1 David and some of the temple officials (OR, army commanders) chose some of the descendants of Asaph, Heman, and Jeduthun to be in charge of proclaiming God’s messages, and to play harps and lyres and cymbals. This is a list of the men whom they chose for that work:

2 From the sons of Asaph they chose Zaccur, Joseph, Nethaniah, and Aserelah. Asaph supervised them. And the king appointed Asaph to proclaim God’s messages.

Các con trai của A-sáp là Xác-cua, Giô-sép, Nê-tha-nia, và A-sa-rê-la. Họ làm việc dưới quyền điều khiển của cha họ là A-sáp, người công bố sứ điệp của Đức Chúa Trời theo lệnh vua.

3 From the sons of Jeduthun they chose six men: Gedaliah, Zeri, Jeshaiah, Shimei, Hashabiah, and Mattithiah. Jeduthun supervised them and also proclaimed God’s messages, playing his harp while he thanked and praised Yahweh.

Các con trai của Giê-đu-thun là Ghê-đa-lia, Xê-ri, Y-sai, Ha-sa-bia, Ma-ti-thia, và Si-mê-i. Họ làm việc dưới quyền điều khiển của cha là Giê-đu-thun, người công bố sứ điệp của Đức Chúa Trời theo đàn lia, dâng lời tạ ơn và ngợi tôn Chúa Hằng Hữu.

4 From the sons of Heman, who was one of the king’s prophets, they chose Bukkiah, Mattaniah, Uzziel, Shubael, Jerimoth, Hananiah, Hanani, Eliathah, Giddalti, Romamti-Ezer, Joshbekashah, Mallothi, Hothir, and Mahazioth.

Các con trai của Hê-man là Búc-ki-gia, Ma-tha-nia, U-xi-ên, Sê-bu-ên, Giê-ri-mốt, Ha-na-nia, Ha-na-ni, Ê-li-a-tha, Ghi-đanh-thi, Rô-mam-ti-ê-xe, Giốt-bê-ca-sa, Ma-lô-thi, Hô-thia, và Ma-ha-xi-ốt.

5 God promised to cause Heman to be strong, so altogether, God have him 14 sons and three daughters.

Họ đều là con trai Hê-man, tiên kiến của vua. Đức Chúa Trời đã ban đặc ân cho ông được mười bốn con trai và ba con gái.

6 All those men were supervised by their fathers while they played music in the temple of Yahweh. They played cymbals, lyres, and harps. And their fathers—Asaph, Jeduthun and Heman—were supervised by the king.

Tất cả những người này đều ở dưới sự điều khiển của cha mình, họ lo việc ca hát tại nhà của Chúa Hằng Hữu. Nhiệm vụ của họ gồm chơi đàn chập chõa, đàn hạc, và đàn lia tại nhà của Đức Chúa Trời. A-sáp, Giê-đu-thun và Hê-man đều dưới quyền của vua.

7 Those men and their relatives were all trained and skilled for playing musical instruments in the temple. That was their work for Yahweh. Including their relatives, there were 288 of them.

Họ luôn luôn tập luyện với nhau dưới quyền điều khiển của các nhạc sư, để ca ngợi Chúa Hằng Hữu, tổng số được 288 người.

8 All of them, including ones who were young and those who were old, cast lots to determine what work they would do.

Họ đều bắt thăm chia phiên phục vụ, không phân biệt tuổi tác hay thầy trò.

9 From the family of Asaph, the first ones selected were Joseph and 12 of his sons and relatives.

Thăm thứ nhất thuộc về Giô-sép, họ A-sáp, và mười hai con trai của ông cùng bà con. Thăm thứ hai thuộc về Ghê-đa-lia, mười hai con trai, và bà con.

10 Next, Gedaliah and 12 of his sons and relatives were selected.

Thăm thứ ba thuộc về Xác-cua, mười hai con trai của ông, và bà con

11 Next, Zaccur and 12 of his sons and relatives were selected.

Thăm thứ tư thuộc về Dít-sê-ri, mười hai con trai, và bà con.

12 Next, Nethaniah and 12 of his sons and relatives were selected.

Thăm thứ năm thuộc về Nê-tha-nia, mười hai con trai, và bà con.

13 Next, Bukkiah and 12 of his sons and relatives were selected.
