Mark 14
1 Now the Passover and the Feast of Unleavened Bread were two days away, and the chief priests and the scribes were looking for a way to arrest Jesus secretly and kill him.
ⲁ̅ⲛⲉⲣⲉⲡⲡⲁⲥⲭⲁ ⲇⲉ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲡⲉϩⲟⲟⲩ ⲛ̅ⲛ̅ⲁⲑⲁⲃ. ⲛⲁϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲙ̅ⲙⲛ̅ⲛ̅ⲥⲁϩⲟⲟⲩ ⲥⲛⲁⲩ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛⲁⲣⲭⲓⲉⲣⲉⲩⲥ ⲙⲛ̅ⲛⲉⲅⲣⲁⲙⲙⲁⲧⲉⲩⲥ ⲛⲉⲩⲕⲱⲧⲉ ⲛ̅ⲥⲁⲑⲉ ⲛ̅ϭⲟⲡϥ̅ ϩⲛ̅ⲟⲩⲕⲣⲟϥ ⲛ̅ⲥⲉⲙⲟⲟⲩⲧϥ̅
2 But they said, “Not during the feast, otherwise there will be a riot among the people.”
ⲃ̅ⲁⲩϫⲟⲟⲥ ⲇⲉ ϫⲉ ϩⲙ̅ⲡϣⲁ ⲁⲛ ϫⲉ ⲛ̅ⲛⲉⲩϣⲧⲟⲣⲧⲣ̅ ϣⲱⲡⲉ ϩⲙ̅ⲡⲗⲁⲟⲥ
3 Meanwhile Jesus was in Bethany, reclining at the table in the house of Simon the leper, and a woman came with an alabaster jar of very expensive ointment made of pure nard. She broke the alabaster jar and poured the ointment on his head.
ⲅ̅ⲁⲩⲱ ⲉⲣⲉⲓ̅ⲥ̅ ϩⲛ̅ⲃⲏⲑⲁⲛⲓⲁ ⲉϥⲛⲏϫ ϩⲙ̅ⲡⲏⲓ̈ ⲛ̅ⲥⲓⲙⲱⲛ ⲡⲉⲧⲥⲟⲃϩ̅ ⲁⲥⲉ͡ⲓ ⲛ̅ϭⲓⲟⲩⲥϩⲓⲙⲉ ⲉⲣⲉⲟⲩⲁⲗⲁⲃⲁⲥⲧⲣⲟⲛ ⲛ̅ⲥⲟϭⲛ̅ ⲛ̅ⲧⲟⲟⲧⲥ̅ ⲛ̅ⲛⲁⲣⲇⲟⲥ ⲉϥⲥⲟⲧⲡ̅ ⲉⲛⲁϣⲉⲥⲟⲩⲛ̅ⲧⲥ̅ ⲁⲥⲧⲁϩⲧⲁⲗⲁⲃⲁⲥⲧⲣⲟⲛ ⲇⲉ ⲁⲥⲡⲁϩⲧⲥ̅ ⲉϫⲛ̅ⲧⲉϥⲁⲡⲉ.
4 But some were expressing indignation to one another, saying, “Why has this ointment been wasted?
ⲇ̅ⲁϩⲟⲓ̈ⲛⲉ ⲇⲉ ϭⲛⲁⲧ ⲉⲩϫⲱ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟⲥ ⲛ̅ⲛⲉⲩⲉⲣⲏⲩ ϫⲉ ⲉⲧⲃⲉⲟⲩ ⲡⲉⲓ̈ⲥⲟϭⲛ̅ ⲁⲩⲧⲁⲕⲟϥ
5 It could have been sold for more than three hundred denarii, and the money could have been given to the poor.” So they began scolding her.
ⲉ̅ⲛⲉⲩⲉϣⲧⲁⲁϥ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲁϩⲟⲩⲟ ⲉϣⲙⲧ̅ϣⲉ ⲛ̅ⲥⲁⲧⲉⲉⲣⲉ ⲛ̅ⲥⲉⲧⲁⲁⲩ ⲛⲛ̅ϩⲏⲕⲉ. ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛⲉⲩϭⲟⲛⲧ ⲉⲣⲟⲥ.
6 But Jesus said, “Leave her alone. Why are you causing trouble for her? She has done a good deed to me.
ⲋ̅ⲓ̅ⲥ̅ ⲇⲉ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲛⲁⲩ ϫⲉ ⲁⲗⲱⲧⲛ̅ ϩⲁⲣⲟⲥ ⲉⲧⲃⲉⲟⲩ ⲧⲉⲧⲛ̅ⲟⲩⲉϩϩⲓⲥⲉ ⲉⲣⲟⲥ ⲟⲩϩⲱⲃ ⲉⲛⲁⲛⲟⲩϥ ⲡⲉ ⲛ̅ⲧⲁⲥⲁⲁϥ ⲛⲁⲓ̈.
7 For you always have the poor with you, and you can do good to them whenever you want, but you will not always have me.
ⲍ̅ⲛ̅ϩⲏⲕⲉ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲛⲙ̅ⲙⲏⲧⲛ̅ ⲟⲩⲟⲓ̈ϣ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲉⲧⲉⲧⲛ̅ϣⲁⲛⲣ̅ϩⲛⲏⲧⲛ̅ ⲉⲧⲉⲧⲛ̅ⲉϣⲣ̅ⲡⲉⲧⲛⲁⲛⲟⲩϥ ⲛⲁⲩ ⲟⲩⲟⲓ̈ϣ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲁⲛⲟⲕ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲉⲓ̈ⲛⲁϭⲱ ⲁⲛ ⲛⲙ̅ⲙⲏⲧⲛ̅ ⲟⲩⲟⲉⲓϣ ⲛⲓⲙ.
8 She has done what she could; she has anointed my body beforehand to prepare me for burial.
ⲏ̅ⲡⲉⲛⲧⲁϥⲣ̅ⲁⲧⲟⲟⲧⲥ̅ ⲁⲥⲁⲁϥ ⲁⲥⲣ̅ϣⲟⲣⲡ̅ ⲉⲧⲉϩⲥ̅ⲡⲁⲥⲱⲙⲁ ⲛ̅ⲥⲟϭⲛ̅ ⲉⲡⲕⲟⲟⲥⲧ
9 Truly I say to you, wherever this gospel is preached in the whole world, what this woman has done will also be spoken of as a memorial to her.”
ⲑ̅ϩⲁⲙⲏⲛ ⲇⲉ ϯϫⲱ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟⲥ ⲛⲏⲧⲛ̅ ϫⲉ ⲡⲙⲁ ⲉⲧⲟⲩⲛⲁⲧⲁϣⲉⲟⲓ̈ϣ ⲙ̅ⲡⲉⲓ̈ⲉⲩⲁⲅⲅⲉⲗⲓⲟⲛ ⲛ̅ϩⲏⲧϥ̅ ϩⲙ̅ⲡⲕⲟⲥⲙⲟⲥ ⲧⲏⲣϥ̅ ⲥⲉⲛⲁϣⲁϫⲉ ⲉⲡⲉⲛⲧⲁⲧⲁⲓ̈ ⲁⲁϥ ⲉⲩⲣ̅ⲡⲙⲉⲉⲩⲉ ⲛⲁⲥ.
10 Then Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve, went to the chief priests to deliver Jesus up to them.
ⲓ̅ⲁⲩⲱ ⲓ̈ⲟⲩⲇⲁⲥ ⲡⲓⲥⲕⲁⲣⲓⲱⲧⲏⲥ ⲟⲩⲁ ϩⲙ̅ⲡⲙⲛⲧ̅ⲥⲛⲟⲟⲩⲥ ⲁϥⲃⲱⲕ ⲉⲣⲁⲧⲟⲩ ⲛ̅ⲛ̅ⲁⲣⲭⲓⲉⲣⲉⲩⲥ ϫⲉ ⲉϥⲉⲡⲁⲣⲁⲇⲓⲇⲟⲩ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟϥ ⲛⲁⲩ.
11 When they heard why he had come, they were glad and promised to give him money. So he began looking for a way to betray Jesus at an opportune time.
ⲓ̅ⲁ̅ⲛ̅ⲧⲟⲟⲩ ⲇⲉ ⲛ̅ⲧⲉⲣⲟⲩⲥⲱⲧⲙ̅ ⲁⲩⲣⲁϣⲉ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁⲩⲉⲣⲏⲧ ⲛ̅ϩⲉⲛϩⲟⲙⲛ̅ⲧ ⲉⲧⲁⲁⲩ ⲛⲁϥ. ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁϥⲕⲱⲧⲉ ⲛ̅ⲥⲁⲟⲩⲉⲩⲕⲁⲓⲣⲓⲁ ⲉⲧⲃⲉⲑⲉ ⲛ̅ⲧⲁⲁϥ ⲉⲧⲟⲟⲧⲟⲩ.
12 On the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread, when the Passover lamb is sacrificed, Jesus' disciples said to him, “Where do yoʋ want us to go and make preparations for yoʋ to eat the Passover?”
ⲓ̅ⲃ̅ⲁⲩⲱ ϩⲙ̅ⲡϣⲟⲣⲡ ⲛ̅ϩⲟⲟⲩ ⲛ̅ⲁⲧⲑⲁⲃ. ⲛ̅ⲧⲉⲣⲟⲩϣⲁⲁⲧⲡ̅ⲡⲁⲥⲭⲁ ⲡⲉϫⲉⲛⲉϥⲙⲁⲑⲏⲧⲏⲥ ⲛⲁϥ ϫⲉ ⲉⲕⲟⲩⲉϣⲧⲉⲛⲃⲱⲕ ⲉⲧⲱⲛ ⲉⲥⲃ̅ⲧⲉⲡⲡⲁⲥⲭⲁ ⲛⲁⲕ ϫⲉ ⲉⲕⲉⲟⲩⲟⲙϥ
13 So he sent two of his disciples and said to them, “Go into the city, and a man carrying a jug of water will meet you. Follow him.
ⲓ̅ⲅ̅ⲁϥϫⲉⲩⲥⲛⲁⲩ ⲇⲉ ⲛ̅ⲛⲉϥⲙⲁⲑⲏⲧⲏⲥ ⲉϥϫⲱ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟⲥ ⲛⲁⲩ ϫⲉ ⲃⲱⲕ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ̈ ⲉⲧⲡⲟⲗⲓⲥ ⲁⲩⲱ ϥⲛⲁⲧⲱⲙⲛ̅ⲧ ⲉⲣⲱⲧⲛ̅ ⲛ̅ϭⲓⲟⲩⲣⲱⲙⲉ ⲉⲣⲉⲟⲩϣⲟϣⲟⲩ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟⲟⲩ ϩⲓϫⲱϥ ⲟⲩⲁϩⲧⲏⲩⲛ̅ ⲛ̅ⲥⲱϥ
14 Wherever he enters, tell the master of the house, ‘The Teacher asks, “Where is the guest room where I can eat the Passover with my disciples?”’
ⲓ̅ⲇ̅ⲁⲩⲱ ⲡⲙⲁ ⲉⲧϥ̅ⲛⲁⲃⲱⲕ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲛ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ⲁϫⲓⲥ ⲙ̅ⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲙ̅ⲡⲏⲉⲓ ϫⲉ ⲡⲥⲁϩ ⲡⲉ ⲉⲧϫⲱ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲉⲣⲉⲡⲁⲙⲁ ⲛ̅ϭⲟⲓ̈ⲗⲉ ⲧⲱⲛ ⲡⲙⲁ ⲉϯⲛⲁⲟⲩⲱⲙ ⲡ̅ⲡⲁⲥⲭⲁ ⲙⲛ̅ⲛⲁⲙⲁⲑⲏⲧⲏⲥ
15 He will then show you a large upper room, furnished and prepared; make preparations for us there.”
ⲓ̅ⲉ̅ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛ̅ⲧⲟϥ ϥⲛⲁⲧⲥⲁⲃⲱⲧⲛ̅ ⲉⲩⲛⲟϭ ⲙ̅ⲙⲁ ⲛ̅ⲧⲡⲉ ⲉϥⲡⲟⲣϣ̅ ⲉϥⲥⲃ̅ⲧⲱⲧ ⲉⲧⲉⲧⲛ̅ⲛⲁⲥⲟⲃⲧⲉ ⲛⲁⲛ ⲙ̅ⲙⲁⲩ.
16 So his disciples left, went into the city, and found it just as Jesus had told them, and they prepared the Passover.
ⲓ̅ⲋ̅ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁⲩⲙⲟⲟϣⲉ ⲛ̅ϭⲓⲛⲉϥⲙⲁⲑⲏⲧⲏⲥ ⲁⲩⲃⲱⲕ ⲉⲧⲡⲟⲗⲓⲥ ⲁⲩϩⲉ ⲉⲡⲙⲁ ⲕⲁⲧⲁⲑⲉ ⲉⲛⲧⲁϥϫⲟⲟⲥ ⲛⲁⲩ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁⲩⲥⲟⲃⲧⲉ ⲙⲡ̅ⲡⲁⲥⲭⲁ.
17 When it was evening, Jesus came with the twelve.
ⲓ̅ⲍ̅ⲛ̅ⲧⲉⲣⲉⲣⲟⲩϩⲉ ⲇⲉ ϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲁϥⲉⲓ ⲙⲛ̅ⲡⲉϥⲙⲛⲧ̅ⲥⲛⲟⲟⲩⲥ
18 As they were reclining at the table and eating, Jesus said, “Truly I say to you, one of you who is eating with me will betray me.”
ⲓ̅ⲏ̅ⲁⲩⲱ ⲉⲩⲛⲏϫ ⲉⲩⲟⲩⲱⲙ ⲡⲉϫⲉⲓ̅ⲥ̅ ⲛⲁⲩ ϫⲉ ϩⲁⲙⲏⲛ ϯϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ⲛⲏⲧⲛ̅ ϫⲉ ⲟⲩⲛ̅ⲟⲩⲁ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲛ̅ϩⲏⲧⲧⲏⲩⲧⲛ̅ ⲛⲉⲧⲟⲩⲱⲙ ⲛⲙ̅ⲙⲁⲓ̈ ⲛⲁⲡⲁⲣⲁⲇⲓⲇⲟⲩ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟⲓ̈.
19 So they began to be sorrowful and to say one after another, “Surely not I?” and, “Surely not I?”
ⲓ̅ⲑ̅ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁⲩⲁⲣⲭⲓ ⲛ̅ⲙ̅ⲕⲁϩ ⲛ̅ϩⲏⲧ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲉϫⲟⲟⲥ ⲛⲁϥ ⲟⲩⲁ ⲟⲩⲁ ϫⲉ ⲙⲏ ⲁⲛⲟⲕ ⲡⲉ
20 Jesus answered them, “It is one of the twelve, one who is dipping bread with me into the dish.
ⲕ̅ⲛ̅ⲧⲟϥ ⲇⲉ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲛⲁⲩ ϫⲉ ⲟⲩⲁ ⲡⲉ ⲙⲡ̅ⲙⲛⲧ̅ⲥⲛⲟⲟⲩⲥ ⲡⲉⲧⲛⲁⲥⲡ̅ⲧⲟⲟⲧϥ̅ ⲛⲙ̅ⲙⲁⲓ̈ ϩⲛ̅ⲧϫⲏⲏⲥ
21 The Son of Man indeed goes just as it is written of him, but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed. It would have been better for that man if he had not been born.”
ⲕ̅ⲁ̅ϫⲉ ⲡϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲙⲉⲛ ⲙ̅ⲡⲣⲱⲙⲉ ⲛⲁⲃⲱⲕ ⲕⲁⲧⲁⲑⲉ ⲛ̅ⲧⲁⲩⲥϩⲁⲓ̈ ⲉⲧⲃⲏⲏⲧϥ. ⲟⲩⲟⲓ̈ ⲇⲉ ⲙ̅ⲡⲣⲱⲙⲉ ⲉⲧⲙ̅ⲙⲁⲩ ⲡⲉⲧⲟⲩⲛⲁⲡⲁⲣⲁⲇⲓⲇⲟⲩ ⲙ̅ⲡϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲙ̅ⲡⲣⲱⲙⲉ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓⲧⲟⲟⲧϥ̅. ⲛⲉⲛⲁⲛⲟⲩⲥ ⲙ̅ⲡⲣⲱⲙⲉ ⲉⲧⲙ̅ⲙⲁⲩ ⲉⲙⲡⲟⲩϫⲡⲟϥ.
22 As they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when he had blessed it, he broke it, gave it to them, and said, “Take and eat this bread; this is my body.”
ⲕ̅ⲃ̅ⲁⲩⲱ ⲉⲩⲟⲩⲱⲙ ⲁϥϫⲓ ⲛ̅ⲟⲩⲟⲓ̈ⲕ ⲁϥⲥⲙⲟⲩ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ⲁϥⲡⲟϣϥ̅ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁϥⲧⲁⲁϥ ⲛⲁⲩ ⲉϥϫⲱ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ϫⲓⲧϥ̅ ⲡⲁⲓ̈ ⲡⲉ ⲡⲁⲥⲱⲙⲁ.
23 Then he took the cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, and they all drank of it.
ⲕ̅ⲅ̅ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛ̅ⲧⲉⲣⲉϥϫⲓ ⲛ̅ⲟⲩⲁⲡⲟⲧ ⲁϥϣⲡ̅ϩⲙⲟ̅ⲧ ⲉϫⲱϥ ⲁϥⲧⲁⲁϥ ⲛⲁⲩ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁⲩⲥⲱ ⲧⲏⲣⲟⲩ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲛ̅ϩⲏⲧϥ̅.
24 He said to them, “This is my blood of the new covenant, which is poured out for many.
ⲕ̅ⲇ̅ⲁⲩⲱ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲛⲁⲩ ϫⲉ ⲡⲁⲓ̈ ⲡⲉ ⲡⲁⲥⲛⲟϥ ⲛ̅ⲧⲇⲓⲁⲑⲏⲕⲏ ⲉⲧⲟⲩⲛⲁⲡⲟⲛϥ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲉϫⲛ̅ϩⲁϩ.
25 Truly I say to you, I will certainly not drink again from the fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it anew in the kingdom of God.”
ⲕ̅ⲉ̅ϩⲁⲙⲏⲛ ⲇⲉ ϯϫⲱ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟⲥ ⲛⲏⲧⲛ̅ ϫⲉ ⲛ̅ⲛⲁⲥⲱ ϫⲓⲛ ⲙ̅ⲡⲉⲓ̈ⲛⲁⲩ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲙ̅ⲡⲅⲉⲛⲏⲙⲁ ⲛ̅ⲧⲃⲱ ⲛⲉⲗⲟⲟⲗⲉ ϣⲁⲡⲉϩⲟⲟⲩ ⲉⲧⲙ̅ⲙⲁⲩ. ϩⲟⲧⲁⲛ ⲉⲓ̈ϣⲁⲛⲥⲟⲟϥ ⲉϥⲟ ⲃ̅ⲃⲣ̅ⲣⲉ ϩⲛ̅ⲧⲙⲛ̅ⲧⲉⲣⲟ ⲙ̅ⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ.
26 And after singing a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.
ⲕ̅ⲋ̅ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛ̅ⲧⲉⲣⲟⲩⲥⲙⲟⲩ ⲁⲩⲉ͡ⲓ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲉⲡⲧⲟⲟⲩ ⲛⲛ̅ϫⲟⲉⲓⲧ
27 Then Jesus said to them, “All of you will fall away because of me this night. For it is written, ‘I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered.’
ⲕ̅ⲍ̅ⲁⲩⲱ ⲡⲉϫⲉⲓ̅ⲥ̅ ⲛⲁⲩ ϫⲉ ⲛ̅ⲧⲱⲧⲛ̅ ⲧⲏⲣⲧⲛ̅ ⲧⲉⲧⲛ̅ⲛⲁⲥⲕⲁⲛⲇⲁⲗⲓⲍⲉ ϫⲉ ϥⲥⲏϩ ϫⲉ ϯⲛⲁⲡⲁⲧⲁⲥⲥⲉ ⲙ̅ⲡϣⲱⲥ. ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛⲉⲥⲟⲟⲩ ⲥⲉⲛⲁϫⲱⲱⲣⲉ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ.
28 However, after I have been raised up, I will go ahead of you to Galilee.”
ⲕ̅ⲏ̅ⲙⲛ̅ⲛ̅ⲥⲁⲧⲣⲁⲧⲱⲟⲩⲛ ⲇⲉ ϯⲛⲁⲣ̅ϣⲟⲣⲡ̅ ⲉⲣⲱⲧⲛ̅ ⲉⲧⲅⲁⲗⲓⲗⲁⲓⲁ.
29 But Peter said to him, “Even if everyone else falls away, I will not.”
ⲕ̅ⲑ̅ⲡⲉⲧⲣⲟⲥ ⲇⲉ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲛⲁϥ ϫⲉ ⲉϣϫⲉⲥⲉⲛⲁⲥⲕⲁⲛⲇⲁⲗⲓⲍⲉ ⲧⲏⲣⲟⲩ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲁⲛⲟⲕ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟⲛ.
30 Jesus said to him, “Truly I say to yoʋ that today, on this night, before a rooster crows twice, yoʋ will deny me three times.”
ⲗ̅ⲡⲉϫⲉⲓ̅ⲥ̅ ⲛⲁⲩ ϫⲉ ϩⲁⲙⲏⲛ ϯϫⲱ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟⲥ ⲛⲁⲕ ϫⲉ ⲛ̅ⲧⲟⲕ ⲙ̅ⲡⲟⲟⲩ ϩⲛ̅ⲧⲉⲓ̈ⲟⲩϣⲏ ⲉⲙⲡⲁⲧⲉⲟⲩⲁⲗⲉⲕⲧⲱⲣ ⲙⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲛ̅ⲥⲉⲡⲥ̅ⲛⲁⲩ ⲕⲛⲁⲁⲡⲁⲣⲛⲁ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟⲓ̈ ⲛ̅ϣⲙⲛ̅ⲧⲥⲱⲱⲡʾ
31 But Peter said all the more vehemently, “Even if I must die with yoʋ, I will certainly not deny yoʋ.” And they all said the same thing.
ⲗ̅ⲁ̅ⲛ̅ⲧⲟϥ ⲇⲉ ⲁϥⲣ̅ϩⲁϩ ⲛ̅ϣⲁϫⲉ ⲉϥϫⲱ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲉⲥⲉ͡ⲓ ⲉⲧⲣⲁⲙⲟⲩ ⲛⲙ̅ⲙⲁⲕ ⲛ̅ϯⲛⲁⲁⲣⲛⲁ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟⲕ ⲁⲛ. ϩⲟⲙⲟⲓⲱⲥ ⲇⲉ ⲛ̅ⲕⲉⲙⲁⲑⲏⲧⲏⲥ ⲧⲏⲣⲟⲩ ⲁⲩϫⲟⲟⲥ
32 Then they went to a place called Gethsemane, and Jesus said to his disciples, “Sit here while I go and pray.”
ⲗ̅ⲃ̅ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁⲩⲉ͡ⲓ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ̈ ⲉⲩϭⲱⲙ ⲉⲡⲉϥⲣⲁⲛ ⲡⲉ ⲅⲉⲑⲥⲏⲙⲁⲛⲉⲓ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲛ̅ⲛⲉϥⲙⲁⲑⲏⲧⲏⲥ ϫⲉ ϩⲙⲟⲟⲥ ⲛⲏⲧⲛ̅ ⲙ̅ⲡⲉⲓ̈ⲙⲁ ϣⲁⲛϯϣⲗⲏⲗ
33 He took with him Peter, James, and John, and began to be greatly disturbed and distressed.
ⲗ̅ⲅ̅ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁϥϫⲓ ⲙ̅ⲡⲉⲧⲣⲟⲥ ⲙⲛ̅ⲓ̈ⲁⲕⲱⲃⲟⲥ ⲙⲛ̅ⲓ̈ⲱϩⲁⲛⲛⲏⲥ ⲛⲙ̅ⲙⲁϥ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁϥⲁⲣⲭⲓ ⲛ̅ϣⲧⲟⲣⲧⲣ̅ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲉⲧⲱⲕⲙ̅ ⲛ̅ϩⲏⲧ.
34 He said to them, “My soul is very sorrowful, even to the point of death; stay here and keep watch.”
ⲗ̅ⲇ̅ⲁⲩⲱ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲛⲁⲩ ϫⲉ ⲧⲁⲯⲩⲭⲏ ⲗⲩⲡⲓ ϣⲁϩⲣⲁⲓ̈ ⲉⲡⲙⲟⲩ ϭⲱ ⲛⲏⲧⲛ̅ ⲙ̅ⲡⲉⲓ̈ⲙⲁ ⲛ̅ⲧⲉⲧⲛ̅ⲣⲟⲉⲓⲥ.
35 Going a little farther, he fell on the ground and prayed that, if it were possible, the hour might pass from him.
ⲗ̅ⲉ̅ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛ̅ⲧⲉⲣⲉϥⲃⲱⲕ ⲉⲑⲏ ⲛ̅ⲟⲩⲕⲟⲩⲉ͡ⲓ. ⲁϥⲡⲁϩⲧϥ̅ ⲉϫⲙ̅ⲡⲕⲁϩ ⲁϥϣⲗⲏⲗ. ϫⲉⲕⲁⲥ ⲉϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲟⲩⲛ̅ϭⲟⲙ ⲛ̅ⲧⲉⲧⲉⲓ̈ⲟⲩⲛⲟⲩ ⲥⲁⲁⲧϥ̅.
36 He said, “Abba, Father, all things are possible for yoʋ. Take this cup away from me; nevertheless, not what I will, but what yoʋ will.”
ⲗ̅ⲋ̅ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛⲉϥϫⲱ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲁⲃⲃⲁ ⲡⲓⲱⲧ ⲟⲩⲛ̅ϭⲟⲙ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟⲕ ⲉϩⲱⲃ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲙⲁⲣⲉⲡⲉⲓ̈ⲁⲡⲟⲧ ⲥⲁⲁⲧ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲛ̅ⲑⲉ ⲁⲛ ⲁⲛⲟⲕ ⲉϯⲟⲩⲁϣⲥ̅.
37 Then he came and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, “Simon, are yoʋ sleeping? Could yoʋ not keep watch for one hour?
ⲗ̅ⲍ̅ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁϥⲉⲓ ⲁϥϩⲉ ⲉⲣⲟⲟⲩ ⲉⲩⲟⲃϣ. ⲁⲩⲱ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲙ̅ⲡⲉⲧⲣⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲥⲓⲙⲱⲛ ⲉⲕⲛ̅ⲕⲟⲧⲕ̅ ⲙ̅ⲡⲉⲕⲉϣⲣⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲛ̅ⲟⲩⲟⲩⲛⲟⲩ ⲛ̅ⲟⲩⲱⲧ.
38 Keep watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
ⲗ̅ⲏ̅ⲣⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲛ̅ⲧⲉⲧⲛ̅ϣⲗⲏⲗ ϫⲉⲕⲁⲥ ⲉⲛⲛⲉⲧⲛ̅ⲃⲱⲕ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲛ ⲉⲡⲓⲣⲁⲥⲙⲟⲥ ⲡⲉⲡ̅ⲛ̅ⲁ̅ ⲙⲉⲛ ⲣⲟⲟⲩⲧ ⲧⲥⲁⲣⲝ ⲟⲩⲁⲥⲑⲉⲛⲏⲥ ⲧⲉ.
39 Once again he went away and prayed the same prayer.
ⲗ̅ⲑ̅ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛ̅ⲧⲉⲣⲉϥⲃⲱⲕ ⲟⲛ ⲁϥϣⲗⲏⲗ ⲉϥⲧⲁⲩⲟ ⲙ̅ⲡⲓϣⲁϫⲉ ⲛ̅ⲟⲩⲱⲧʾ
40 When he returned, he found them sleeping again, for their eyes were heavy, and they did not know what to say in response.
ⲙ̅ⲛ̅ⲧⲉⲣⲉϥⲉⲓ ⲟⲛ ϣⲁⲣⲟⲟⲩ ⲁϥϩⲉ ⲉⲣⲟⲟⲩ ⲉⲩⲟⲃϣ. ⲛⲉⲣⲉⲛⲉⲩⲃⲁⲗ ⲅⲁⲣ ϩⲟⲣϣ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛⲉⲩⲥⲟⲟⲩⲛ ⲁⲛ ϫⲉ ⲉⲩⲛⲁϫⲟⲟⲥ ⲛⲁϥ ϫⲉ ⲟⲩ.
41 Then he came a third time and said to them, “Sleep on now and take your rest! That is enough; the hour has come. Behold, the Son of Man is delivered up into the hands of sinners.
ⲙ̅ⲁ̅ⲁϥⲉⲓ ⲟⲛ ⲙ̅ⲡⲙⲉϩϣⲙⲧ̅ⲥⲱⲱⲡ. ⲁⲩⲱ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲛⲁⲩ ϫⲉ ⲛ̅ⲕⲟⲧⲕ̅ ⲧⲉⲛⲟⲩ ⲛ̅ⲧⲉⲧⲛ̅ⲙ̅ⲧⲟⲛ ⲙ̅ⲙⲱⲧⲛ̅ ⲁⲡϩⲱⲃ ⲉ͡ⲓ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲁⲧⲉⲩⲛⲟⲩ ⲉ͡ⲓ ⲉⲓⲥϩⲏⲏⲧⲉ ⲥⲉⲛⲁⲡⲁⲣⲁⲇⲓⲇⲟⲩ ⲙ̅ⲡϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲙ̅ⲡⲣⲱⲙⲉ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ̈ ⲉⲧⲟⲟⲧⲟⲩ ⲛ̅ⲣ̅ⲣⲉϥⲣ̅ⲛⲟⲃⲉ.
42 Rise, let us go! Behold, my betrayer has drawn near.”
ⲙ̅ⲃ̅ⲧⲟⲩⲛ̅ⲧⲏⲩⲧⲛ̅ ⲙⲁⲣⲟⲛ ⲉⲓⲥϩⲏⲏⲧⲉ ⲁϥϩⲱⲛ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲛ ⲛ̅ϭⲓⲡⲉⲧⲛⲁⲡⲁⲣⲁⲇⲓⲇⲟⲩ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟⲓ̈.
43 Immediately, as he was still speaking, Judas arrived, who was one of the twelve. With him was a large crowd with swords and clubs, sent by the chief priests, the scribes, and the elders.
ⲙ̅ⲅ̅ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛ̅ⲧⲉⲩⲛⲟⲩ ⲉⲧⲓ ⲉϥϣⲁϫⲉ. ⲁϥⲉ͡ⲓ ⲛ̅ϭⲓⲓ̈ⲟⲩⲇⲁⲥ ⲟⲩⲁ ϩⲙ̅ⲡⲙⲛⲧⲥ̅ⲛⲟⲟⲩⲥ ⲉⲣⲉⲟⲩⲙⲏⲏϣⲉ ⲛⲙ̅ⲙⲁϥ ⲛⲙ̅ϩⲉⲛⲥⲏϥⲉ ⲁⲩⲱ ϩⲉⲛϭⲉⲣⲱⲃ ⲛ̅ⲧⲟⲟⲧⲟⲩ ⲛ̅ⲛⲁⲣⲭⲓⲉⲣⲉⲩⲥ ⲛⲙ̅ⲛⲉⲅⲣⲁⲙⲙⲁⲧⲉⲩⲥ ⲙⲛ̅ⲛⲉⲡⲣⲉⲥⲃⲩⲧⲉⲣⲟⲥ.
44 Now his betrayer had given them a signal, saying, “Whomever I kiss, he is the one; arrest him and lead him away under guard.”
ⲙ̅ⲇ̅ⲡⲉⲛⲧⲁϥⲡⲁⲣⲁⲇⲓⲇⲟⲩ ⲇⲉ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟϥ ⲁϥϯ ⲛⲁⲩ ⲛ̅ⲟⲩⲙⲁⲓ̈ⲛ ϫⲉ ⲡⲉϯⲛⲁϯⲡⲓ ⲉⲣⲱϥ ⲛ̅ⲧⲟϥ ⲡⲉ ⲁⲙⲁϩⲧⲉ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟϥ ⲛ̅ⲧⲉⲧⲛ̅ϫⲓⲧϥ̅ ϩⲛ̅ⲟⲩⲱⲣϫ̅
45 When Judas came, he immediately went up to Jesus and said to him, “Rabbi! Rabbi!” And he kissed him.
ⲙ̅ⲉ̅ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛ̅ⲧⲉⲣⲉϥⲉ͡ⲓ ⲛ̅ⲧⲉⲩⲛⲟⲩ ⲁϥϯⲡⲉϥⲟⲩⲟⲓ̈ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲛ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ⲉϥϫⲱ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲭⲁⲓⲣⲉ ϩⲣⲁⲃⲃⲉⲓ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁϥϯⲡⲓ ⲉⲣⲱϥ.
46 Then they took hold of Jesus and arrested him.
ⲙ̅ⲋ̅ⲛ̅ⲧⲟⲟⲩ ⲇⲉ ⲁⲩⲛ̅ⲧⲟⲟⲧⲟⲩ ⲉϫⲱϥ ⲁⲩⲁⲙⲁϩⲧⲉ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟϥ
47 But one of the bystanders drew his sword and struck the servant of the high priest, cutting off his ear.
ⲙ̅ⲍ̅ⲟⲩⲁ ⲇⲉ ⲛ̅ⲛⲉⲧⲁϩⲉⲣⲁⲧⲟⲩ ⲁϥⲧⲉⲕⲙ̅ⲧⲉϥⲥⲏϥⲉ ⲁϥⲣⲉϩⲧ̅ⲡϩⲙ̅ϩⲁⲗ ⲙ̅ⲡⲁⲣⲭⲓⲉⲣⲉⲩⲥ ⲁϥⲥⲗⲡⲡⲉϥⲙⲁⲁϫⲉ
48 Then Jesus said to them, “Have you come out to arrest me with swords and clubs as you would against a robber?
ⲙ̅ⲏ̅ⲁϥⲟⲩⲱϣⲃ̅ ⲇⲉ ⲛ̅ϭⲓⲓ̅ⲥ̅ ⲉϥϫⲱ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟⲥ ⲛⲁⲩ ϫⲉ ⲛ̅ⲧⲁⲧⲉⲧⲛ̅ⲉ͡ⲓ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲉϭⲟⲡⲧ̅ ⲛ̅ⲑⲉ ⲛ̅ⲟⲩⲥⲟⲟⲛⲉ. ⲙⲛ̅ϩⲉⲛⲥⲏϥⲉ ⲁⲩⲱ ϩⲉⲛϭⲉⲣⲟⲟⲃ
49 I was with you daily, teaching in the temple courts, and you did not arrest me. But these things are happening so that the Scriptures may be fulfilled.”
ⲙ̅ⲑ̅ⲛⲉⲓ̈ϩⲁϩⲧⲉⲧⲏⲩⲧⲛ̅ ⲙ̅ⲙⲏⲛⲉ ϩⲙ̅ⲡⲉⲣⲡⲉ ⲉⲓ̈ϯⲥⲃⲱ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲙ̅ⲡⲉⲧⲛ̅ⲁⲙⲁϩⲧⲉ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟⲓ̈ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ϫⲉⲕⲁⲥ ⲉⲩⲉϫⲱⲕ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲛ̅ϭⲓⲛⲉⲅⲣⲁⲫⲏ
50 Then they all the disciples left him and fled.
ⲛ̅ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛ̅ⲧⲉⲣⲟⲩⲕⲁⲁϥ ⲧⲏⲣⲟⲩ ⲁⲩⲡⲱⲧ
51 Now a certain young man was following Jesus, wearing nothing but a linen cloth. The young men tried to seize him,
ⲛ̅ⲁ̅ⲟⲩϩⲣ̅ϣⲓⲣⲉ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲉϥⲟⲩⲏϩ ⲛ̅ⲥⲱϥ ⲉϥϭⲟⲟⲗⲉ ⲛ̅ⲟⲩⲥⲓⲛⲇⲱⲛ. ⲁⲩⲁⲙⲁϩⲧⲉ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟϥ
52 but he left the linen cloth behind and ran away from them naked.
ⲛ̅ⲃ̅ⲛ̅ⲧⲟϥ ⲇⲉ ⲁϥⲕⲁⲧⲥⲓⲛⲇⲱⲛ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲛ̅ⲥⲱⲟⲩ ⲁϥⲡⲱⲧ ⲉϥⲕⲏⲕⲁϩⲏⲩ.
53 Then they led Jesus away to the high priest, and all the chief priests, the elders, and the scribes were assembled together with him.
ⲛ̅ⲅ̅ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁⲩϫⲓ ⲛ̅ⲓ̅ⲥ̅ ⲉⲣⲁⲧϥ̅ ⲙ̅ⲡⲁⲣⲭⲓⲉⲣⲉⲩⲥ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁⲩⲥⲱⲟⲩϩ ⲉⲣⲁⲧϥ̅ ⲛ̅ϭⲓⲛⲁⲣⲭⲓⲉⲣⲉⲩⲥ ⲧⲏⲣⲟⲩ ⲙⲛ̅ⲛⲉⲡⲣⲉⲥⲃⲩⲧⲉⲣⲟⲥ ⲙⲛ̅ⲛⲉⲅⲣⲁⲙⲙⲁⲧⲉⲩⲥ.
54 Peter had followed Jesus at a distance, right into the courtyard of the high priest. There he sat with the officers, warming himself in the light of the fire.
ⲛ̅ⲇ̅ⲁⲩⲱ ⲡⲉⲧⲣⲟⲥ ⲛⲉϥⲟⲩⲏϩ ⲛ̅ⲥⲱϥ ⲙ̅ⲡⲟⲩⲉ. ϣⲁϩⲟⲩⲛ ⲉⲧⲁⲩⲗⲏ ⲙ̅ⲡⲁⲣⲭⲓⲉⲣⲉⲩⲥ. ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛⲉϥϩⲙⲟⲟⲥ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ̈ ⲙⲛ̅ⲛ̅ϩⲩⲡⲏⲣⲉⲧⲏⲥ ⲉϥⲑⲙⲟ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟϥ ϩⲁϩⲧⲉⲡⲕⲱϩⲧ
55 Now the chief priests and the whole Sanhedrin were seeking testimony against Jesus so that they could put him to death, but they did not find any.
ⲛ̅ⲉ̅ⲛⲁⲣⲭⲓⲉⲣⲉⲩⲥ ⲇⲉ ⲙⲛ̅ⲡⲥⲩⲛϩⲉⲇⲣⲓⲟⲛ ⲧⲏⲣϥ̅ ⲛⲉⲩⲕⲱⲧⲉ ⲛ̅ⲥⲁⲟⲩⲙⲛ̅ⲧⲙⲛ̅ⲧⲣⲉ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲛ ⲉⲓ̅ⲥ̅ ⲉⲧⲣⲉⲩⲙⲟⲟⲩⲧϥ̅. ⲁⲩⲱ ⲙ̅ⲡⲟⲩϩⲉ ⲉⲟⲩⲟⲛ.
56 For many were giving false testimony against him, but their testimonies did not agree.
ⲛ̅ⲋ̅ⲁⲩⲙⲏⲏϣⲉ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲣ̅ⲙⲛ̅ⲧⲣⲉ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ⲛ̅ⲛⲟⲩϫ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛⲉⲩⲙⲛ̅ⲧⲙⲛ̅ⲧⲣⲉ ⲛⲉⲩϣⲏϣ ⲁⲛ ⲛⲙ̅ⲛⲉⲩⲉⲣⲏⲩ.
57 Then some stood up and gave false testimony against him, declaring,
ⲛ̅ⲍ̅ϩⲟⲓ̈ⲛⲉ ⲇⲉ ⲁⲩⲧⲱⲟⲩⲛ ⲁⲩⲣ̅ⲙⲛ̅ⲧⲣⲉ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ⲛ̅ⲛⲟⲩϫ ⲉⲩϫⲱ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟⲥ
58 “We heard him say, ‘I will destroy this man-made temple, and in three days I will build another not made by man.’”
ⲛ̅ⲏ̅ϫⲉ ⲁⲛⲟⲛ ⲁⲛⲥⲱⲧⲙ̅ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ⲉϥϫⲱ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲁⲛⲟⲕ ϯⲛⲁⲃⲱⲗ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲙ̅ⲡⲉⲓ̈ⲣ̅ⲡⲉ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟⲩⲛⲅ̅ ⲛ̅ϭⲓϫ ⲁⲩⲱ ϯⲛⲁⲕⲉⲧⲕⲉⲟⲩⲁ ⲛ̅ⲁⲧⲙⲟⲩⲛⲅ̅ ⲛ̅ϭⲓϫ ϩⲛ̅ϣⲟⲙⲛ̅ⲧ ⲛ̅ϩⲟⲟⲩ
59 Yet even then their testimony did not agree.
ⲛ̅ⲑ̅ⲁⲩⲱ ϩⲓⲛⲁⲓ̈ ⲟⲛ ⲧⲉⲩⲙⲛ̅ⲧⲙⲛ̅ⲧⲣⲉ ⲛⲉⲥⲥⲙⲟⲛⲧ̅ ⲁⲛ.
60 Then the high priest stood up before them and asked Jesus, “Do yoʋ make no answer? What are these men testifying against yoʋ?”
ⲝ̅ⲁϥⲧⲱⲟⲩⲛ ⲇⲉ ⲛ̅ϭⲓⲡⲁⲣⲭⲓⲉⲣⲉⲩⲥ ϩⲛ̅ⲧⲉⲩⲙⲏⲧⲉ ⲁϥϫⲛⲉⲓ̅ⲥ̅ ⲉϥϫⲱ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟⲥ ⲛⲁϥ ϫⲉ ⲛⲅ̅ⲛⲁϣⲁϫⲉ ⲁⲛ ⲗⲁⲁⲩ ⲁϩⲣⲟⲟⲩ ⲛⲁⲓ̈ ⲥⲉⲣ̅ⲙⲛ̅ⲧⲣⲉ ⲉⲣⲟⲕ.
61 But he was silent and made no answer. Again the high priest asked him, “Are yoʋ the Christ, the Son of the Blessed One?”
ⲝ̅ⲁ̅ⲛ̅ⲧⲟϥ ⲇⲉ ⲁϥⲕⲁⲣⲱϥ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲙ̅ⲡϥ̅ϣⲁϫⲉ ⲗⲁⲁⲩ. ⲡⲁⲣⲭⲓⲉⲣⲉⲩⲥ ⲇⲉ ⲟⲛ ⲁϥϫⲛⲟⲩϥ ⲉϥϫⲱ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟⲥ ⲛⲁϥ ϫⲉ ⲛ̅ⲧⲟⲕ ⲡⲉ ⲡⲉⲭ̅ⲥ̅ ⲡϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲙ̅ⲡⲉⲧⲥⲙⲁⲙⲁⲁⲧ
62 Jesus said, “I am. And you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of Power and coming with the clouds of heaven.”
ⲝ̅ⲃ̅ⲓ̅ⲥ̅ ⲇⲉ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ϫⲉ ⲁⲛⲟⲕ ⲡⲉ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲧⲉⲧⲛ̅ⲛⲁⲛⲁⲩ ⲉⲡϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲙ̅ⲡⲣⲱⲙⲉ ⲉϥϩⲙⲟⲟⲥ ⲛ̅ⲥⲁⲟⲩⲛⲁⲙ ⲛ̅ⲧϭⲟⲙ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲉϥⲛⲏⲩ ϩⲓϫⲛ̅ⲛⲉⲕⲗⲟⲟⲗⲉ ⲛ̅ⲧⲡⲉ.
63 Then the high priest tore his garments and said, “What further need do we have of witnesses?
ⲝ̅ⲅ̅ⲛⲁⲣⲭⲓⲉⲣⲉⲩⲥ ⲇⲉ ⲁⲩⲡⲉϩⲛⲉⲩϩⲟⲓ̈ⲧⲉ ⲉⲩϫⲱ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲁϣ ⲛⲉ ⲛ̅ⲕⲉⲙⲛ̅ⲧⲣⲉ ⲉⲧⲛ̅ⲁϩⲉ ⲛⲁⲩ.
64 You have heard his blasphemy. What seems right to you?” And they all condemned him as deserving death.
ⲝ̅ⲇ̅ⲁⲧⲉⲧⲛ̅ⲥⲱⲧⲙ̅ ⲉⲡⲟⲩⲁ ⲛ̅ⲧⲁϥϫⲟⲟϥ. ⲉⲥⲇⲟⲕⲓ ⲛⲏⲧⲛ̅ ⲉⲟⲩ. ⲛ̅ⲧⲟⲟⲩ ⲇⲉ ⲧⲏⲣⲟⲩ ⲁⲩⲧϭⲁⲓ̈ⲟϥ ϫⲉ ϥⲙ̅ⲡϣⲁ ⲙ̅ⲡⲙⲟⲩ.
65 Then some began to spit on him, to blindfold him, and to beat him, saying to him, “Prophesy!” And the officers kept striking him with the palms of their hands.
ⲝ̅ⲉ̅ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁⲩⲁⲣⲭⲓ ⲛ̅ϭⲓϩⲟⲓ̈ⲛⲉ ⲉⲛⲉϫⲧⲁϥ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲛ ⲉϩⲣⲁϥ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲉϩⲃ̅ⲥⲡⲉϥϩⲟ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲉⲩϯⲕⲗⲯ ⲉϫⲱϥ ⲉⲩϫⲱ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟⲥ ⲛⲁϥ ϫⲉ ⲡⲣⲟⲫⲏⲧⲉⲩⲉ ⲛⲁⲛ. ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛ̅ϩⲩⲡⲏⲣⲉⲧⲏⲥ ⲁⲩϯⲁⲁⲥ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲛ ϩⲙ̅ⲡⲉϥϩⲟ.
66 Now as Peter was in the courtyard below, one of the servant girls of the high priest came.
ⲝ̅ⲋ̅ⲡⲉⲧⲣⲟⲥ ⲇⲉ ⲉϥϩⲣⲁⲓ̈ ϩⲛ̅ⲧⲁⲩⲗⲏ. ⲁⲥⲉ͡ⲓ ⲛ̅ϭⲓⲟⲩⲉ͡ⲓ ⲛ̅ⲛ̅ϩⲙ̅ϩⲁⲗ ⲙ̅ⲡⲁⲣⲭⲓⲉⲣⲉⲩⲥ
67 When she saw Peter warming himself, she looked at him and said, “Yoʋ also were with Jesus of Nazareth.”
ⲝ̅ⲍ̅ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛ̅ⲧⲉⲣⲉⲥⲛⲁⲩ ⲉⲡⲉⲧⲣⲟⲥ ⲉϥⲑⲙⲟ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟϥ ⲁⲥϭⲱϣⲧ̅ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲛ ⲉϩⲣⲁϥ ⲉⲥϫⲱ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟⲥ ⲛⲁϥ ϫⲉ ⲛ̅ⲧⲟⲕ ϩⲱⲱⲕ ⲛⲉⲕϣⲟⲟⲡ ⲛⲙ̅ⲓ̅ⲥ̅ ⲡⲛⲁⲍⲁⲣⲏⲛⲟⲥ.
68 But he denied it, saying, “I neither know nor understand what yoʋ are talking about!” Then he went outside to the gateway, and a rooster crowed.
ⲝ̅ⲏ̅ⲛ̅ⲧⲟϥ ⲇⲉ ⲁϥⲁⲣⲛⲁ ⲉϥϫⲱ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲛ̅ϯⲥⲟⲟⲩⲛ ⲁⲛ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟϥ ⲟⲩⲇⲉ ⲛ̅ϯϭⲛ̅ ⲉⲣⲉϫⲱ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟⲥ ⲁⲛ ϫⲉ ⲟⲩ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁϥⲉ͡ⲓ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲉⲑⲁⲉⲓⲧʾ
69 When the servant girl saw him again, she began saying to the people standing nearby, “This man is one of them.”
ⲝ̅ⲑ̅ⲧϩⲙ̅ϩⲁⲗ ⲇⲉ ⲛ̅ⲧⲉⲣⲉⲥⲛⲁⲩ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ⲡⲉϫⲁⲥ ⲛ̅ⲛⲉⲧⲁϩⲉⲣⲁⲧⲟⲩ ϫⲉ ⲡⲁⲓ̈ ⲟⲩⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟⲟⲩ ⲡⲉ.
70 But again he denied it. After a little while, the people standing nearby said to Peter once again, “Truly yoʋ are one of them, for yoʋ also are a Galilean, and yoʋr accent is like theirs.”
ⲟ̅ⲛ̅ⲧⲟϥ ⲇⲉ ⲟⲛ ⲁϥⲁⲣⲛⲁ ⲙ̅ⲙⲛ̅ⲛ̅ⲥⲁⲕⲉⲕⲟⲩⲓ̈ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲉⲧⲁϩⲉⲣⲁⲧⲟⲩ ⲡⲉϫⲁⲩ ⲙ̅ⲡⲉⲧⲣⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲁⲗⲏⲑⲱⲥ ⲛ̅ⲧⲕ̅ⲟⲩⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟⲟⲩ ⲕⲁⲓⲅⲁⲣ ⲛ̅ⲧⲕ̅ⲟⲩⲅⲁⲗⲓⲗⲁⲓⲟⲥ.
71 But he began to invoke curses and to swear, saying, “I do not know this man of whom you speak.”
ⲟ̅ⲁ̅ⲛ̅ⲧⲟϥ ⲇⲉ ⲁϥⲁⲣⲭⲓ ⲛ̅ⲕⲁⲉⲩⲱ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ̈ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲉⲱⲣⲕ ϫⲉ ⲛ̅ϯⲥⲟⲟⲩⲛ ⲁⲛ ⲙ̅ⲡⲉⲓ̈ⲣⲱⲙⲉ ⲉⲧⲉⲧⲛ̅ⲧⲁⲩⲟ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟϥ.
72 Then a rooster crowed a second time, and Peter remembered what Jesus had said to him: “Before a rooster crows twice, yoʋ will deny me three times.” And he broke down and wept.
ⲟ̅ⲃ̅ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁⲡⲁⲗⲉⲕⲧⲱⲣ ⲙⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲙ̅ⲡⲙⲉϩⲥⲉⲡⲥⲛⲁⲩ. ⲁϥⲣ̅ⲡⲙⲉⲉⲩⲉ ⲇⲉ ⲛ̅ϭⲓⲡⲉⲧⲣⲟⲥ ⲙ̅ⲡϣⲁϫⲉ ⲛ̅ⲑⲉ ⲛ̅ⲧⲁⲓ̅ⲥ̅ ϫⲟⲟⲥ ⲛⲁϥ ϫⲉ ⲙ̅ⲡⲁⲧⲉⲟⲩⲁⲗⲉⲕⲧⲱⲣ ⲙⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲛ̅ⲥⲉⲡⲥⲛⲁⲩ ⲕⲛⲁⲁⲡⲁⲣⲛⲁ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟⲓ̈ ⲛ̅ϣⲙⲛ̅ⲧⲥⲱⲱⲡ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁϥϩⲓⲧⲟⲟⲧϥ̅ ⲁϥⲣⲓⲙⲉ.
