1 Kings 19
1 When Ahab got home, he told [his wife] Jezebel what Elijah had done. He told her that Elijah had killed all the prophets of Baal.
अहाब ने एलियाह के सारे कामों का वर्णन ईजेबेल को जा सुनाया, कि किस प्रकार उसने बाल के सारे भविष्यवक्ताओं को तलवार से घात कर दिया था.
2 So Jezebel sent this message to Elijah: “By this time tomorrow I will have [killed] you, just like you [killed all those prophets of Baal]. If I do not do that, I hope the gods will kill me.”
इस पर ईजेबेल ने एलियाह के पास एक दूत के द्वारा यह संदेश भेज दिया, “अगर कल इस समय तक मैं तुम्हारा जीवन उन भविष्यवक्ताओं में से एक के जीवन के समान न बना दूं, तो देवता मेरे साथ ऐसा ही, बल्कि इससे भी अधिक करें.”
3 When Elijah received [her message], he was afraid. So [taking his servant with him], he fled in order that he would not be killed. He went [far south] to Beersheba, in Judah. He left his servant there.
यह सुन एलियाह इतने डर गए, कि वह अपने प्राण लेकर भागे. वह भागते हुए यहूदिया के बेअरशेबा नगर जा पहुंचे. उन्होंने अपने सेवक को वहीं छोड़ दिया,
4 Then he went by himself further [south] into the desert. He walked all day. He sat down under a broom tree and prayed that [Yahweh] would allow him to die. He said, “Yahweh, I’ve had enough. So allow me to die, because for me to live is no better than [being with] my ancestors [who have died].”
और वह खुद एक दिन की यात्रा कर बंजर भूमि में जा पहुंचे, जहां वह एक झाऊ के पेड़ के नीचे बैठ गए. वहां उन्होंने इन शब्दों में अपनी मृत्यु की प्रार्थना की, “याहवेह, अब तो बहुत हो चुका. मेरे प्राण ले लीजिए. मुझमें मेरे पूर्वजों की तुलना में कुछ भी अच्छा नहीं है.”
5 Then he lay down under the broom tree and slept. But while he was sleeping, an angel touched him and [woke him up and] said to him, “Get up and eat some food!”
वह उस झाऊ के पेड़ के नीचे लेट गए और वहीं सो गए. एक स्वर्गदूत वहां आया और उन्हें छूकर उनसे कहा, “उठिए, भोजन कर लीजिए.”
6 Elijah looked around and saw some bread which had been baked on hot stones, and he also saw a jar of water. So he ate some bread and drank some water and lay down [to sleep] again.
उन्होंने देखा कि उनके सिर के पास रोटी रखी थी, जो गर्म पत्थर पर पकाई हुई थी, और वहीं एक बर्तन में पानी भी रखा था. उन्होंने भोजन किया, जल पिया और दोबारा लेट गए.
7 Then the angel [who had been sent by] Yahweh came again and touched him, and said, “Get up and eat some [more] food, because you need [more strength] to go on a long journey.”
याहवेह का दूत दूसरी बार उनके पास प्रकट हुआ, उन्हें छुआ और उनसे कहा, “उठिए, भोजन कीजिए. आपको एक लंबी यात्रा करनी है.”
8 So he got up and ate and drank some more, and because of doing that, he got enough strength to enable him to travel for forty days and nights to Sinai Mountain, the mountain [that was dedicated to] God.
एलियाह उठे, उन्होंने भोजन किया, जल पिया और उसी भोजन से बल पाकर चालीस दिन और चालीस रात लगातार चलते-चलते वह परमेश्वर के पर्वत होरेब पहुंच गए.
9 He went into a cave there and slept there that night. [The next morning, ] Yahweh said to him “Elijah, why are you here?”
वहां पहुंचकर उन्होंने एक गुफा में शरण ली. उनके लिए वहां याहवेह का भेजा यह संदेश मिला, “तुम यहां क्या कर रहे हो, एलियाह?”
10 Elijah replied, “I have zealously served you, Yahweh, God Almighty. But the Israeli people have broken the agreement that they made with you. They have torn down your altars, and they have killed all of your prophets. I am the only one whom they have not killed, and now they are trying to kill me, too. [So I am running away from them].”
एलियाह ने उत्तर दिया, “मैं सर्वशक्तिमान याहवेह परमेश्वर के लिए बहुत ही उत्साही रहा हूं; मगर इस्राएलियों ने आपकी वाचा को त्याग दिया है, आपकी वेदियां गिरा दी हैं, और तलवार से आपके भविष्यवक्ताओं को मार दिया है और मैं, सिर्फ मैं, बाकी रह गया हूं. अब वे मेरे प्राणों के खोजी हैं, कि वे उन्हें भी ले लें.”
11 Yahweh said to him, “Go out and stand in front of me on this mountain while I pass by.” [Suddenly] a strong windstorm struck the mountain. As a result, rocks were loosened from the mountainside. But Yahweh was not in the wind. Then there was an earthquake, but Yahweh was not in the earthquake.
उन्होंने आदेश दिया, “बाहर निकलकर पर्वत पर याहवेह के सामने खड़े हो जाओ, याहवेह वहां से होकर अभी निकल रहे हैं!” तब याहवेह के आगे-आगे प्रचंड आंधी ने पहाड़ को हिला दिया, चट्टानें तड़क गईं, मगर याहवेह की उपस्थिति वायु में न थी. प्रचंड आंधी के बाद एक भूकंप आया, मगर याहवेह की उपस्थिति भूकंप में भी न थी.
12 Then there was a fire, but Yahweh was not in the fire. Then there was a sound like someone whispering quietly.
भूकंप के बाद आग बरसी, मगर याहवेह की उपस्थिति आग में भी न थी, आग के बाद एक धीमी सी आवाज!
13 When Elijah heard that, he wrapped his cloak around his face. He went out of the cave and stood at its entrance. And he heard Yahweh speaking to him, saying again, “Elijah, why are you here?”
जब एलियाह ने यह सुना, उसने अपने वस्त्र से अपना मुख ढांप लिया. वह गुफा से बाहर निकल गुफा के द्वार पर खड़े हो गए. तब उन्हें एक आवाज सुनाई दी, “एलियाह, तुम यहां क्या कर रहे हो?”
14 He replied again, “I have zealously served you, Yahweh, God Almighty. But the Israeli people have broken the agreement that they made with you. They have torn down your altars, and they have killed all of your prophets. I am the only one whom they have not killed, and now they are trying to kill me, too. [So I am running away from them].”
एलियाह ने उत्तर दिया, “मैं सर्वशक्तिमान याहवेह परमेश्वर के लिए बहुत ही उत्साही रहा हूं; मगर इस्राएलियों ने आपकी वाचा को त्याग दिया है, आपकी वेदियां गिरा दी हैं, और तलवार से आपके भविष्यवक्ताओं को मार दिया है, और सिर्फ मैं बाकी रह गया हूं, अब वे मुझे भी मारने की कोशिश कर रहे हैं.”
15 Then Yahweh told him, “Go back to the desert near Damascus. When you arrive there, anoint [with olive oil] a man named Hazael, [to appoint him] to be the king of Syria.
याहवेह ने उन्हें आदेश दिया, “दमेशेक के बंजर भूमि के मार्ग पर चले जाओ, वहां पहुंचकर अराम के राजपद के लिए हाज़ाएल का राजाभिषेक करना,
16 Then anoint Jehu, the son of Nimshi, to be the king of Israel, and also anoint Elisha the son of Shaphat, from Abel-Meholah [town], to become my prophet after you are dead.
इस्राएल के राजपद के लिए निमशी के पुत्र येहू का राजाभिषेक करना और अपने स्थान पर भविष्यद्वक्ता होने के लिए आबेल-मेहोलाह वासी शाफात के पुत्र एलीशा का अभिषेक करना.
17 Hazael’s army [will kill many people, and] those who escape from [being killed by] his army will be killed by Jehu’s [army], and those who escape from [being killed by] Jehu’s army will be killed by Elisha.
तब जो कोई हाज़ाएल की तलवार से बच निकलेगा, उसको येहू मार देगा. और जो कोई येहू की तलवार से बच निकलेगा, उसके प्राण एलीशा ले लेगा.
18 But [you need to know that] there are still 7,000 people in Israel who have never bowed to [worship] Baal or kissed his [idol].”
फिर भी इस्राएल देश में मैं उन सात हज़ार व्यक्तियों को बचाकर रखूंगा, जिन्होंने न तो बाल के सामने घुटने टेके हैं और न अपने होंठों से उसका चुंबन ही लिया है.”
19 So Elijah went [to Syria] and found Elisha as he was plowing a field with a team of oxen. There were eleven other men who were in front of him, plowing with teams of oxen in the same field. Elijah went to Elisha, and took off his own coat and put it on Elisha, [to show Elisha that he wanted him to take his place as a prophet. Then he started to walk away].
तब एलियाह वहां से चल दिए. उन्हें शाफात के पुत्र एलीशा खेत में हल चलाते हुए मिले. हल में बारह जोड़े बैल जुते हुए थे, और वह खुद बारहवीं जोड़ी के साथ थे. एलीशा के पास से निकलते हुए एलियाह ने अपना बाहरी कपड़ा उन पर डाल दिया.
20 Elisha left the oxen standing there and ran after Elijah, and said to him, “I will go with you, but first let me kiss my parents goodbye.” Elijah replied, “Okay, go home. But do not forget why I have [given my cloak] to you!”
एलीशा अपने बैलों को वहीं छोड़ एलियाह के पीछे दौड़े और उन्होंने एलियाह से कहा, “मुझे आज्ञा दीजिए कि मैं अपने पिता और माता का चुंबन ले सकूं; तब लौटकर मैं आपका अनुसरण करूंगा.” एलियाह ने उससे कहा, “जाओ मैं तुम्हें रोक नहीं रहा.”
21 So Elisha went back [to his oxen]. He killed them [and cut them in pieces] and used the wood from the plow to build a fire to roast the meat. He distributed the meat to the other people [in his town], and they all ate some. Then he went with Elijah and became his helper.
एलीशा एलियाह के पास से खेत में लौट आए, एक जोड़ी बैल लिए और उन्हें बलि के रूप में भेंट किया. उसके बाद जोते गए जूए को लेकर उससे उनके मांस को उबाला और उस मांस को लोगों में बांट दिया और उन्होंने भोजन किया. इसके बाद एलीशा एलियाह का अनुसरण करने चला गया और एलियाह के सेवक बन गया.
