John 9
1 As Jesus walked along, he saw a man who had been blind from birth.
౧ఆయన దారిలో వెళ్తూ ఉన్నాడు. అక్కడ పుట్టినప్పటి నుండీ గుడ్డివాడుగా ఉన్న ఒక వ్యక్తి కనిపించాడు.
2 His disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he should be born blind?”
౨ఆయన శిష్యులు, “బోధకా, వీడు గుడ్డివాడిగా పుట్టడానికి కారణం వీడు చేసిన పాపమా, లేక వీడి తల్లిదండ్రులు చేసిన పాపమా?” అని ఆయనను అడిగారు.
3 Jesus answered, “Neither did this man sin nor his parents, but it happened so that the works of God might be revealed in him.
౩అందుకు యేసు, “వీడైనా, వీడిని కన్నవారైనా ఏ పాపమూ చేయలేదు. దేవుని పనులు వీడిలో వెల్లడి కావడానికే వీడు గుడ్డివాడుగా పుట్టాడు.
4 I must do the works of him who sent me while it is day; night is coming, when no one can work.
౪పగలున్నంత వరకూ నన్ను పంపిన వాడి పనులు మనం చేస్తూ ఉండాలి. రాత్రి వస్తుంది. అప్పుడిక ఎవరూ పని చేయలేరు.
5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”
౫ఈ లోకంలో ఉన్నంతవరకూ నేను ఈ లోకానికి వెలుగుని” అని చెప్పాడు.
6 After saying this, he spit on the ground and made mud with the saliva. Then he rubbed the mud on the blind man's eyes
౬ఆయన ఇలా చెప్పి, నేలపై ఉమ్మి వేసి, దానితో బురద చేసి ఆ బురదను ఆ గుడ్డివాడి కన్నులపై పూశాడు.
7 and said to him, “Go wash in the pool of Siloam” (which means “Sent”). So he went and washed, and came away seeing.
౭“సిలోయం కోనేటికి వెళ్ళి దాంట్లో కడుక్కో” అని వాడికి చెప్పాడు. సిలోయం అనే మాటకు ‘వేరొకరు పంపినవాడు’ అని అర్థం. వాడు వెళ్ళి ఆ కోనేటిలో కడుక్కుని చూపు పొంది తిరిగి వచ్చాడు.
8 Then his neighbors and those who had previously seen that he was blind were saying, “Is this not the man who used to sit and beg?”
౮అప్పుడు ఇరుగు పొరుగు వారూ, ఇంతకు ముందు వాడు అడుక్కుంటుంటే చూసిన వారూ, “ఇక్కడ కూర్చుని అడుక్కునే వాడు ఇతడే కదా!” అన్నారు.
9 Others were saying, “It is he.” Still others were saying, “He is like him.” But he kept saying, “I am he.”
౯“వీడే” అని కొందరూ, “వీడు కాదు” అని కొందరూ అన్నారు. ఇక వాడైతే, “అది నేనే” అన్నాడు.
10 So they said to him, “How were yoʋr eyes opened?”
౧౦వారు, “నీ కళ్ళు ఎలా తెరుచుకున్నాయి?” అని వాణ్ణి అడిగారు.
11 He answered, “A man named Jesus made mud, rubbed it on my eyes, and said to me, ‘Go to the pool of Siloam and wash.’ So I went and washed, and received my sight.”
౧౧దానికి వాడు, “యేసు అనే ఒకాయన బురద చేసి నా కళ్లపై పూసి సిలోయం కోనేటికి వెళ్ళి కడుక్కోమని నాకు చెప్పాడు. నేను వెళ్ళి కడుక్కుని చూపు పొందాను” అన్నాడు.
12 They said to him, “Where is this man?” He said, “I do not know.”
౧౨వారు, “ఆయన ఇప్పుడు ఎక్కడ ఉన్నాడు?” అని అడిగితే వాడు, “నాకు తెలియదు” అన్నాడు.
13 So they brought the man who was once blind to the Pharisees.
౧౩ఇంతకు ముందు గుడ్డి వాడుగా ఉన్న ఆ మనిషిని వారు పరిసయ్యుల దగ్గరికి తీసుకు వెళ్ళారు.
14 (Now it was a Sabbath when Jesus made the mud and opened the man's eyes.)
౧౪యేసు బురద చేసి వాడి కళ్ళు తెరచిన రోజు విశ్రాంతిదినం.
15 The Pharisees again asked him how he had received his sight, and he said to them, “He put mud on my eyes, and I washed, and now I see.”
౧౫వాడు చూపు ఎలా పొందాడో చెప్పమని పరిసయ్యులు కూడా వాడినడిగారు. వాడు, “ఆయన నా కన్నులపై బురద పూశాడు. నేను వెళ్ళి కడుక్కుని చూపు పొందాను” అని వారికి చెప్పాడు.
16 Then some of the Pharisees were saying, “This man is not from God, for he does not keep the Sabbath.” But others were saying, “How can a sinful man do such signs?” And a division arose among them.
౧౬“ఈ వ్యక్తి విశ్రాంతి దినాన్ని ఆచరించడం లేదు కాబట్టి ఇతడు దేవుని దగ్గర నుండి రాలేదు” అని పరిసయ్యుల్లో కొందరు అన్నారు. మరి కొందరు, “ఇతడు పాపి అయితే ఇలాటి అద్భుతాలు ఎలా చేయగలడు?” అన్నారు. ఈ విధంగా వారిలో భేదాభిప్రాయం కలిగింది.
17 So they said to the blind man again, “What do yoʋ say about him, since he opened yoʋr eyes?” The man said, “He is a prophet.”
౧౭దాంతో వారు గుడ్డివాడుగా ఉన్నవాడితో, “నీ కళ్ళు తెరిచాడు కదా! ఆయన గురించి నీ అభిప్రాయం ఏమిటి?” అని అడిగారు. అప్పుడు వాడు, “ఆయన ఒక ప్రవక్త” అన్నాడు.
18 Now the Jews did not believe that the man had been blind and had received his sight until they called in his parents.
౧౮వాడు గుడ్డివాడుగా ఉండి చూపు పొందాడని యూదులు మొదట నమ్మలేదు. అందుకని వాడి తల్లిదండ్రులను పిలిపించారు.
19 They asked them, “Is this your son, who you say was born blind? How then does he now see?”
౧౯“గుడ్డివాడుగా పుట్టాడని మీరు చెప్పే మీ కొడుకు వీడేనా? అలాగైతే ఇప్పుడు వీడు ఎలా చూడగలుగుతున్నాడు?” అని వారిని అడిగారు.
20 His parents answered them, “We know that this is our son and that he was born blind.
౨౦దానికి వాడి తల్లిదండ్రులు, “వీడు మా కొడుకే. వీడు గుడ్డివాడిగానే పుట్టాడు.
21 But how he can now see or who opened his eyes, we do not know. He is of age; ask him. He will speak for himself.”
౨౧అయితే ఇప్పుడు వీడు ఎలా చూస్తున్నాడో మాకు తెలీదు. వీడి కళ్ళు తెరిచినదెవరో మాకు తెలీదు. అయినా వీడికి వయస్సు వచ్చింది. వీడినే అడగండి. తన సంగతి వీడే చెప్పుకోగలడు” అన్నారు.
22 (His parents said this because they were afraid of the Jews, for the Jews had already agreed that if anyone should confess that Jesus was the Christ, he would be put out of the synagogue.
౨౨వాడి తల్లిదండ్రులు యూదులకు భయపడి ఆ విధంగా చెప్పారు. ఎందుకంటే యూదులు అప్పటికే ఎవరైనా ఆయనను క్రీస్తు అని ఒప్పుకుంటే వారిని తమ సమాజ మందిరాల్లో నుండి బహిష్కరించాలని నిర్ణయం తీసుకున్నారు.
23 That is why his parents said, “He is of age; ask him.”)
౨౩కాబట్టే వాడి తల్లిదండ్రులు ‘వాడు వయస్సు వచ్చినవాడు, వాడినే అడగండి’ అన్నారు.
24 So for a second time they called in the man who had been blind and said to him, “Give glory to God! We know that this man is a sinner.”
౨౪కాబట్టి వారు అప్పటివరకూ గుడ్డివాడిగా ఉన్న వ్యక్తిని రెండవ సారి పిలిపించారు. “దేవునికి మహిమ చెల్లించు. ఈ మనిషి పాపాత్ముడు అని మాకు తెలుసు” అని అతనితో అన్నారు.
25 He answered, “Whether he is a sinner or not, I do not know; one thing I know, that though I was blind, now I see.”
౨౫అందుకు వాడు, “ఆయన పాపాత్ముడో కాదో నాకేం తెలుసు? అయితే నాకు ఒక్కటి తెలుసు. నేను గుడ్డివాడుగా ఉండేవాణ్ణి, ఇప్పుడైతే చూస్తున్నాను” అన్నాడు.
26 Again they said to him, “What did he do to yoʋ? How did he open yoʋr eyes?”
౨౬దానికి వారు, “అసలు ఆయన నీకేం చేశాడు? నీ కళ్ళు ఎలా తెరిచాడు?” అని మళ్ళీ అడిగారు.
27 He answered them, “I told you already, and you did not listen. Why do you want to hear it again? Do you also want to become his disciples?”
౨౭దానికి వాడు, “ఇంతకు ముందే మీకు చెప్పాను. మీరు వినలేదు. మళ్ళీ ఎందుకు వినాలనుకుంటున్నారు? మీరు కూడా ఆయన శిష్యులు కావాలనుకుంటున్నారా ఏంటి?” అని వారితో అన్నాడు.
28 Then they reviled him and said, “Yoʋ are a disciple of that man, but we are disciples of Moses.
౨౮అందుకు వారు “నువ్వే వాడి శిష్యుడివి. మేము మోషే శిష్యులం.
29 We know that God has spoken to Moses, but as for this man, we do not know where he is from.”
౨౯దేవుడు మోషేతో మాట్లాడాడని తెలుసు కానీ ఈ మనిషి విషయమైతే అసలు ఇతడు ఎక్కడి నుండి వచ్చాడో కూడా తెలియదు” అంటూ వాణ్ణి బాగా దూషించారు.
30 The man answered them, “Why, this is an amazing thing, that you do not know where he is from, and yet he opened my eyes!
౩౦అయితే వాడు, “ఆయన ఎక్కడి నుండి వచ్చాడో కూడా మీకు తెలియక పోవడం ఆశ్చర్యంగా ఉంది. ఏది ఏమైనా ఆయన నా కళ్ళు తెరిచాడు.
31 We know that God does not listen to sinners, but he does listen to anyone who is devout and does his will.
౩౧దేవుడు పాపుల ప్రార్థనలు వినడని మనకు తెలుసు. అయితే దేవునిలో భక్తి కలిగి ఆయన ఇష్టాన్ని జరిగిస్తే అతని ప్రార్థనలు ఆయన వింటాడు.
౩౨గుడ్డివాడిగా పుట్టిన వ్యక్తి కళ్ళు ఎవరైనా తెరిచినట్టు లోకం మొదలైనప్పటి నుండి ఎవరూ వినలేదు. (aiōn g165)
33 If this man were not from God, he could do nothing.”
౩౩ఈయన దేవుని దగ్గర నుండి రాకపోతే ఇలాంటివి చేయలేడు” అని చెప్పాడు.
34 They answered him, “Yoʋ were born entirely in sin, and yet yoʋ are trying to teach us?” And they threw him out.
౩౪దానికి వారు, “పాపిగా పుట్టిన వాడివి, నువ్వు మాకు బోధిస్తున్నావా?” అని చెప్పి వాణ్ణి తమ సమాజ మందిరం నుండి బహిష్కరించారు.
35 Jesus heard that they had thrown him out, so he found the man and said to him, “Do yoʋ believe in the Son of God?”
౩౫పరిసయ్యులు వాణ్ణి బహిష్కరించారని యేసు విన్నాడు. ఆయన వాణ్ణి కలుసుకుని, “నువ్వు దేవుని కుమారుడిలో విశ్వాసముంచుతున్నావా?” అని వాణ్ణి అడిగాడు.
36 He answered, “Who is he, Lord, that I may believe in him?”
౩౬అందుకు వాడు, “ప్రభూ, అలా విశ్వాసముంచడానికి ఆయన ఎవరో నాకు తెలియదే” అన్నాడు.
37 Jesus said to him, “Yoʋ have seen him, and the one speaking with yoʋ is he.”
౩౭యేసు, “ఇప్పుడు నువ్వు ఆయనను చూస్తున్నావు. నీతో మాట్లాడుతున్న నేనే ఆయన్ని” అన్నాడు.
38 The man said, “I believe, Lord.” And he worshiped him.
౩౮అప్పుడు వాడు, “నేను నమ్ముతున్నాను ప్రభూ” అంటూ ఆయనను ఆరాధించాడు.
39 Then Jesus said, “For judgment I have come into this world, so that those who do not see may see, and those who see may become blind.”
౩౯అప్పుడు యేసు, “‘చూడనివారు చూడాలి. చూసేవారు గుడ్డివారు కావాలి’ అనే తీర్పు జరగడం కోసం నేను ఈ లోకంలోకి వచ్చాను” అన్నాడు.
40 Some of the Pharisees who were with him heard this and said to him, “We are not also blind, are we?”
౪౦ఆయనకు దగ్గరలో ఉన్న పరిసయ్యుల్లో కొంత మంది ఆ మాట విని, “అయితే మేము కూడా గుడ్డివాళ్ళమేనా?” అని అడిగారు.
41 Jesus said to them, “If you were blind, you would have no sin, but now you say, ‘We see.’ Therefore your sin remains.
౪౧అందుకు యేసు, “మీరు గుడ్డివారైతే మీకు పాపం ఉండేది కాదు. కానీ ‘మాకు చూపు ఉంది’ అని మీరు చెప్పుకుంటున్నారు కాబట్టి మీ పాపం నిలిచి ఉంటుంది” అని చెప్పాడు.
