< Luke 14 >

1 One Sabbath, when Jesus went to eat at the house of one of the rulers of the Pharisees, the people there were watching him closely.
Izuba limwi le Savata Jesu a vayendi muzuvo ya mukulwana wavafalisi kukalya inkonko, miva vaku mulolete.
2 And behold, there in front of him was a man suffering from dropsy.
Mubone, habusu vwa kwe kuvena mukwame yava kulwala butuku bwa chirunta.
3 In response Jesus said to the lawyers and Pharisees, “Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath?”
Jesu ava kumbili vene inzivo ya mulao ni vafalisi chati: Kana iswanelo kuti muntu yo lwala a olwe ku hozwa le Savata kapa ka ku oleki?
4 But they remained silent. So Jesus took hold of the man, healed him, and sent him away.
Imi vava tuntwele. Jesu ava muondi, ava muhozi, ni ku mulwila kuti ayende.
5 Then he said to them, “Which of you whose son or ox falls into a pit on the Sabbath will not immediately pull him out?”
Cha wamba kuvali, njeni kwenu wina manaswisu kapa ipulu iwilile muchisima le Savata ya sati amu zwise muchisima?
6 But they could give him no answer about these things.
Kana vava oli kuha inkalabo kwezi zintu zonse.
7 When Jesus noticed how the guests were choosing the places of honor for themselves, he told them a parable:
Linu Jesu cha lemuha kuti ku vava memetwe vava liketeli kwi kala ku zipula zi sepahala, cha wamba che nguli, ku wamba nati kubali,
8 “When yoʋ are invited by someone to a wedding feast, do not recline in the place of honor, in case someone more honorable than yoʋ has been invited by yoʋr host.
“Ha mu memwa ku mukiti weseso, kanzi mwi kali ku zipula zi sepahala, kuola kuva ni muntu yo memetwe wina mazimo ahita enu.
9 Then the host, who invited you both, will come and say to yoʋ, ‘Give yoʋr place to this person.’ And with shame yoʋ will begin moving to the least important place.
Linu zuna muntu yava mi memi mu vonse ha sika, uwola ku milwila kuti muhe uzu mwi chi baka chenu; Linu che nsoni ka muhinde chipula cha hansi.
10 But when yoʋ are invited, go recline in the least important place, so that, when yoʋr host comes, he will say to yoʋ, ‘Friend, move up higher.’ Then yoʋ will be honored in the presence of those who are reclining at the table with yoʋ.
Linu ha mu memwa muyende ukekale ha chabaka cha hansi nji kuti zuna wa mi mema ha sika mwati kwenu mukwangu, zimane uzwe mu chaba cha hansi uke kale mu chabaka heulu.'
11 For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.”
Linu kamu kutekehe ha vusu vwa vantu vonse vekele hentafule nanwe. Yense muntu uli nuneka kabozwe mwi sule.”
12 Jesus also said to the man who had invited him, “When yoʋ prepare a luncheon or dinner, do not invite yoʋr friends, yoʋr brothers, yoʋr relatives, or yoʋr rich neighbors. Otherwise, they may invite yoʋ in return, and yoʋ will be repaid.
Jesu chata ku mukweme ya va mumemi kuzilyo za musihali kapa za chitengu, sanzi mu memi va likani niva kwenu, kapa muntu muhumanehi imu vambene naye chinanga amimeme naye, cho kuti kamulihiwe.
13 But when yoʋ prepare a banquet, invite the poor, the maimed, the lame, and the blind.
Kono hova ni zilyo zi chitengu umeme vashebete, zihole, vasayendi ni vasaboni,
14 Then yoʋ will be blessed. Since they do not have the means to repay yoʋ, yoʋ will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous.”
Imi mo fuyolwe, kakuti kavaoli kuku vozekeza chimwi kapa kukuliha. Mukuti, molihiwe kenako yoku vaka kuva shiyeme.”
15 When one of the men reclining at the table with Jesus heard these things, he said to him, “Blessed is he who will eat at the feast in the kingdom of God.”
Imi zumwi yabekele ni Jesu hentafule hazuwa zonse izi zintu abati kuti ufuyolwete yete nalya inkoko mu mubuso we Reeza!”
16 Jesus said to him, “A man prepared a great banquet and invited many guests.
Imi Jesu chata kuti zinwi mukwame, “Ava lukisi zilyo ze chitengu ni kumema bantu bangi.
17 At the time for the banquet he sent his servant to tell those who had been invited, ‘Come, for everything is now ready.’
Imi zilyo hazi lukiswa, avatumi zumwi kuvahikana vakwe kukasumpa bonse vamemetwe, 'Mwize, kakuli zonse zintu chiza shiama.
18 But they all alike began to make excuses. The first one said to him, ‘I have bought a field, and I need to go out and see it. I ask yoʋ to have me excused.’
Bonse chi vatanga kuha mavaka. Wentazi avati kwali, niva uli iwa, nisaka kuyenda nika libona, ni ondele.
19 Another said, ‘I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I am on my way to try them out. I ask yoʋ to have me excused.’
Linu zumwi naye chata kuti niva uli mapulu atenda ikumi ni saka ku ka atapisa, ni ondele.
20 Still another said, ‘I have married a woman, and for that reason I cannot come.’
Linu zumwi naye chata kuti, 'nji ni sesa hanu, kani oli kusiya va mwihetu, ni ondele kani oli kwiza.'
21 So the servant came back and told these things to his master. Then the master of the house became angry and said to his servant, ‘Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in the poor, the maimed, the lame, and the blind.’
Muhikana ava ka voli kwa nfumwe kwiza kumu wambila zintu zonse. Linu nfumwakwe cha venga ni ku wamba kuti azwe ayende mu ma kululu onse e tolopo ni kuka leta va shebete, zihole, va sayendi mane navana va saboni,
22 The servant said, ‘Master, it has been done as yoʋ commanded, and there is still room.’
Muhikana chati, nfumwangu, zova ni tumi zi petehele linu kusina chivaka cingi.'
23 So the master said to the servant, ‘Go out to the highways and hedges and compel people to come in, so that my house may be filled.
Nfumwakwe chati ku muhikana wakwe, 'Yende mu makulu makando onse uka sumpe vonse cho kuti inzuvo yangu izule.
24 For I tell you that none of those men who were invited shall taste my banquet.’ For many are called, but few are chosen.”
Linu niti kwako, kakwina kwavo vakwame vava memetwe yete na sole zilyo zangu zi chitengu.'”
25 Now large crowds were traveling with Jesus, and he turned and said to them,
Linu chisi chi va ku yenda naye, cha chevuka, chati ku vali,
26 “If anyone comes to me and does not hate his father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, and even his own life, he cannot be my disciple.
“Yense wiza kwangu yasa toyete vesi, vanyina, vamihyabwe, vana, vamukulwe ni va nchizye - initi, ni vu halo vwakwe, ka woli ku va mulutwana wangu.
27 And whoever does not bear his own cross and come after me cannot be my disciple.
Yense ya sa woli ku kulilka muziyo wakwe ni kwiza kwa ngu ka woli ku vuba mulutwana wangu.
28 For which of you who wants to build a tower does not first sit down and estimate the cost, to see if he has what he needs to complete it?
Njeni kwenu, yo lakaza ku zaka itawala, ya sa oli kwikala hansi ni ku hupula kapa, wina zi swanela ku mana ku mana muzako wa kwe.
29 Otherwise, when he has laid the foundation and is not able to finish it, all who are looking on will begin to mock him,
Hamwi, chatanga kete a wole ku mana, vonse vete ni vavone kava tange kumu somoza, ni vati,
30 saying, ‘This man began to build and was not able to finish.’
'Uzu mukwame ava tangite ku zaka linu kana ava woli ku mani.'
31 Or what king, when he is going out to confront another king in battle, does not first sit down and consider whether he is able with ten thousand men to face the king who is coming against him with twenty thousand men?
Simwine nzi, yoya ku kulwa ni simwine zu mwi, ya sati ne kale hansi kapa ku kumbila intuso ku vamwi, ku vona kapa u wola kuya ku nkondo ni va kwame va likana zikiti zina ikumi, ni zumwi simwene yo keza ni mpi ina zikiti zina makumi ovele?
32 If he cannot, he sends a delegation while the other is still far away and asks for terms of peace.
Linu heva ka njo vulyo, linu impi imwi ni sina kule, ka tumine muzimani zumwi ku ka ziminzana zikozo.
33 So then, any one of you who does not give up all his possessions cannot be my disciple.
Cho kuti, linu, yense kwenu ya siyi zonse za kwate kete na wole kuva mulutwana ngu.
34 “Salt is good, but if salt loses its flavor, with what shall it be seasoned?
Mwinyo mu lotu, linu heva mwinyo ha u sampuka, ka u lungwe vule?
35 It is fit neither for the soil nor for the manure pile; it is thrown out. He who has ears to hear, let him hear.”
Linu ka kwina intuso kwi yevu nanga mu sutelo u lindikitwe. Ka u soiwa vulyo. Yense wina matwi aku zuwa, azuwe.”
