Matthew 26
1 When Jesus had finished saying all these things, he said to his disciples,
Y aconteció que como hubo acabado Jesús todas estas palabras, dijo a sus discípulos:
2 “You know that after two days the Passover is coming, and the Son of Man will be delivered up to be crucified.”
Sabéis que dentro de dos días se hace la pascua; y el Hijo del hombre es entregado para ser crucificado.
3 Then the chief priests, the scribes, and the elders of the people were gathered together in the courtyard of the high priest, whose name was Caiaphas,
Entonces los príncipes de los sacerdotes, y los escribas, y los ancianos del pueblo se juntaron en el palacio del sumo sacerdote, el cual se llamaba Caifás.
4 and they plotted together to arrest Jesus secretly and kill him.
Y tuvieron consejo para prender por engaño a Jesús, y matar le.
5 But they said, “Not during the feast, lest there be a riot among the people.”
Y decían: No en el día de la fiesta, porque no se haga alboroto en el pueblo.
6 Now when Jesus was in Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper,
Y estando Jesús en Betania, en casa de Simón el leproso,
7 a woman came to him with an alabaster jar of very expensive ointment, and she poured it on his head as he reclined at the table.
Vino a él una mujer, con un vaso de alabastro de ungüento de gran precio, y lo derramó sobre la cabeza de él, estando sentado a la mesa:
8 When his disciples saw it, they were indignant and said, “Why this waste?
Lo cual viendo sus discípulos, se enojaron, diciendo: ¿Por qué se pierde esto?
9 This ointment could have been sold for a large sum, and the money could have been given to the poor.”
Porque este ungüento se podía vender por gran precio, y darse a los pobres.
10 Aware of this, Jesus said to them, “Why are you causing trouble for this woman? She has done a good deed to me.
Y entendiéndo lo Jesús, les dijo: ¿Por qué dais pena a esta mujer? porque ha hecho buena obra para conmigo.
11 You always have the poor with you, but you will not always have me.
Porque siempre tenéis pobres con vosotros; mas a mí no siempre me tenéis.
12 She has put this ointment on my body to prepare me for burial.
Porque echando este ungüento sobre mi cuerpo, para sepultarme lo ha hecho.
13 Truly I say to you, wherever this gospel is preached in the whole world, what this woman has done will also be spoken of as a memorial to her.”
De cierto os digo, que donde quiera que este evangelio fuere predicado en todo el mundo, también será dicho para memoria de ella lo que esta ha hecho.
14 Then one of the twelve, the one called Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priests
Entonces uno de los doce, que se llamaba Júdas Iscariote, fue a los príncipes de los sacerdotes,
15 and said, “What are you willing to give me if I deliver him up to you?” So they set out for him thirty pieces of silver.
Y les dijo: ¿Qué me queréis dar, y yo os le entregaré? Y ellos le señalaron treinta piezas de plata.
16 And from then on he was looking for an opportunity to betray Jesus.
Y desde entonces buscaba oportunidad para entregarle.
17 On the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread, the disciples came to Jesus and said to him, “Where do yoʋ want us to make preparations for yoʋ to eat the Passover?”
Y el primer día de la fiesta de los panes sin levadura, vinieron los discípulos a Jesús, diciéndole: ¿Dónde quieres que te aderecemos para comer la pascua?
18 He said, “Go into the city to a certain man and say to him, ‘The Teacher says, “My time is near. I am going to keep the Passover with yoʋ, along with my disciples.”’”
Y él dijo: Id a la ciudad a casa de tal hombre, y decídle: El Maestro dice: Mi tiempo está cerca: en tu casa haré la pascua con mis discípulos.
19 So the disciples did as Jesus had directed them and prepared the Passover.
Y los discípulos hicieron como Jesús les mandó, y aderezaron la pascua.
20 When evening came, Jesus was reclining at the table with the twelve.
Y como fue la tarde del día, se sentó a la mesa con los doce.
21 As they were eating, he said, “Truly I say to you, one of you will betray me.”
Y comiendo ellos, dijo: De cierto os digo, que uno de vosotros me ha de entregar.
22 Greatly distressed, they began to say to him one after another, “Surely not I, Lord?”
Y ellos entristecidos en gran manera, comenzó cada uno de ellos a decirle: ¿Soy yo, Señor?
23 Jesus answered, “The one who has dipped his hand with me into the dish will betray me.
Entonces él respondiendo, dijo: El que mete la mano conmigo en el plato, éste me ha de entregar.
24 The Son of Man indeed goes just as it is written of him, but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would have been better for that man if he had not been born.”
A la verdad el Hijo del hombre va, como está escrito de él; mas ¡ay de aquel hombre por quien el Hijo del hombre es entregado! bueno le fuera al tal hombre no haber nacido.
25 Then Judas, who betrayed him, replied, “Surely not I, Rabbi?” Jesus said to him, “Yoʋ have said it yoʋrself.”
Entonces respondiendo Júdas, que le entregaba, dijo: ¿Soy yo quizá Maestro? Dícele: Tú lo has dicho.
26 As they were eating, Jesus took the bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it, gave it to the disciples, and said, “Take and eat this bread; this is my body.”
Y comiendo ellos, tomó Jesús el pan, y habiendo dado gracias lo rompió, y dio a sus discípulos, y dijo: Tomád, coméd: éste es mi cuerpo.
27 Then he took the cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, saying, “Drink of it, all of you,
Y tomando la copa, y hechas gracias, dióles, diciendo: Bebéd de ella todos.
28 for this is my blood of the new covenant, which is poured out for many for the remission of sins.
Porque esta es mi sangre del nuevo testamento, la cual es derramada por muchos para remisión de los pecados.
29 But I tell you, from this point forward I will certainly not drink again from this fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it with you anew in the kingdom of my Father.”
Y os digo, que desde ahora no beberé más de este fruto de la vid, hasta aquel día, cuando lo tengo de beber nuevo con vosotros en el reino de mi Padre.
30 And after singing a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.
Y cuando hubieron cantado un himno, salieron al monte de las Olivas.
31 Then Jesus said to them, “All of you will fall away because of me this night. For it is written, ‘I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock will be scattered.’
Entonces Jesús les dice: Todos vosotros seréis escandalizados en mí esta noche; porque escrito está: Heriré al pastor, y se descarriarán las ovejas de la manada.
32 But after I have been raised up, I will go ahead of you to Galilee.”
Mas después que haya resucitado, iré delante de vosotros a Galilea.
33 Peter answered him, “Even if everyone else falls away because of yoʋ, I will never fall away.”
Y respondiendo Pedro, le dijo: Aunque todos sean escandalizados en ti, yo nunca seré escandalizado.
34 Jesus said to him, “Truly I say to yoʋ that on this night, before a rooster crows, yoʋ will deny me three times.”
Jesús le dice: De cierto te digo, que esta noche, antes que el gallo cante, me negarás tres veces.
35 But Peter said to him, “Even if I must die with yoʋ, I will certainly not deny yoʋ.” And all the disciples said the same thing.
Dícele Pedro: Aunque me sea menester morir contigo, no te negaré. Y todos los discípulos dijeron lo mismo.
36 Then Jesus went with them to a place called Gethsemane, and he said to the disciples, “Sit here while I go over there and pray.”
Entonces llegó Jesús con ellos al huerto, que se llama Getsemaní, y dice a sus discípulos: Sentáos aquí, hasta que vaya allí, y ore.
37 And taking with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, he began to be sorrowful and distressed.
Y tomando a Pedro, y a los dos hijos de Zebedeo, comenzó a entristecerse, y a angustiarse en gran manera.
38 Then Jesus said to them, “My soul is very sorrowful, even to the point of death; stay here and keep watch with me.”
Entonces Jesús les dice: Mi alma está muy triste hasta la muerte: quedáos aquí, y velád conmigo.
39 And going a little farther, he fell on his face and prayed, “My Father, if possible, let this cup pass from me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as yoʋ will.”
Y yéndose un poco más adelante, se postró sobre su rostro, orando, y diciendo: Padre mío, si es posible, pase de mí esta copa: empero no como yo quiero, mas como tú.
40 Then he came to the disciples and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, “So you could not keep watch with me for one hour?
Y vino a sus discípulos, y los halló durmiendo; y dijo a Pedro: ¡Qué! ¿No habéis podido velar conmigo una hora?
41 Keep watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
Velád y orád, para que no entréis en tentación: el espíritu a la verdad está presto, mas la carne enferma.
42 Again, he went away for a second time and prayed, “My Father, if this cup cannot pass from me unless I drink it, may yoʋr will be done.”
Otra vez, fue segunda vez, y oró, diciendo: Padre mío, si no puede esta copa pasar de mí sin que yo la beba, hágase tu voluntad.
43 Then he came and found them sleeping again, for their eyes were heavy.
Y vino, y los halló otra vez durmiendo; porque los ojos de ellos eran agravados.
44 So he left them and went away again and prayed for a third time, saying the same thing.
Y dejándolos, fue otra vez, y oró tercera vez, diciendo las mismas palabras.
45 Then he came to his disciples and said to them, “Sleep on now and take your rest! Behold, the hour has drawn near, and the Son of Man is delivered up into the hands of sinners.
Entonces vino a sus discípulos, y les dice: Dormíd ya, y descansád: he aquí, ha llegado la hora, y el Hijo del hombre es entregado en manos de pecadores.
46 Rise, let us go. Behold, my betrayer has drawn near.”
Levantáos, vamos: he aquí, ha llegado el que me entrega.
47 While he was still speaking, behold, Judas, one of the twelve, came. With him was a large crowd with swords and clubs, sent from the chief priests and elders of the people.
Y hablando aun él, he aquí, Júdas, uno de los doce, vino, y con él una grande multitud, con espadas y palos, de parte de los príncipes de los sacerdotes, y de los ancianos del pueblo.
48 Now his betrayer had given them a sign, saying, “Whomever I kiss, he is the one; arrest him.”
Y el que le entregaba les había dado señal, diciendo: Al que yo besare, aquel es: tenédle bien.
49 Immediately he went up to Jesus and said, “Greetings, Rabbi!” And he kissed him.
Y luego que llegó a Jesús, dijo: Tengas gozo, Maestro. Y le besó.
50 Jesus said to him, “Friend, why have yoʋ come?” Then they came forward, took hold of Jesus, and arrested him.
Y Jesús le dijo: ¿Amigo, a qué vienes? Entonces llegaron, y echaron mano a Jesús, y le prendieron.
51 And behold, one of the men with Jesus stretched out his hand, drew his sword, and struck the servant of the high priest, cutting off his ear.
Y, he aquí, uno de los que estaban con Jesús, extendiendo la mano, sacó su espada, e hiriendo a un siervo del sumo sacerdote, le quitó una oreja.
52 Then Jesus said to him, “Put yoʋr sword back in its place, for all who take the sword will die by the sword.
Entonces Jesús le dice: Vuelve tu espada a su lugar; porque todos los que tomaren espada, a espada perecerán.
53 Or do yoʋ think that I cannot call on my Father right now, and he will provide me with more than twelve legions of angels?
O ¿piensas que no puedo ahora orar a mi Padre, y él me daría más de doce legiones de ángeles?
54 How then would the Scriptures be fulfilled that say it must happen this way?”
Mas ¿cómo se cumplirían entonces las Escrituras, de que así es menester que sea hecho?
55 In that hour Jesus said to the crowds, “Have you come out to arrest me with swords and clubs as you would against a robber? I sat daily with you, teaching in the temple courts, and you did not arrest me.
En aquella hora dijo Jesús a la multitud: Como a ladrón habéis salido con espadas y con palos a prenderme: cada día me sentaba con vosotros enseñando en el templo, y no me prendisteis.
56 But all this has taken place so that the Scriptures of the prophets would be fulfilled.” Then all the disciples left him and fled.
Mas todo esto se hace, para que se cumplan las Escrituras de los profetas. Entonces todos los discípulos huyeron, dejándole.
57 Now those who had arrested Jesus led him away to Caiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and the elders were assembled.
Y ellos, prendido Jesús, le trajeron a Caifás sumo sacerdote, donde los escribas y los ancianos estaban juntos.
58 But Peter was following him at a distance, coming as far as the courtyard of the high priest. After going inside, he sat with the officers to see the outcome.
Mas Pedro le seguía de lejos hasta el patio del sumo sacerdote; y entrado dentro, se estaba sentado con los criados, para ver el fin.
59 Now the chief priests, the elders, and the whole Sanhedrin were seeking false testimony against Jesus, so that they could put him to death,
Y los príncipes de los sacerdotes, y los ancianos, y todo el concilio buscaban algún falso testimonio contra Jesús, para entregarle a la muerte;
60 but they did not find any. Even though many false witnesses came forward, they did not find any.
Y no hallaban: y aunque muchos testigos falsos se llegaban, no lo hallaron. Mas a la postre vinieron dos testigos falsos,
61 But at last two false witnesses came forward and declared, “This man said, ‘I am able to destroy the temple of God and rebuild it in three days.’”
Que dijeron: Este dijo: Puedo derribar el templo de Dios, y reedificarle en tres días.
62 So the high priest stood up and said to him, “Do yoʋ make no answer? What are these men testifying against yoʋ?”
Y levantándose el sumo sacerdote, le dijo: ¿No respondes nada? ¿Qué testifican estos contra ti?
63 But Jesus was silent. Then the high priest said to him, “I adjure yoʋ by the living God to tell us if yoʋ are the Christ, the Son of God.”
Mas Jesús callaba. Y respondiendo el sumo sacerdote, le dijo: Te conjuro por el Dios viviente, que nos digas, si eres tú el Cristo, Hijo de Dios.
64 Jesus said to him, “Yoʋ have said it yoʋrself. Nevertheless I say to you, from now on you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of Power and coming on the clouds of heaven.”
Jesús le dice: Tú lo has dicho. Y aun os digo, que de aquí a poco habéis de ver al Hijo del hombre asentado a la diestra del poder de Dios, y viniendo sobre las nubes del cielo.
65 Then the high priest tore his garments and said, “He has blasphemed! What further need do we have of witnesses? Behold, you have now heard his blasphemy.
Entonces el sumo sacerdote rasgó sus vestiduras, diciendo: Blasfemado ha: ¿qué más necesidad tenemos de testigos? He aquí, ahora habéis oído su blasfemia.
66 What do you think?” They answered, “He deserves death.”
¿Qué os parece? Y respondiendo ellos dijeron: Culpado es de muerte.
67 Then they spit in his face and struck him. Others slapped him,
Entonces le escupieron en su rostro, y le dieron de bofetadas, y otros le herían a puñadas,
68 saying, “Prophesy to us, yoʋ Christ! Who is it that struck yoʋ?”
Diciendo: Profetízanos, oh Cristo, quién es el que te ha herido.
69 Now Peter was sitting outside in the courtyard, and a servant girl came to him and said, “Yoʋ also were with Jesus the Galilean.”
Y Pedro estaba sentado fuera en el patio; y se llegó a él una criada, diciendo: Y tú con Jesús el Galileo estabas.
70 But he denied it before them all, saying, “I do not know what yoʋ are talking about!”
Mas él negó delante de todos, diciendo: No sé lo que dices.
71 Then he went out to the gateway, and another servant girl saw him and said to the people there, “This man also was with Jesus of Nazareth.”
Y saliendo a la puerta, le vio otra, y dijo a los que estaban allí: También éste estaba con Jesús Nazareno.
72 But again he denied it with an oath: “I do not know the man.”
Y negó otra vez con juramento, diciendo: No conozco a ese hombre.
73 After a little while, the people standing there came up and said to Peter, “Truly yoʋ also are one of them, for even yoʋr accent gives yoʋ away.”
Y después de un poco se allegaron los que por allí estaban, y dijeron a Pedro: Verdaderamente también tú eres uno de ellos; porque aun tu habla te hace manifiesto.
74 Then he began to invoke curses and to swear, saying, “I do not know the man.” And immediately a rooster crowed.
Entonces comenzó a echarse maldiciones, y a jurar, diciendo: No conozco a ese hombre. Y el gallo cantó luego.
75 Then Peter remembered what Jesus had said to him: “Before a rooster crows, yoʋ will deny me three times.” And he went out and wept bitterly.
Y se acordó Pedro de las palabras de Jesús, que le dijo: Antes que cante el gallo, me negarás tres veces. Y saliéndose fuera, lloró amargamente.
