< Mark 13 >

1 As Jesus was coming out from the temple courts, one of his disciples said to him, “Teacher, look! What wonderful stones and what wonderful buildings!”
And as He was going out of the temple, one of his disciples saith to Him, Master, behold what fine stones are here, and what stately buildings!
2 Jesus answered him, “Do yoʋ see these great buildings? Not one stone will be left upon another; all of them will be torn down.”
And Jesus answering said unto him, Thou seest these grand buildings: but there shall not be left one stone upon another, which shall not be thrown down.
3 Later, as Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives, across from the temple, Peter, James, John, and Andrew asked him privately,
And as He was sitting on the mount of Olives over against the temple, Peter and James and John and Andrew asked Him privately,
4 “Tell us, when will these things happen? And what will be the sign that all these things are about to be fulfilled?”
saying, Tell us when these things shall be, and what shall be the sign when all these things are to be accomplished.
5 Jesus began to say to them in response, “Make sure no one leads you astray.
But Jesus answered them and said, Beware least any one deceive you:
6 For many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am he,’ and will lead many astray.
for many shall come in my name saying, I am the Christ, and shall deceive many.
7 When you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be alarmed, for these things must take place, but the end is not yet.
And when ye hear of wars, and rumors of wars, be not troubled; for such things must happen; but the end will not be yet.
8 For nation will rise up against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be earthquakes in various places, along with famines and riots. These are the beginning of the labor pains.
For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; and there shall be earthquakes in divers places, and famines and troubles: these will be the beginnings of sorrows.
9 “You must watch out for yourselves, for they will deliver you up to councils, and you will be beaten in synagogues. For my sake you will even be set before governors and kings as witnesses to them.
But look to yourselves; for they will deliver you up to councils, and synagogues: and ye shall be scourged, and set before governors and kings on my account, for a testimony against them.
10 And the gospel must first be proclaimed to all nations.
And the gospel must first be published to all nations.
11 When they lead you away and hand you over, do not be anxious beforehand about what you should say. Do not give it much thought, but say whatever is given to you in that hour, for it will not be you speaking, but the Holy Spirit.
But when they shall lead you to deliver you up, be not anxiously careful beforehand what ye shall speak, neither premeditate: but whatever shall be suggested to you at that very time, this speak: for it is not you that speak, but the holy Spirit.
12 Brother will deliver up brother to death, and a father his child, and children will rise up against their parents and have them put to death.
One brother shall betray another to death, and the father the son: and children shall appear against their parents, and cause them to be put to death.
13 You will be hated by all because of my name, but he who endures to the end will be saved.
And ye shall be hated by all men for my sake: but he that endures to the end shall be saved.
14 “When you see the abomination of desolation, which was spoken of by the prophet Daniel, standing where it should not be” (let the reader understand), “then those who are in Judea must flee to the mountains.
Now when ye shall see the desolating abomination, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, set up where it ought not to be, (let him that readeth, attend) then let those in Judea flee to the mountains:
15 He who is on the housetop must not come down into his house or go inside to get anything out of his house.
and let not him that is at the top of the house come down into the house, nor go in to fetch any thing out of his house:
16 And he who is in the field must not turn back to get his cloak.
nor let him that is in the field return back for his clothes.
17 Woe to those who are with child and to those who are nursing infants in those days!
But wo to them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days.
18 Pray that your flight will not happen in winter.
But pray that your flight may not be in the winter;
19 For those days will be a time of tribulation unlike any other from the beginning of God's creation until now, and it will never be equaled again.
for in those days shall be such affliction as never was from the beginning of the world, unto this day, nor ever shall be.
20 If the Lord had not cut those days short, no flesh would be saved. But for the sake of the chosen, whom he has selected, he has cut those days short.
And if the Lord did not shorten those days, none could escape: but for the sake of the elect, whom He hath chosen, He hath shortened those days.
21 If anyone says to you at that time, ‘Behold, here is the Christ!’ or, ‘Behold, there he is!’ do not believe him.
And then if any shall say to you, Behold, here is the Christ, or, Behold, He is there, believe it not:
22 For false christs and false prophets will rise up and perform signs and wonders to lead astray, if possible, even the chosen.
for there shall rise up false Christs, and false prophets, who shall work signs and wonders, to seduce, if possible, even the elect.
23 So you must watch out! Behold, I have told you everything in advance.
But do ye beware: behold, I have told you all before.
24 “But in those days, after that time of tribulation, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light.
But in those days, after that affliction, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give it's light; and the stars of heaven shall fall,
25 The stars of heaven will be falling, and the powers that are in the heavens will be shaken.
and the powers in the heavens shall be shaken;
26 Then people will see the Son of Man coming in the clouds with great power and glory.
and then shall they see the Son of man coming in clouds, with great power and glory.
27 And he will send his angels and gather together his chosen from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of heaven.
And He will then send forth his messengers, and will gather his elect together from the four winds, from the end of the earth to the end of heaven.
28 “Now learn this lesson from the fig tree: As soon as its branches become tender and put out leaves, you know that summer is near.
Now learn a parable from the fig-tree: when it's branch is tender and bringeth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh;
29 So also, when you see these things taking place, know that he is near, at the very gates.
so ye also, when ye see these things come to pass, know that He is near, even at the doors.
30 Truly I say to you, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have taken place.
Verily I tell you, that this generation shall not pass away until all these things be fulfilled.
31 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will certainly not pass away.
Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words cannot pass away.
32 “No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven or the Son, but only the Father.
But of THAT day and hour knoweth no one, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only.
33 Be on guard; stay alert and pray! For you do not know when the time is coming.
Take heed therefore, watch and pray; for ye know not when the time is:
34 It is like a man away on a journey: When he leaves his house and gives authority to his servants, assigning to each one his task, he also commands the doorkeeper to keep watch.
as a man travelling abroad, who left his house, and gave charge to his servants, to each his work, and bid the porter be watchful.
35 Therefore keep watch, for you do not know when the master of the house is coming—in the evening, at midnight, when the rooster crows, or in the morning.
Watch ye therefore; for ye know not when the master of the house cometh: (in the evening, or at midnight, or at the cock-crowing, or in the morning: )
36 Otherwise, he may come suddenly and find you sleeping.
least coming on a sudden he should find you sleeping.
37 What I say to you, I say to everyone: Keep watch!”
And what I say to you, I say to all, Watch.
