1 [The first person God created was Adam]. Adam’s [son was] Seth. [Seth’s son was] Enosh. [Enosh’s son was] Kenan.

2 [Kenan’s son was] Mahalalel. [Mahalalel’s son was] Jared. [Jared’s son was] Enoch.
Cainan, Malaleel, Iared,
3 [Enoch’s son was] Methuselah. [Methusalah’s son was] Lamech. [Lamech’s son was] Noah.
Henoch, Mathusale, Lamech,
4 [Noah’s sons were] Shem, Ham, and Japheth.
Noe, Sem, Cham, et Iaptheth.
5 The sons (OR, descendants) of Japheth were Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meshech, and Tiras.
Filii Iapheth: Gomer, et Magog, et Madai, et Iavan, Thubal, Mosoch, Thiras.
6 The sons (OR, descendants) of Gomer were Ashkenaz, Riphath, and Togarmah.
Porro filii Gomer: Ascenez, et Riphath, et Thogorma.
7 The descendants of Javan were Elishah, Tarshish, Kittim, and Rodanim.
Filii autem Iavan: Elisa et Tharsis, Cethim et Dodanim.
8 The sons of Ham were Cush, Mizraim (OR, Egypt), Put, and Canaan.
Filii Cham: Chus, et Mesraim, et Phut, et Chanaan.
9 The descendants of Cush were Seba, Havilah, Sabtah, Raamah, and Sabteca. The sons (OR, descendants) of Raamah were Sheba and Dedan.
Filii autem Chus: Saba, et Hevila, Sabatha, et Regma, et Sabathacha. Porro filii Regma: Saba, et Dadan.
10 Another descendant of Cush was Nimrod. When he grew up, he became a mighty warrior on the earth.
Chus autem genuit Nemrod: iste cœpit esse potens in terra.
11 Mizraim (OR, Egypt) was the ancestor of the Lud people-group, the Anam people-group, the Lehab people-group, the Naphtuh people-group,
Mesraim vero genuit Ludim, et Anamim, et Laabim, et Nephtuim,
12 the Pathrus people-group, the Casluh people-group, and the Caphtor people-group. The people of [the] Philistia [region] were descended from the Casluh people-group.

13 Canaan’s first son was Sidon. He was also the ancestor of the Heth people-group,

14 the Jebus people-group, the Amor people-group, the Girgash people-group,
et Iebusæum, et Amorrhæum, et Gergesæum,
15 the Hiv people-group, the Ark people-group, the Sin people-group,

16 the Arvad people-group, the Zemar people-group, and the Hamath people-group.

17 The sons of Shem were Elam, Asshur, Arphaxad, Lud, and Aram. Aram’s sons were Uz, Hul, Gether, and Meshech.

18 Arphaxad was the father of Shelah, who was the father of Eber.
Arphaxad autem genuit Sale, qui et ipse genuit Heber.
19 Eber had two sons. One was named Peleg [which sounds like the word that means ‘divided’] because during the time that he lived, [the people on] the earth were divided [into various language groups]. Peleg’s [younger] brother was Joktan.

20 Joktan was the ancestor of Almodad, Sheleph, Hazarmaveth, Jerah,

Adoram quoque, et Huzal, et Decla,
Hebal etiam, et Abimael, et Saba, necnon

24 The descendants of Shem, [in order from him to Abraham], were Arphaxad, Shelah,
Sem, Arphaxad, Sale,
27 and Abram, whose [name was later changed to] Abraham.

28 Abraham’s sons were Isaac and Ishmael.

29 [The son of Abraham’s slave wife Hagar was Ishmael.] Ishmael’s [twelve] sons were Nebaioth, Kedar, Adbeel, Mibsam,

30 Mishma, Dumah, Massa, Hadad, Tema,

31 Jetur, Naphish, and Kedemah.

32 [After]’s [wife Sarah died, he took another wife named] Keturah. The sons of Abraham and Keturah were Zimran, Jokshan, Medan, Midian, Ishbak, and Shuah. Jokshan’s sons were Sheba and Dedan.
Filii autem Ceturæ concubinæ Abraham, quos genuit: Zamran, Iecsan, Madan, Madian, Iesboc, et Sue. Porro filii Iecsan: Saba, et Dadan. Filii autem Dadan: Assurim, et Latussim, et Laomim.
33 Midian’s sons were Ephah, Epher, Hanoch, Abida, and Eldaah.

34 The son of Abraham [and his wife Sarah] was Isaac, and Isaac’s sons were Esau and [Jacob, whose name was later changed to] Israel.
Genuit autem Abraham Isaac: cuius fuerunt filii Esau, et Israel.
35 The sons of Esau were Eliphaz, Reuel, Jeush, Jalam, and Korah.
Filii Esau: Eliphaz, Rahuel, Iehus, Ihelom, et Core.
36 The sons of Eliphaz were Teman, Omar, Zepho (OR, Zephi), Gatam, Kenaz, Timna, and Amalek.
Filii Eliphaz: Theman, Omar, Sephi, Gathan, Cenez, et Thamna, Amalec.
37 Reuel’s sons were Nahath, Zerah, Shammah, and Mizzah.
Filii Rahuel: Nahath, Zara, Samma, Meza.
38 [Another descendant of Esau was Seir. His descendants lived in the Edom region]. Seir’s sons were Lotan, Shobal, Zibeon, Anah, Dishon, Ezer, and Dishan.
Filii Seir: Lotan, Sobal, Sebeon, Ana, Dison, Eser, Disan.
39 Lotan’s sons were Hori and Homam, and Lotan’s sister was Timna.
Filii Lotan: Hori, Homam. Soror autem Lotan fuit Thamna.
40 Shobal’s sons were Alvan, Manahath, Ebal, Shepho, and Onam. Zibeon’s sons were Aiah and Anah.
Filii Sobal: Alian, et Manahath, et Ebal, Sephi et Onam. Filii Sebeon: Aia et Ana. Filii Ana: Dison.
41 Anah’s son was Dishon. 1 Dishon’s sons were Hemdan (OR, Hamran), Eshban, Ithran, and Keran.
Filii Dison: Hamram, et Eseban et Iethran, et Charan.
42 Ezer’s sons were Bilhan, Zaavan, and Akan (OR, Jaakan). Dishan’s sons were Uz and Aran.
Filii Eser: Balaan, et Zavan, et Iacan. Filii Disan: Hus et Aran.
43 [These are the names of] the kings that ruled [the] Edom [region] before any kings ruled over Israel: Bela, the son of Beor, was king in Edom, and the name of the city [in which he lived] was Dinhabah.

44 When Bela died, Jobab, the son of Zerah from Bozrah [city], became the king.
Mortuus est autem Bale, et regnavit pro eo Iobab filius Zare de Bosra.
45 When Jobab died, Husham became the king. He was from the region where the Teman people-group lived.
Cumque et Iobab fuisset mortuus, regnavit pro eo Husam de Terra Themanorum.
46 When Husham died, Hadad, the son of Bedad, became the king. He [ruled in] Avith city. Hadad’s [army] defeated [the army of the] Midian [people-group] in [the] Moab [region].
Obiit quoque et Husam, et regnavit pro eo Adad filius Badad, qui percussit Madian in Terra Moab: et nomen civitatis eius Avith.
47 When Hadad died, Samlah became the king. He was from Masrekah [town].
Cumque et Adad fuisset mortuus, regnavit pro eo Semla de Masreca.
48 When Samlah died, Shaul became the king. He was from Rehoboth [city] along the [Euphrates] river.
Sed et Semla mortuus est, et regnavit pro eo Saul de Rohoboth, quæ iuxta amnem sita est.
49 When Shaul died, Baal-Hanan, the son of Achbor, became the king.
Mortuo quoque Saul, regnavit pro eo Balanan filius Achobor.
50 When Baal-Hanan died, Hadad became the king. He was from Pau city. His wife’s name was Mehetabel; she was the daughter of Matred and the granddaughter of Me-Zahab.
Sed et hic mortuus est, et regnavit pro eo Adad: cuius urbis nomen fuit Phau, et appellata est uxor eius Meetabel filia Matred filiæ Mezaab.
51 Then Hadad died. The leaders of the clans of the Edom people-group were Timna, Alvah, Jetheth,
Adad autem mortuo, duces pro regibus in Edom esse cœperunt: dux Thamna, dux Alva, dux Ietheth,
52 Oholibamah, Elah, Pinon,
dux Oolibama, dux Ela, dux Phinon,
dux Cenez, dux Theman, dux Mabsar,
dux Magdiel, dux Hiram. Hi duces Edom.
