1 Chronicles 16
1 They brought the Sacred Chest [to Gibeon] and put it inside the Sacred Tent that David had [told his workers to] set up. Then they brought offerings to be completely burned [on the altar] and offerings to enable them to maintain fellowship [with God].
Και έφεραν την κιβωτόν του Θεού και έθεσαν αυτήν εν τω μέσω της σκηνής, την οποίαν έστησε δι' αυτήν ο Δαβίδ· και προσέφεραν ολοκαυτώματα και ειρηνικάς προσφοράς ενώπιον του Θεού.
2 When David had finished presenting all those offerings, he [asked Yahweh to] bless the people.
Και αφού ετελείωσεν ο Δαβίδ προσφέρων τα ολοκαυτώματα και τας ειρηνικάς προσφοράς, ευλόγησε τον λαόν εν ονόματι Κυρίου.
3 He gave a loaf of bread, some dates, and some raisins to every Israeli man and woman [who was there].
Και διεμοίρασεν εις πάντα άνθρωπον εκ του Ισραήλ, από ανδρός έως γυναικός, εις έκαστον εν ψωμίον και εν τμήμα κρέατος και μίαν φιάλην οίνου.
4 Then David appointed some of the descendants of Levi to stand in front of [the Sacred Tent in which] the Sacred Chest [had been placed], to lead the people who worshiped and thanked and praised Yahweh, the God of the Israeli people.
Και διώρισεν εκ των Λευϊτών διά να λειτουργώσιν έμπροσθεν της κιβωτού του Κυρίου, και να μνημονεύωσι και να ευχαριστώσι και να υμνώσι Κύριον τον Θεόν του Ισραήλ·
5 Asaph, who played the cymbals, was their leader. Zechariah was his assistant. The other descendants of Levi [who helped Asaph] were Jaaziel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Mattithiah, Eliab, Benaiah, Obed-Edom, and Jeiel. They played lyres and harps.
τον Ασάφ πρώτον, και δεύτερον αυτού τον Ζαχαρίαν, έπειτα τον Ιεϊήλ και Σεμιραμώθ και Ιεχιήλ και Ματταθίαν και Ελιάβ και Βεναΐαν και Ωβήδ-εδώμ· και ο μεν Ιεϊήλ ήχει εν ψαλτηρίοις και κιθάραις, ο δε Ασάφ εν κυμβάλοις·
6 Benaiah and Jahaziel were priests who blew trumpets frequently in front of [the Sacred Tent in which was] the Sacred Chest.
ο Βεναΐας δε και ο Ιααζιήλ, οι ιερείς, εν σάλπιγξι πάντοτε έμπροσθεν της κιβωτού της διαθήκης του Θεού.
7 On that day, David gave to Asaph and his helpers this psalm to praise Yahweh:
Τότε πρώτον την ημέραν εκείνην παρέδωκεν ο Δαβίδ εις την χείρα του Ασάφ και των αδελφών αυτού τον ψαλμόν τούτον, διά να δοξολογήση τον Κύριον·
8 Thank God, and pray to him [MTY]. Tell the people of all nations what he has done.
Δοξολογείτε τον Κύριον· επικαλείσθε το όνομα αυτού· κάμετε γνωστά εις τα έθνη τα έργα αυτού.
9 Sing to him; sing songs to praise him. Tell about all his miraculous deeds.
Ψάλλετε εις αυτόν· ψαλμωδείτε εις αυτόν· λαλείτε περί πάντων των θαυμασίων αυτού.
10 Be glad that you belong to him [MTY]; those who want to know Yahweh better should rejoice.
Καυχάσθε εις το άγιον αυτού όνομα· ας ευφραίνηται η καρδία των εκζητούντων τον Κύριον.
11 Trust in Yahweh and in his power; continually seek to get help from him.
Ζητείτε τον Κύριον και την δύναμιν αυτού· εκζητείτε το πρόσωπον αυτού διαπαντός.
12 Do not forget the wonderful things that he has done, the miracles and the just laws that he has given to us.
Μνημονεύετε των θαυμασίων αυτού τα οποία έκαμε, των τεραστίων αυτού και των κρίσεων του στόματος αυτού,
13 We people are the descendants of his servant Jacob; we are the people of Israel whom he has chosen.
Σπέρμα Ισραήλ του δούλου αυτού, υιοί Ιακώβ, οι εκλεκτοί αυτού.
14 Yahweh is our God. His just/fair laws are known by people throughout the world.
Αυτός είναι Κύριος ο Θεός ημών· εν πάση τη γη είναι αι κρίσεις αυτού.
15 He never forgets the agreement that he has made: he made a promise that will last for 1,000 generations.
Μνημονεύετε πάντοτε της διαθήκης αυτού, του λόγου τον οποίον προσέταξεν εις χιλίας γενεάς·
16 That is the agreement that he made with Abraham, and he repeated that agreement to Isaac.
της διαθήκης την οποίαν έκαμε προς τον Αβραάμ, και τον όρκον αυτού προς τον Ισαάκ·
17 It was an agreement for the Israeli people, and he wanted that agreement to endure forever.
Και εβεβαίωσεν αυτόν προς τον Ιακώβ διά νόμον, προς τον Ισραήλ διά διαθήκην αιώνιον.
18 What he said was, “I will give the Canaan region to you, to belong to you [and your descendants forever].”
Λέγων, εις σε θέλω δώσει την γην Χαναάν, μερίδα της κληρονομίας σας.
19 [He said that to them] when there were only a few of them, a tiny group of people who were living in that land (like strangers/that belonged to other people);
Ενώ σεις ήσθε ολιγοστοί τον αριθμόν, ολίγοι και πάροικοι εν αυτή,
20 they continued to wander from one place to another, from one kingdom to another.
και διήρχοντο από έθνους εις έθνος και από βασιλείου εις άλλον λαόν,
21 But he did not allow others to oppress them, and he warned kings by saying to them,
δεν αφήκεν άνθρωπον να αδικήση αυτούς· μάλιστα υπέρ αυτών ήλεγξε βασιλείς,
22 “Do not harm the people whom I have chosen! Do not harm my prophets!”
λέγων, Μη εγγίσητε τους κεχρισμένους μου, και μη κακοποιήσητε τους προφήτας μου.
23 You people throughout the world, sing to Yahweh. Every day proclaim [to others] that he has saved us.
Ψάλλετε εις τον Κύριον, πάσα η γή· κηρύττετε από ημέρας εις ημέραν την σωτηρίαν αυτού.
24 Tell the people of the nations that he is great; tell all the people-groups the marvelous things [that he has done].
Αναγγείλατε εις τα έθνη την δόξαν αυτού, εις πάντας τους λαούς τα θαυμάσια αυτού.
25 Yahweh is great, and he deserves to be praised very much. He should be revered more than all the gods,
Διότι μέγας είναι ο Κύριος και αξιΰμνητος σφόδρα, και είναι φοβερός υπέρ πάντας τους θεούς.
26 because all the gods that the [other] people-groups [worship] are only idols, but Yahweh [is truly great; he] created the skies.
Διότι πάντες οι θεοί των εθνών είναι είδωλα· ο δε Κύριος τους ουρανούς εποίησε.
27 He is glorious and majestic; his power and joy fill his Sacred Tent.
Δόξα και μεγαλοπρέπεια είναι ενώπιον αυτού· ισχύς και αγαλλίασις εν τω τόπω αυτού.
28 You people in nations all over the world, praise Yahweh! Praise Yahweh for his glorious power [HEN]!
Απόδοτε εις τον Κύριον, πατριαί των λαών, απόδοτε εις τον Κύριον δόξαν και κράτος.
29 Praise Yahweh like he [MTY] deserves to be praised. Bring an offering and come to his Sacred Tent. Worship Yahweh because he is holy.
Απόδοτε εις τον Κύριον την δόξαν του ονόματος αυτού· λάβετε προσφοράς και έλθετε ενώπιον αυτού· προσκυνήσατε τον Κύριον εν τω μεγαλοπρεπεί αγιαστηρίω αυτού.
30 Everyone on the earth should tremble in front of Yahweh. He put the earth firmly [in its place]; and nothing ever will be able to move/shake it.
Φοβείσθε από προσώπου αυτού, πάσα η γή· η οικουμένη θέλει βεβαίως είσθαι εστερεωμένη, δεν θέλει σαλευθή.
31 Everything in the sky and on the earth should be happy. People [everywhere] should say, “Yahweh is our king!”
Ας ευφραίνωνται οι ουρανοί, και ας αγάλλεται η γή· και ας λέγωσι μεταξύ των εθνών, Ο Κύριος βασιλεύει.
32 The oceans and all the creatures that are in the oceans should shout to praise him; the fields and everything that is in them should rejoice.
Ας ηχή η θάλασσα και το πλήρωμα αυτής· ας χαίρωσιν αι πεδιάδες και πάντα τα εν αυταίς.
33 When they do that, [it will be as though] the trees in the forest will sing joyfully in front of Yahweh. That will happen when he comes to judge [everyone on] [MTY] the earth.
Τότε θέλουσιν αγάλλεσθαι τα δένδρα του δάσους εν τη παρουσία του Κυρίου· διότι έρχεται διά να κρίνη την γην.
34 Thank Yahweh, because [everything that he does is] good. He faithfully loves us forever.
Δοξολογείτε τον Κύριον· διότι είναι αγαθός· διότι το έλεος αυτού μένει εις τον αιώνα.
35 Say to him, “God, you are the one who rescues us, so gather us together and save us from [the armies of] other nations. When you do that, we will thank you [MTY], and we will be happy to praise you.”
Και είπατε, Σώσον ημάς, Θεέ της σωτηρίας ημών, και συνάγαγε ημάς και ελευθέρωσον ημάς εκ των εθνών, διά να δοξολογώμεν το όνομά σου το άγιον, και να καυχώμεθα εις την αίνεσίν σου.
36 Praise Yahweh, the God of us Israeli people, He has always existed, and he will exist forever. After the people [finished singing that song], they all said, “(Amen/May it be so)!”, and they praised Yahweh.
Ευλογητός Κύριος ο Θεός του Ισραήλ απ' αιώνος και έως αιώνος. Και πας ο λαός είπεν, Αμήν, και ήνεσε τον Κύριον.
37 Then David left Asaph and the other members of his clan there in front of [the tent in which] Yahweh’s Sacred Chest [had been placed]. He told them that they must do their work there every day.
Τότε αφήκεν εκεί έμπροσθεν της κιβωτού της διαθήκης του Κυρίου τον Ασάφ και τους αδελφούς αυτού, διά να λειτουργώσιν έμπροσθεν της κιβωτού πάντοτε, κατά το απαιτούμενον εκάστης ημέρας·
38 David also left Obed-Edom and 68 other descendants of Levi to work with them. Hosah and Obed-Edom guarded [the entrances of the Sacred Tent].
και τον Ωβήβ-εδώμ και τους αδελφούς αυτού, εξήκοντα οκτώ· και τον Ωβήδ-εδώμ τον υιόν του Ιεδουθούν, και τον Ωσά, διά πυλωρούς·
39 David also told Zadok the [Supreme] Priest and the other priests who worked with him to remain in front of Yahweh’s Sacred Tent, which was still at the place where the Israeli people worshiped [God there] in Gibeon [city].
και τον Σαδώκ τον ιερέα και τους αδελφούς αυτού τους ιερείς, έμπροσθεν της σκηνής του Κυρίου εν τω υψηλώ τόπω τω εν Γαβαών,
40 Every morning and every evening they burned offerings on the altar, obeying the rules/laws that had been written [by Moses], rules/laws which Yahweh had given to the Israeli people.
διά να προσφέρωσιν ολοκαυτώματα προς τον Κύριον επί του θυσιαστηρίου των ολοκαυτωμάτων πάντοτε πρωΐ και εσπέρας, και να κάμνωσι κατά πάντα τα γεγραμμένα εν τω νόμω του Κυρίου, τον οποίον προσέταξεν εις τον Ισραήλ·
41 With them were Heman and Jeduthun and other descendants of Levi. They [MTY] were chosen to sing songs to praise Yahweh because he faithfully loves his people forever.
και μετ' αυτών τον Αιμάν και Ιεδουθούν και τους λοιπούς τους εκλελεγμένους, οίτινες διωρίσθησαν κατ' όνομα, διά να δοξολογώσι τον Κύριον, διότι το έλεος αυτού μένει εις τον αιώνα·
42 Heman and Jeduthun were appointed to play the trumpets and cymbals when [the other descendants of Levi sang sacred songs]. The sons of Jeduthun were appointed to guard the gates [of the Sacred Tent].
και μετ' αυτών τον Αιμάν και Ιεδουθούν, με σάλπιγγας και κύμβαλα, διά εκείνους οίτινες έπρεπε να ηχώσι, και με όργανα μουσικά του Θεού. Οι δε υιοί του Ιεδουθούν ήσαν πυλωροί.
43 Then all the people left. They returned to their homes, and David returned home to [ask Yahweh to] bless his family.
Και απήλθε πας ο λαός, έκαστος εις την οικίαν αυτού· και επέστρεψεν ο Δαβίδ, διά να ευλογήση τον οίκον αυτού.
