1 Benjamin had five sons: Bela, Ashbel, Aharah,
And Benjamin became the father of Bela his firstborn, Ashbel the second, and Aharah the third,
Nohah the fourth, and Rapha the fifth.
3 The sons of Bela were Addar, Gera, Abihud,
And Bela had sons: Ard, and Gera, the father of Ehud.
4 Abishua, Naaman, Ahoah,
These are the sons of Ehud: Abishua, and Naaman, and Ahijah,
5 Gera, Shephuphan, and Huram.
and Gera, and Shephuphan, and Huram.
6 [One of Gera’s sons was Ehud.] The descendants of Ehud were leaders of their clans who lived in Geba [city], but they were forced to move to Manahath [city].
They are the heads of ancestral houses of the inhabitants of Geba, and they carried them captive to Manahath.
7 Ehud’s sons/descendants were Naaman, Ahijah, and Gera. Gera was the one who led them when they moved to Manahath. Gera was the father of Uzza and Ahihud.
And Naaman, and Ahijah, and Gera, he sent them into exile. And Gera became the father of Uzza and Ahihud.
8 [Another descendant of Benjamin was Shaharaim]. He and his wife Hushim had two sons, Abitub and Elpaal. In [the] Moab [region], Shaharaim divorced Hushim and his other wife Baara. [Then he married a woman whose name was] Hodesh, and they had [seven sons]: Jobab, Zibia, Mesha, Malcam, Jeuz, Sakia, and Mirmah. They were all leaders of their clans.
And Shaharaim became the father of children in the field of Moab after he had sent away his wives Hushim and Baara.
He became the father of Hodesh his wife, Jobab, and Zibia, and Mesha, and Malkam,
and Jeuz, and Sachia, and Mirmah. These were his sons, heads of ancestral houses.
Of Hushim he became the father of Abitub and Elpaal.
12 Elpaal’s sons were Eber, Misham, Shemed, Beriah, and Shema. Shemed built [the towns of] Ono and Lod, and the nearby villages. Beriah and Shema were leaders of their clans, who lived in Aijalon [city]. They forced the people who lived in Gath [city] to leave their city.
The sons of Elpaal: Eber, and Misham, and Shemer (who built Ono and Lod, with its towns),
and Beriah, and Shema, who were heads of ancestral houses of the inhabitants of Aijalon (who put to flight the inhabitants of Gath);
14 Beriah’s sons were Ahio, Shashak, Jeremoth, Zebadiah, Arad, Eder, Michael, Ishpah, and Joha.
and their brothers, Shashak and Jeremoth.
And Zebadiah, and Arad, and Eder,
and Michael, and Ishpah, and Joha were the sons of Beriah.
17 [Other] descendants of Elpaal were Zebadiah, Meshullam, Hizki, Heber,
And Zebadiah, and Meshullam, and Hizki, and Heber,
18 Ishmerai, Izliah, and Jobab.
and Ishmerai, and Izliah, and Jobab were the sons of Elpaal.
19 [Another descendant of Benjamin was Shimei.] Shimei’s descendants included Jakim, Zicri, Zabdi, Elienai, Zillethai, Eliel, Adaiah, Beraiah, and Shimrath.
And Jakim, and Zikri, and Zabdi,
and Elienai, and Zillethai, and Eliel,
and Adaiah, and Beraiah, and Shimrath were the sons of Shimei.
22 Shashak’s sons were Ishpan, Eber, Eliel,
And Ishpan, and Eber, and Eliel,
and Abdon, and Zikri, and Hanan,
24 Hananiah, Elam, Anthothijah,
and Hananiah, and Omri, and Elam, and Anthothijah,
and Iphdeiah, and Penuel were the sons of Shashak.
26 [Another descendant of Benjamin was] Jeroham, whose sons were Shamsherai, Shehariah, Athaliah, Jaareshiah, Elijah, and Zicri.
And Shamsherai, and Shehariah, and Athaliah,
and Jaareshiah, and Elijah, and Zikri were the sons of Jeroham.
28 In the records of these clans it is written that all those men were leaders of their clans, and they lived in Jerusalem.
These were heads of ancestral houses throughout their generations, chief men: these lived in Jerusalem.
29 [Another descendant of Benjamin was] Jeiel. He lived in Gibeon [town], and he was the leader there. His wife was Maacah.
And in Gibeon lived Jeiel, the father of Gibeon, whose wife's name was Maacah;
30 His oldest son was Abdon. His other sons were Zur, Kish, Baal, Ner, Nadab,
and his firstborn son Abdon, and Zur, and Kish, and Baal, and Ner, and Nadab,
and Gedor, and Ahio, and Zecher and Mikloth.
32 and Mikloth. Mikloth was the father of Shimeah. All these sons of Jeiel also lived near their relatives in Jerusalem.
Mikloth became the father of Shimeah. They also lived with their brothers in Jerusalem, over against their brothers.
33 Ner was the father of Kish, and Kish was the father of [King] Saul. Saul was the father of Jonathan, Malchishua, Abinadab, and Esh-Baal.
Ner became the father of Kish; and Kish became the father of Saul; and Saul became the father of Jonathan, and Malkishua, and Abinadab, and Ishbaal.
34 Jonathan’s son was Merib-Baal. Merib-Baal was the father of Micah.
The son of Jonathan was Mippibaal; and Mippibaal became the father of Micah.
35 Micah’s sons were Pithon, Melech, Tarea, and Ahaz.
The sons of Micah: Pithon, and Melech, and Tarea, and Ahaz.
36 Ahaz was the father of Jehoaddah. Jehoaddah was the father of Alemeth, Azmaveth, and Zimri. Zimri was the father of Moza.
Ahaz became the father of Jehoaddah; and Jehoaddah became the father of Alemeth, and Azmaveth, and Zimri; and Zimri became the father of Moza.
37 Moza was the father of Binea. The son of Binea was Raphah. The son of Raphah was Eleasah. The son of Eleasah was Azel.
Moza became the father of Binea; Rephaiah was his son, Eleasah his son, Azel his son.
38 Azel had six sons: Azrikam, Bokeru, Ishmael, Sheariah, Obadiah, and Hanan.
Azel had six sons, whose names are these: Azrikam, his firstborn, and Ishmael, and Sheariah, and Azariah, and Obadiah, and Hanan. All these were the sons of Azel.
39 Azel’s [younger] brother was Eshek. Eshek’s oldest son was Ulam. His other sons were Jeush and Eliphelet.
The sons of Eshek his brother: Ulam his firstborn, Jeush the second, and Eliphelet the third.
40 Ulam’s sons were brave warriors and (good archers/able to shoot arrows well). Altogether they had 150 sons and grandsons. Those were the descendants of Benjamin.
The sons of Ulam were mighty men of valor, archers, and had many sons, and sons' sons, one hundred fifty. All these were of the sons of Benjamin.
