Matthew 19
1 When Jesus had finished saying these things, he departed from Galilee and came into the region of Judea beyond the Jordan.
Or, il arriva que lorsque Jésus eut achevé ses discours, il partit de Galilée et vint aux confins de la Judée, au-delà du Jourdain;
2 Large crowds followed him, and he healed them there.
Et de grandes troupes le suivirent, et il les guérit.
3 Then the Pharisees came up to Jesus and tested him by asking him, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any reason?”
Et les pharisiens s’approchèrent de lui pour le tenter, disant: Est-il permis à un homme de renvoyer sa femme pour quelque cause que ce soit?
4 He answered them, “Have you not read that he who made them from the beginning ‘made them male and female,’
Jésus répondant, leur dit: N’avez-vous pas lu que celui qui fit l’homme au commencement, les fit mâle et femelle, et qu’il dit:
5 and said, ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two will become one flesh’?
À cause de cela l’homme quittera son père et sa mère, et s’attachera à sa femme, et ils seront deux dans une seule chair?
6 So then, they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.”
Ainsi ils ne sont plus deux, mais une seule chair. Ce que Dieu donc a uni, que l’homme ne le sépare point.
7 They said to him, “Why then did Moses command us to give her a certificate of divorce and send her away?”
Ils lui demandèrent: Pourquoi donc Moïse a-t-il commandé de lui donner un acte de répudiation et de la renvoyer?
8 He said to them, “Because of your hardness of heart Moses allowed you to divorce your wives, but from the beginning it was not so.
II leur répondit: Parce que Moïse, à cause de la dureté de votre cœur, vous a permis de renvoyer vos femmes; mais au commencement il n’en fut pas ainsi.
9 I tell you that whoever divorces his wife, except for fornication, and marries another, commits adultery. And whoever marries a divorced woman commits adultery.”
Aussi je vous dis que quiconque renvoie sa femme, si ce n’est pour cause d’adultère, et en épouse une autre, commet un adultère; et celui qui épouse une femme renvoyée se rend adultère.
10 His disciples said to him, “If such is the case of a man with his wife, it is better not to marry.”
Ses disciples lui dirent: Si telle est la condition de l’homme à l’égard de sa femme, il n’est pas bon de se marier.
11 But Jesus said to them, “Not all men can accept this statement, but only those to whom it is given.
Jésus leur dit: Tous ne comprennent pas cette parole, mais ceux à qui il a été donné.
12 For there are eunuchs who were born that way from their mother's womb, and there are eunuchs who have been made eunuchs by men, and there are eunuchs who have made themselves eunuchs for the sake of the kingdom of heaven. Whoever is able to accept this should accept it.”
Car il y a des eunuques qui sont nés tels dès le sein de leur mère; il y en a que les hommes ont fait eunuques; et il y en a qui se sont eux-mêmes rendus eunuques, à cause du royaume des cieux. Que celui qui peut comprendre comprenne.
13 Then little children were brought to Jesus so that he might lay his hands on them and pray, but the disciples rebuked those who brought them.
Alors on lui présenta des petits enfants, pour qu’il leur imposât les mains et priât. Or les disciples les rebutaient.
14 Yet Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”
Mais Jésus leur dit: Laissez-ces petits enfants et ne les empêchez point de venir à moi; car à de tels appartient le royaume des cieux.
15 And after laying his hands on them, he departed from there.
Et lorsqu’il leur eut imposé les mains, il partit de là.
16 And behold, a man came and said to him, “Good Teacher, what good thing must I do to have eternal life?” (aiōnios g166)
Et voilà que quelqu’un s’approchant, lui dit: Bon maître, que ferai-je de bon pour avoir la vie éternelle? (aiōnios g166)
17 Jesus said to him, “Why do yoʋ call me good? No one is good except God alone. But if yoʋ wish to enter life, keep the commandments.”
Jésus lui répondit: Pourquoi m’interroges-tu sur ce qui est bon? Dieu seul est bon. Mais si tu veux entrer dans la vie, garde les commandements.
18 The man said to him, “Which ones?” Jesus said, “Yoʋ shall not murder, Yoʋ shall not commit adultery, Yoʋ shall not steal, Yoʋ shall not give false testimony,
Lesquels? demanda-t-il. Jésus répondit: Tu ne tueras point: Tu ne commettras point d’adultère: Tu ne déroberas point: Tu ne rendras point de faux témoignage:
19 Honor yoʋr father and yoʋr mother, and, Yoʋ shall love yoʋr neighbor as yoʋrself.”
Honore ton père et ta mère, et aime ton prochain comme toi-même.
20 The young man said to him, “I have kept all these commandments from the time I was a young boy; what do I still lack?”
Le jeune homme lui dit: J’ai observé tout cela depuis ma jeunesse; que me manque-t-il encore?
21 Jesus said to him, “If yoʋ wish to be perfect, go sell what yoʋ have and give to the poor, and yoʋ will have treasure in heaven; then come follow me.”
Jésus lui dit: Si tu veux être parfait, va, vends ce que tu as et donne-le aux pauvres, et tu auras un trésor dans le ciel; viens ensuite, et suis-moi.
22 But when the young man heard this, he went away sorrowful, for he had many possessions.
Lorsque le jeune homme eut entendu cette parole, il s’en alla triste; car il avait de grands biens.
23 Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Truly I say to you, only with difficulty will a rich person enter the kingdom of heaven.
Alors Jésus dit à ses disciples: En vérité, je vous dis qu’un riche entrera difficilement dans le royaume des cieux.
24 Again I say to you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God.”
Et je vous dis encore: Il est plus facile à un chameau de passer par le chas d’une aiguille, qu’à un riche d’entrer dans le royaume des cieux.
25 When his disciples heard this, they were greatly astonished and said, “Who then can be saved?”
Or, ces choses entendues, ses disciples s’étonnaient grandement, et disaient: Qui donc pourra être sauvé?
26 Jesus looked at them and said to them, “With men it is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
Mais Jésus les regardant leur dit: Aux hommes, cela est impossible, mais à Dieu tout est possible.
27 Then Peter said to him in response, “Behold, we have left everything and followed yoʋ; what then will there be for us?”
Alors reprenant, Pierre lui dit: Et nous, voici que nous avons tout quitté pour vous suivre: qu’y aura-t-il donc pour nous?
28 Jesus said to them, “Truly I say to you, when all things are made new and the Son of Man sits on his throne of glory, you who have followed me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
Jésus leur dit: En vérité, je vous dis que vous qui m’avez suivi, lorsqu’à la régénération, le Fils de l’homme sera assis sur le trône de sa gloire, vous aussi, vous serez assis sur douze trônes, jugeant les douze tribus d’Israël.
29 And everyone who has left houses, brothers, sisters, father, mother, wife, children, or fields for my name's sake, will receive a hundred times more and will inherit eternal life. (aiōnios g166)
Et quiconque aura quitté ou maison, ou frères, ou sœurs, ou père, ou mère, ou femme, ou fils, ou terre, à cause de mon nom, recevra le centuple, et aura pour héritage la vie éternelle. (aiōnios g166)
30 But many who are first will be last, and many who are last will be first.
Mais beaucoup de premiers seront les derniers, et beaucoup de derniers les premiers.
