The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to show unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John:
2 who testified to the word of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ, even to all that he saw.
Who bare record of the word (logos) of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of all things that he saw.
3 Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of this prophecy and keep what is written in it, for the time is near.
Blessed is he that reads, and they that hear the words (logos) of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.
4 John to the seven churches in Asia: Grace to you and peace from God, who is and who was and who is to come, and from the seven Spirits who are before his throne,
John to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace be unto you, and peace, from him which is, and which was, and which is to come; and from the seven Spirits (pneuma) which are before his throne;
5 and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth. To him who loves us and washed us from our sins with his blood
And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the First-Born of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,
6 and made us to be a kingdom, priests to his God and Father—to him be the glory and the power forever and ever. Amen. (aiōn )
And has made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen. (aiōn )
7 Behold, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him, and all the tribes of the earth will wail on account of him. So shall it be! Amen.
Behold, he comes with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all families of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.
8 “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”
I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, says the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.
9 I, John, your brother and partner in the tribulation, kingdom, and endurance that are in Christ Jesus, was on the island called Patmos because of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ.
I John, who also am your brother, and companion in tribulation, and in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was in the isle that is called Patmos, for the word (logos) of God, and for the testimony of Jesus Christ.
10 I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and I heard behind me a loud voice like that of a trumpet,
I was in the Spirit (pneuma) on the Lord's day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet,
11 saying, “Write what yoʋ see in a book and send it to the seven churches: to Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia, and Laodicea.”
Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and, What you see, write in a book, and send it unto the seven churches which are in Asia; unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea.
12 Then I turned in that direction to see the voice that was speaking to me. And when I turned, I saw seven golden lampstands,
And I turned to see the voice that spoke with me. And being turned, I saw seven golden candlesticks;
13 and in the midst of the seven lampstands I saw one like a son of man, clothed with a robe reaching down to his feet and with a golden sash wrapped around his chest.
And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the breast with a golden girdle.
14 His head and his hair were white like wool, as white as snow. His eyes were like a flame of fire,
His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire;
15 his feet were like burnished bronze refined in a furnace, and his voice was like the roar of many waters.
And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters.
16 In his right hand he held seven stars, and out of his mouth came a sharp two-edged sword. His face was like the sun shining in its strength.
And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp two-edged sword: and his countenance was as the sun shines in his strength.
17 When I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. But he placed his right hand on me and said, “Do not be afraid. I am the first and the last,
And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last:
18 the living one. I was dead, but behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. I have the keys of Death and Hades. (aiōn , Hadēs )
I am he that lives, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death. (aiōn , Hadēs )
19 Therefore write what yoʋ have seen, what is now and what will take place after this.
Write the things which you have seen, and the things which are, and the things which shall be hereafter;
20 This is the mystery of the seven stars that yoʋ saw in my right hand and the seven golden lampstands: The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches, and the seven lampstands are the seven churches.
The mystery of the seven stars which you saw in my right hand, and the seven golden candlesticks. The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches: and the seven candlesticks which you saw are the seven churches.
