Philemon 1
1 Paul, a prisoner for Christ Jesus, and Timothy our brother, to Philemon, our beloved friend and fellow worker,
Paul, prisonnier de Jésus-Christ, et le frère Timothée à Philémon, notre bien-aimé et notre collaborateur,
2 and also to the beloved Apphia, to Archippus our fellow soldier, and to the church that meets in yoʋr house:
à notre soeur Appia, à Archippe, notre compagnon d'armes, et à l'église qui s'assemble dans ta maison.
3 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Grâce et paix vous soient accordées par Dieu notre Père et par le Seigneur Jésus-Christ.
4 I give thanks to my God, always making mention of yoʋ in my prayers,
Je rends sans cesse grâce à mon Dieu quand ton souvenir se présente à moi dans mes prières.
5 because I hear of yoʋr love for all the saints and the faith that yoʋ have toward the Lord Jesus.
J'apprends, en effet, ta foi au Seigneur Jésus et ton amour pour tous les fidèles,
6 I pray that yoʋr fellowship with us in the faith may be effective in deepening yoʋr understanding of every blessing that we have in Christ Jesus.
et je demande que ta foi se communique et porte des fruits et que tu saches ce qui pour nous est le bien, en vue de Christ!
7 We are very thankful for the comfort we have received from yoʋr love, because the hearts of the saints have been refreshed through yoʋ, brother.
Ton amour, en effet, nous a causé beaucoup de joie et de consolation; car les coeurs des fidèles ont été tranquillisés par toi, frère.
8 Therefore, although I am bold enough in Christ to command yoʋ to do what is right,
Aussi aurais-je le droit en Christ de te prescrire en toute confiance ce que tu dois faire;
9 I would rather appeal to yoʋ on the basis of love. I, Paul, an old man and now a prisoner for Jesus Christ,
mais je préfère m'adresser à toi au nom de cet amour, et en mon nom, au nom de Paul, un vieillard, et, dans ce moment, un prisonnier de Jésus-Christ.
10 appeal to yoʋ on behalf of my child, Onesimus, whose father I have become during my imprisonment.
Je t'adresse donc une prière pour mon fils, que j'ai engendré dans les fers, pour Onésime.
11 Once he was useless to yoʋ, but now he is useful both to yoʋ and to me. I am sending him back,
Il s'appelle Utile, et il ne te servait à rien autrefois. A l'avenir il nous servira beaucoup à tous les deux.
12 and I ask yoʋ to receive him, that is, my very own heart.
Je te le renvoie, lui, c'est-à-dire la meilleure partie de moi-même.
13 I wanted to keep him with me so that he could serve me in yoʋr place during my imprisonment for the gospel.
Je voulais le retenir auprès de moi, pour qu'au lieu de te servir, il me servît pendant que je suis prisonnier pour l'Évangile;
14 But I did not want to do anything without yoʋr consent, so that yoʋr good deed would not be done out of compulsion, but of yoʋr own free will.
mais je n'ai rien voulu faire sans ton avis, afin de ne pas t'obliger à lui faire du bien, et de te laisser entièrement libre.
15 Perhaps the reason he was separated from yoʋ for an hour was so that yoʋ might have him back forever, (aiōnios g166)
Peut-être n'a-t-il été séparé de toi un moment qu'afin que tu le retrouves à jamais (aiōnios g166)
16 no longer as a slave, but more than a slave, as a beloved brother, especially to me, but even more so to yoʋ, both in the flesh and in the Lord.
non plus comme esclave, mais comme frère bien-aimé au lieu d'esclave; oui, bien-aimé de moi d'abord et plus encore de toi et selon la nature et selon le Seigneur!
17 So if yoʋ consider me to be a partner, receive him as yoʋ would receive me.
Si donc tu me considères comme ton ami, reçois-le comme moi-même.
18 If he has wronged yoʋ in any way or owes yoʋ anything, charge it to me.
S'il t'a fait quelque tort, s'il te doit quelque chose, passe-le à mon compte.
19 I, Paul, write this with my own hand: I will repay it (not to mention that yoʋ owe me yoʋr very own life).
Moi, Paul, — j'écris ceci de ma main — je te rembourserai, sans te rappeler que tu es mon débiteur et que tu l'es de ta propre personne.
20 Yes, brother, let me have some benefit from yoʋ in the Lord. Refresh my heart in the Lord.
Allons, frère, fais-moi ce plaisir dans le Seigneur! Tranquillise mon coeur en Christ!
21 Trusting in yoʋr obedience, I write to yoʋ, knowing that yoʋ will do even more than I ask.
Je t'écris convaincu de ton obéissance, certain même que tu iras au delà de ce que je te demande.
22 At the same time, I want yoʋ to prepare a guest room for me, for I hope that through your prayers I will be restored to you soon.
En même temps, prépare-toi à me recevoir; car j'espère vous être rendu, grâce à vos prières.
23 Epaphras, my fellow prisoner in Christ Jesus,
Épaphras, mon compagnon de chaînes en Jésus-Christ, te salue
24 and Mark, Aristarchus, Demas, and Luke, my fellow workers, greet yoʋ.

25 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen.
