< Matthew 8 >

1 When Jesus came down from the mountain, large crowds followed him.
Awo Yesu bwe yava ku lusozi ekibiina kinene ne kimugoberera.
2 And behold, a leper came and bowed down before him, saying, “Lord, if yoʋ are willing, yoʋ can make me clean.”
Omusajja omugenge n’ajja gy’ali n’amuvuunamira ng’agamba nti, “Mukama wange, bw’obanga oyagala oyinza okunnongoosa.”
3 So Jesus stretched out his hand and touched him, saying, “I am willing; be made clean.” Immediately his leprosy was cleansed.
Yesu n’agolola omukono gwe n’amukwatako n’amugamba nti, “Njagala, longooka.” Amangwago omusajja n’awona ebigenge.
4 Then Jesus said to him, “Be sure not to tell anyone about this, but go show yoʋrself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, as a testimony to them.”
Yesu n’amugamba nti, “Laba, tobaako muntu n’omu gw’obuulira, wabula genda weerage eri kabona otwaleyo n’ekirabo nga Musa bwe yalagira, kibeere obujulirwa gye bali.”
5 When Jesus entered Capernaum, a centurion came to him and pleaded with him,
Awo Yesu bwe yayingira mu Kaperunawumu, omuserikale Omuruumi, omukulu w’ekitongole ky’abaserikale ekikumi, n’ajja n’amwegayirira,
6 saying, “Lord, my servant is lying paralyzed at home, suffering terribly.”
ng’agamba nti, “Mukama omulenzi wange mulwadde nnyo, amaze ebbanga ddene ng’akoozimbye ali ku kitanda era abonaabona nnyo.”
7 Jesus said to him, “I will come and heal him.”
Yesu n’amuddamu nti, “Nnajja ne mmuwonya.”
8 But the centurion replied, “Lord, I am not worthy to have yoʋ enter under my roof, but just say the word, and my servant will be healed.
Omukulu w’ekitongole n’agamba Yesu nti, “Mukama, sisaanira kukuyingiza mu nnyumba yange, yogera bwogezi ekigambo, omulenzi wange anaawona!
9 For I too am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. I say to this one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes; and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.”
Kubanga nange waliwo abakulu abantwala, ate nga nange nnina be nfuga. Bwe ndagira omu nti, ‘Genda,’ agenda, n’omulala nti, ‘Jjangu,’ era ajja, n’omuddu wange nti, ‘Kola kino,’ akikola.”
10 When Jesus heard this, he was amazed and said to those who were following him, “Truly I say to you, not even in Israel have I found such great faith.
Yesu bwe yawulira ekyo ne yeewunya nnyo, n’agamba abaali bamugoberera nti, “Ddala ddala mbagamba nti, Sinnalabayo muntu alina kukkiriza nga kuno wadde mu lsirayiri!
11 I tell you that many will come from east and west, and recline with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob at the banquet table in the kingdom of heaven,
Mbagamba nti bangi baliva ebuvanjuba n’ebugwanjuba ne batuula wamu ne Ibulayimu ne Isaaka ne Yakobo mu bwakabaka obw’omu ggulu.
12 but the sons of the kingdom will be cast into the outer darkness; in that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”
Naye abaana b’obwakabaka, baligoberwa ebweru mu kizikiza ekikutte, eriba okukuba ebiwoobe n’okuluma obujiji.”
13 Then Jesus said to the centurion, “Go; it will be done for you just as yoʋ have believed.” And his servant was healed in that hour.
Awo Yesu n’agamba omukulu w’ekitongole Omuruumi nti, “Ggenda. Nga bw’okkirizza kikukolerwe.” Omulenzi we n’awonerawo mu kiseera ekyo.
14 When Jesus came into Peter's house, he saw Peter's mother-in-law lying in bed with a fever.
Awo Yesu bwe yayingira mu maka ga Peetero yasanga nnyina wa muka Peetero alwadde omusujja mungi, ng’agalamidde ku kitanda.
15 So he touched her hand, and the fever left her. Then she rose and began to serve him.
Yesu n’amukwata ku mukono omusujja ne gumuwonako, n’agolokoka n’amuweereza.
16 When evening came, many who were possessed by demons were brought to him, and he cast out the spirits with a word and healed all who were sick.
Obudde bwe bwawungeera, ne bamuleetera abalwadde bangi abaaliko baddayimooni. N’ayogera bwogezi kigambo baddayimooni n’abagoba, era n’awonya n’abalala bonna abaali balwadde.
17 This was to fulfill what had been spoken by the prophet Isaiah: “He took our infirmities and bore our diseases.”
Bwe kityo ekigambo ekyayogerebwa mu nnabbi Isaaya ne kituukirira bwe yagamba nti: “Yatuwonya endwadde zaffe, era n’atwala obunafu bwaffe.”
18 When Jesus saw the large crowds around him, he gave orders to depart to the other side of the sea.
Awo Yesu bwe yalaba ng’ekibiina ekimwetoolodde kinene n’alagira bawunguke balage ku ludda olulala.
19 Then a scribe came up and said to him, “Teacher, I will follow yoʋ wherever yoʋ go.”
Omu ku bawandiisi b’amateeka n’amusemberera n’amugamba nti, “Omuyigiriza, nnaakugobereranga wonna w’onoogendanga!”
20 Jesus said to him, “Foxes have holes, and the birds of the sky have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head.”
Yesu n’amuddamu nti, “Ebibe birina obunnya mwe bisula, n’ennyonyi ez’omu bbanga zirina ebisu, naye Omwana w’Omuntu talina kifo kya kuwumulizaamu mutwe gwe.”
21 Then another of his disciples said to him, “Lord, let me first go and bury my father.”
Omuyigirizwa we omu n’amugamba nti, “Mukama wange, nzikiriza mmale okugenda okuziika kitange.”
22 But Jesus said to him, “Follow me, and let the dead bury their own dead.”
Naye Yesu n’amuddamu nti, “Ngoberera! Leka abo abafu baziike abafu baabwe.”
23 Then he got into the boat, and his disciples followed him.
Yesu n’ayingira mu lyato n’abayigirizwa be.
24 And behold, a great storm arose on the sea, so that the boat was being swamped by the waves. But Jesus was asleep.
Awo omuyaga mungi ogw’amaanyi ne gujja ku nnyanja, amayengo amagulumivu ne gaba kumpi okubuutikira eryato. Naye yali yeebase.
25 So the disciples came to him and woke him, saying, “Lord, save us! We are perishing!”
Abayigirizwa be ne bajja gy’ali ne bamuzuukusa nga bagamba nti, “Mukama waffe, tulokole, tusaanawo!”
26 But he said to them, “Why are you afraid, O you of little faith?” Then he rose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm.
Yesu n’abaddamu nti, “Mmwe abalina okukkiriza okutono! Lwaki mutya bwe mutyo?” N’agolokoka n’aboggolera omuyaga. Omuyaga ne guggwaawo, ennyanja n’eteeka.
27 And the men were amazed, saying, “What kind of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him?”
Naye abayigirizwa ne bawuniikirira nnyo! Ne beebuuza nti, “Muntu ki ono, omuyaga n’ennyanja gwe bigondera?”
28 When Jesus came to the other side of the sea, to the region of the Gergesenes, he was met by two demon-possessed men who had come out of the tombs. They were so fierce that no one could pass by that way.
Awo bwe yatuuka emitala w’eri mu nsi y’Abagadaleni, abasajja babiri abaaliko baddayimooni ne bava mu malaalo ne bajja gy’ali. Baali bakambwe nnyo, nga tewali na muntu ayinza kuyita mu kkubo eryo.
29 And behold, they cried out, “What do yoʋ have to do with us, Jesus, Son of God? Have yoʋ come here to torment us before the appointed time?”
Ne bawowoggana nnyo nti, “Otwagaza ki, ggwe Omwana wa Katonda! Ojjidde ki okutubonyaabonya ng’ekiseera kyaffe tekinnaba kutuuka?”
30 Now at a distance from them there was a herd of many pigs feeding.
Walako ne we baali waaliwo eggana ly’embizzi nga zirya,
31 So the demons begged Jesus, “If yoʋ cast us out, let us go into the herd of pigs.”
baddayimooni ne basaba Yesu nti, “Obanga ogenda kutogoba ku bantu bano, tusindike mu ggana ly’embizzi.”
32 He said to them, “Go.” So they came out and went into the herd of pigs, and behold, the whole herd of pigs rushed down the steep bank into the sea and died in the water.
Yesu n’agamba baddayimooni nti, “Kale, mugende.” Ne bava ku bantu, ne bayingira mu mbizzi, eggana lyonna ne lifubutuka ne liva ku bbangabanga ne lyeyiwa mu nnyanja embizzi zonna ne zisaanawo.
33 Those who had been feeding the pigs then ran off, went into the city, and reported everything, including what had happened to the demon-possessed men.
Naye abaali balunda embizzi ne badduka ne bagenda mu kibuga ne babuulira abantu byonna ebibaddewo, n’eby’abasajja abaaliko baddayimooni.
34 And behold, the whole city went out to meet Jesus. And when they saw him, they begged him to depart from their region.
Abantu b’omu kibuga bonna ne bafuluma okujja okusisinkana Yesu. Bwe baamulaba ne bamwegayirira abaviire mu kitundu kyabwe.
