1 Samuel 29
1 The Philistia army gathered at Aphek [Valley, which is near Shunem]. The Israelis set up their tents at Jezreel [city, which was in the same valley].
Or les Philistins assemblèrent toutes leurs armées à Aphek; et les Israëlites étaient campés près de la fontaine de Jizréhel.
2 The kings of Philistia divided their men into groups; some groups had 100 soldiers and some groups had 1,000 soldiers. David and his men were marching behind, with King Achish.
Et les Gouverneurs des Philistins passèrent par [leurs] centaines et par [leurs] milliers; et David et ses gens passèrent sur l'arrière-garde avec Akis.
3 But the Philistia commanders asked, “What are these Hebrews [doing here, marching with us to battle]?” Achish replied, “[Their leader is] David. [He] previously worked for King Saul of Israel, but now he has been living near me for more than a year. During all the time since he left Saul, I have not seen/found that he has any faults.”
Et les chefs des Philistins dirent: Qu'est-ce que ces Hébreux-là? Et Akis répondit aux chefs des Philistins: N'est-ce pas ici ce David, serviteur de Saül Roi d'Israël, qui a déjà été avec moi quelque temps, même quelques années? et je n'ai rien trouvé à redire en lui depuis le jour qu'il s'est rendu [à moi], jusqu'à ce jour.
4 But the Philistia army commanders were angry with Achish [for allowing David’s army to be going with them]. They said to him, “Send David [and his men] back to the city that you gave to him! We do not want him to go with us into the battle. [If he goes with us, ] we will have an enemy in our own midst! He would please King Saul by killing our own soldiers [RHQ]!
Mais les chefs des Philistins se mirent en colère contre lui, et lui dirent: Renvoie cet homme, et qu'il s'en retourne dans le lieu où tu l'as établi, et qu'il ne descende point avec nous dans la bataille, de peur qu'il ne se tourne contre nous dans la bataille; car comment pourrait-il se remettre en grâce avec son Seigneur? ne serait-ce pas par le moyen des têtes de ces hommes-ci?
5 [Have you forgotten that] David is the one about whom the Israelis dance and sing, saying, ‘Saul has killed 1000 of our enemies, but David has killed 10,000 of them!’?”
N'est-ce pas ici ce David, duquel on s'entre-répondait aux danses, en disant? Saül en a frappé ses mille et David ses dix mille?
6 So Achish summoned David, and said to him, “Just as surely as Yahweh lives, you have been loyal to me. I would like very much for you to fight along with my army. Since the day that you came to me, I have not found/seen that you have any faults. But the other Philistia rulers do not trust you.
Akis donc appela David, et lui dit: L'Eternel est vivant, que tu es certainement un homme droit, et que ta conduite au camp m'a paru bonne, car je n'ai point trouvé de mal en toi, depuis le jour que tu es venu à moi jusqu'à ce jour; mais tu ne plais point aux Gouverneurs.
7 So all of you go back home, and I hope/desire that things will go well for you. I do not want you(sg) to do anything that the other rulers of Philistia will not be pleased with.”
Maintenant donc retourne-t'en, et t'en va en paix, afin que tu ne fasses aucune chose qui déplaise aux Gouverneurs des Philistins.
8 David replied, “What wrong have I done? Since the day that I first came to you until today, have I done anything that you think is evil? Your majesty, why will you not allow me to go and fight against your enemies?”
Et David dit à Akis: Mais qu'ai-je fait? et qu'as-tu trouvé en ton serviteur depuis le jour que j'ai été avec toi jusqu'à ce jour, que je n'aille point combattre contre les ennemis du Roi mon Seigneur?
9 Achish replied, “I know that you are as just as good as an angel from God. But the commanders of my army have said, ‘We will not allow David [and his men] to go with us into the battle.’
Et Akis répondit et dit à David: Je le sais: car tu es agréable à mes yeux, comme un Ange de Dieu; mais c'est seulement que les chefs des Philistins ont dit: Il ne montera point avec nous dans la bataille.
10 So early tomorrow morning you and your men must leave. Get up as soon as it is light and leave.”
C'est pourquoi lève-toi de bon matin, avec les serviteurs de ton Seigneur qui sont venus avec toi; et étant levés de bon matin, sitôt que vous verrez le jour, allez-vous-en.
11 So David and his men got up early the following morning and returned to the area where the Philistia people lived. And the Philistia army went up to Jezreel.
Ainsi David se leva de bon matin, lui et ses gens, pour partir dès le matin, [et] s'en retourner au pays des Philistins; mais les Philistins montèrent à Jizréhel.
