John 9
1 As Jesus walked along, he saw a man who had been blind from birth.
১এখন যীশু যেতে যেতে একজন লোককে দেখতে পেলেন সে জন্ম থেকে অন্ধ।
2 His disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he should be born blind?”
২তাঁর শিষ্যেরা তাঁকে জিজ্ঞাসা করলেন, রব্বি, কে পাপ করেছিল এই লোকটি না এই লোকটী বাবা মা, যাতে এ অন্ধ হয়ে জন্মেছে?
3 Jesus answered, “Neither did this man sin nor his parents, but it happened so that the works of God might be revealed in him.
৩যীশু উত্তর দিলেন, না এই লোকটি পাপ করেছে, না এই লোকটী বাবা মা পাপ করেছে, কিন্তু এই লোকটী জীবনে যেন ঈশ্বরের কাজ প্রকাশিত হয় তাই এমন হয়েছে।
4 I must do the works of him who sent me while it is day; night is coming, when no one can work.
৪যতক্ষণ দিন আছে ততক্ষণ যিনি আমাকে পাঠিয়েছেন তাঁর কাজ আমাদের করতে হবে। রাত্রি আসছে যখন কেউ কাজ করতে পারবে না।
5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”
৫আমি যখন এই পৃথিবীতে আছি, তখন আমিই হলাম পৃথিবীর আলো।
6 After saying this, he spit on the ground and made mud with the saliva. Then he rubbed the mud on the blind man's eyes
৬এই কথা বলার পর তিনি মাটিতে থুথু ফেলে সেই থুথু দিয়ে কাদা করলেন; পরে ঐ অন্ধ লোকটী চোখেতে সেই কাদা মাখিয়ে দিলেন।
7 and said to him, “Go wash in the pool of Siloam” (which means “Sent”). So he went and washed, and came away seeing.
৭তিনি তাঁকে বললেন, যাও শীলোহ সরোবরে গিয়ে ধুয়ে ফেল; অনুবাদ করলে এই নামের মানে হয় প্রেরিত। সুতরাং সে গিয়ে ধুয়ে ফেলল এবং দেখতে দেখতে ফিরে আসল।
8 Then his neighbors and those who had previously seen that he was blind were saying, “Is this not the man who used to sit and beg?”
৮তখন লোকটী প্রতিবেশীরা এবং যারা আগে তাকে দেখেছিল যে, সে ভিক্ষা করত, তারা বলতে লাগল একি সেই লোকটি নয় যে বসে ভিক্ষা করত?
9 Others were saying, “It is he.” Still others were saying, “He is like him.” But he kept saying, “I am he.”
৯কেউ কেউ বলল, এ সেই লোক; অন্যরা বলল না কিন্তু তারই মত; সে কিন্তু বলছিল “আমি সেই লোক।”
10 So they said to him, “How were yoʋr eyes opened?”
১০তারা তখন তাকে বলল, তবে কি করে তোমার চক্ষু খুলে গেল?
11 He answered, “A man named Jesus made mud, rubbed it on my eyes, and said to me, ‘Go to the pool of Siloam and wash.’ So I went and washed, and received my sight.”
১১সে উত্তর দিল, একজন মানুষ যাকে যীশু নামে ডাকে তিনি কাদা করে আমার চক্ষুতে মাখিয়ে দিলেন এবং আমাকে বললেন, শীলোহে যাও এবং ধুয়ে ফেল; সুতরাং আমি গিয়ে ধুয়ে ফেললাম এবং দৃষ্টি ফিরে পেলাম।
12 They said to him, “Where is this man?” He said, “I do not know.”
১২তারা তাকে বলল, সে কোথায়? সে বলল আমি জানি না।
13 So they brought the man who was once blind to the Pharisees.
১৩আগে যে অন্ধ ছিল তাকে তারা ফরীশীদের কাছে নিয়ে গেল।
14 (Now it was a Sabbath when Jesus made the mud and opened the man's eyes.)
১৪যে দিন যীশু কাদা করে তার চক্ষু খুলে দেন সেই দিন বিশ্রামবার ছিল।
15 The Pharisees again asked him how he had received his sight, and he said to them, “He put mud on my eyes, and I washed, and now I see.”
১৫তখন আবার ফরীশীরাও তাকে জিজ্ঞাসা করতে লাগল, কিভাবে সে দৃষ্টি পেল? সে তাদেরকে বলল, তিনি আমার চোখের উপরে কাদা লাগিয়ে দিলেন, পরে আমি ধুইয়ে ফেললাম এবং আমি এখন দেখতে পাচ্ছি।
16 Then some of the Pharisees were saying, “This man is not from God, for he does not keep the Sabbath.” But others were saying, “How can a sinful man do such signs?” And a division arose among them.
১৬তখন কয়েক জন ফরীশী বলল, এই মানুষটি ঈশ্বর থেকে আসেনি, কারণ সে বিশ্রামবার মেনে চলে না। অন্যেরা বলল, কেমন করে একজন পাপী মানুষ এই সব আশ্চর্য্য কাজ করতে পারে? সুতরাং তাদের মধ্যে বিভেদ তৈরী হল।
17 So they said to the blind man again, “What do yoʋ say about him, since he opened yoʋr eyes?” The man said, “He is a prophet.”
১৭সুতরাং তারা আবার সেই অন্ধকে জিজ্ঞাসা করলো, তুমি তার সম্পর্কে কি বল? কারণ সে তোমার চক্ষু খুলে দিয়েছে। সেই অন্ধ মানুষটি বলল তিনি একজন ভবিষ্যৎ বক্তা।
18 Now the Jews did not believe that the man had been blind and had received his sight until they called in his parents.
১৮ইহূদিরা তখনও তার সম্পর্কে বিশ্বাস করল না যে, সে অন্ধ ছিল আর দৃষ্টি পেয়েছে যতক্ষণ না তারা ঐ দৃষ্টিপ্রাপ্ত মানুষটির বাবা মাকে ডেকে তাদের কাছে জিজ্ঞাসা করল।
19 They asked them, “Is this your son, who you say was born blind? How then does he now see?”
১৯তারা তার বাবা মাকে জিজ্ঞাসা করলো, একি তোমাদের পুত্র যার সম্পর্কে তোমরা বলে থাক এ অন্ধই জন্মেছিল? তবে এখন কিভাবে সে দেখতে পাচ্ছে?
20 His parents answered them, “We know that this is our son and that he was born blind.
২০তার বাবা মা উত্তর দিয়ে তাদের বলল, আমরা জানি এই হলো আমাদের ছেলে এবং সে অন্ধই জন্মেছিল,
21 But how he can now see or who opened his eyes, we do not know. He is of age; ask him. He will speak for himself.”
২১এখন কিভাবে দেখতে পাচ্ছে তা আমরা জানি না এবং কে বা এর চক্ষু খুলে দিয়েছে তাও আমরা জানি না; তাকেই জিজ্ঞাসা করুন, এখন তো ওর বয়স হয়েছে। নিজের কথা নিজে বলতে পারে।
22 (His parents said this because they were afraid of the Jews, for the Jews had already agreed that if anyone should confess that Jesus was the Christ, he would be put out of the synagogue.
২২তার বাবা মা ইহূদিদের এই কথা বলল কারণ তারা তাদের ভয় করত। কারণ ইহূদিরা আগেই ঠিক করেছিল কেউ যদি যীশুকে খ্রীষ্ট বলে স্বীকার করে তবে তাদেরকে সমাজ থেকে বের করে দেওয়া হবে।
23 That is why his parents said, “He is of age; ask him.”)
২৩এই সব কারণে তার বাবা মা বলল, সে পূর্ণ বয়ষ্ক তাঁকেই জিজ্ঞাসা করুন।
24 So for a second time they called in the man who had been blind and said to him, “Give glory to God! We know that this man is a sinner.”
২৪সুতরাং তারা দ্বিতীয়বার সেই অন্ধ মানুষকে ডেকে তাকে বলল ঈশ্বরকে গৌরব কর। আমরা জানি যে সে একজন পাপী।
25 He answered, “Whether he is a sinner or not, I do not know; one thing I know, that though I was blind, now I see.”
২৫তখন সেই মানুষটি উত্তর দিল, তিনি পাপী কি না আমি তা জানি না। একটা জিনিস জানি যে আমি অন্ধ ছিলাম এবং এখন আমি দেখতে পাচ্ছি।
26 Again they said to him, “What did he do to yoʋ? How did he open yoʋr eyes?”
২৬তারা তাকে বলল, সে তোমার সঙ্গে কি করেছিল? কিভাবে সে তোমার চক্ষু খুলে দিল?
27 He answered them, “I told you already, and you did not listen. Why do you want to hear it again? Do you also want to become his disciples?”
২৭সে উত্তর দিল, আমি একবার আপনাদেরকে বলেছি এবং আপনারা শোনেন নি; তবে কেন আবার সেই কথা শুনতে চাইছেন? আপনারা তো তাঁর শিষ্য হতে চান না, আপনারা কি হতে চাইছেন?
28 Then they reviled him and said, “Yoʋ are a disciple of that man, but we are disciples of Moses.
২৮তখন তারা তাকে গালিগালাজ করে বলল, তুই হলি তার শিষ্য কিন্তু আমরা হলাম মোশির শিষ্য।
29 We know that God has spoken to Moses, but as for this man, we do not know where he is from.”
২৯আমরা জানি যে ঈশ্বর মোশির সঙ্গে কথা বলেছিলেন কিন্তু এ কোথা থেকে এসেছে তা আমরা জানি না।
30 The man answered them, “Why, this is an amazing thing, that you do not know where he is from, and yet he opened my eyes!
৩০সেই মানুষটি উত্তর দিল এবং তাদেরকে বলল, এটাই হলো একটা আশ্চর্য্য জিনিস যে, তিনি কোথা থেকে আসলেন আপনারা তা জানেন না তবুও তিনি আমার চক্ষু খুলে দিয়েছেন।
31 We know that God does not listen to sinners, but he does listen to anyone who is devout and does his will.
৩১আমরা জানি যে ঈশ্বর পাপীদের কথা শোনেন না, কিন্তু যদি কোন মানুষ ঈশ্বরের ভক্ত হয় এবং তাঁর ইচ্ছা মেনে চলে, ঈশ্বর তার কথা শোনেন।
৩২পৃথিবীর পূর্বকাল থেকে কখনও শোনা যায় নি যে, কোনো মানুষ জন্ম থেকে অন্ধ তাকে চক্ষু খুলে দিয়েছে। (aiōn g165)
33 If this man were not from God, he could do nothing.”
৩৩যদি এই মানুষটি ঈশ্বর থেকে না আসতেন, তবে তিনি কিছুই করতে পারতেন না।
34 They answered him, “Yoʋ were born entirely in sin, and yet yoʋ are trying to teach us?” And they threw him out.
৩৪তারা উত্তর দিয়ে তাকে বলল, তুই একেবারে পাপেই জন্ম নিয়েছিস, আর তুই আমাদের শিক্ষা দিচ্ছিস? তখন তারা তাকে সমাজ থেকে বের করে দিল।
35 Jesus heard that they had thrown him out, so he found the man and said to him, “Do yoʋ believe in the Son of God?”
৩৫যীশু শুনলেন যে, তারা তাকে সমাজ থেকে বের করে দিয়েছে। আর তিনি তার দেখা পেয়ে বললেন, তুমি কি মনুষ্যপুত্রকে বিশ্বাস কর?
36 He answered, “Who is he, Lord, that I may believe in him?”
৩৬সে উত্তর দিয়ে বলল, তিনি কে প্রভু? আমি যেন তাঁতে বিশ্বাস করি?
37 Jesus said to him, “Yoʋ have seen him, and the one speaking with yoʋ is he.”
৩৭যীশু তাকে বললেন, “তুমি তাঁকে দেখেছ এবং তিনি হলেন যিনি তোমার সঙ্গে কথা বলছেন।”
38 The man said, “I believe, Lord.” And he worshiped him.
৩৮সেই মানুষটি বলল, আমি বিশ্বাস করি প্রভু; তখন সে তাঁকে প্রণাম করল।
39 Then Jesus said, “For judgment I have come into this world, so that those who do not see may see, and those who see may become blind.”
৩৯তখন যীশু বললেন, বিচারের জন্য আমি এই পৃথিবীতে এসেছি, যেন যারা দেখতে পায় না তারা দেখতে পায় এবং যারা দেখে তারা যেন অন্ধ হয়।
40 Some of the Pharisees who were with him heard this and said to him, “We are not also blind, are we?”
৪০ফরীশীদের মধ্যে থেকে যারা তাঁর সঙ্গে ছিল তারা এই সব কথা শুনে তাঁকে জিজ্ঞাসা করলো, আমরাও কি অন্ধ?
41 Jesus said to them, “If you were blind, you would have no sin, but now you say, ‘We see.’ Therefore your sin remains.
৪১যীশু তাদেরকে বললেন, যদি তোমরা অন্ধ হতে তবে তোমাদের হয়ত পাপ থাকত না। যদিও এখন তোমরা বলছ যে, আমরা দেখতে পাই সুতরাং তোমাদের পাপ আছে।
