< 1 Samuel 21 >
1 David fled from there and went to Nob [city to see] Ahimelech the priest. Ahimelech trembled when he saw David [because he was afraid that something bad had happened]. He said to David, “Why are you alone? Why have no men come with you?”
Dafidi sì wá sí Nobu sọ́dọ̀ Ahimeleki àlùfáà, Ahimeleki sì bẹ̀rù láti pàdé Dafidi, ó sì wí fún un pé, “Èéha ti rí tí o fi ṣe ìwọ nìkan, àti tí kò sì sí ọkùnrin kan tí ó pẹ̀lú rẹ?”
2 David [deceived Ahimelech] by replying, “The king sent me. But he does not want anyone to know anything about what he sent me to do. I have told my men where [they should meet me].
Dafidi sì wí fún Ahimeleki àlùfáà pé, “Ọba pàṣẹ iṣẹ́ kan fún mi, ó sì wí fún mi pé, ‘Má ṣe jẹ́ kí ẹnìkan mọ ìdí iṣẹ́ náà ti mo rán ọ, àti èyí tí èmi ti pàṣẹ fún ọ.’ Èmi sì yan àwọn ìránṣẹ́ mi sí ibí báyìí.
3 Now [I want to know], do you have any [food here for me to eat] [IDM]? Could you give me five loaves of bread, or whatever [other food] that you can find?”
Ǹjẹ́ kín ni ó wà ní ọwọ́ rẹ̀? Fún mi ni ìṣù àkàrà márùn-ún tàbí ohunkóhun tí o bá rí.”
4 The priest answered David, “There is no ordinary bread here, but I have some of the sacred bread [that was placed before Yahweh]. Your men may eat it if they have not slept with [EUP] women [recently].”
Àlùfáà náà sí dá Dafidi lóhùn ó sì wí pé, “Kò sí àkàrà mìíràn lọ́wọ́ mi bí kò ṣe àkàrà mímọ́. Kìkì pé bi àwọn ọmọkùnrin bá ti pa ara wọn mọ́ kúrò lọ́dọ̀ obìnrin!”
5 David replied, “They have not been near women for many days. I do not allow my men to defile themselves by sleeping with women while they are preparing to fight in battles. They must continue to keep themselves acceptable to God when they are on ordinary trips, and [today they have kept themselves acceptable to God] because now we are doing something very special/important.”
Dafidi sì dá àlùfáà náà lóhùn, ó sì wí fún un pé, “Nítòótọ́ ni a tí ń pa ara wá mọ́ kúrò lọ́dọ̀ obìnrin láti ìwọ̀n ọjọ́ mẹ́ta wá, tí èmí ti jáde. Gbogbo nǹkan àwọn ọmọkùnrin náà ni ó mọ́, àti àkàrà náà sì wá dàbí àkàrà mìíràn, pàápàá nígbà tí ó jẹ́ pé òmíràn wà tí a yà sí mímọ́ lónìí nínú ohun èlò náà!”
6 The only bread that the priest had was the sacred bread that had been placed in Yahweh’s presence [in the Sacred tent]. So the priest gave David some of that bread. On that day the priest had taken those loaves from the table and replaced them with (fresh/newly baked) loaves.
Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni àlùfáà náà sì fi àkàrà mímọ́ fún un; nítorí tí kò sí àkàrà mìíràn níbẹ̀ bí kò ṣe àkàrà ìfihàn tí a ti kó kúrò níwájú Olúwa, láti fi àkàrà gbígbóná síbẹ̀ ní ọjọ́ tí a kó o kúrò.
7 It happened that Doeg, from the Edom people-group, was there on that day to make himself acceptable to Yahweh, [and he saw what Ahimelech did]. He was one of Saul’s officials and the leader of Saul’s shepherds.
Ọkùnrin kan nínú àwọn ìránṣẹ́ Saulu sì ń bẹ níbẹ̀ lọ́jọ́ náà, tí a tí dádúró síwájú Olúwa; orúkọ rẹ̀ sì ń jẹ́ Doegi, ará Edomu olórí nínú àwọn darandaran Saulu.
8 David asked Ahimelech, “Do you have a spear or a sword [that I could use]? The king [appointed us to do] this task [and told us to leave] immediately, so I did not have time to bring any weapons.”
Dafidi sì tún wí fún Ahimeleki pé, “Kò sí ọ̀kọ̀ tàbí idà lọ́wọ́ rẹ níhìn-ín? Nítorí tí èmi kò mú idà mi, bẹ́ẹ̀ ni èmi kò mú nǹkan ìjà mi lọ́wọ́, nítorí pé iṣẹ́ ọba náà jẹ́ iṣẹ́ ìkánjú.”
9 Ahimelech replied, “I have only the sword that belonged to Goliath [the giant] from the Philistia people-group whom you killed in Elah Valley. It is wrapped in a cloth, and is behind the sacred vest [in the Sacred Tent]. If you want it, take it, because I have no other [weapon] here.” David replied, “Truly, there is no other sword that is [as good] as that one! Give it to me.”
Àlùfáà náà sì wí pé, “Idà Goliati ará Filistini tí ó pa ní àfonífojì Ela ní ń bẹ, wò ó, a fi aṣọ kan wé e lẹ́yìn efodu; bí ìwọ yóò bá mú èyí, mú un; kò sì sí òmíràn níhìn-ín mọ́ bí kò ṣe ọ̀kan náà.” Dafidi sì wí pé, “Kò sí èyí tí ó dàbí rẹ̀ fún mi.”
10 [So Ahimelech gave it to him], and David left there. He [and his men] and went to Gath [city in the Philistia region], to stay with King Achish.
Dafidi sì dìde, o sì sá ni ọjọ́ náà níwájú Saulu, ó sì lọ sọ́dọ̀ Akiṣi, ọba Gati.
11 But the officers of King Achish [objected to David being there. They] said to King Achish, “This man is [RHQ] David, the king of Israel! He is the one [RHQ] whom [our enemies], the [Israeli] people, [honored by] dancing and singing, ‘Saul has killed thousands [of his enemies], but David has killed tens of thousands of them!’”
Àwọn ìránṣẹ́ Akiṣi sì wí fún un pé, “Èyí ha kọ́ ní Dafidi ọba ilẹ̀ náà? Ǹjẹ́ wọn kò ha ti dárin ti wọ́n sì gbe orin nítorí rẹ̀, tí wọ́n sì jó pé, “‘Saulu pa ẹgbẹ̀rún tirẹ̀. Dafidi sì pa ẹgbàárùn-ún tirẹ̀’?”
12 David heard what those men were saying, so he was afraid of [what] King Achish [might do to him].
Dafidi sì pa ọ̀rọ̀ wọ̀nyí í mọ́ ni ọkàn rẹ̀, ó sì bẹ̀rù Akiṣi ọba Gati gidigidi.
13 So he pretended that he was insane. He started scratching on the gates [of the city] and allowing his saliva to run down his beard.
Òun sì pa ìṣe rẹ̀ dà níwájú wọn, ó sì sọ ara rẹ̀ di aṣiwèrè ní ọwọ́ wọn, ó sì ń fi ọwọ́ rẹ̀ ha ìlẹ̀kùn ojú ọ̀nà, ó sì ń wá itọ́ sí irùngbọ̀n rẹ̀.
14 Then King Achish said to his men, “Look at this man! He is acting like an insane man! Why have you brought him to me?
Nígbà náà ni Akiṣi wí fún àwọn ìránṣẹ́ rẹ̀ pé, “Wó o, nítorí kín ni ẹ̀yin ṣe mú un tọ̀ mí wá.
15 Have you brought him because I do not have enough insane men here already [RHQ]? I do not want [RHQ] him to come into my house!”
Mo ha ni un fi aṣiwèrè ṣe? Tí ẹ̀yin fi mú èyí tọ̀ mí wá láti hu ìwà aṣiwèrè níwájú mi? Eléyìí yóò ha wọ inú ilé mi?”
