1 Samuel 20
1 David ran away from [the] Naioth [section] of Ramah [city]. He went to Jonathan and asked him, “What have I done [to displease your father]? What did I do that was wrong? Why is he trying to kill me?”
௧தாவீது ராமாவிலிருந்த நாயோதிலிருந்து ஓடிப்போய், யோனத்தான் முன்பாக வந்து: உம்முடைய தகப்பன் என்னுடைய ஜீவனை வாங்கத் தேடுகிறாரே, நான் செய்தது என்ன? என்னுடைய அக்கிரமம் என்ன? நான் அவருக்குச் செய்த துரோகம் என்ன? என்றான்.
2 Jonathan replied, “My father is surely not trying to kill you! He always tells me before he does anything that he is planning. He tells me about important things and unimportant things that he plans to do. (Why would he refuse to tell me [if he were planning to kill me]?/I am sure that he would not refuse to tell me [if he were planning to kill you].) [RHQ] So what you are saying cannot be true.”
௨அதற்கு அவன்: அப்படி ஒருபோதும் வராது; நீர் சாவதில்லை, இதோ, எனக்கு அறிவிக்காமல் என்னுடைய தகப்பன் பெரிய காரியமானாலும், சிறிய காரியமானாலும் ஒன்றும் செய்வதில்லை; இந்தக் காரியத்தை என்னுடைய தகப்பன் எனக்கு மறைப்பானேன்? அப்படி இருக்காது என்றான்.
3 Then David solemnly declared this to Jonathan: “Your father knows very well that you and I are very good friends, so he says to himself, ‘I will not tell Jonathan [what I am going to do]. If I tell Jonathan, he will be upset/distressed, [and then he will tell David].’ But just as certain as Yahweh lives and you live, I am only one step away from being killed.”
௩அப்பொழுது தாவீது: உம்முடைய கண்களில் எனக்குத் தயை கிடைத்தது என்று உம்முடைய தகப்பன் நன்றாக அறிவார்; ஆகையால் யோனத்தானுக்கு மனவருத்தம் உண்டாகாதபடி அவன் இதை அறியக்கூடாது என்பார்; மரணத்திற்கும் எனக்கும் ஒரு அடி தூரம் மாத்திரம் இருக்கிறது என்று யெகோவாவுடைய ஜீவனையும் உம்முடைய ஜீவனையும் கொண்டு நிச்சயமாய்ச் சொல்லுகிறேன் என்று பதில் சொல்லி ஆணையிட்டான்.
4 Jonathan said to David, “I will do whatever you tell me to do.”
௪அப்பொழுது யோனத்தான் தாவீதைப் பார்த்து: உமது மனவிருப்பம் என்ன என்று சொல்லும், அதின்படி உமக்குச் செய்வேன் என்றான்.
5 David replied, “Tomorrow we will celebrate the Festival of the New Moon. I always eat with the king at that festival. But tomorrow I will hide in the field, and I will stay there for one night. I will stay there until the evening of the day after tomorrow.
௫தாவீது யோனத்தானை நோக்கி: இதோ, நாளைக்கு அமாவாசை, நான் ராஜாவோடு பந்தியில் சாப்பிடவேண்டியதாயிருக்கும்; ஆனாலும் நான் மூன்றாம் நாள் சாயங்காலம் வரை வெளியிலே ஒளிந்திருக்கும்படி எனக்கு உத்திரவு கொடும்.
6 If your father asks why I am not there at the festival, say to him, ‘David requested me to allow him to go to his home in Bethlehem, where his family will offer the sacrifice that they offer [during this festival] every year.’
௬உம்முடைய தகப்பன் என்னைக்குறித்து விசாரித்தால், தன்னுடைய ஊராகிய பெத்லெகேமிலே தன்னுடைய குடும்பத்தினர் எல்லோரும் வருடத்திற்கு ஒருமுறை பலியிட வருகிறபடியால் தாவீது அந்த இடத்திற்குப் போக என்னிடத்தில் வருந்திக் கேட்டான் என்று நீர் சொல்லும்.
7 If your father says ‘That is okay’, then I know I will be safe. But if he becomes extremely angry, you will know that he is determined to harm me.
௭அதற்கு அவர் நல்லது என்றால், உம்முடைய அடியானுக்குச் சமாதானம் இருக்கும்; அவருக்கு எரிச்சலுண்டானால், அவராலே தீமை உறுதிப்பட்டிருக்கிறது என்று அறிந்துகொள்வீர்கள்.
8 Please be kind to me. Yahweh heard you when you made a solemn agreement with me [that you and I will always be loyal friends]. If I deserve to be punished [MTY], kill me yourself. I do not want [RHQ] you to allow your father to punish [IDM] me.”
௮ஆகவே, உம்முடைய அடியானுக்குத் தயை செய்யவேண்டும்; யெகோவாவுக்கு முன்பாக உம்முடைய அடியானோடே உடன்படிக்கை செய்திருக்கிறீரே; என்னில் ஒரு அக்கிரமம் இருந்தால், நீரே என்னைக் கொன்றுபோடும்; நீர் என்னை உம்முடைய தகப்பனிடத்திற்குக் கொண்டு போகவேண்டியது என்ன என்றான்.
9 Jonathan replied, “I will never do that! But if I find out that my father is determined to harm/kill you, I will certainly warn you.” [RHQ]
௯அப்பொழுது யோனத்தான்: அப்படி உமக்கு வராதிருப்பதாக; உமக்கு தீமை செய்ய என் தகப்பனாலே உறுதிப்பட்டிருக்கிறது என்று நான் நிச்சயமாய் அறிந்தால் நான் அதை உமக்கு அறிவிக்காதிருப்பேனா என்றான்.
10 David asked him, “How will I find out if your father answers you harshly?”
௧0தாவீது யோனத்தானை நோக்கி: உம்முடைய தகப்பன் கடினமான பதில் சொன்னால் அதை யார் எனக்கு அறிவிப்பார் என்றான்.
11 Jonathan replied, “Come with me. We will go out into the field.” So they went together out into the field.
௧௧அப்பொழுது யோனத்தான் தாவீதைப் பார்த்து: ஊருக்கு வெளியே போவோம் வாரும் என்றான்; இருவரும் வெளியே புறப்பட்டுப்போனார்கள்.
12 There Jonathan said to David, “I promise this while Yahweh, the God whom we Israelis [worship], is listening: At this time the day after tomorrow, I will find out what my father [is thinking about you]. If he is saying good things about you, I will certainly send a message to you to tell that to you [RHQ].
௧௨அப்பொழுது யோனத்தான் இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனாகிய யெகோவாவை முன்னிட்டு தாவீதைப் பார்த்து: நான் நாளையோ மறுநாளிலோ என்னுடைய தகப்பனுடைய மனதை அறிந்துகொண்டு, அவர் தாவீதின்மேல் தயவாக இருக்கிறார் என்று கண்டும், அதை அப்போது உமது செவிகளுக்கு வெளிப்படுத்தும்படி, உமக்குச் சொல்லியனுப்பாமலிருந்தால்,
13 But if he is planning to hurt/kill you, I will enable you to know [IDM] that, and enable you to go away safely. I desire that Yahweh will punish me severely if I do not do that [for you]. I desire/hope that Yahweh will be with you [and help you] like he has helped my father.
௧௩இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனாகிய யெகோவா யோனத்தானுக்கு அதற்குச் சரியாகவும் அதற்கு அதிகமாகவும் செய்யட்டும்; ஆனாலும் உமக்குத் தீங்குசெய்ய என்னுடைய தகப்பனுக்குப் பிரியமாக இருந்தால், அதை உமது செவிகளுக்கு வெளிப்படுத்தி, நீர் சமாதானத்தோடு போகும்படி உம்மை அனுப்பிவிடுவேன்; யெகோவா என்னுடைய தகப்பனோடு இருந்ததுபோல், உம்மோடும் இருப்பாராக.
14 But while I am still alive, please be kind to me in the same way that Yahweh is kind to me, and do not kill me [when you become king].
௧௪மேலும், நான் உயிரோடிருக்கும்போது, நான் சாகாதபடி நீர் யெகோவாவின் நிமித்தமாக எனக்குத் தயை செய்யவேண்டியதும் அன்றி,
15 But [if I die, ] never stop being kind to my family, [even] after Yahweh has gotten rid of all your enemies all over the earth.”
௧௫யெகோவா தாவீதின் எதிரிகள் ஒருவரையும் பூமியின்மேல் இல்லாதபடி, வேர் அறுக்கும்போதும், நீர் என்றென்றைக்கும் உமது தயவை என்னுடைய வீட்டைவிட்டு அகற்றிவிடாமலும் இருக்கவேண்டும் என்றான்.
16 [David agreed]. So Jonathan made a solemn agreement with David. And he said, “I hope/desire that Yahweh will get rid of all your enemies.”
௧௬இப்படி யோனத்தான் தாவீதின் குடும்பத்தோடு உடன்படிக்கைசெய்து, தாவீதுடைய எதிரிகளின் கையிலே யெகோவா கணக்குக் கேட்பாராக என்று சொல்லி,
17 And Jonathan requested David to repeat his solemn promise to be his close friend, because Jonathan loved David as much as he loved himself.
௧௭யோனத்தான் தாவீதை மிகவும் நேசித்தபடியால், பின்னும் அவனுக்கு ஆணையிட்டான்; தன்னுடைய உயிரை நேசித்ததுபோல அவனை நேசித்தான்.
18 Then Jonathan said, “Tomorrow we will celebrate the Festival of the New Moon. When you are not sitting at your place when we eat, my father will (miss you/see that you are not there).
௧௮பின்பு யோனத்தான் தாவீதைப் பார்த்து: நாளைக்கு அமாவாசை, நீர் உட்காரவேண்டிய இடம் காலியாக இருப்பதால் உம்மைக்குறித்து விசாரிக்கப்படும்.
19 The day after tomorrow, in the evening, go to the place where you hid before. Wait by the pile of stones.
௧௯காரியம் நடந்தபோது, மூன்றாம் நாளிலே நீர் ஒளிந்திருக்கும் இடத்திற்கு விரைவாக வந்து, ஏசேல் என்னும் கல்லின் அருகில் உட்கார்ந்திரும்.
20 I will come out and shoot three arrows as though I were trying to shoot at a target. [The arrows will hit the ground] close to the pile of stones.
௨0அப்பொழுது நான் குறிப்பு வைத்து எய்கிறதுபோல, அதற்குப் பக்கமாக மூன்று அம்புகளை எய்து:
21 Then I will send a boy to bring the arrows back to me. If you hear me say to him, ‘They are closer to me’, then as surely as Yahweh lives, you will know that everything is fine, [and that Saul will not kill you].
௨௧நீ போய், அந்த அம்புகளைத் தேடி வா என்று ஒரு சிறுவனை அனுப்புவேன்; இதோ, அம்புகள் உனக்கு இப்புறத்திலே கிடக்கிறது, அவைகளை எடுத்துக்கொண்டுவா என்று சிறுவனிடத்தில் நான் சொன்னால், நீர் வாரும்; அப்பொழுது ஒன்றும் இல்லை, உமக்குச் சமாதானம் இருக்கும் என்று யெகோவாவுடைய ஜீவனைக்கொண்டு சொல்லுகிறேன்.
22 But if I tell him, ‘The arrows are farther away’, you will know that you must leave immediately, because Yahweh wants you to run away.
௨௨இதோ, அம்புகள் உனக்கு அப்புறத்திலே கிடக்கிறது என்று நான் அந்த சிறுவனிடத்தில் சொன்னால், நீர் போய்விடும்; அப்பொழுது யெகோவா உம்மைப் போகச்சொல்லுகிறார் என்று அறிந்துகொள்.
23 I hope/desire that Yahweh will watch you and me and enable us to never forget what we have promised each other.”
௨௩நீரும் நானும் பேசிக்கொண்ட காரியத்திற்கு, இதோ, யெகோவா எனக்கும் உமக்கும் என்றைக்கும் நடுநிற்கும் சாட்சி என்றான்.
24 So David went and hid in the field. When the Festival of the New Moon started, the king sat down to eat.
௨௪அப்படியே தாவீது வெளியிலே ஒளிந்துகொண்டிருந்தான்; அமாவாசையானபோது ராஜா சாப்பிட உட்கார்ந்தான்.
25 He sat where he usually sat, close to the wall. Jonathan sat across from him, and Abner [the army commander] sat next to Saul. But no one was sitting in the place where David [usually sat].
௨௫ராஜா சுவரின் அருகிலிருக்கிற தன்னுடைய இடத்தில் எப்போதும்போல் உட்கார்ந்தபோது, யோனத்தான் எழுந்தான்; அப்னேரோ சவுலுடைய பக்கத்தில் உட்கார்ந்தான்; தாவீது இருக்கும் இடம் காலியாக இருந்தது.
26 On that day, Saul did not say anything about David, because he was thinking, “Something must have happened that caused David to become unacceptable [to worship God].”
௨௬ஆனாலும் அவன் தீட்டாயிருக்கிறானா, அவன் தீட்டுப்பட்டுத்தான் இருக்கவேண்டும் என்று அன்றையதினம் சவுல் ஒன்றும் சொல்லவில்லை.
27 But the next day, when David was not sitting at the place where he usually sat, Saul asked Jonathan, “Why has that son of Jesse not been here to eat with us yesterday and today?”
௨௭அமாவாசைக்கு மறுநாளிலும் தாவீது இருக்கும் இடம் காலியாக இருந்தது; அப்பொழுது சவுல்: ஈசாயின் மகன் நேற்றும் இன்றும் சாப்பாட்டிற்கு வராமல்போனது என்ன என்று தன்னுடைய மகனான யோனத்தானைக் கேட்டான்.
28 Jonathan replied, “David earnestly requested me that I permit him to go to Bethlehem.
௨௮யோனத்தான் சவுலுக்குப் பதிலாக: பெத்லெகேம்வரை போக, தாவீது என்னிடத்தில் வருந்திக்கேட்டு,
29 He said, ‘Please allow me to go, because our family is going to offer a sacrifice. My [older] brother insisted that I be there. So please allow me to go to be with my [older] brothers.’ [I allowed David to go], and that is the reason that he is not here eating with you.”
௨௯அங்கே நான் போகவேண்டும்; எங்கள் குடும்பத்தார் ஊரிலே பலியிடப் போகிறார்கள்; என்னுடைய சகோதரர்களில் ஒருவன் என்னை வரும்படி கட்டளையிட்டார்; உம்முடைய கண்களில் எனக்குத் தயை கிடைத்ததானால், நான் என் சகோதரர்களைப் பார்க்கிறதற்குப் போக எனக்கு உத்திரவு கொடும் என்றான்; இதனாலேதான் அவன் ராஜாவின் பந்திக்கு வரவில்லை என்றான்.
30 Saul was (furious/very angry) with Jonathan. He yelled at him, “You stupid bastard [EUP]! I know that you are being loyal to that son of Jesse. By doing that, you will bring shame to yourself and to your mother.
௩0அப்பொழுது சவுல் யோனத்தான்மேல் கோபப்பட்டு, அவனைப் பார்த்து: கலகமும் முரட்டாட்டமும் உள்ளவளின் மகனே, நீ உனக்கு வெட்கமாகவும், உன் தாயின் மானத்திற்கு வெட்கமாகவும், ஈசாயின் மகனைத் தோழனாகத் தெரிந்து கொண்டிருக்கிறதை நான் அறியேனோ?
31 As long as Jesse’s son is living, you will never become the king, and you will never rule over a kingdom! So now, summon David, and bring him to me. He must be executed!”
௩௧ஈசாயின் மகன் பூமியின்மேல் உயிரோடிருக்கும் நாள்வரையும் நீயானாலும், உன் அரசாட்சியானாலும் நிலைப்பதில்லை; இப்போதே அவனை அழைத்து, என்னிடத்தில் கொண்டுவா; அவன் சாகவேண்டும் என்றான்.
32 Jonathan asked his father, “Why should David be executed? What wrong has he done?”
௩௨யோனத்தான் தன்னுடைய தகப்பனாகிய சவுலுக்குப் பதிலாக; அவன் ஏன் கொல்லப்படவேண்டும்? அவன் என்ன செய்தான் என்றான்.
33 Then Saul threw his spear at Jonathan in order to kill him, [but the spear did not hit him]. So Jonathan knew that his father really wanted to kill David.
௩௩அப்பொழுது சவுல்: அவனைக் குத்திப்போட அவன்மேல் ஈட்டியை எறிந்தான்; ஆகையால் தாவீதைக் கொன்றுபோடத் தன்னுடைய தகப்பன் தீர்மானித்திருக்கிறான் என்பதை யோனத்தான் அறிந்துகொண்டு,
34 Jonathan was very angry, and he left the room. On that second day of the festival, he refused to eat anything. He was disgusted about what his father had done, and he was worried about David.
௩௪கோபத்தோடு பந்தியைவிட்டு எழுந்துபோய், அமாவாசையின் மறுநாளாகிய அன்றையதினம் சாப்பிடாமல் இருந்தான்; தன்னுடைய தகப்பன் தாவீதை நிந்தித்துச் சொன்னது அவனுக்கு மனவருத்தமாக இருந்தது.
35 The following morning Jonathan went out to the field to give a message to David, like he had agreed that he would do. He took a young boy with him.
௩௫மறுநாள் காலமே, யோனத்தான் தாவீதுக்குக் குறித்த நேரத்திலே ஒரு சிறுவனைகூட்டிக்கொண்டு, வெளியே புறப்பட்டுப்போய்:
36 Jonathan said to the boy, “Run and find the arrows that I shoot.” The boy started running, and Jonathan shot an arrow ahead of the boy.
௩௬சிறுவனை பார்த்து: நீ ஓடி, நான் எய்கிற அம்புகளைத் தேடி எடுத்துக்கொண்டுவா என்று சொல்லி, அந்தப் சிறுவன் ஓடும்போது, அவனுக்கு அப்பால் போகும்படி ஒரு அம்பை எய்தான்.
37 When the boy ran to the place where the arrow hit the ground, Jonathan called out, “The arrow is further away!” [RHQ]
௩௭யோனத்தான் எய்த அம்பு இருக்கும் இடம்வரை சிறுவன் போனபோது, அம்பு உனக்கு இன்னும் அப்பால் இருக்கிறது அல்லவா என்று யோனத்தான் சிறுவனுக்கு பின்னால் இருந்து கூப்பிட்டான்.
38 Then he shouted to the boy, “Act quickly; do not wait! Do not stop!” The boy picked up the arrow and brought it back to Jonathan.
௩௮நீ நிற்காமல் விரைவாக சீக்கிரமாகப் போ என்றும் யோனத்தான் சிறுவனுக்குப் பின்னால் இருந்து கூப்பிட்டான்; அப்படியே யோனத்தானின் சிறுவன் அம்புகளைப் பொறுக்கி, தன்னுடைய எஜமானிடத்தில் கொண்டு வந்தான்.
39 But the boy did not understand the meaning of what Jonathan had said; only Jonathan and David knew.
௩௯அந்தக் காரியம் யோனத்தானுக்கும் தாவீதுக்கும் தெரிந்திருந்ததேயல்லாமல், அந்த சிறுவனுக்கு ஒன்றும் தெரியாதிருந்தது.
40 Then Jonathan gave his bow and arrows to the boy and told him, “Go back to the town.”
௪0அப்பொழுது யோனத்தான்: தன்னுடைய ஆயுதங்களை சிறுவனிடத்தில் கொடுத்து, இவைகளைப் கிபியா பட்டணத்திற்குக் கொண்டுபோ என்றான்.
41 When the boy left, David came out from the south side of the pile of stones behind which he had been hiding. He went to Jonathan and bowed [in front of Jonathan] three times, with his face touching the ground. Then David and Jonathan kissed each other [on the cheek/neck], and they cried together. But David cried more than Jonathan.
௪௧சிறுவன் போனபின்பு, தாவீது தென்புறமான இடத்திலிருந்து எழுந்து வந்து, தரையிலே முகங்குப்புற விழுந்து, மூன்று முறை வணங்கினான்; அவர்கள் ஒருவரை ஒருவர் முத்தம்செய்து அழுதார்கள்; தாவீது மிகவும் அழுதான்.
42 Jonathan said to David, “May things go well for you as you go. Yahweh has heard what we solemnly promised to always do for each other, and what we said that our descendants must do for each other.” Then David left, and Jonathan went back to the town.
௪௨அப்பொழுது யோனத்தான் தாவீதை நோக்கி: நீர் சமாதானத்தோடே போம், யெகோவா என்றைக்கும் எனக்கும் உமக்கும், என்னுடைய சந்ததிக்கும் உமது சந்ததிக்கும், நடுநிற்கும் சாட்சி என்று சொல்லி, யெகோவாவுடைய நாமத்தைக்கொண்டு நாம் இருவரும் ஆணையிட்டுக்கொண்டதை நினைத்துக்கொள்ளும் என்றான். பின்பு அவன் எழுந்து புறப்பட்டுப் போனான்; யோனத்தானோ பட்டணத்திற்குப் போய்விட்டான்.
