< John 2 >
1 On the third day there was a wedding in Cana of Galilee, and Jesus' mother was there.
ⲁ̅ⲁⲩⲱ ϩⲙ̅ⲡⲙⲉϩϣⲟⲙⲛ̅ⲧ ⲛ̅ϩⲟⲟⲩ ⲁⲩϣⲉⲗⲉⲉⲧ ϣⲱⲡⲉ ϩⲛ̅ⲕⲁⲛⲁ ⲛ̅ⲧⲅⲁⲗⲓⲗⲁⲓⲁ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛⲉⲣⲉⲧⲙⲁⲁⲩ ⲛ̅ⲓ̅ⲥ̅ ⲙ̅ⲙⲁⲩ.
2 Jesus was also invited to the wedding, and so were his disciples.
ⲃ̅ⲁⲩⲧⲱϩⲙ̅ ⲇⲉ ϩⲱⲱϥ ⲛ̅ⲓ̅ⲥ̅ ⲛⲙ̅ⲛⲉϥⲙⲁⲑⲏⲧⲏⲥ ⲉⲧϣⲉⲗⲉⲉⲧ.
3 When the wine ran out, Jesus' mother said to him, “They have no wine.”
ⲅ̅ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛ̅ⲧⲉⲣⲟⲩϣⲱⲱⲧ ⲛ̅ⲏⲣⲡ. ⲡⲉϫⲉⲧⲙⲁⲁⲩ ⲛ̅ⲓ̅ⲥ̅ ⲛⲁϥ. ϫⲉ ⲙ̅ⲙⲛ̅ⲧⲟⲩⲏⲣⲡ̅ ⲙ̅ⲙⲁⲩ.
4 Jesus said to her, “Woman, what concern is that to yoʋ or to me? My hour has not yet come.”
ⲇ̅ⲡⲉϫⲉⲓ̅ⲥ̅ ⲛⲁⲥ. ϫⲉ ⲧⲉⲥϩⲓⲙⲉ ⲉⲣⲉⲟⲩⲉϣⲟⲩ ⲛⲙ̅ⲙⲁⲓ̈ ⲙ̅ⲡⲁⲧⲉⲧⲁⲟⲩⲛⲟⲩ ⲉ͡ⲓ.
5 But his mother said to the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.”
ⲉ̅ⲡⲉϫⲉⲧⲉϥⲙⲁⲁⲩ ⲛ̅ⲛⲉⲧⲟⲩⲱⲧϩ̅. ϫⲉ ⲡⲉⲧϥ̅ⲛⲁϫⲟⲟϥ ⲛⲏⲧⲛ̅ ⲁⲣⲓϥ.
6 Now six stone water jars had been set there for the Jewish rites of purification, each holding twenty to thirty gallons.
ⲋ̅ⲛⲉⲩⲛ̅ⲥⲟ ⲇⲉ ⲛ̅ϩⲩⲇⲣⲓⲁ ⲛ̅ⲱⲛⲉ ⲉⲩⲕⲏ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲉ͡ⲓ ⲙ̅ⲙⲁⲩ ⲕⲁⲧⲁⲡⲧⲃ̅ⲃⲟ ⲛ̅ⲓ̈ⲟⲩⲇⲁⲓ̈ ⲉⲣⲉⲧⲟⲩⲉ͡ⲓ ⲧⲟⲩⲉ͡ⲓ ϣⲱⲡ ⲙ̅ⲙⲉⲧⲣⲏⲧⲏⲥ ⲥⲛⲁⲩ ⲏ ϣⲟⲙⲛⲧ̅.
7 Jesus said to the servants, “Fill the jars with water.” So they filled them up to the brim.
ⲍ̅ⲡⲉϫⲉⲓ̅ⲥ̅ ⲛⲁⲩ. ϫⲉ ⲙⲉϩⲛ̅ϩⲩⲇⲣⲓⲁ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟⲟⲩ. ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁⲩⲙⲁϩⲟⲩ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲉⲣⲱⲟⲩ.
8 Then he said to them, “Now draw some out and take it to the master of the feast.” So they took it,
ⲏ̅ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲛⲁⲩ. ϫⲉ ⲟⲩⲱⲧϩ̅ ⲧⲉⲛⲟⲩ ⲛ̅ⲧⲉⲧⲛ̅ⲉ͡ⲓⲛⲉ ⲙ̅ⲡⲁⲣⲭⲓⲧⲣⲓⲕⲗⲓⲛⲟⲥ. ⲛ̅ⲧⲟⲟⲩ ⲇⲉ ⲁⲩⲉ͡ⲓⲛⲉ.
9 and the master of the feast tasted the water, which had been turned into wine. He did not know where it had come from, but the servants who had drawn the water knew. Then the master of the feast called the bridegroom aside
ⲑ̅ⲛ̅ⲧⲉⲣⲉⲡⲁⲣⲭⲓⲧⲣⲓⲕⲗⲓⲛⲟⲥ ⲇⲉ ⲧⲱⲡⲉ ⲙ̅ⲡⲙⲟⲟⲩ ⲉⲁϥⲣ̅ⲏⲣⲡ̅ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛⲉϥⲥⲟⲟⲩⲛ ⲁⲛ ⲡⲉ ϫⲉ ⲟⲩⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲧⲱⲛ ⲡⲉ. ⲛ̅ⲣⲉϥⲟⲩⲱⲧϩ̅ ⲇⲉ ⲛ̅ⲧⲟⲟⲩ ⲉⲛⲧⲁⲩⲙⲉϩⲙ̅ⲙⲟⲟⲩ ⲛⲉⲩⲥⲟⲟⲩⲛ ⲡⲉ. ⲁⲡⲁⲣⲭⲓⲧⲣⲓⲕⲗⲓⲛⲟⲥ ⲙⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲉⲡⲁⲧϣⲉⲗⲉⲉⲧ
10 and said to him, “Everyone else serves the good wine first, and then the inferior wine after the guests have drunk freely; but yoʋ have kept the good wine until now.”
ⲓ̅ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲛⲁϥ. ϫⲉ ⲣⲱⲙⲉ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲉϣⲁⲩⲕⲁⲡⲏⲣⲡ̅ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ̈ ⲉⲧⲛⲁⲛⲟⲩϥ ⲛ̅ϣⲟⲣⲡ̅ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲉⲩϣⲁⲛϯϩⲉ ϣⲁⲩⲕⲁⲡⲉⲧϭⲟϫⲃ̅. ⲛ̅ⲧⲟⲕ ⲇⲉ ⲁⲕⲁⲣⲉϩ ⲉⲡⲏⲣⲡ ⲉⲧⲛⲁⲛⲟⲩϥ ϣⲁϩⲣⲁⲓ̈ ⲉⲧⲉⲛⲟⲩ.
11 Jesus did this in Cana of Galilee as the first of his signs. He revealed his glory, and his disciples believed in him.
ⲓ̅ⲁ̅ⲡⲁⲓ̈ ⲡⲉ ⲡϣⲟⲣⲡ̅ ⲙ̅ⲙⲁⲓ̈ⲛ ⲉⲛⲧⲁⲓ̅ⲥ̅ ⲁⲁϥ ϩⲛ̅ⲕⲁⲛⲁ ⲛ̅ⲧⲅⲁⲗⲓⲗⲁⲓⲁ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁϥⲟⲩⲱⲛϩ̅ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲙ̅ⲡⲉϥⲉⲟⲟⲩ ⲁⲩⲡⲓⲥⲧⲉⲩⲉ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ⲛ̅ϭⲓⲛⲉϥⲙⲁⲑⲏⲧⲏⲥ·
12 After this he went down to Capernaum with his mother, his brothers, and his disciples, and they stayed there for a few days.
ⲓ̅ⲃ̅ⲙⲛ̅ⲛ̅ⲥⲁⲡⲁⲓ̈ ⲁϥⲉ͡ⲓ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ̈ ⲉⲕⲁⲫⲁⲣⲛⲁⲟⲩⲙ ⲛ̅ⲧⲟϥ ⲛⲙ̅ⲧⲉϥⲙⲁⲁⲩ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛⲉϥⲥⲛⲏⲩ ⲛⲙ̅ⲛⲉϥⲙⲁⲑⲏⲧⲏⲥ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁⲩϭⲱ ⲙ̅ⲙⲁⲩ ⲛ̅ϩⲉⲛⲕⲟⲩⲉ͡ⲓ ⲛ̅ϩⲟⲟⲩ.
13 Now the Passover of the Jews was near, so Jesus went up to Jerusalem.
ⲓ̅ⲅ̅ⲛⲉϥϩⲏⲛ ⲇⲉ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲛ ⲛ̅ϭⲓⲡⲡⲁⲥⲭⲁ ⲛ̅ⲓ̈ⲟⲩⲇⲁⲓ̈. ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁⲓ̅ⲥ̅ ⲃⲱⲕ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ̈ ⲉⲑⲓⲉⲣⲟⲥⲟⲗⲩⲙⲁ
14 In the temple courts he found those who were selling oxen, sheep, and doves, and he also found the money changers sitting at their tables.
ⲓ̅ⲇ̅ⲁϥϩⲉ ⲉⲣⲟⲟⲩ ϩⲙ̅ⲡⲉⲣⲡⲉ ⲉⲩϯ ⲉϩⲉ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲁⲩⲱ ϭⲣⲟⲟⲙⲡⲉ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛⲉⲧⲣⲁⲡⲉⲍⲓⲧⲏⲥ ⲉⲩϩⲙⲟⲟⲥ.
15 So he made a whip of cords and drove them all out of the temple courts, along with their sheep and oxen. He also poured out the coins of the money changers and overturned their tables.
ⲓ̅ⲉ̅ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁϥⲧⲁⲙⲓⲉⲟⲩⲙⲁⲥⲧⲓⲅⲝ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛ̅ϩⲉⲛⲛⲟⲩϩ ⲁϥⲛⲉϫⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲙ̅ⲡⲉⲣⲡⲉ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛⲉⲥⲟⲟⲩ ⲛⲙ̅ⲛⲉϩⲟⲟⲩ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁϥⲡⲱϩⲧ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲛ̅ⲛ̅ϩⲟⲙⲛⲧ̅ ⲛ̅ⲣ̅ⲣⲉϥϫⲓⲕⲟⲗⲩⲙⲃⲟⲛ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁϥϣⲟⲣϣⲣ̅ ⲛ̅ⲛⲉⲩⲧⲣⲁⲡⲉⲍⲁ.
16 Then he said to those who were selling doves, “Take these things away from here; stop making my Father's house a marketplace.”
ⲓ̅ⲋ̅ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲛ̅ⲛⲉⲧϯ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲛ̅ⲛⲉϭⲣⲟⲟⲙⲡⲉ. ϫⲉ ϥⲓⲛⲁⲓ̈ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲙ̅ⲡⲉⲓ̈ⲙⲁ. ⲙ̅ⲡⲣ̅ⲉ͡ⲓⲣⲉ ⲙ̅ⲡⲏⲉ͡ⲓ ⲙ̅ⲡⲁⲉ͡ⲓⲱⲧ ⲛ̅ⲏⲉ͡ⲓ ⲙ̅ⲙⲁ ⲛ̅ⲉϣⲱⲧ.
17 And his disciples remembered that it is written, “Zeal for yoʋr house will consume me.”
ⲓ̅ⲍ̅ⲁⲩⲣ̅ⲡⲙⲉⲉⲩⲉ ⲛ̅ϭⲓⲛⲉϥⲙⲁⲑⲏⲧⲏⲥ ϫⲉ ϥⲥⲏϩ ϫⲉ ⲡⲕⲱϩ ⲙ̅ⲡⲉⲕⲏⲉ͡ⲓ ⲛⲁⲟⲩⲟⲙⲛ̅ⲧ.
18 In response the Jews said to him, “What sign can yoʋ show us to prove yoʋr authority to do these things?”
ⲓ̅ⲏ̅ⲁⲛⲓ̈ⲟⲩⲇⲁⲓ̈ ϭⲉ ⲟⲩⲱϣⲃ̅ ⲡⲉϫⲁⲩ ⲛⲁϥ. ϫⲉ ⲟⲩ ⲙ̅ⲙⲁⲉⲓⲛ ⲡⲉⲧⲕ̅ⲧⲥⲁⲃⲟ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟⲛ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ϫⲉ ⲕⲉ͡ⲓⲣⲉ ⲛⲛⲁⲓ̈.
19 Jesus answered them, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.”
ⲓ̅ⲑ̅ⲁⲓ̅ⲥ̅ ⲟⲩⲱϣⲃ̅ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲛⲁⲩ. ϫⲉ ⲃⲱⲗ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲙ̅ⲡⲉⲓ̈ⲣ̅ⲡⲉ ⲁⲩⲱ ϯⲛⲁⲧⲟⲩⲛⲟⲥϥ̅ ⲛ̅ϣⲟⲙⲛ̅ⲧ ⲛ̅ϩⲟⲟⲩ.
20 The Jews said, “It has taken forty-six years to build this temple, and will yoʋ raise it up in three days?”
ⲕ̅ⲡⲉϫⲁⲩ ϭⲉ ⲛ̅ϭⲓⲛ̅ⲓ̈ⲟⲩⲇⲁⲓ̈. ϫⲉ ⲁⲩⲣ̅ϩⲙⲉⲧⲁⲥⲉ ⲣ̅ⲣⲟⲙⲡⲉ ⲉⲩⲕⲱⲧ ⲙ̅ⲡⲉⲓ̈ⲣ̅ⲡⲉ. ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛ̅ⲧⲟⲕ ⲕⲛⲁⲧⲟⲩⲛⲟⲥϥ̅ ⲛ̅ϣⲟⲙⲛ̅ⲧ ⲛ̅ϩⲟⲟⲩ.
21 But he was speaking about the temple of his body.
ⲕ̅ⲁ̅ⲛ̅ⲧⲟϥ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲉϥϫⲱ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟⲥ ⲉⲧⲃⲉⲡⲉⲣⲡⲉ ⲙ̅ⲡⲉϥⲥⲱⲙⲁ.
22 So when he was raised from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this, and they believed the Scripture and the word that Jesus had spoken.
ⲕ̅ⲃ̅ⲛ̅ⲧⲉⲣⲉϥⲧⲱⲟⲩⲛϥ̅ ϭⲉ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛ̅ⲛⲉⲧⲙⲟⲟⲩⲧ. ⲁⲩⲣ̅ⲡⲙⲉⲉⲩⲉ ⲛ̅ϭⲓⲛⲉϥⲙⲁⲑⲏⲧⲏⲥ ϫⲉ ⲡⲁⲓ̈ ⲡⲉ ⲛⲉϥϫⲱ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟϥ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁⲩⲡⲓⲥⲧⲉⲩⲉ ⲉⲧⲉⲅⲣⲁⲫⲏ ⲛⲙ̅ⲡϣⲁϫⲉ ⲉⲛⲧⲁⲓ̅ⲥ̅ ϫⲟⲟϥ.
23 While Jesus was in Jerusalem during the feast of the Passover, many believed in his name because they saw the signs he was doing.
ⲕ̅ⲅ̅ⲉϥϣⲟⲟⲡ ⲇⲉ ϩⲣⲁⲓ̈ ϩⲛ̅ⲑⲓⲉⲣⲟⲩⲥⲁⲗⲏⲙ ⲙ̅ⲡϣⲁ ⲙⲡ̅ⲡⲁⲥⲭⲁ. ⲁⲩⲙⲏⲏϣⲉ ⲡⲓⲥⲧⲉⲩⲉ ⲉⲡⲉϥⲣⲁⲛ ⲉⲩⲛⲁⲩ ⲉⲙⲙⲁⲓ̈ⲛ ⲉⲛⲉϥⲉ͡ⲓⲣⲉ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟⲟⲩ.
24 But Jesus did not entrust himself to them, for he knew all men.
ⲕ̅ⲇ̅ⲛ̅ⲧⲟϥ ⲇⲉ ⲓ̅ⲥ̅ ⲛⲉϥⲧⲁⲛϩⲟⲩⲧ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟϥ ⲁⲛ ⲛⲙ̅ⲙⲁⲩ ⲉⲧⲃⲉϫⲉ ⲛⲉϥⲥⲟⲟⲩⲛ ⲛ̅ⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⲛⲓⲙ
25 He did not need anyone to testify about man, for he himself knew what was in man.
