< Romans 11 >
1 I ask then, has God rejected his people? Certainly not! For I too am an Israelite, a descendant of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin.
Anis, “Egaa Waaqni saba isaa ni gatee ree?” jedhee nan gaafadha. Kun gonkumaa akkas miti! Ani iyyuu Israaʼelicha, sanyii Abrahaam keessaa gosa Beniyaam.
2 God has not rejected his people whom he foreknew. Do you not know what the Scripture says in the passage about Elijah, how he pleads with God against Israel, saying,
Waaqni saba isaa warra duraan dursee beeke sana hin ganne; isin waaʼee Eeliyaas, inni akkamitti Waaqa duratti akka Israaʼelin himate Katabbiin Qulqulluun maal akka jedhu hin beektanii? Innis akkana jedha:
3 “Lord, they have killed yoʋr prophets and demolished yoʋr altars, and I alone am left, and they are seeking my life”?
“Yaa Gooftaa isaan raajota kee ajjeesaniiru; iddoo aarsaa keetii illee diiganiiru; anuma qofatu hafe; anas ajjeesuu barbaadu.”
4 But what does the divine response say to him? “I have reserved for myself seven thousand men who have not bowed down to Baal.”
Garuu deebiin Waaqni isaaf kenne maal ture? “Ani ofii kootiif namoota Baʼaaliif hin jilbeenfatin 7,000 hambifadheera.”
5 So then, in the present time also there is a remnant chosen by grace.
Akkasuma yeroo ammaas hambaawwan ayyaanaan filataman jiru.
6 Now if it is by grace, it is no longer by works, otherwise grace would no longer be grace. But if it is by works, it is no longer grace, otherwise work would no longer be work.
Erga ayyaanaan taʼe immoo siʼachi hojiin miti; utuu hojiin taʼee immoo ayyaanni silaa ayyaana hin taʼu ture.
7 What then? Israel did not obtain what it was seeking. The chosen obtained it, but the rest were hardened,
Egaa maali ree? Israaʼel waan jabeessee barbaade sana hin arganne; warri filataman garuu argataniiru. Warri kaan immoo mataa jabaatan.
8 as it is written, “God gave them a spirit of stupor, eyes not to see and ears not to hear, down to this very day.”
Kunis isa, “Waaqni hamma guyyaa harʼaatti, akka iji isaanii hin argineef, akka gurri isaaniis hin dhageenyeef, hafuura nama dawweessu isaaniif kenne” jedhamee barreeffamee dha.
9 And David says, “Let their table become a snare and a trap, a stumbling block and a retribution to them.
Daawitis akkana jedha; “Maaddiin isaanii iddaa fi kiyyoo, gufuu nama gufachiisuu fi adaba isaanitti haa taʼu.
10 Let their eyes be darkened so that they cannot see, and keep their backs forever bent.”
Akka arguu hin dandeenyeef iji isaanii haa haguuggamu; dugdi isaaniis bara baraan haa goophatu.”
11 I ask then, did the Israelites stumble so as to fall? Certainly not! Rather, by their trespass salvation has come to the Gentiles, to provoke Israel to jealousy.
Anis deebisee, “Isaan hamma kufanii kaʼuu hin dandeenyetti gufatanii?” jedheen gaafadha. Kun gonkumaa akkas miti! Garuu akka sabni Israaʼel hinaafuuf sababii balleessaa isaaniitiif fayyinni Namoota Ormaatiif dhufe.
12 Now if their trespass means riches for the world, and their loss means riches for the Gentiles, how much more will it mean when their full number is included?
Yoos erga balleessaan isaanii addunyaaf badhaadhummaa fidee, kufaatiin isaaniis erga Namoota Ormaatiif badhaadhummaa fidee, guutummaan isaanii immoo hammam caalaa badhaadhummaa haa fiduu ree?
13 Now I am speaking to you who are Gentiles. Inasmuch as I am an apostle to the Gentiles, I glorify my ministry
Yaa Namoota Ormaa, ani isinittin dubbadha. Ani waanan ergamaa Namoota Ormaa taʼeef, tajaajila koo nan kabaja.
14 if somehow I provoke my own people to jealousy and save some of them.
Kanaanis ani tarii saba koo hinaaffaaf kakaasee isaan keessaa tokko tokko fayyisuu abdadhee ti.
15 For if their rejection means reconciliation for the world, what will their acceptance mean but life from the dead?
Erga gatamuun isaanii addunyaaf araara fidee, fudhatamuun isaanii immoo warra duʼan keessaa jireenyatti kaafamuu malee maal fida ree?
16 If the dough offered as firstfruits is holy, so is the whole lump; and if the root is holy, so are the branches.
Kutaan bukoo kan akka kennaa hangafaatti dhiʼeeffame tokko erga qulqulluu taʼee, bukoon guutuun qulqulluu dha; hiddi erga qulqulluu taʼee, dameewwan isaas akkasuma qulqulloota.
17 Now if some of the branches have been broken off, and yoʋ, a wild olive branch, have been grafted in among them and have become a fellow partaker of the root and richness of the olive tree,
Dameewwan sana keessaa tokko tokko caccabsamnaan ati utuma lataa ejersa bosonaa taatee jirtuu iddoo dameewwan caccabaniitti fayyifamtee soora hidda ejersaa irraa argamu kan qooddattu taanaan,
18 do not boast against the branches. But if yoʋ do boast against them, remember that yoʋ do not sustain the root, but the root sustains yoʋ.
dameewwan sanatti hin koorin. Yoo of jajje garuu hidda sanatu si baata malee akka ati hidda sana hin baanne hubadhu.
19 Yoʋ will say then, “Branches were broken off so that I could be grafted in.”
Atis, “Akka ani itti fayyifamuuf dameewwan sun caccabsaman” ni jetta.
20 Right! They were broken off because of unbelief, but yoʋ stand because of faith. So do not be arrogant, but be afraid.
Kun dhuguma. Isaan waan amantii hin qabneef caccabsaman; ati garuu amantiidhaan dhaabatteerta. Kanaafuu sodaadhu malee of hin tuulin.
21 For if God did not spare the natural branches, perhaps he will not spare yoʋ either.
Waaqni yoo dameewwan uumamaatiif hin hilin siifis hin hiluutii.
22 Consider therefore the kindness and severity of God: to those who have fallen, severity; but to yoʋ, kindness, if yoʋ continue in his kindness; otherwise yoʋ too will be cut off.
Egaa arjummaa fi gara jabina Waaqaa hubadhu: gara jabinni isaa warra kufan irratti; arjummaan isaa garuu hamma ati arjummaa isaa keessa jiraattutti siif; yoo kanaa achii atis ni kutamta.
23 And if they do not continue in unbelief, they will be grafted in; for God is able to graft them in again.
Isaanis yoo amantii dhabuutti fufuu baatan itti fayyifamu; Waaqni deebisee itti isaan fayyisuu ni dandaʼaatii.
24 For if yoʋ were cut off from what is by nature a wild olive tree and were grafted contrary to nature into a cultivated olive tree, how much more will the natural branches be grafted back into their own olive tree?
Ati muka uumamaan ejersa bosonaa taʼe irraa muramtee karaa seera uumamaatiin ala taʼeen muka ejersaa kan dhaabame irratti erga fayyifamtee, dameewwan uumamaa kunneen hammam caalaa muka ejersa isaanii irratti deebifamanii hin fayyifaman ree!
25 I do not want you to be unaware, brothers, of this mystery, lest you be wise in your own estimation: A partial hardening has come upon Israel until the full number of Gentiles has come in,
Yaa obboloota, ani akka isin ogeeyyii of seetanii icciitii kana wallaaltan hin barbaadu; hamma lakkoobsi Namoota Ormaa guutuun seenutti Israaʼel gariin mata jabinaan jiraachaa turan.
26 and in this way all Israel will be saved, as it is written, “The Deliverer will come from Zion and will remove ungodliness from Jacob.”
Kanaafuu Israaʼel hundi ni fayyu; akkana jedhamee barreeffameeraatii: “Inni furu Xiyoonii ni dhufa; Yaaqoob irraas Waaqa malee jiraachuu ni balleessa.
27 “And this will be my covenant with them, when I take away their sins.”
Yommuu ani cubbuu isaanii isaan irraa fuudhutti, kakuun koo kan ani isaan wajjin qabu kana.”
28 With respect to the gospel, the Israelites are enemies for your sake; but with respect to being chosen, they are beloved for the sake of the fathers.
Akka wangeelaatti isiniif jecha isaan diinota; akka filannootti garuu abbootiif jecha isaan jaallatamoo dha;
29 For the gifts and calling of God are irrevocable.
kennaan Waaqaatii fi waamichi isaa gaabbii hin qabuutii.
30 Just as you were once disobedient to God but have now received mercy because of their disobedience,
Akkuma isin kanaan dura Waaqaaf ajajamuu diddanii amma garuu ajajamuu diduu isaaniitiin araara argattan sana
31 so they too have now become disobedient in order that, by the mercy shown to you, they also may receive mercy.
isaanis akkasuma araara Waaqaa kan isin argattaniin akka araara argataniif amma ajajamuu didan.
32 For God has confined all in disobedience so that he might have mercy on all. (eleēsē )
Waaqni hunduma isaaniitiif araara buusuuf jedhee namoota hunda ajajamuu diduu jala galche. (eleēsē )
33 Oh the depth of the riches, wisdom, and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and untraceable his ways!
Badhaadhummaan ogummaatii fi beekumsa Waaqaa hammam gad fagaata! Murtiin isaa qoramee bira hin gaʼamu! Karaan isaas barbaadamee itti hin baʼamu!
34 “For who has known the mind of the Lord, or who has become his counselor?”
“Eenyutu yaada garaa Gooftaa beeke? Yookaan eenyutu gorsaa isaa ture?”
35 “Or who has first given to God, that he should be repaid?”
“Yookaan akka Waaqni deebisee isaaf kennuuf jedhee, eenyutu takkumaa Waaqaaf waa kenne?”
36 For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be the glory forever. Amen. (aiōn )
Wanti hundinuu isa irraa dhufe; isumaan dhufe; isaaf dhufe. Bara baraan ulfinni isaaf haa taʼu! Ameen. (aiōn )
