< John 9 >

1 As Jesus walked along, he saw a man who had been blind from birth.
ⲁ̅ⲁⲩⲱ ⲉϥⲡⲁⲣⲁⲅⲉ ⲁϥⲛⲁⲩ ⲉⲩⲣⲱⲙⲉ ⲉⲁⲩϫⲡⲟϥ ⲉϥⲟ ⲛ̅ⲃⲗ̅ⲗⲉ.
2 His disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he should be born blind?”
ⲃ̅ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁⲛⲉϥⲙⲁⲑⲏⲧⲏⲥ ϫⲛⲟⲩϥ ⲉⲩϫⲱ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟⲥ. ϫⲉ ϩⲣⲁⲃⲃⲉⲓ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲡⲉ ⲛ̅ⲧⲁϥⲣ̅ⲛⲟⲃⲉ. ⲡⲁⲓ̈ ⲡⲉ ϫⲛ̅ⲛⲉϥⲉ͡ⲓⲟⲧⲉ ⲛⲉ ϫⲉⲕⲁⲥ ⲉⲩⲉϫⲡⲟϥ ⲉϥⲟ ⲃ̅ⲃⲗ̅ⲗⲉ.
3 Jesus answered, “Neither did this man sin nor his parents, but it happened so that the works of God might be revealed in him.
ⲅ̅ⲁϥⲟⲩⲱϣⲃ̅ ⲛ̅ϭⲓⲓ̅ⲥ̅. ϫⲉ ⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲙ̅ⲡⲉⲡⲁⲓ̈ ⲣ̅ⲛⲟⲃⲉ ⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲙ̅ⲡⲉⲛⲉϥⲕⲉⲉ͡ⲓⲟⲧⲉ. ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ϫⲉⲕⲁⲥ ⲉⲣⲉⲛⲉϩⲃⲏⲩⲉ ⲙ̅ⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲟⲩⲱⲛϩ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲣⲁⲓ̈ ⲛ̅ϩⲏⲧϥ̅.
4 I must do the works of him who sent me while it is day; night is coming, when no one can work.
ⲇ̅ϣ̑ϣⲉ ⲉⲣⲟⲛ ⲉⲣϩⲱⲃ ⲉⲛⲉϩⲃⲏⲩⲉ ⲙ̅ⲡⲉⲛⲧⲁϥⲧⲁⲟⲩⲟⲉ͡ⲓ ϩⲟⲥⲟⲛ ⲡⲉϩⲟⲟⲩ ⲡⲉ. ⲥⲛⲏⲩ ⲛ̅ϭⲓⲧⲉⲩϣⲏ ϩⲟⲧⲉ ⲙⲛ̅ⲗⲁⲁⲩ ⲛⲁϣϭⲙϭⲟⲙ ⲉⲣϩⲱⲃ ⲛ̅ϩⲏⲧⲥ̅.
5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”
ⲉ̅ϩⲟⲥⲟⲛ ϯϩⲙ̅ⲡⲕⲟⲥⲙⲟⲥ. ⲁⲛⲅ̅ⲡⲟⲩⲟⲓ̈ⲛ ⲙ̅ⲡⲕⲟⲥⲙⲟⲥ.
6 After saying this, he spit on the ground and made mud with the saliva. Then he rubbed the mud on the blind man's eyes
ⲋ̅ⲛ̅ⲧⲉⲣⲉϥϫⲉⲛⲁⲓ̈ ⲁϥⲛⲉϫⲟⲩⲡⲁϭⲥⲉ ⲉⲡⲕⲁϩ ⲁϥⲧⲁⲙⲓⲉⲟⲩⲟⲙⲉ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛ̅ⲧⲡⲁϭⲥⲉ ⲁϥϫⲉϩⲡⲟⲙⲉ ⲉⲛⲉϥⲃⲁⲗ
7 and said to him, “Go wash in the pool of Siloam” (which means “Sent”). So he went and washed, and came away seeing.
ⲍ̅ⲁⲩⲱ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲛⲁϥ. ϫⲉ ⲃⲱⲕ ⲛⲅ̅ⲉ͡ⲓⲁⲡⲉⲕϩⲟ ϩⲛ̅ⲧⲕⲟⲗⲩⲙ̅ⲃⲏⲑⲣⲁ ⲙ̅ⲡⲥⲓⲗⲱⲁⲙ ⲡⲁⲓ̈ ⲉϣⲁⲩⲟⲩⲁϩⲙⲉϥ ϫⲉ ⲡⲉⲛⲧⲁⲩⲧⲛ̅ⲛⲟⲟⲩϥ. ⲁϥⲃⲱⲕ ϭⲉ ⲁϥⲉ͡ⲓⲁⲡⲉϥϩⲟ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁϥⲉ͡ⲓ ⲉϥⲛⲁⲩ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ
8 Then his neighbors and those who had previously seen that he was blind were saying, “Is this not the man who used to sit and beg?”
ⲏ̅ⲛⲉⲧϩⲓⲧⲟⲩⲱϥ ϭⲉ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛⲉⲧⲛⲁⲩ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ⲛ̅ϣⲟⲣⲡ ϫⲉ ⲛⲉⲩⲣⲉϥⲧⲱⲃⲁϩ ⲡⲉ ⲛⲉⲩϫⲱ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟⲥ. ϫⲉ ⲙⲏ ⲙ̅ⲡⲁⲓ̈ ⲁⲛ ⲡⲉⲧϩⲙⲟⲟⲥ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲉⲧϣⲉⲧⲙⲛ̅ⲧⲛⲁ͡ⲁ.
9 Others were saying, “It is he.” Still others were saying, “He is like him.” But he kept saying, “I am he.”
ⲑ̅ϩⲉⲛⲕⲟⲟⲩⲉ ⲛⲉⲩϫⲱ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲡⲁⲓ̈ ⲡⲉ. ϩⲉⲛⲕⲟⲟⲩⲉ ⲇⲉ ϫⲉ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟⲛ. ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲉϥⲉ͡ⲓⲛⲉ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟϥ. ⲛ̅ⲧⲟϥ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲉϥϫⲱ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲁⲛⲟⲕ ⲡⲉ.
10 So they said to him, “How were yoʋr eyes opened?”
ⲓ̅ⲡⲉϫⲁⲩ ϭⲉ ⲛⲁϥ. ϫⲉ ⲛ̅ⲁϣ ϭⲉ ⲛ̅ϩⲉ ⲁⲩⲟⲩⲱⲛ ⲛ̅ϭⲓⲛⲉⲕⲃⲁⲗ.
11 He answered, “A man named Jesus made mud, rubbed it on my eyes, and said to me, ‘Go to the pool of Siloam and wash.’ So I went and washed, and received my sight.”
ⲓ̅ⲁ̅ⲁϥⲟⲩⲱϣⲃ̅ ϫⲉ ⲡⲓⲣⲱⲙⲉ ⲉⲧⲟⲩⲙⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ϫⲉ ⲓ̅ⲥ̅ ⲡⲉⲛⲧⲁϥⲧⲁⲙⲓⲉⲟⲩⲟⲙⲉ ⲁϥϫⲉϩⲛⲁⲃⲁⲗ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲛⲁⲓ̈ ϫⲉ ⲃⲱⲕ ⲉⲡⲥⲓⲗⲱϩⲁⲙ ⲛⲅ̅ⲉⲓⲁⲡⲉⲕϩⲟ. ⲁⲓ̈ⲃⲱⲕ ϭⲉ ⲁⲓ̈ⲉ͡ⲓⲁⲡⲁϩⲟ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁⲉ͡ⲓⲛⲁⲩ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ.
12 They said to him, “Where is this man?” He said, “I do not know.”
ⲓ̅ⲃ̅ⲡⲉϫⲁⲩ ⲛⲁϥ. ϫⲉ ⲉϥⲧⲱⲛ ⲡⲉⲧⲙ̅ⲙⲁⲩ. ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ. ϫⲉ ⲛ̅ϯⲥⲟⲟⲩⲛ ⲁⲛ.
13 So they brought the man who was once blind to the Pharisees.
ⲓ̅ⲅ̅ⲁⲩⲉ͡ⲓⲛⲉ ⲙ̅ⲡⲉⲛⲉϥⲟ ⲃ̅ⲃⲗ̅ⲗⲉ ⲉⲣⲁⲧⲟⲩ ⲛ̅ⲛⲉⲫⲁⲣⲓⲥⲁⲓⲟⲥ.
14 (Now it was a Sabbath when Jesus made the mud and opened the man's eyes.)
ⲓ̅ⲇ̅ⲛⲉⲡⲥⲁⲃⲃⲁⲧⲟⲛ ⲇⲉ ⲡⲉ ⲛ̅ⲧⲉⲣⲉⲓ̅ⲥ̅ ⲧⲁⲙⲓⲉⲡⲟⲙⲉ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁϥⲟⲩⲱⲛ ⲛ̅ⲛⲉϥⲃⲁⲗ.
15 The Pharisees again asked him how he had received his sight, and he said to them, “He put mud on my eyes, and I washed, and now I see.”
ⲓ̅ⲉ̅ⲁⲩϫⲛⲟⲩϥ ϭⲉ ⲟⲛ ⲛ̅ϭⲓⲛⲉⲫⲁⲣⲓⲥⲁⲓⲟⲥ. ϫⲉ ⲛ̅ⲧⲁⲕⲛⲁⲩ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲛ̅ⲁϣ ⲛϩⲉ. ⲛ̅ⲧⲟϥ ⲇⲉ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲛⲁⲩ ϫⲉ ⲛ̅ⲧⲁϥⲉⲥϭⲟⲩⲟⲙⲉ ⲉⲛⲁⲃⲁⲗ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁⲓ̈ⲁⲡⲁϩⲟ ⲁⲓ̈ⲛⲁⲩ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ.
16 Then some of the Pharisees were saying, “This man is not from God, for he does not keep the Sabbath.” But others were saying, “How can a sinful man do such signs?” And a division arose among them.
ⲓ̅ⲋ̅ⲡⲉϫⲉϩⲟⲓ̈ⲛⲉ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛ̅ⲛⲉⲫⲁⲣⲓⲥⲁⲓⲟⲥ. ϫⲉ ⲡⲉⲉ͡ⲓⲣⲱⲙⲉ ⲛ̅ⲟⲩⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲙ̅ⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲁⲛ ⲡⲉ ϫⲉ ⲛϥ̅ϩⲁⲣⲉϩ ⲁⲛ ⲉⲡⲥⲁⲃⲃⲁⲧⲟⲛ. ϩⲉⲛⲕⲟⲟⲩⲉ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲉⲩϫⲱ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟⲥ. ϫⲉ ⲛ̅ⲁϣ ⲛ̅ϩⲉ ⲟⲩⲛϣϭⲟⲙ ⲛ̅ⲟⲩⲣⲱⲙⲉ ⲛ̅ⲣⲉϥⲣ̅ⲛⲟⲃⲉ ⲉⲣⲛⲉⲓ̈ⲙⲁⲓ̈ⲛ ⲛ̅ⲧⲉⲓ̈ⲙⲓⲛⲉ. ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛⲉⲣⲉⲟⲩⲥⲭⲓⲥⲙⲁ ϣⲟⲟⲡ ⲛ̅ϩⲏⲧⲟⲩ.
17 So they said to the blind man again, “What do yoʋ say about him, since he opened yoʋr eyes?” The man said, “He is a prophet.”
ⲓ̅ⲍ̅ⲡⲉϫⲁⲩ ⲟⲛ ⲙ̅ⲡⲏ ⲉⲧⲉⲛⲉϥⲟ ⲃ̅ⲃⲗ̅ⲗⲉ. ϫⲉ ⲛ̅ⲧⲟⲕ ⲉⲕϫⲱ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲟⲩ ⲉⲧⲃⲏⲏⲧϥ̅ ϫⲉ ⲁϥⲟⲩⲱⲛ ⲛ̅ⲛⲉⲕⲃⲁⲗ. ⲛ̅ⲧⲟϥ ⲇⲉ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ϫⲉ ⲟⲩⲡⲣⲟⲫⲏⲧⲏⲥ ⲡⲉ.
18 Now the Jews did not believe that the man had been blind and had received his sight until they called in his parents.
ⲓ̅ⲏ̅ⲛⲉⲩⲡⲓⲥⲧⲉⲩⲉ ϭⲉ ⲁⲛ ⲛ̅ϭⲓⲛ̅ⲓ̈ⲟⲩⲇⲁⲓ̈ ⲉⲧⲃⲏⲏⲧϥ̅ ϫⲉ ⲛⲉⲩⲃⲗ̅ⲗⲉ ⲡⲉ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁϥⲛⲁⲩ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ. ϣⲁⲛⲧⲟⲩⲙⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲉⲛⲉ͡ⲓⲟⲧⲉ ⲙ̅ⲡⲉⲛⲧⲁϥⲛⲁⲩ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ
19 They asked them, “Is this your son, who you say was born blind? How then does he now see?”
ⲓ̅ⲑ̅ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁⲩϫⲛⲟⲩⲟⲩ ⲉⲩϫⲱ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟⲥ. ϫⲉ ⲡⲁⲓ̈ ⲡⲉ ⲡⲉⲧⲛ̅ϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲉⲧⲉⲧⲛ̅ϫⲱ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲁⲛϫⲡⲟϥ ⲉϥⲟ ⲛ̅ⲃⲗ̅ⲗⲉ. ⲛ̅ⲁϣ ϭⲉ ⲛ̅ϩⲉ ⲧⲉⲛⲟⲩ ϥⲛⲁⲩ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ.
20 His parents answered them, “We know that this is our son and that he was born blind.
ⲕ̅ⲁⲛⲉϥⲉ͡ⲓⲟⲧⲉ ⲟⲩⲱϣⲃ̅ ⲡⲉϫⲁⲩ ⲛⲁⲩ. ϫⲉ ⲧⲛ̅ⲥⲟⲟⲩⲛ ϫⲉ ⲡⲁⲓ̈ ⲡⲉ ⲡⲉⲛϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲁⲩⲱ ϫⲉ ⲛ̅ⲧⲁⲛϫⲡⲟϥ ⲉϥⲟ ⲛ̅ⲃⲗⲗⲉ.
21 But how he can now see or who opened his eyes, we do not know. He is of age; ask him. He will speak for himself.”
ⲕ̅ⲁ̅ⲛ̅ⲁϣ ⲇⲉ ⲛ̅ϩⲉ ⲧⲉⲛⲟⲩ ϥⲛⲁⲩ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲛ̅ⲧⲛ̅ⲥⲟⲟⲩⲛ ⲁⲛ. ⲏ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲡⲉⲛⲧⲁϥⲟⲩⲱⲛ ⲛ̅ⲛⲉϥⲃⲁⲗ. ⲁⲛⲟⲛ ⲛ̅ⲧⲛ̅ⲥⲟⲟⲩⲛ ⲁⲛ. ⲛ̅ⲧⲟϥ ϩⲱⲱϥ ⲁϥⲣ̅ⲧⲉ ⲛ̅ϣⲁϫⲉ ϩⲁⲣⲟϥ.
22 (His parents said this because they were afraid of the Jews, for the Jews had already agreed that if anyone should confess that Jesus was the Christ, he would be put out of the synagogue.
ⲕ̅ⲃ̅ⲛ̅ⲧⲁⲩϫⲉⲛⲁⲓ̈ ⲛ̅ϭⲓⲛⲉϥⲉ͡ⲓⲟⲧⲉ ϫⲉ ⲛⲉⲩⲣ̅ϩⲟⲧⲉ ϩⲏⲧⲟⲩ ⲛ̅ⲓ̈ⲟⲩⲇⲁⲓ̈. ⲛⲉⲁⲩⲟⲩⲱ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲉⲩⲥⲙⲓⲛⲉ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟⲥ ⲛ̅ϭⲓⲛ̅ⲓ̈ⲟⲩⲇⲁⲓ̈ ϫⲉⲕⲁⲥ ⲉⲣϣⲁⲛⲟⲩⲁ ϩⲟⲙⲟⲗⲟⲅⲓ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟϥ ϫⲉ ⲡⲉⲭ̅ⲥ̅ ⲡⲉ. ⲉϥⲉϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲛ̅ⲁⲡⲟⲥⲩⲛⲁⲅⲱⲅⲟⲥ.
23 That is why his parents said, “He is of age; ask him.”)
ⲕ̅ⲅ̅ⲉⲧⲃⲉⲡⲁⲓ̈ ⲁⲛⲉϥⲉ͡ⲓⲟⲧⲉ ϫⲟⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲁϥⲣ̅ⲛⲟϭ ⲙⲁϫⲛⲟⲩϥ.
24 So for a second time they called in the man who had been blind and said to him, “Give glory to God! We know that this man is a sinner.”
ⲕ̅ⲇ̅ⲁⲩⲙⲟⲩⲧⲉ ϭⲉ ⲟⲛ ⲉⲡⲣⲱⲙⲉ ⲙ̅ⲡⲙⲉϩⲥⲉⲡⲥⲛⲁⲩ ⲡⲉⲧⲉⲛⲉϥⲟ ⲛ̅ⲃⲗ̅ⲗⲉ ⲡⲉϫⲁⲩ ⲛⲁϥ. ϫⲉ ϯⲉⲟⲟⲩ ⲙ̅ⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ. ⲁⲛⲟⲛ ⲧⲛ̅ⲥⲟⲟⲩⲛ ϫⲉ ⲡⲉⲉ͡ⲓⲣⲱⲙⲉ ⲟⲩⲣⲉϥⲣ̅ⲛⲟⲃⲉ ⲡⲉ.
25 He answered, “Whether he is a sinner or not, I do not know; one thing I know, that though I was blind, now I see.”
ⲕ̅ⲉ̅ⲁϥⲟⲩⲱϣⲃ̅ ⲇⲉ ⲛ̅ϭⲓⲡⲏ. ϫⲉ ⲉϣϫⲉⲟⲩⲣⲉϥⲣ̅ⲛⲟⲃⲉ ⲡⲉ. ⲛ̅ϯⲥⲟⲟⲩⲛ ⲁⲛ. ⲟⲩⲁ ⲁⲛⲟⲕ ⲡⲉϯⲥⲟⲟⲩⲛ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟϥ. ϫⲉ ⲛⲉⲓ̈ⲟ ⲛ̅ⲃⲗ̅ⲗⲉ ⲡⲉ. ⲁⲩⲱ ⲧⲉⲛⲟⲩ ϯⲛⲁⲩ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ.
26 Again they said to him, “What did he do to yoʋ? How did he open yoʋr eyes?”
ⲕ̅ⲋ̅ⲡⲉϫⲁⲩ ϭⲉ ⲛⲁϥ. ϫⲉ ⲟⲩ ⲡⲉ ⲛ̅ⲧⲁϥⲁⲁϥ ⲛⲁⲕ. ⲛ̅ⲧⲁϥⲟⲩⲱⲛ ⲛ̅ⲛⲉⲕⲃⲁⲗ ⲛ̅ⲁϣ ⲛ̅ϩⲉ.
27 He answered them, “I told you already, and you did not listen. Why do you want to hear it again? Do you also want to become his disciples?”
ⲕ̅ⲍ̅ⲁϥⲟⲩⲱϣⲃ̅ ⲛⲁⲩ. ϫⲉ ⲁⲉ͡ⲓⲟⲩⲱ ⲉⲓ̈ϫⲱ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟⲥ ⲛⲏⲧⲛ̅ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲙ̅ⲡⲉⲧⲛ̅ⲥⲱⲧⲙ̅. ⲟⲩ ⲟⲛ ⲡⲉⲧⲉⲧⲛ̅ⲟⲩⲉϣⲥⲟⲧⲙⲉϥ. ⲙⲏ ⲉⲧⲉⲧⲛ̅ⲟⲩⲱϣ ϩⲱⲧⲧⲏⲩⲧⲛ̅ ⲉⲣⲙⲁⲑⲏⲧⲏⲥ ⲛⲁϥ.
28 Then they reviled him and said, “Yoʋ are a disciple of that man, but we are disciples of Moses.
ⲕ̅ⲏ̅ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁⲩⲥⲁϩⲟⲩ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟϥ ⲉⲩϫⲱ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟⲥ."ϫⲉ ⲛ̅ⲧⲟⲕ ⲡⲉ ⲡⲙⲁⲑⲏⲧⲏⲥ ⲙ̅ⲡⲉⲧⲙ̅ⲙⲁⲩ. ⲁⲛⲟⲛ ⲇⲉ ⲁⲛⲟⲛⲙ̅ⲙⲁⲑⲏⲧⲏⲥ ⲙ̅ⲙⲱⲩ̈ⲥⲏⲥ.
29 We know that God has spoken to Moses, but as for this man, we do not know where he is from.”
ⲕ̅ⲑ̅ⲁⲛⲟⲛ ⲧⲛ̅ⲥⲟⲟⲩⲛ ϫⲉ ⲁⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ϣⲁϫⲉ ⲙⲛ̅ⲙⲱⲩ̈ⲥⲏⲥ. ⲡⲁⲓ̈ ⲇⲉ ⲛ̅ⲧⲟϥ ⲛ̅ⲧⲛ̅ⲥⲟⲟⲩⲛ ⲁⲛ ϫⲉ ⲟⲩⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲧⲱⲛ ⲡⲉ.
30 The man answered them, “Why, this is an amazing thing, that you do not know where he is from, and yet he opened my eyes!
ⲗ̅ⲁⲡⲣⲱⲙⲉ ⲟⲩⲱϣⲃ̅ ⲉϥϫⲱ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟⲥ ⲛⲁⲩ. ϫⲉ ⲧⲁⲓ̈ ⲣⲱ ⲧⲉ ⲧⲉϣⲡⲏⲣⲉ ϫⲉ ⲛ̅ⲧⲱⲧⲛ̅ ⲛ̅ⲧⲉⲧⲛ̅ⲥⲟⲟⲩⲛ ⲁⲛ ϫⲉ ⲟⲩⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲧⲱⲛ ⲡⲉ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁϥⲟⲩⲱⲛ ⲛ̅ⲛⲁⲃⲁⲗ.
31 We know that God does not listen to sinners, but he does listen to anyone who is devout and does his will.
ⲗ̅ⲁ̅ⲧⲛ̅ⲥⲟⲟⲩⲛ ϫⲉ ⲙⲉⲣⲉⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲥⲱⲧⲙ̅ ⲉⲣⲉϥⲣ̅ⲛⲟⲃⲉ. ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲉϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲉⲩⲣⲙ̅ⲛ̅ⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲡⲉ ⲟⲩⲁ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲉϥⲉ͡ⲓⲣⲉ ⲙ̅ⲡⲉϥⲟⲩⲱϣ. ϣⲁϥⲥⲱⲧⲙ̅ ⲉⲣⲟϥ.
32 Never before has anyone heard of someone opening the eyes of a man born blind. (aiōn g165)
ⲗ̅ⲃ̅ϫⲓⲛⲉⲛⲉϩ ⲙ̅ⲡⲟⲩⲥⲱⲧⲙ̅ ϫⲉ ⲁⲩⲟⲩⲱⲛ ⲉⲛⲃⲁⲗ ⲛ̅ⲟⲩⲁ ⲉⲁⲩϫⲡⲟϥ ⲉϥⲟ ⲛ̅ⲃⲗ̅ⲗⲉ. (aiōn g165)
33 If this man were not from God, he could do nothing.”
ⲗ̅ⲅ̅ⲉⲛⲉⲛ̅ⲟⲩⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲁⲛ ϩⲙ̅ⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲡⲉ ⲡⲁⲓ̈. ⲛⲉϥⲛⲁϣⲣ̅ⲗⲁⲁⲩ ⲛ̅ϩⲱⲃ ⲁⲛ ⲡⲉ.
34 They answered him, “Yoʋ were born entirely in sin, and yet yoʋ are trying to teach us?” And they threw him out.
ⲗ̅ⲇ̅ⲁⲩⲟⲩⲱϣⲃ̅ ⲉⲩϫⲱ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟⲥ ⲛⲁϥ. ϫⲉ ⲛ̅ⲧⲁⲩϫⲡⲟⲕ ⲧⲏⲣⲕ̅ ϩⲙ̅ⲡⲛⲟⲃⲉ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛ̅ⲧⲟⲕ ⲉⲕⲛⲁϯⲥⲃⲱ ⲛⲁⲛ. ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁⲩⲛⲟϫϥ̅ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ.
35 Jesus heard that they had thrown him out, so he found the man and said to him, “Do yoʋ believe in the Son of God?”
ⲗ̅ⲉ̅ⲁⲓ̅ⲥ̅ ⲥⲱⲧⲙ̅ ϫⲉ ⲁⲩⲛⲟϫϥ̅ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛ̅ⲧⲉⲣⲉϥϩⲉ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲛⲁϥ. ϫⲉ ⲛ̅ⲧⲟⲕ ⲡⲓⲥⲧⲉⲩⲉ ⲉⲡϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲙ̅ⲡⲣⲱⲙⲉ.
36 He answered, “Who is he, Lord, that I may believe in him?”
ⲗ̅ⲋ̅ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ϫⲉ ⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲡⲉ ϫⲉ ⲉⲉ͡ⲓⲉⲡⲓⲥⲧⲉⲩⲉ ⲉⲣⲟϥ.
37 Jesus said to him, “Yoʋ have seen him, and the one speaking with yoʋ is he.”

38 The man said, “I believe, Lord.” And he worshiped him.
ⲗ̅ⲏ̅
39 Then Jesus said, “For judgment I have come into this world, so that those who do not see may see, and those who see may become blind.”

40 Some of the Pharisees who were with him heard this and said to him, “We are not also blind, are we?”
