1 Chronicles 6
1 Levi’s sons were Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.
[the] sons of Levi Gershon Kohath and Merari.
2 Kohath’s sons were Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel.
And [the] sons of Kohath Amram Izhar and Hebron and Uzziel.
3 Amram’s children were Miriam and [her younger brothers] Aaron and Moses. Aaron’s sons were Nadab, Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.
And [the] children of Amram Aaron and Moses and Miriam. And [the] sons of Aaron Nadab and Abihu Eleazar and Ithamar.
4 Eleazar was the father of Phinehas. Phinehas was the father of Abishua.
Eleazar he fathered Phinehas Phinehas he fathered Abishua.
5 Abishua was the father of Bukki. Bukki was the father of Uzzi.
And Abishua he fathered Bukki and Bukki he fathered Uzzi.
6 Uzzi was the father of Zerahiah. Zerahiah was the father of Meraioth.
And Uzzi he fathered Zerahiah and Zerahiah he fathered Meraioth.
7 Meraioth was the father of Amariah. Amariah was the father of Ahitub.
Meraioth he fathered Amariah and Amariah he fathered Ahitub.
8 Ahitub was the father of Zadok. Zadok was the father of Ahimaaz.
And Ahitub he fathered Zadok and Zadok he fathered Ahimaaz.
9 Ahimaaz was the father of Azariah. Azariah was the father of Johanan.
And Ahimaaz he fathered Azariah and Azariah he fathered Johanan.
10 Johanan was the father of Azariah. Azariah was a priest in the temple that Solomon commanded to be built in Jerusalem.
And Johanan he fathered Azariah he [was [the] one] who he served as a priest in the house which he had built Solomon in Jerusalem.
11 Azariah was the father of Amariah. Amariah was the father of Ahitub.
And he fathered Azariah Amariah and Amariah he fathered Ahitub.
12 Ahitub was the father of Zadok. Zadok was the father of Shallum.
And Ahitub he fathered Zadok and Zadok he fathered Shallum.
13 Shallum was the father of Hilkiah. Hilkiah was the father of Azariah.
And Shallum he fathered Hilkiah and Hilkiah he fathered Azariah.
14 Azariah was the father of Seraiah. Seraiah was the father of Jehozadak.
And Azariah he fathered Seraiah and Seraiah he fathered Jehozadak.
15 Jehozadak was forced to leave his home when Yahweh sent [King] Nebuchadnezzar’s [army] [MTY] to capture many people in Jerusalem and other places in Judah and compel them [to go to Babylonia].
And Jehozadak he went when sent into exile Yahweh Judah and Jerusalem by [the] hand of Nebuchadnezzar.
16 Levi’s sons were Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.
[the] sons of Levi Gershom Kohath and Merari.
17 Gershon’s sons were Libni and Shimei.
And these [are] [the] names of [the] sons of Gershom Libni and Shimei.
18 Kohath’s sons were Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel.
And [the] sons of Kohath Amram and Izhar and Hebron and Uzziel.
19 Merari’s sons were Mahli and Mushi. Here is a list of the descendants of Levi, who became leaders of their clans.
[the] sons of Merari Mahli and Mushi and these [are] [the] clans of the Levite[s] to ancestors their.
20 Gershon’s [oldest] son was Libni. Libni’s son was Jehath. Jehath’s son was Zimmah.
Of Gershom Libni son his Jahath son his Zimmah son his.
21 Zimmah’s son was Joah. Joah’s son was Iddo. Iddo’s son was Zerah. Zerah’s son was Jeatherai.
Joah son his Iddo son his Zerah son his Jeatherai son his.
22 Kohath’s [other] son was Amminadab. Amminadab’s son was Korah. Korah’s son was Assir.
[the] sons of Kohath Amminadab son his Korah son his Assir son his.
23 Assir’s son was Elkanah. Elkanah’s son was Ebiasaph. Ebiasaph’s son was Assir.
Elkanah son his and Ebiasaph son his and Assir son his.
24 Assir’s son was Tahath. Tahath’s son was Uriel. Uriel’s son was Uzziah. Uzziah’s son was Shaul.
Tahath son his Uriel son his Uzziah son his and Shaul son his.
25 Elkanah’s [other] sons were Amasai and Ahimoth.
And [the] sons of Elkanah Amasai and Ahimoth.
26 Ahimoth’s son was Elkanah. Elkanah’s son was Zophai. Zophai’s son was Nahath.
Elkanah ([the] sons *Q(K)*) Elkanah Zophai son his and Nahath son his.
27 Nahath’s son was Eliab. Eliab’s son was Jeroham. Jeroham’s son was Elkanah. Elkanah’s son was Samuel.
Eliab son his Jeroham son his Elkanah (son his and Samuel *X*) son his.
28 Samuel’s oldest son was Joel; his other son was Abijah.
And [the] sons of Samuel the firstborn (Joel *X*) second and Abijah.
29 Merari’s oldest son was Mahli. Mahli’s son was Libni. Libni’s son was Shimei. Shimei’s son was Uzzah.
[the] sons of Merari Mahli Libni son his Shimei son his Uzzah son his.
30 Uzzah’s son was Shimea. Shimea’s son was Haggiah. Haggiah’s son was Asaiah.
Shimea son his Haggiah son his Asaiah son his.
31 After the Sacred Chest was brought [to Jerusalem, King] David appointed some of the men who were descendants of Levi to be in charge of the music in [the Sacred Tent where the people worshiped] Yahweh.
And these [are those] whom he appointed David over [the] hands of song [the] house of Yahweh from [the] rest of the ark.
32 Those musicians first sang and played their instruments in the Sacred Tent, which was also called the Tent of Meeting, and they continued to do that until Solomon’s [workers] built the temple of Yahweh in Jerusalem. In all their work, they obeyed the instructions [that David had given them].
And they were serving before [the] tabernacle of [the] tent of meeting with song until built Solomon [the] house of Yahweh in Jerusalem and they stood according to custom their on service their.
33 Here is a list of the musicians and their sons: From Kohath’s descendants there was Heman, the leader of the singers. Heman was the son of Joel. Joel was the son of Samuel.
And these [were] the [ones who] stood and descendants their from [the] descendants of the Kohathite[s] Heman the singer [the] son of Joel [the] son of Samuel.
34 Samuel was the son of Elkanah. Elkanah was the son of Jeroham. Jeroham was the son of Eliel. Eliel was the son of Toah.
[the] son of Elkanah [the] son of Jeroham [the] son of Eliel [the] son of Toah.
35 Toah was the son of Zuph. Zuph was the son of Elkanah. Elkanah was the son of Mahath. Mahath was the son of Amasai.
[the] son of (Zuph *Q(K)*) [the] son of Elkanah [the] son of Mahath [the] son of Amasai.
36 Amasai was the son of [another man whose name was] Elkanah. Elkanah was the son of Joel. Joel was the son of Azariah. Azariah was the son of Zephaniah.
[the] son of Elkanah [the] son of Joel [the] son of Azariah [the] son of Zephaniah.
37 Zephaniah was the son of Tahath. Tahath was the son of Assir. Assir was the son of Ebiasaph. Ebiasaph was the son of Korah.
[the] son of Tahath [the] son of Assir [the] son of Ebiasaph [the] son of Korah.
38 Korah was the son of Izhar. Izhar was the son of Kohath. Kohath was the son of Levi. Levi was the son of Jacob.
[the] son of Izhar [the] son of Kohath [the] son of Levi [the] son of Israel.
39 Heman’s helper was Asaph. His group [of singers] stood at the right side of Heman. Asaph was the son of Berekiah. Berekiah was the son of Shimea.
And relative his Asaph who stood at right [hand] his Asaph [the] son of Berekiah [the] son of Shimea.
40 Shimea was the son of Michael. Michael was the son of Baaseiah. Baaseiah was the son of Malkijah.
[the] son of Michael [the] son of Baaseiah [the] son of Malkijah.
41 Malkijah was the son of Ethni. Ethni was the son of Zerah. Zerah was the son of Adaiah.
[the] son of Ethni [the] son of Zerah [the] son of Adaiah.
42 Adaiah was the son of Ethan. Ethan was the son of Zimmah. Zimmah was the son of Shimei.
[the] son of Ethan [the] son of Zimmah [the] son of Shimei.
43 Shimei was the son of Jahath. Jahath was the son of Gershon, and Gershon was the son of Levi.
[the] son of Jahath [the] son of Gershom [the] son of Levi.
44 [A group of singers from] Merari’s family helped Heman and Asaph. They stood to the left of Heman. The leader of this group was Ethan, the son of Kishi. Kishi was the son of Abdi. Abdi was the son of Malluch.
And [the] descendants of Merari relatives their [were] at the left [hand] Ethan [the] son of Kishi [the] son of Abdi [the] son of Malluch.
45 Malluch was the son of Hashabiah. Hashabiah was the son of Amaziah. Amaziah was the son of Hilkiah.
[the] son of Hashabiah [the] son of Amaziah [the] son of Hilkiah.
46 Hilkiah was the son of Amzi. Amzi was the son of Bani. Bani was the son of Shemer.
[the] son of Amzi [the] son of Bani [the] son of Shemer.
47 Shemer was the son of Mahli. Mahli was the son of Mushi. Mushi was the son of Merari, and Merari was the son of Levi.
[the] son of Mahli [the] son of Mushi [the] son of Merari [the] son of Levi.
48 The other descendants of Levi were appointed to do other work in the sacred tent, the place [where the people worshiped] Yahweh.
And relatives their the Levites [were] assigned to all [the] service of [the] tabernacle of [the] house of God.
49 Aaron and his descendants were the ones who placed on the altar the sacrifices that were to be burned completely, and they burned incense on another altar. Those sacrifices were in order that Yahweh would no longer be angry with the people of Israel for having sinned. Those men also did other work in the Very Holy Place in the sacred tent, obeying the instructions that Moses, who served God [well], had given to them.
And Aaron and descendants his [were] making smoke on [the] altar of the burnt offering and on [the] altar of the incense for all [the] work of [the] holy place of the holy places and to make atonement on Israel according to all that he had commanded Moses [the] servant of God.
50 These were the descendants of Aaron: Aaron’s son was Eleazar. Eleazar’s son was Phinehas. Phinehas’s son was Abishua.
And these [are] [the] descendants of Aaron Eleazar son his Phinehas son his Abishua son his.
51 Abishua’s son was Bukki. Bukki’s son was Uzzi. Uzzi’s son was Zerahiah.
Bukki son his Uzzi son his Zerahiah son his.
52 Zerahiah’s son was Meraioth. Meraioth’s son was Amariah. Amariah’s son was Ahitub.
Meraioth son his Amariah son his Ahitub son his.
53 Ahitub’s son was Zadok, and Zadok’s son was Ahimaaz.
Zadok son his Ahimaaz son his.
54 Here is a list of the places where Aaron’s descendants lived. Those who were descendants of Kohath were the first group to be allotted cities to live in.
And these [were] dwelling places their to encampments their in territory their to [the] descendants of Aaron to [the] clan of the Kohathite[s] for to them it belonged the lot.
55 They were allotted Hebron [city] in Judah and the pastureland around the city,
And people gave to them Hebron in [the] land of Judah and pasture lands its around it.
56 but the fields farther from the city and the villages near the city were given to Caleb, the son of Jephunneh.
And [the] field of the city and villages its people gave to Caleb [the] son of Jephunneh.
57 The descendants of Aaron [who were descendants of Kohath] were allotted Hebron, one of the cities [to which people could flee] and be protected [if they accidentally killed someone]. They also were allotted the towns and pastureland near Libnah, Jattir, Eshtemoa,
And to [the] descendants of Aaron people gave [the] cities of refuge Hebron and Libnah and pasture lands its and Jattir and Eshtemoa and pasture lands its.
58 Hilen, Debir,
And Hilez and pasture lands its Debir and pasture lands its.
59 Ashan, Juttah, and Beth-Shemesh.
And Ashan and pasture lands its (and Juttah and pasture lands its *X*) and Beth Shemesh and pasture lands its.
60 They were also allotted Gibeon, Geba, Alemeth, and Anathoth [cities] from the tribe of Benjamin. Altogether, these clans descended from Kohath were allotted 13 towns.
And from [the] tribe of Benjamin (Gibeon and pasture lands its *X*) Geba and pasture lands its and Alemeth and pasture lands its and Anathoth and pasture lands its all cities their [were] thir-teen citi[es] in clans their.
61 The other clans descended from Kohath were allotted ten towns from the clans of the tribe of Manasseh [that lived west of the Jordan River].
And to [the] descendants of Kohath which remained of [the] clan of the tribe from [the] half of [the] tribe of [the] half of Manasseh by the lot cities ten.
62 The descendants of Gershon were allotted 13 cities and towns from the tribes of Issachar, Asher, Naphtali, and the part of the tribe of Manasseh that lived in [the] Bashan [region on the east side of the Jordan River].
And to [the] descendants of Gershom to clans their from [the] tribe of Issachar and from [the] tribe of Asher and from [the] tribe of Naphtali and from [the] tribe of Manasseh in Bashan cities thir-teen.
63 The descendants of Merari were allotted twelve cities and towns from the tribes of Reuben, Gad, and Zebulun.
To [the] descendants of Merari to clans their from [the] tribe of Reuben and from [the] tribe of Gad and from [the] tribe of Zebulun by the lot cities two [plus] ten.
64 The leaders of Israel allotted those towns and the nearby pasturelands to the descendants of Levi.
And they gave [the] people of Israel to the Levites the cities and pasture lands their.
65 They also allotted to them the cities and towns from the tribes of Judah, Simeon, and Benjamin that were listed previously.
And they gave by the lot from [the] tribe of [the] descendants of Judah and from [the] tribe of [the] descendants of Simeon and from [the] tribe of [the] descendants of Benjamin the cities these which they called them by names.
66 Some of the descendants of Kohath were allotted towns from the tribe of Ephraim.
And some of [the] clans of [the] descendants of Kohath and it was [the] cities of territory their [were] from [the] tribe of Ephraim.
67 They were allotted Shechem, which was one of the cities [to which people could flee] and be protected [if they accidentally killed someone], along with the nearby pastureland in the hills of Ephraim. They were also allotted these towns and pastureland near them: Gezer,
And they gave to them [the] cities of refuge Shechem and pasture lands its in [the] hill country of Ephraim and Gezer and pasture lands its.
68 Jokmeam, Beth-Horon,
And Jokmeam and pasture lands its and Beth Horon and pasture lands its.
69 Aijalon, and Gath-Rimmon.
And Aijalon and pasture lands its and Gath Rimmon and pasture lands its.
70 The other descendants of Kohath were allotted Aner and Bileam towns and the nearby pastureland from the part of the tribe of Manasseh that lived west [of the Jordan River].
And from [the] half of [the] tribe of Manasseh Aner and pasture lands its and Bileam and pasture lands its for [the] clan of [the] descendants of Kohath which remained.
71 The descendants of Gershon, who were part of the tribe of Manasseh, lived east [of the Jordan River]. They were allotted the cities and towns and pastureland near them: Golan in [the] Bashan and Ashtaroth [regions].
To [the] descendants of Gershom from [the] clan of [the] half of [the] tribe of Manasseh Golan in Bashan and pasture lands its and Ashtaroth and pasture lands its.
72 From the tribe of Issachar they were allotted cities and towns and pastureland near Kedesh, Daberath,
And from [the] tribe of Issachar Kedesh and pasture lands its Daberath and pasture lands its.
73 Ramoth, and Anem.
And Ramoth and pasture lands its and Anem and pasture lands its.
74 From the tribe of Asher they were allotted cities and towns and pastureland near Mashal, Abdon,
And from [the] tribe of Asher Mashal and pasture lands its and Abdon and pasture lands its.
75 Hukok, and Rehob.
And Hukok and pasture lands its and Rehob and pasture lands its.
76 And from the tribe of Naphtali they were allotted cities and towns and pastureland near Kedesh in [the] Galilee [region], and Hammon and Kiriathaim [towns].
And from [the] tribe of Naphtali Kedesh in Galilee and pasture lands its and Hammon and pasture lands its and Kiriathaim and pasture lands its.
77 The other descendants of Levi, those descended from Merari, were allotted towns and pasturelands from the tribe of Zebulun near Jokneam, Kartah, Rimmono, and Tabor.
To [the] descendants of Merari which remained of [the] tribe of Zebulun (Jokneam and pasture lands its Kartah and pasture lands its *X*) Rimmono and pasture lands its Tabor and pasture lands its.
78 From the tribe of Reuben they were allotted cities and towns and pastureland near Bezer in the desert, Jahzah, Kedemoth, and Mephaath. The tribe of Reuben lived east of the Jordan [River], across from Jericho.
And from [the] other side of [the] Jordan of Jericho to [the] east of the Jordan from [the] tribe of Reuben Bezer in the wilderness and pasture lands its and Jahaz and pasture lands its.
And Kedemoth and pasture lands its and Mephaath and pasture lands its.
80 From the tribe of Gad, they were allotted cities and towns and pastureland near Ramoth in [the] Gilead [region], [the cities of] Mahanaim,
And from [the] tribe of Gad Ramoth in Gilead and pasture lands its and Mahanaim and pasture lands its.
81 Heshbon, and Jazer.
And Heshbon and pasture lands its and Jazer and pasture lands its.
