John 21
1 After this Jesus again manifested himself to the disciples, by the Sea of Tiberias. He manifested himself in this way:
ⲁ̅ⲙⲛ̅ⲛ̅ⲥⲁⲛⲁⲓ̈ ⲟⲛ ⲁⲓ̅ⲥ̅ ⲟⲩⲟⲛϩϥ̅ ⲉⲛⲉϥⲙⲁⲑⲏⲧⲏⲥ ϩⲓϫⲛ̅ⲑⲁⲗⲁⲥⲥⲁ ⲛ̅ⲧⲓⲃⲉⲣⲓⲁⲥ. ⲛ̅ⲧⲁϥⲟⲩⲟⲛϩϥ̅ ⲇⲉ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲛ̅ⲧⲉⲓ̈ϩⲉ.
2 Simon Peter, Thomas (called Didymus), Nathanael (from Cana of Galilee), the sons of Zebedee, and two of Jesus' other disciples were together.
ⲃ̅ⲛⲉⲩϣⲟⲟⲡ ϩⲓⲟⲩⲥⲟⲡ ⲡⲉ ⲛ̅ϭⲓⲥⲓⲙⲱⲛ ⲡⲉⲧⲣⲟⲥ ⲛⲙ̅ⲑⲱⲙⲁⲥ ⲡⲉϣⲁⲩⲙⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ϫⲉ ⲇⲓⲇⲩⲙⲟⲥ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛⲁⲑⲁⲛⲁⲏⲗ ⲡⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛ̅ⲕⲁⲛⲁ ⲛ̅ⲧⲅⲁⲗⲓⲗⲁⲓⲁ ⲛⲙ̅ⲛ̅ϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲛ̅ⲍⲉⲃⲉⲇⲁⲓⲟⲥ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲕⲉⲥⲛⲁⲩ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛ̅ⲛⲉϥⲙⲁⲑⲏⲧⲏⲥ.
3 Simon Peter said to them, “I am going fishing.” They said to him, “We will go with yoʋ.” So they immediately went out and got into the boat, but that night they caught nothing.
ⲅ̅ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲛⲁⲩ ⲛ̅ϭⲓⲥⲓⲙⲱⲛ ⲡⲉⲧⲣⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ϯⲛⲁⲃⲱⲕ ⲉϭⲉⲡⲧⲃⲧ̅. ⲡⲉϫⲁⲩ ⲛⲁϥ. ϫⲉ ⲧⲛ̅ⲛⲏⲩ ϩⲱⲱⲛ ⲛⲙ̅ⲙⲁⲕ. ⲁⲩⲉ͡ⲓ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲁⲩⲁⲗⲉ ⲉⲡϫⲟⲉⲓ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲙ̅ⲡⲟⲩϭⲉⲡⲗⲁⲁⲩ ϩⲛ̅ⲧⲉⲩϣⲏ ⲉⲧⲙ̅ⲙⲁⲩ.
4 When daybreak came, Jesus stood on the shore, but the disciples did not know it was Jesus.
ⲇ̅ⲛ̅ⲧⲉⲣⲉϩⲧⲟⲟⲩⲉ ⲇⲉ ϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲁⲓ̅ⲥ̅ ⲁϩⲉⲣⲁⲧϥ ϩⲓⲡⲉⲕⲣⲟ. ⲙ̅ⲡⲟⲩⲓ̈ⲙⲉ ⲇⲉ ⲛ̅ϭⲓⲙ̅ⲙⲁⲑⲏⲧⲏⲥ ϫⲉ ⲓ̅ⲥ̅ ⲡⲉ.
5 Jesus said to them, “Children, have you caught any fish to eat?” They answered him, “No.”
ⲉ̅ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲁⲩ ⲛ̅ϭⲓⲓ̅ⲥ̅. ϫⲉ ⲛⲉⲓ̈ϣⲏⲣⲉ ϣⲏⲙ. ⲙⲏ ⲟⲩⲛⲗⲁⲁⲩ ⲛ̅ⲧⲃⲧ̅ ⲛ̅ⲧⲉⲧⲏⲩⲧⲛ̅. ⲁⲩⲟⲩⲱϣⲃ̅ ⲛⲁϥ. ϫⲉ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟⲛ.
6 He said to them, “Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some.” So they cast it and were unable to draw it in because of the large number of fish.
ⲋ̅ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲛⲁⲩ. ϫⲉ ⲁⲛⲓⲛⲉ ⲙ̅ⲡⲉⲧⲛ̅ϣⲛⲉ ⲛ̅ⲥⲁⲟⲩⲛⲁⲙ ⲙⲡϫⲟⲉ͡ⲓ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲧⲉⲧⲛⲁϩⲉ ⲉⲟⲩⲟⲛ. ⲛ̅ⲧⲟⲟⲩ ⲇⲉ ⲡⲉϫⲁⲩ ϫⲉ ⲁⲛϣⲡ̅ϩⲓⲥⲉ ⲛ̅ⲧⲉⲩϣⲏ ⲧⲏⲣⲉⲥ ⲙ̅ⲡⲛ̅ϭⲉⲡⲗⲁⲁⲩ. ⲉϫⲙ̅ⲡⲉⲕⲣⲁⲛ ⲇⲉ ⲧⲛ̅ⲛⲁⲛⲟϫϥ̅. ⲁⲩⲛⲟϫϥ̅ ⲇⲉ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲙ̅ⲡⲟⲩⲉϣϭⲙ̅ϭⲟⲙ ⲉⲥⲟⲕϥ̅ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ̈ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛ̅ⲧⲁϣⲏ ⲛ̅ⲧⲃⲧ̅.
7 Then the disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, “It is the Lord!” When Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put on his outer garment (for he had taken it off) and plunged into the sea.
ⲍ̅ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ϭⲉ ⲙ̅ⲡⲉⲧⲣⲟⲥ ⲛ̅ϭⲓⲡⲙⲁⲑⲏⲧⲏⲥ ⲉⲛⲉⲣⲉⲓ̅ⲥ̅ ⲙⲉ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟϥ. ϫⲉ ⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲡⲉ. ⲥⲓⲙⲱⲛ ϭⲉ ⲡⲉⲧⲣⲟⲥ ⲛ̅ⲧⲉⲣⲉϥⲥⲱⲧⲙ̅ ϫⲉ ⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲡⲉ. ⲁϥⲙⲟⲣϥ̅ ⲙ̅ⲡⲉϥⲉⲡⲉⲛⲇⲩⲧⲏⲥ. ⲛⲉϥⲕⲏ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲕⲁϩⲏⲩ ⲡⲉ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁϥϥⲟϭϥ̅ ⲉⲑⲁⲗⲁⲥⲥⲁ.
8 But the other disciples came in the boat, dragging the net full of fish, for they were not far from shore, only about a hundred yards away.
ⲏ̅ⲛ̅ⲕⲉⲙⲁⲑⲏⲧⲏⲥ ⲇⲉ ⲁⲩⲉ͡ⲓ ϩⲓⲡϫⲟⲉ͡ⲓ. ⲛⲉⲩⲟⲩⲏⲟⲩ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲁⲛ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲙ̅ⲡⲉⲕⲣⲟ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲛ̅ⲁϣⲏⲧ ⲙ̅ⲙⲁϩⲉ ⲉⲩⲥⲱⲕ ⲙ̅ⲡⲉϣⲛⲉ ⲛⲛ̅ⲧⲃⲧ̅.
9 When they had gone ashore, they saw a charcoal fire there with a fish lying on it, and bread.
ⲑ̅ⲛ̅ⲧⲉⲣⲟⲩⲙⲟⲟⲛⲉ ⲇⲉ ⲉⲡⲉⲕⲣⲟ. ⲁⲩⲛⲁⲩ ⲉⲩϣⲁϩ ⲉⲣⲉⲟⲩⲧⲃⲧ̅ ϩⲓϫⲱϥ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲟⲩⲟⲓ̈ⲕ ⲉϥⲕⲏ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ̈.
10 Jesus said to them, “Bring some of the fish you have just caught.”
ⲓ̅ⲡⲉϫⲉⲓ̅ⲥ̅ ⲛⲁⲩ. ϫⲉ ⲁⲛⲓⲛⲉ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲛ̅ⲛ̅ⲧⲃⲧ̅ ⲉⲛⲧⲁⲧⲉⲧⲛ̅ϭⲟⲡⲟⲩ ⲧⲉⲛⲟⲩ.
11 So Simon Peter went aboard and drew the net ashore, full of large fish, one hundred fifty-three of them. Although there were so many, the net had not torn.
ⲓ̅ⲁ̅ⲁϥⲁⲗⲉ ⲛ̅ϭⲓⲥⲓⲙⲱⲛ ⲡⲉⲧⲣⲟⲥ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁϥⲥⲱⲕ ⲙ̅ⲡⲉϣⲛⲉ ⲉⲡⲉⲕⲣⲟ ⲉϥⲙⲉϩ ⲛ̅ⲛⲟϭ ⲛ̅ⲧⲃⲧ̅ ⲉⲩⲉ͡ⲓⲣⲉ ⲛ̅ϣⲉ ⲧⲁⲓ̈ⲟⲩ ϣⲟⲙⲧⲉ. ⲁⲩⲱ ⲉⲣⲉⲧⲉⲓ̈ⲁϣⲏ ⲛ̅ⲧⲃⲧ̅ ⲙ̅ⲙⲁⲩ ⲙ̅ⲡⲉⲡⲉϣⲛⲉ ⲡⲱϩ.
12 Then Jesus said to them, “Come eat breakfast.” Now none of the disciples dared to ask him, “Who are yoʋ?” because they knew it was the Lord.
ⲓ̅ⲃ̅ⲡⲉϫⲉⲓ̅ⲥ̅ ⲛⲁⲩ. ϫⲉ ⲁⲙⲏⲉ͡ⲓⲧⲛ̅ ⲛ̅ⲧⲉⲧⲛ̅ⲟⲩⲱⲙ. ⲙ̅ⲡⲉⲗⲁⲁⲩ ⲛ̅ⲙ̅ⲙⲁⲑⲏⲧⲏⲥ ⲧⲟⲗⲙⲁ ⲉϫⲛⲟⲩϥ ϫⲉ ⲛ̅ⲧⲕⲛⲓⲙ ⲉⲩⲥⲟⲟⲩⲛ ϫⲉ ⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲡⲉ.
13 Then Jesus came, took the bread, and gave it to them. He did likewise with the fish.
ⲓ̅ⲅ̅ⲁϥⲉ͡ⲓ ⲛ̅ϭⲓⲓ̅ⲥ̅ ⲁϥϫⲓ ⲙ̅ⲡⲟⲓ̈ⲕ ⲁϥϯ ⲛⲁⲩ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲟⲛ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲙ̅ⲡⲧⲃⲧ̅.
14 This was now the third time that Jesus had been revealed to his disciples after he had been raised from the dead.
ⲓ̅ⲇ̅ⲡⲁⲓ̈ ⲇⲉ ⲡⲉ ⲡⲙⲉϩϣⲟⲙⲛⲧ̅ ⲛ̅ⲥⲟⲡ ⲛ̅ⲧⲁⲓ̅ⲥ̅ ⲟⲩⲟⲛϩϥ̅ ⲉⲛⲉϥⲙⲁⲑⲏⲧⲏⲥ ⲛ̅ⲧⲉⲣⲉϥⲧⲱⲟⲩⲛ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛ̅ⲛⲉⲧⲙⲟⲟⲩⲧ.
15 When they had eaten breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon, son of Jonah, do yoʋ love me more than these?” Peter said to him, “Yes, Lord, yoʋ know that I care for yoʋ.” Jesus said to him, “Feed my lambs.”
ⲓ̅ⲉ̅ⲛ̅ⲧⲉⲣⲟⲩⲱⲙ ⲇⲉ. ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲛ̅ϭⲓⲓ̅ⲥ̅ ⲛ̅ⲥⲓⲙⲱⲛ ⲡⲉⲧⲣⲟⲥ. ϫⲉ ⲥⲓⲙⲱⲛ ⲡϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲛ̅ⲓ̈ⲱϩⲁⲛⲛⲏⲥ ⲕⲙⲉ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟⲓ̈ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲉⲛⲁⲓ̈. ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲛⲁϥ ϫⲉ ⲥⲉ ⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ. ⲛ̅ⲧⲟⲕ ⲡⲉⲧⲥⲟⲟⲩⲛ ϫⲉ ϯⲙⲉ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟⲕ. ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲛⲁϥ. ϫⲉ ⲙⲟⲟⲛⲉ ⲛ̅ⲛⲁϩⲓⲓ̈ⲃ.
16 Jesus said to him a second time, “Simon, son of Jonah, do yoʋ love me?” Peter said to him, “Yes, Lord, yoʋ know that I care for yoʋ.” Jesus said to him, “Tend my sheep.”
ⲓ̅ⲋ̅ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲟⲛ ⲛⲁϥ ⲙ̅ⲡⲙⲉϩⲥⲉⲡⲥⲛⲁⲩ. ϫⲉ ⲥⲓⲙⲱⲛ ⲡϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲛ̅ⲓ̈ⲱϩⲁⲛⲛⲏⲥ ⲕⲙⲉ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟⲓ̈. ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲛⲁϥ. ϫⲉ ⲥⲉ ⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ. ⲛ̅ⲧⲟⲕ ⲡⲉⲧⲥⲟⲟⲩⲛ ϫⲉ ϯⲙⲉ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟⲕ. ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲛⲁϥ. ϫⲉ ⲙⲟⲟⲛⲉ ⲛ̅ⲛⲁⲉⲥⲟⲟⲩ.
17 Then Jesus said to him the third time, “Simon, son of Jonah, do yoʋ care for me?” Peter was grieved that Jesus said to him the third time, “Do yoʋ care for me?” And he said to him, “Lord, yoʋ know everything; yoʋ know that I care for yoʋ.” Jesus said to him, “Feed my sheep.
ⲓ̅ⲍ̅ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲛⲁϥ ⲙ̅ⲡⲙⲉϩϣⲟⲙⲛⲧ̅ ⲛ̅ⲥⲟⲡ. ϫⲉ ⲥⲓⲙⲱⲛ ⲡϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲛ̅ⲓ̈ⲱϩⲁⲛⲛⲏⲥ ⲕⲙⲉ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟⲓ̈. ⲁϥⲗⲩⲡⲓ ⲛ̅ϭⲓⲡⲉⲧⲣⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲁϥϫⲟⲟⲥ ⲛⲁϥ ⲙ̅ⲡⲙⲉϩϣⲙⲛⲧ̅ ⲥⲱⲱⲡ ϫⲉ ⲕⲙⲉ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟⲓ̈. ⲁⲩⲱ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲛⲁϥ. ϫⲉ ⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ. ⲕⲥⲟⲟⲩⲛ ⲛ̅ϩⲱⲃ ⲛⲓⲙ. ⲛ̅ⲧⲟⲕ ⲕⲥⲟⲟⲩⲛ ϫⲉ ϯⲙⲉ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟⲕ. ⲡⲉϫⲉⲓ̅ⲥ̅ ⲛⲁϥ. ϫⲉ ⲙⲟⲟⲛⲉ ⲛ̅ⲛⲁⲉⲥⲟⲟⲩ.
18 Truly, truly, I say to yoʋ, when yoʋ were younger, yoʋ would dress yoʋrself and walk wherever yoʋ wanted to go; but when yoʋ grow old, yoʋ will stretch out yoʋr hands, and another will dress yoʋ and bring yoʋ where yoʋ do not want to go.”
ⲓ̅ⲏ̅ϩⲁⲙⲏⲛ ϩⲁⲙⲏⲛ ϯϫⲱ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟⲥ ⲛⲁⲕ ϫⲉ ⲙ̅ⲡⲉⲩⲟⲓ̈ϣ ⲉⲛⲉⲕⲟ ⲛ̅ϣⲏⲣⲉ ϣⲏⲙ. ⲛⲉϣⲁⲕⲙⲟⲣⲕ ⲡⲉ ⲛⲅ̅ⲃⲱⲕ ⲉⲡⲙⲁ ⲉⲧⲕ̅ⲟⲩⲁϣϥ̅. ϩⲟⲧⲁⲛ ⲇⲉ ⲉⲕϣⲁⲛⲣ̅ϩⲗ̅ⲗⲟ. ⲕⲛⲁⲡⲣϣⲛⲉⲕϭⲓϫ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲛ̅ⲧⲉⲕⲉⲟⲩⲁ ⲙⲟⲣⲕ ⲛϥ̅ϫⲓⲧⲕ̅ ⲉⲡⲙⲁ ⲉⲧⲉⲛⲅ̅ⲟⲩⲁϣϥ̅ ⲁⲛ.
19 (He said this to indicate the kind of death by which Peter would glorify God.) After saying this, he said to Peter, “Follow me.”
ⲓ̅ⲑ̅ⲛ̅ⲧⲁϥϫⲉⲡⲁⲓ̈ ⲇⲉ ⲉϥⲥⲏⲙⲁⲛⲉ ϫⲉ ϩⲛ̅ⲁϣ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟⲩ ⲉϥⲛⲁϯⲉⲟⲟⲩ ⲙ̅ⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ. ⲛ̅ⲧⲉⲣⲉϥϫⲉⲡⲁⲓ̈ ⲇⲉ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲛⲁϥ. ϫⲉ ⲟⲩⲁϩⲕ̅ ⲛ̅ⲥⲱⲉⲓ.
20 Then Peter turned around and saw the disciple whom Jesus loved following them (the one who had leaned back on Jesus' chest at the supper and said, “Lord, who is it that is going to betray yoʋ?”)
ⲕ̅ⲁϥⲕⲧⲟϥ ⲛ̅ϭⲓⲡⲉⲧⲣⲟⲥ ⲁϥⲛⲁⲩ ⲉⲡⲙⲁⲑⲏⲧⲏⲥ (ⲉⲛ)ⲉⲣⲉⲓ̅ⲥ̅ ⲙⲉ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟϥ ⲉϥⲟⲩⲏϩ ⲛ̅ⲥⲱϥ ⲡⲁⲓ̈ ⲛ̅ⲧⲁϥⲛⲟϫϥ̅ ϩⲙ̅ⲡⲇⲉⲓⲡⲛⲟⲛ ⲉϫⲛ̅ⲧⲉϥⲙⲉⲥⲧϩⲏⲧ ⲛ̅ⲓ̅ⲥ̅ ⲉϥϫⲱ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟⲥ ⲛⲁϥ ϫⲉ ⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲡⲉⲧⲛⲁⲡⲁⲣⲁⲇⲓⲇⲟⲩ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟⲕ.
21 When Peter saw him, he said to Jesus, “Lord, what about him?”
ⲕ̅ⲁ̅ⲛ̅ⲧⲉⲣⲉⲡⲉⲧⲣⲟⲥ ϭⲉ ⲛⲁⲩ ⲉⲡⲁⲓ̈ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲛ̅ⲓ̅ⲥ̅. ϫⲉ ⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲡⲁⲓ̈ ⲇⲉ ⲛ̅ⲧⲟϥ ⲛⲉ.
22 Jesus said to him, “If I wish for him to remain until I come, what is that to yoʋ? Yoʋ follow me!”
ⲕ̅ⲃ̅ⲡⲉϫⲉⲓ̅ⲥ̅ ⲛⲁϥ. ϫⲉ ⲉⲓ̈ϣⲁⲛⲟⲩⲱϣ ⲉⲧⲣⲉϥϭⲱ ϣⲁⲛϯⲉ͡ⲓ ⲛ̅ⲧⲕ̅ⲛⲓⲙ ⲛ̅ⲧⲟⲕ ⲟⲩⲁϩⲕ ⲛ̅ⲥⲱⲉ͡ⲓ ⲛ̅ⲧⲟⲕ.
23 So the rumor spread among the brothers that this disciple would not die. Yet Jesus did not tell him that he would not die; he only said, “If I wish for him to remain until I come, what is that to yoʋ?”
ⲕ̅ⲅ̅ⲁⲡⲉⲉ͡ⲓϣⲁϫⲉ ϭⲉ ⲉ͡ⲓ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛ̅ⲛⲉⲥⲛⲏⲩ ϫⲉ ⲙ̅ⲡⲙⲁⲑⲏⲧⲏⲥ ⲉⲧⲙ̅ⲙⲁⲩ ⲛⲁⲙⲟⲩ ⲁⲛ. ⲛ̅ⲧⲁϥϫⲟⲟⲥ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲁϥ ⲁⲛ ⲛ̅ϭⲓⲓ̅ⲥ̅ ϫⲉ ⲛϥ̅ⲛⲁⲙⲟⲩ ⲁⲛ. ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲉⲓ̈ϣⲁⲛⲟⲩⲱϣ ⲉⲧⲣⲉϥϭⲱ ϣⲁⲛϯⲉⲓ ⲛ̅ⲧⲕⲛⲓⲙ ⲛ̅ⲧⲟⲕ.
24 This is the disciple who is testifying about these things and who has written these things, and we know that his testimony is true.
ⲕ̅ⲇ̅ⲡⲁⲓ̈ ⲡⲉ ⲡⲙⲁⲑⲏⲧⲏⲥ ⲉⲧⲣ̅ⲙⲛ̅ⲧⲣⲉ ⲉⲧⲃⲉⲛⲁⲓ̈ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲡⲉⲛⲧⲁϥⲥⲉϩⲛⲁⲓ̈. ⲁⲩⲱ ⲧⲛ̅ⲥⲟⲟⲩⲛ ϫⲉ ⲟⲩⲙⲉ ⲧⲉ ⲧⲉϥⲙⲛⲧ̅ⲙⲛ̅ⲧⲣⲉ.
25 There are also many other things that Jesus did. If every one of them were to be written down, I suppose that not even the world itself would have room for the books that would be written. Amen.
