imong atubangan ug kumaon; tungod kay sa natudlo nga panahon kana gitipigan alang kanimo, kay ako miingon: Ako nagdapit sa katawohan. Busa si Saul mikaon uban kang Samuel niadtong adlawa.
25 After they finished eating, they returned to the town. Then Samuel took Saul up to the [flat] roof [of his house], and fixed a bed for him.
Ug sa diha nga sila minglugsong gikan sa hataas nga dapit ngadto sa ciudad, siya nakigsabutsabut uban kang Saul didto sa ibabaw sa atop sa balay.
26 As the sun was rising the next morning, Samuel called up to Saul, “Get up! It is time for me to send you on the road back home.” So Saul got up, and [later] Samuel and Saul left the house together.
Ug sila mingbangon pagsayo: ug nahitabo sa haduol na ang pagbanag-banag sa adlaw, nga si Samuel nagpatawag kang Saul ngadto sa ibabaw sa atop, nga nagaingon: Bangon, aron palakton ko ikaw. Ug si Saul mibangon ug nangadto silang duruha ngadto sa gawas, siya ug si Samuel.
27 When they got to the edge of the town, Samuel told Saul to send his servant ahead. After the servant left, Samuel said to Saul, “Stay here for a few minutes, in order that I can give you a message I received from God.”
Samtang sila nagpadulong na sa kinatumyan sa ciudad, si Samuel miingon kang Saul: Sugoa ang sulogoon sa pagpauna kanato (ug miuna siya) apan humunong ka pag-una, ug ayaw paglihok aron padunggon ko ikaw sa pulong sa Dios.
