Romans 15
1 Now we who are strong ought to bear with the weaknesses of those who are without strength; we ought not to please ourselves.
私たち力のある者は、力のない人たちの弱さをになうべきです。自分を喜ばせるべきではありません。
2 Let each of us please his neighbor for his good, to build him up.
私たちはひとりひとり、隣人を喜ばせ、その徳を高め、その人の益となるようにすべきです。
3 For even Christ did not please himself, but as it is written, “The reproaches of those who reproached yoʋ fell on me.”
キリストでさえ、ご自身を喜ばせることはなさらなかったのです。むしろ、「あなたをそしる人々のそしりは、わたしの上にふりかかった。」と書いてあるとおりです。
4 For everything that was written in former times was written for our instruction, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures, we might have hope.
昔書かれたものは、すべて私たちを教えるために書かれたのです。それは、聖書の与える忍耐と励ましによって、希望を持たせるためなのです。
5 Now may the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to have the same mind toward one another, following the example of Christ Jesus,
どうか、忍耐と励ましの神が、あなたがたを、キリスト・イエスにふさわしく、互いに同じ思いを持つようにしてくださいますように。
6 so that with one accord and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
それは、あなたがたが、心を一つにし、声を合わせて、私たちの主イエス・キリストの父なる神をほめたたえるためです。
7 Therefore receive one another, just as Christ has received you, to the glory of God.
こういうわけですから、キリストが神の栄光のために、私たちを受け入れてくださったように、あなたがたも互いに受け入れなさい。
8 Now I say that Christ Jesus has become a servant to the circumcised on behalf of the truth of God in order to confirm the promises that were made to the fathers,
私は言います。キリストは、神の真理を現わすために、割礼のある者のしもべとなられました。それは先祖たちに与えられた約束を保証するためであり、
9 so that the Gentiles might glorify God for his mercy. As it is written, “Therefore I will confess yoʋ among the Gentiles; I will sing praise to yoʋr name.”
また異邦人も、あわれみのゆえに、神をあがめるようになるためです。こう書かれているとおりです。 「それゆえ、私は異邦人の中で、 あなたをほめたたえ、 あなたの御名をほめ歌おう。」
10 And again it says, “Rejoice, O Gentiles, with his people.”
また、こうも言われています。 「異邦人よ。主の民とともに喜べ。」
11 And again, “Praise the Lord, all you Gentiles, and extol him, all you peoples.”
さらにまた、 「すべての異邦人よ。主をほめよ。 もろもろの国民よ。主をたたえよ。」
12 And again, Isaiah says, “The root of Jesse will appear, he who arises to rule the Gentiles; in him the Gentiles will hope.”
さらにまた、イザヤがこう言っています。 「エッサイの根が起こる。 異邦人を治めるために立ち上がる方である。 異邦人はこの方に望みをかける。」
13 Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
どうか、望みの神が、あなたがたを信仰によるすべての喜びと平和をもって満たし、聖霊の力によって望みにあふれさせてくださいますように。
14 I myself am convinced about you, my brothers, that you yourselves are full of goodness, filled with all knowledge, and able to admonish others.
私の兄弟たちよ。あなたがた自身が善意にあふれ、すべての知恵に満たされ、また互いに訓戒し合うことができることを、この私は確信しています。
15 But I have written to you rather boldly in part, brothers, by way of reminder, because of the grace that was given to me by God
ただ私が所々、かなり大胆に書いたのは、あなたがたにもう一度思い起こしてもらうためでした。
16 to be a minister of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles in the priestly service of the gospel of God, so that the Gentiles might become an acceptable offering, sanctified by the Holy Spirit.
それも私が、異邦人のためにキリスト・イエスの仕え人となるために、神から恵みをいただいているからです。私は神の福音をもって、祭司の務めを果たしています。それは異邦人を、聖霊によってきよめられた、神に受け入れられる供え物とするためです。
17 Therefore I have a reason for boasting in Christ Jesus in my service to God.
それで、神に仕えることに関して、私はキリスト・イエスにあって誇りを持っているのです。
18 For I will not dare to speak of anything other than what Christ has accomplished through me to bring about the obedience of the Gentiles, by word and deed,
私は、キリストが異邦人を従順にならせるため、この私を用いて成し遂げてくださったこと以外に、何かを話そうなどとはしません。キリストは、ことばと行ないにより、
19 by the power of signs and wonders, and by the power of the Spirit of God, so that from Jerusalem all the way around to Illyricum, I have fully preached the gospel of Christ.
また、しるしと不思議をなす力により、さらにまた、御霊の力によって、それを成し遂げてくださいました。その結果、私はエルサレムから始めて、ずっと回ってイルリコに至るまで、キリストの福音をくまなく伝えました。
20 And in this way I aspire to preach the gospel where the name of Christ has not been heard, so that I do not build upon another's foundation,
このように、私は、他人の土台の上に建てないように、キリストの御名がまだ語られていない所に福音を宣べ伝えることを切に求めたのです。
21 but as it is written, “Those who were not told about him will see, and those who have not heard will understand.”
それは、こう書いてあるとおりです。 「彼のことを伝えられなかった人々が 見るようになり、 聞いたことのなかった人々が 悟るようになる。」
22 That is why I have often been hindered from coming to you.
そういうわけで、私は、あなたがたのところに行くのを幾度も妨げられましたが、
23 But now, since I no longer have a place in these regions, and since I have longed for many years to come to you,
今は、もうこの地方には私の働くべき所がなくなりましたし、また、イスパニヤに行くばあいは、あなたがたのところに立ち寄ることを多年希望していましたので、
24 I will come to you when I go to Spain. For I hope to see you when I pass through, and to have you send me on my way there, once I have first enjoyed your company for a while.
――というのは、途中あなたがたに会い、まず、しばらくの間あなたがたとともにいて心を満たされてから、あなたがたに送られ、そこへ行きたいと望んでいるからです。――
25 But now I am going to Jerusalem to serve the saints.
ですが、今は、聖徒たちに奉仕するためにエルサレムへ行こうとしています。
26 For Macedonia and Achaia have been pleased to make a contribution for the poor among the saints in Jerusalem.
それは、マケドニヤとアカヤでは、喜んでエルサレムの聖徒たちの中の貧しい人たちのために醵金することにしたからです。
27 They were pleased to do so, and indeed they owe it to them. For if the Gentiles have come to share in the spiritual blessings of the Jews, they owe it to the Jews to share with them their material blessings.
彼らは確かに喜んでそれをしたのですが、同時にまた、その人々に対してはその義務があるのです。異邦人は霊的なことでは、その人々からもらいものをしたのですから、物質的な物をもって彼らに奉仕すべきです。
28 So when I have finished this task and have sealed to them this fruit, I will set out for Spain and visit you on the way.
それで、私はこのことを済ませ、彼らにこの実を確かに渡してから、あなたがたのところを通ってイスパニヤに行くことにします。
29 And I know that when I come to you, I will come in the fullness of the blessing of the gospel of Christ.
あなたがたのところに行くときは、キリストの満ちあふれる祝福をもって行くことと信じています。
30 Now I urge you, brothers, by our Lord Jesus Christ and by the love of the Spirit, to strive together with me in your prayers to God on my behalf.
兄弟たち。私たちの主イエス・キリストによって、また、御霊の愛によって切にお願いします。私のために、私とともに力を尽くして神に祈ってください。
31 Pray that I may be rescued from those in Judea who refuse to believe and that my ministry to Jerusalem may be acceptable to the saints,
私がユダヤにいる不信仰な人々から救い出され、またエルサレムに対する私の奉仕が聖徒たちに受け入れられるものとなりますように。
32 so that I may come to you in joy by the will of God and be refreshed together with you.
その結果として、神のみこころにより、喜びをもってあなたがたのところへ行き、あなたがたの中で、ともにいこいを得ることができますように。
33 May the God of peace be with you all. Amen.
どうか、平和の神が、あなたがたすべてとともにいてくださいますように。アーメン。
