< 1 Chronicles 8 >

1 Benjamin had five sons: Bela, Ashbel, Aharah,
Now Benjamin conceived Bela as his firstborn, Ashbel the second, Aharah the third,
2 Nohah, and Rapha.
Nohah the fourth, and Rapha the fifth.
3 The sons of Bela were Addar, Gera, Abihud,
And the sons of Bela were: Addar, and Gera, and Abihud,
4 Abishua, Naaman, Ahoah,
as well as Abishua, and Naaman, and Ahoah,
5 Gera, Shephuphan, and Huram.
then also Gera, and Shephuphan, and Huram.
6 [One of Gera’s sons was Ehud.] The descendants of Ehud were leaders of their clans who lived in Geba [city], but they were forced to move to Manahath [city].
These are the sons of Ehud, leaders of the kindred living in Geba, who were moved away to Manahath.
7 Ehud’s sons/descendants were Naaman, Ahijah, and Gera. Gera was the one who led them when they moved to Manahath. Gera was the father of Uzza and Ahihud.
And Naaman, and Ahijah, and Gera, he also moved them away; and he conceived Uzza and Ahihud.
8 [Another descendant of Benjamin was Shaharaim]. He and his wife Hushim had two sons, Abitub and Elpaal. In [the] Moab [region], Shaharaim divorced Hushim and his other wife Baara. [Then he married a woman whose name was] Hodesh, and they had [seven sons]: Jobab, Zibia, Mesha, Malcam, Jeuz, Sakia, and Mirmah. They were all leaders of their clans.
Then Shaharaim conceived, in the region of Moab, after he sent away Hushim and Baara, his wives;

and so, of his wife Hodesh, he conceived Jobab, and Zibia, and Mesha, and Malcam,
and also Jeuz and Sachia, and Mirmah. These were his sons, the leaders of their families.
Truly, of Hushim he conceived Abitub and Elpaal.
12 Elpaal’s sons were Eber, Misham, Shemed, Beriah, and Shema. Shemed built [the towns of] Ono and Lod, and the nearby villages. Beriah and Shema were leaders of their clans, who lived in Aijalon [city]. They forced the people who lived in Gath [city] to leave their city.
And the sons of Elpaal were Eber, and Misham, and Shemed, who built Ono and Lod and its daughters.
Now Beriah and Shema were leaders of their families living in Aijalon; these put to flight the inhabitants of Gath.
14 Beriah’s sons were Ahio, Shashak, Jeremoth, Zebadiah, Arad, Eder, Michael, Ishpah, and Joha.
And Ahio, and Shashak, and Jeremoth,
and Zebadiah, and Arad, and Eder,
as well as Michael, and Ishpah, and Joha, were the sons of Beriah.
17 [Other] descendants of Elpaal were Zebadiah, Meshullam, Hizki, Heber,
Then Zebadiah, and Meshullam, and Hizki, and Heber,
18 Ishmerai, Izliah, and Jobab.
and Ishmerai, and Izliah, and Jobab were the sons of Elpaal.
19 [Another descendant of Benjamin was Shimei.] Shimei’s descendants included Jakim, Zicri, Zabdi, Elienai, Zillethai, Eliel, Adaiah, Beraiah, and Shimrath.
Then Jakim, and Zichri, and Zabdi,
and Elienai, and Zillethai, and Eliel,
and Adaiah, and Beraiah, and Shimrath were the sons of Shimei.
22 Shashak’s sons were Ishpan, Eber, Eliel,
Then Ishpan, and Eber, and Eliel,
23 Abdon, Zicri, Hanan,
and Abdon, and Zichri, and Hanan,
24 Hananiah, Elam, Anthothijah,
and Hananiah, and Elam, and Anthothijah,
25 Iphdeiah, and Penuel.
and Iphdeiah, and Penuel were the sons of Shashak.
26 [Another descendant of Benjamin was] Jeroham, whose sons were Shamsherai, Shehariah, Athaliah, Jaareshiah, Elijah, and Zicri.
Then Shamsherai, and Shehariah and Athaliah,
and Jaareshiah, and Elijah, and Zichri were the sons of Jeroham.
28 In the records of these clans it is written that all those men were leaders of their clans, and they lived in Jerusalem.
These were the patriarchs and leaders of the families who were living in Jerusalem.
29 [Another descendant of Benjamin was] Jeiel. He lived in Gibeon [town], and he was the leader there. His wife was Maacah.
Now in Gibeon, there lived Jeiel, the father of Gibeon; and the name of his wife was Maacah,
30 His oldest son was Abdon. His other sons were Zur, Kish, Baal, Ner, Nadab,
and his firstborn son was Abdon, and then Zur, and Kish, and Baal, and Nadab,
31 Gedor, Ahio, Zeker,
and Gedor, and Ahio, and Zecher, and Mikloth.
32 and Mikloth. Mikloth was the father of Shimeah. All these sons of Jeiel also lived near their relatives in Jerusalem.
And Mikloth conceived Shimeah. And they lived opposite their brothers in Jerusalem, with their brothers.
33 Ner was the father of Kish, and Kish was the father of [King] Saul. Saul was the father of Jonathan, Malchishua, Abinadab, and Esh-Baal.
Now Ner conceived Kish, and Kish conceived Saul. Then Saul conceived Jonathan, and Malchishua, and Abinadab, and Eshbaal.
34 Jonathan’s son was Merib-Baal. Merib-Baal was the father of Micah.
And the son of Jonathan was Meribbaal; and Meribbaal conceived Micah.
35 Micah’s sons were Pithon, Melech, Tarea, and Ahaz.
The sons of Micah were Pithon, and Melech, and Tarea, and Ahaz.
36 Ahaz was the father of Jehoaddah. Jehoaddah was the father of Alemeth, Azmaveth, and Zimri. Zimri was the father of Moza.
And Ahaz conceived Jehoaddah. And Jehoaddah conceived Alemeth, and Azmaveth, and Zimri. And Zimri conceived Moza.
37 Moza was the father of Binea. The son of Binea was Raphah. The son of Raphah was Eleasah. The son of Eleasah was Azel.
And Moza conceived Binea, whose son was Raphah, of whom was born Eleasah, who conceived Azel.
38 Azel had six sons: Azrikam, Bokeru, Ishmael, Sheariah, Obadiah, and Hanan.
Now there were six sons for Azel, whose names were Azrikam, Bocheru, Ishmael, Sheariah, Obadiah, and Hanan. All these were the sons of Azel.
39 Azel’s [younger] brother was Eshek. Eshek’s oldest son was Ulam. His other sons were Jeush and Eliphelet.
Then the sons of Eshek, his brother, were Ulam the firstborn, and Jeush the second, and Eliphelet the third.
40 Ulam’s sons were brave warriors and (good archers/able to shoot arrows well). Altogether they had 150 sons and grandsons. Those were the descendants of Benjamin.
And the sons of Ulam were very robust men, drawing the bow with great strength. And they had many sons and grandsons, even to one hundred fifty. All these were sons of Benjamin.
