< Luke 13 >
1 Now there were some present at that very time who told Jesus about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mixed with their sacrifices.
Na rĩrĩ, nĩ kwarĩ na andũ amwe maarĩ ho hĩndĩ ĩyo, arĩa meerire Jesũ ũhoro wa andũ a Galili arĩa mooragĩtwo nĩ Pilato makĩruta magongona, nayo thakame yao igĩtukana na ya nyamũ cia magongona mao.
2 Jesus responded to them, “Do you think that those Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans because they suffered such things?
Nake Jesũ akĩmacookeria atĩrĩ, “Anga mũgwĩciiria atĩ andũ acio maanyariirirwo ũguo tondũ acio maarĩ ehia gũkĩra andũ acio angĩ othe a Galili?
3 No, I tell you, but if you do not repent, you will all likewise perish.
Ngũmwĩra atĩrĩ, aca! No rĩrĩ, mwaga kwĩrira, o na inyuĩ inyuothe mũkaniinwo o tao.
4 Or those eighteen who were killed when the tower in Siloam fell on them, do you think they were worse offenders than all the other people who dwell in Jerusalem?
Kana andũ arĩa ikũmi na anana, arĩa magwĩrĩirwo nĩ nyũmba ĩrĩa ndaaya kũu itũũra rĩa Siloamu ĩkĩmooraga-rĩ, anga mũgwĩciiria atĩ maarĩ na mahĩtia maingĩ gũkĩra andũ arĩa angĩ othe maatũũraga kũu Jerusalemu?
5 No, I tell you, but if you do not repent, you will all likewise perish.”
Ngũmwĩra atĩrĩ, aca! No rĩrĩ, mwaga kwĩrira, o na inyuĩ inyuothe mũkaaniinwo o tao.”
6 Then he told this parable: “A man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard, and he came looking for fruit on it but did not find any.
7 So he said to the vinedresser, ‘Behold, for three years I have come looking for fruit on this fig tree and have not found any. Cut it down! Why should it use up the soil?’
8 But the vinedresser said to him in response, ‘Sir, allow it to remain for this year also, and I will dig around it and put manure on it.
“No mũndũ ũcio akĩmũcookeria, akĩmwĩra atĩrĩ, ‘Mwathi ũyũ, nĩtũreke ũikare mwaka ũngĩ ũmwe, ndĩũrĩmĩre na ndĩwĩkĩre thumu.
9 If it bears fruit, fine; but if not, yoʋ can cut it down in the coming year.’”
Naguo ũngĩciara hĩndĩ ĩyo, nĩ wega! No ũngĩaga gũciara, no ũtemwo.’”
10 One Sabbath Jesus was teaching in one of the synagogues.
11 And behold, there was a woman who had suffered from a spirit of disability for eighteen years. She was bent over and could not stand up completely straight.
nakuo gũgĩkorwo nĩ kwarĩ na mũtumia wonjetio nĩ ngoma thũku mĩaka ikũmi na ĩnana. Atũire ainamĩrĩire atekũhota gwĩtiira o na hanini.
12 When Jesus saw her, he called her over and said to her, “Woman, yoʋ are set free from yoʋr disability.”
Hĩndĩ ĩrĩa Jesũ aamuonire, akĩmwĩta, akĩmwĩra atĩrĩ, “Mũtumia ũyũ nĩwohorwo kuuma kũrĩ wonje waku.”
13 Then he laid his hands on her, and at once her back was made straight, and she began glorifying God.
Agĩcooka akĩmũigĩrĩra moko, na kahinda o kau agĩĩtiira, na akĩgooca Ngai.
14 But the ruler of the synagogue, indignant because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath, said to the crowd in response, “There are six days in which work should be done; so come and be healed on those days and not on the Sabbath day.”
Nake mũnene wa thunagogi akĩrakara mũno nĩ ũndũ wa Jesũ kũhonania mũthenya wa Thabatũ. Nake akĩĩra andũ atĩrĩ, “He na mĩthenya ĩtandatũ ya kũruta wĩra. Nĩ ũndũ ũcio, ũkagai kũhonio mĩthenya ĩyo, no ti mũthenya wa Thabatũ.”
15 Then the Lord said to him in response, “Hypocrites! Do not each of you on the Sabbath untie yoʋr ox or donkey from the manger, lead it away, and give it water?
16 Then should not this woman, a daughter of Abraham whom Satan has bound for eighteen long years, be released from this bondage on the Sabbath day?”
17 When he said this, all his adversaries were put to shame, and the entire crowd was rejoicing over all the glorious things he was doing.
Rĩrĩa oigire ũguo, thũ ciake ciothe igĩconoka, no kĩrĩndĩ kĩu kĩa andũ gĩgĩkena nĩ ũndũ wa maũndũ ma magegania marĩa eekaga.
18 Then Jesus said, “What is the kingdom of God like? To what should I compare it?
19 It is like a grain of mustard seed that a man took and sowed in his garden. It grew and became a large tree, and the birds of the sky nested in its branches.”
Ũhaana ta mbeũ ya karatarĩ ĩrĩa mũndũ oire akĩhaanda mũgũnda wake. Igĩkũra ĩgĩtuĩka mũtĩ, nacio nyoni cia rĩera-inĩ igĩũka igĩaka itara honge-inĩ ciaguo.”
20 Again he said, “To what should I compare the kingdom of God?
21 It is like leaven that a woman took and mixed into three measures of flour until it had all been leavened.”
22 Then Jesus traveled through towns and villages, teaching and making his way to Jerusalem.
Nake Jesũ agĩthiĩ ahĩtũkĩire matũũra-inĩ na tũtũũra-inĩ akĩrutanaga erekeire Jerusalemu.
23 Someone said to him, “Lord, will only a few be saved?” Jesus said to them,
Nake mũndũ ũmwe akĩmũũria atĩrĩ, “Mwathani anga no andũ anini tu makahonokio?” Nake akĩmeera atĩrĩ,
24 “Strive to enter through the narrow gate. For many, I tell you, will seek to enter and will not be able to.
“Geragiai na hinya gũtoonyera mũrango ũrĩa mũceke; tondũ ngũmwĩra atĩrĩ, andũ aingĩ nĩ makaageria gũtoonya, no matikahota.
25 Once the master of the house gets up and shuts the door, you will begin to stand outside and knock at the door, saying, ‘Lord, Lord, open the door for us.’ But he will answer you, ‘I do not know you or where you are from.’
Rĩrĩa mwene nyũmba agaakorwo okĩrĩte na ahinge mũrango-rĩ, mũkaarũgama hau nja mũkĩringaringaga mũrango mũkĩmũthaithaga, mũkoiga atĩrĩ, ‘Mwathi witũ, tũhingũrĩre mũrango.’ “Nake nĩakamũcookeria amwĩre atĩrĩ, ‘Niĩ ndimũũĩ o na ndiũĩ kũrĩa muumĩte.’
26 Then you will begin to say, ‘We ate and drank in yoʋr presence, and yoʋ taught in our streets.’
“Hĩndĩ ĩyo nĩmũkoiga atĩrĩ, ‘Nĩtwarĩĩanagĩra na tũkanyuuanĩra nawe, o na nĩwarutanaga njĩra-inĩ cia matũũra maitũ.’
27 But he will say, ‘I tell you, I do not know you or where you are from. Depart from me, all you workers of unrighteousness.’
“Nowe nĩakamacookeria atĩrĩ, ‘Niĩ ndimũũĩ, o na ndiũĩ kũrĩa muumĩte. Njehererai, inyuĩ inyuothe mwĩkaga ũũru!’
28 In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when you see Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, but you yourselves cast out.
“Kũu nĩgũkagĩa na kĩrĩro, na kũhagarania magego, rĩrĩa mũkoona Iburahĩmu, na Isaaka, na Jakubu, na anabii othe marĩ ũthamaki-inĩ wa Ngai, no inyuĩ mũkorwo mũikĩtio nja.
29 People will come from east and west, and from north and south, and recline at the banquet table in the kingdom of God.
30 And behold, some are last who will be first, and some are first who will be last.”
No ti-itherũ, nĩ kũrĩ andũ marĩ thuutha magaatuĩka a mbere, na nĩ kũrĩ a mbere magaatuĩka a thuutha.”
31 On that same day some Pharisees came up and said to Jesus, “Leave this place and go somewhere else, for Herod wants to kill yoʋ.”
O hĩndĩ ĩyo Afarisai amwe magĩũka kũrĩ Jesũ makĩmwĩra atĩrĩ, “Uma gũkũ ũthiĩ kũndũ kũngĩ. Herode nĩarenda gũkũũragithia.”
32 But he said to them, “Go tell that fox, ‘Behold, I will continue casting out demons and performing healings today and tomorrow, and on the third day I will finish my work.’
33 Nevertheless, I must go on my way today, tomorrow, and the following day; for it is unthinkable that a prophet should perish outside of Jerusalem.
34 O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to yoʋ! How often I have wanted to gather yoʋr children together as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, but you were not willing!
“Atĩrĩrĩ, wee Jerusalemu, Jerusalemu, wee ũragaga anabii, na ũkahũũra na mahiga nyuguto arĩa matũmĩtwo kũrĩ we, nĩ maita maingĩ atĩa ndanenda gũcookanĩrĩria ciana ciaku hamwe o ta ũrĩa ngũkũ ĩcookanagĩrĩria tũcui twayo mathagu-inĩ mayo, no ndũnjĩtĩkagĩria!
35 Behold, your house is left to you desolate. I tell you, you will certainly not see me again until the time comes when you say, ‘Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!’”
Atĩrĩrĩ, nyũmba yaku ĩiyũrĩte ihooru. Ngũmwĩra atĩrĩ, mũtikanyona rĩngĩ o nginya rĩrĩa mũkoiga atĩrĩ, ‘Kũrathimwo nĩ mũndũ ũrĩa ũgũũka na rĩĩtwa rĩa Mwathani.’”
