< John 5 >

1 After this came the feast of the Jews, so Jesus went up to Jerusalem.
Thuutha wa maũndũ macio Jesũ nĩambatire Jerusalemu tondũ nĩ kwarĩ na gĩathĩ kĩa Ayahudi.
2 Now in Jerusalem by the Sheep Gate there is a pool, called Bethesda in Hebrew, which has five porticoes.
Na rĩrĩ, kũu Jerusalemu hakuhĩ na Kĩhingo-kĩa-Ngʼondu nĩ kwarĩ na karia geetagwo na Kĩhibirania Bethesida, nako gaathiũrũrũkĩirio nĩ ithaku ithano ciarĩ ngite.
3 In the porticoes were lying a great multitude of disabled people, including the blind, the lame, and the paralyzed, who were waiting for the moving of the water.
Kũu nĩkuo gwakomagwo nĩ ikundi nene cia andũ arĩa maarĩ arũaru, ta atumumu, na cionje, na arĩa maakuĩte ciĩga (meetereire maaĩ moinjugwo.
4 For at times an angel would go down into the pool and stir up the water. The first person who stepped in after the water was stirred up was healed of whatever disease he had.
Nĩgũkorwo nĩ kũrĩ hĩndĩ mũraika wa Mwathani aikũrũkaga akoinjuga maaĩ karia-inĩ kau; na mũndũ wa mbere kũrika kuo maaĩ moinjugwo, nĩahonagio mũrimũ o wothe ũrĩa aarĩ naguo.)
5 One man was there who had been suffering in his disability for thirty-eight years.
Na hau nĩ haarĩ mũndũ ũmwe watũũrĩte arĩ mũrũaru mĩaka mĩrongo ĩtatũ na ĩnana.
6 When Jesus saw him lying there, knowing that he had been in that condition for a long time already, he said to him, “Do yoʋ want to be made well?”
Hĩndĩ ĩrĩa Jesũ aamuonire akomete hau, na akĩmenya atĩ atũũrĩte ũguo ihinda iraaya, akĩmũũria atĩrĩ, “Nĩũkwenda kũhonio?”
7 The disabled man answered him, “Sir, I have no one to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up, but while I am going, another goes down before me.”
8 Jesus said to him, “Rise, pick up yoʋr mat, and walk.”
Nake Jesũ akĩmwĩra atĩrĩ, “Ũkĩra, oya kĩbarĩ gĩaku, wĩtware!”
9 Immediately the man was made well, so he picked up his mat and began to walk. Now that day was a Sabbath.
10 So the Jews said to the man who had been healed, “It is the Sabbath; it is not lawful for yoʋ to pick up yoʋr mat.”
na nĩ ũndũ ũcio Ayahudi makĩĩra mũndũ ũcio wahonetio atĩrĩ, “Ũmũthĩ nĩ mũthenya wa Thabatũ; watho ndũgwĩtĩkĩrĩtie ũkuue kĩbarĩ gĩaku.”
11 He answered them, “The man who made me well said to me, ‘Pick up yoʋr mat and walk.’”
Nowe akĩmacookeria atĩrĩ, “Mũndũ ũrĩa ũũhonirie anjĩĩrire atĩrĩ, ‘Oya kĩbarĩ gĩaku, wĩtware.’”
12 So they asked him, “Who is the man who said to yoʋ, ‘Pick up yoʋr mat and walk’?”
Nĩ ũndũ ũcio makĩmũũria atĩrĩ, “Mũndũ ũcio ũkwĩrire woe kĩbarĩ wĩtware nũũ?”
13 But the man who had been healed did not know who it was, for Jesus had slipped away, since there was a crowd in that place.
Mũndũ ũcio wahonetio ndaamenyaga nũũ wamũhonetie, tondũ Jesũ aakoretwo orĩire kĩrĩndĩ-inĩ kĩrĩa kĩarĩ hau.
14 After this Jesus found the man in the temple courts and said to him, “Behold, yoʋ have been made well; do not sin anymore, lest something worse happen to yoʋ.”
Thuutha ũcio Jesũ akĩmũkora hekarũ-inĩ, akĩmwĩra atĩrĩ, “One, rĩu nĩũhonete. Ndũgacooke kwĩhia ndũkae gũkorwo nĩ ũndũ mũũru kũrĩ ũcio.”
15 Then the man went and told the Jews that it was Jesus who had made him well.
Nake mũndũ ũcio agĩthiĩ na akĩĩra Ayahudi atĩ Jesũ nĩwe wamũhonetie.
16 So the Jews began persecuting Jesus and seeking to kill him, because he was doing these things on the Sabbath.
Nĩ ũndũ ũcio, Ayahudi makĩnyariira Jesũ, tondũ ekĩte maũndũ macio mũthenya wa Thabatũ.
17 But Jesus responded to them, “My Father is still working even now, and I too am working.”
Nake Jesũ akĩmeera atĩrĩ, “Baba atũũrĩte o arĩ wĩra-inĩ wake nginya rĩu, na o na niĩ no ndĩraruta wĩra.”
18 So the Jews were seeking all the more to kill him, because not only was he breaking the Sabbath, but he was even calling God his own Father, making himself equal with God.
Nĩ ũndũ wa gĩtũmi kĩu, Ayahudi magĩkĩrĩrĩria kũgeria kũmũũraga; nĩgũkorwo to mũthenya wa Thabatũ aathũkagia, no o na nginya nĩetaga Ngai ithe wake mwene, na ũguo akeiganania na Ngai.
19 So Jesus responded to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing on his own, but only what he sees the Father doing. For whatever the Father does, the Son also does in the same way.
Nake Jesũ akĩmacookeria atĩrĩ, “Ngũmwĩra atĩrĩ na ma, Mũriũ ndarĩ ũndũ angĩĩka we mwene, tiga o ũrĩa onaga Ithe agĩĩka, nĩgũkorwo maũndũ marĩa Ithe ekaga no mo Mũriũ o nake ekaga.
20 For the Father loves the Son and shows him all that he himself does. And he will show him greater works than these, so that you will be amazed.
Nĩgũkorwo Ithe nĩendete Mũriũ, na nĩamuonagia maũndũ mothe marĩa ekaga, Ĩĩ, na nĩakamuonia maũndũ manene o na gũkĩra maya, nĩgeetha o na inyuĩ mũgege.
21 For just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, so also the Son gives life to whomever he wishes.
O ta ũrĩa Ithe ariũkagia andũ arĩa akuũ akamahe muoyo, noguo o nake Mũriũ aheaga muoyo o ũrĩa angĩenda kũhe.
22 The Father judges no one, but has given all judgment to the Son,
Na ningĩ-rĩ, ithe ndarĩ mũndũ atuagĩra ciira, no ehokeire Mũriũ ũtuanĩri wothe wa ciira,
23 so that all may honor the Son just as they honor the Father. Anyone who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent him.
nĩgeetha andũ othe matĩĩage Mũriũ o ta ũrĩa matĩĩaga Ithe. Ũrĩa ũtatĩĩaga Mũriũ ndatĩĩaga Ithe ũrĩa wamũtũmire.
24 Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.
25 “Truly, truly, I say to you, an hour is coming, and is now here, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear it will live.
26 For as the Father has life in himself, so he has granted the Son to have life in himself.
Nĩgũkorwo o ta ũrĩa Ithe arĩ na muoyo thĩinĩ wake mwene, no taguo ahotithĩtie Mũriũ kũgĩa na muoyo thĩinĩ wake mwene.
27 And he has given the Son authority to execute judgment, because he is the Son of Man.
28 Do not be amazed at this, because an hour is coming in which all who are in the tombs will hear his voice
“Mũtikagegio nĩ ũhoro ũcio, nĩgũkorwo ihinda nĩrĩroka rĩrĩa andũ arĩa othe marĩ mbĩrĩra-inĩ makaigua mũgambo wake
29 and come out, those who have done good to a resurrection of life, and those who have done evil to a resurrection of judgment.
na moime kuo, arĩa mekĩte wega mariũke nĩguo matũũre muoyo, nao arĩa mekĩte ũũru mariũke nĩguo matuĩrwo ciira.
30 “I can do nothing on my own. As I hear, I judge, and my judgment is just, because I seek not my own will, but the will of the Father who sent me.
Ndirĩ ũndũ ingĩhota gwĩka niĩ mwene; nduanagĩra ciira kũringana na ũrĩa njiguaga, na itua rĩakwa nĩ rĩa kĩhooto, nĩgũkorwo ndicaragia gwĩkenia niĩ mwene, tiga gũkenia ũrĩa wandũmire.
31 “If I testify about myself, my testimony is not valid.
“Ingĩheana ũira ũngoniĩ niĩ mwene-rĩ, ũira ũcio wakwa ndũngĩtuĩka wa ma.
32 There is another who testifies about me, and I know that the testimony he gives about me is true.
33 You have sent to John, and he has testified to the truth.
“Inyuĩ nĩmwatũmanire kũrĩ Johana, nake nĩaheanire ũira wa ma.
34 Now I do not receive testimony from man, but I say these things so that you may be saved.
Ti atĩ nĩnjĩtĩkagĩra ũira wa mũndũ; no nĩndĩũgwetaga nĩgeetha mũhonokio.
35 John was a burning and shining lamp, and you were willing to rejoice for an hour in his light.
36 But I have testimony greater than John's. For the works that the Father has given me to accomplish, the very works that I am doing, testify that the Father has sent me.
“Niĩ ndĩ na ũira mũnene gũkĩra ũcio wa Johana. Nĩgũkorwo wĩra ũrĩa Baba aaheete ndĩĩkie, na noguo ndĩraruta, nĩguo uumbũraga atĩ Baba nĩwe ũndũmĩte.
37 And the Father who sent me has himself testified about me. You have neither heard his voice at any time nor seen his form.
Nake Baba ũrĩa wandũmire nĩaheanĩte ũira ũngoniĩ we mwene. Inyuĩ mũtirĩ mwaigua mũgambo wake kana mũkona ũrĩa atariĩ,
38 And you do not have his word abiding in you, for you do not believe him whom he sent.
o na kiugo gĩake gĩtitũũraga thĩinĩ wanyu, tondũ mũtiĩtĩkĩtie ũrĩa aatũmire.
39 You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life, and it is these that testify about me, (aiōnios g166)
40 yet you are not willing to come to me so that you may have life.
no nĩmũregaga gũũka kũrĩ niĩ mũgĩe na muoyo.
41 I do not receive glory from men.
“Niĩ ndiĩtĩkagĩra ũgooci kuuma kũrĩ andũ,
42 But I know that you do not have the love of God within you.
no inyuĩ nĩndĩmũũĩ.
43 I have come in the name of my Father, and yet you do not receive me. If another comes in his own name, you will receive him.
44 How can you believe when you receive glory from one another but do not seek the glory that comes from the one and only God?
Mũngĩtĩkia atĩa angĩkorwo mwĩtĩkagĩra ũgooci kuuma kũrĩ andũ arĩa angĩ, no mũticaragia ũgooci ũrĩa uumaga kũrĩ Ngai o ũcio ũmwe?
45 Do not think that I will accuse you before the Father. The one who accuses you is Moses, in whom you have set your hope.
“No mũtigeciirie atĩ nĩngamũthitanga mbere ya Baba. Musa ũrĩa inyuĩ mwĩhokeete nĩwe mũmũthitangi.
46 If you had believed Moses, you would believe me, for he wrote about me.
Korwo nĩmwĩtĩkĩtie Musa-rĩ, no mũnjĩtĩkie, nĩgũkorwo nĩ ũhoro wakwa aandĩkire.
47 But if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe my words?”
No kuona atĩ mũtiĩtĩkĩtie ũrĩa aandĩkire-rĩ, mũngĩgĩtĩkia atĩa ũrĩa njugaga?”
