< Galatians 5 >

1 Stand fast therefore in the freedom for which Christ has set us free, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.
Stand fast, and be not held again under the yoke of bondage.
2 Behold, I, Paul, say to you that if you let yourselves be circumcised, Christ will be of no benefit to you.
Behold, I Paul tell you, that if you be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing.
3 I testify again to every man who lets himself be circumcised that he is obligated to keep the entire law.
And I testify again to every man circumcising himself, that he is a debtor to the whole law.
4 You who are seeking to be justified by the law are alienated from Christ; you have fallen away from grace.
You are made void of Christ, you who are justified in the law: you are fallen from grace.
5 For through the Spirit, by faith, we eagerly await the hope of righteousness.
For we in spirit, by faith, wait for the hope of justice.
6 For in Christ Jesus neither does circumcision have any significance, nor uncircumcision, but what matters is faith working through love.
For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision: but faith that worketh by charity.
7 You were running well. Who hindered you from obeying the truth?
You did run well, who hath hindered you, that you should not obey the truth?
8 This persuasion does not come from him who calls you.
This persuasion is not from him that calleth you.
9 A little leaven leavens the whole lump.
A little leaven corrupteth the whole lump.
10 I have confidence in you in the Lord that you will adopt no other mindset. But the one who is troubling you will bear his judgment, whoever he may be.
I have confidence in you in the Lord: that you will not be of another mind: but he that troubleth you, shall bear the judgment, whosoever he be.
11 Now, brothers, if I am still preaching circumcision, why am I still being persecuted? In that case the offense of the cross has been done away with.
And I, brethren, if I yet preach circumcision, why do I yet suffer persecution? Then is the scandal of the cross made void.
12 Oh that those who are unsettling you would cut themselves off!
I would they were even cut off, who trouble you.
13 You were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but serve one another in love.
For you, brethren, have been called unto liberty: only make not liberty an occasion to the flesh, but by charity of the spirit serve one another.
14 For the entire law is fulfilled in this one commandment: “Yoʋ shall love yoʋr neighbor as yoʋrself.”
For all the law is fulfilled in one word: Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
15 But if you bite and devour one another, watch out, or you will be consumed by one another.
But if you bite and devour one another; take heed you be not consumed one of another.
16 I say then, walk by the Spirit and you will certainly not gratify the desires of the flesh.
I say then, walk in the spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lusts of the flesh.
17 For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit desires what is contrary to the flesh. These are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the very things you want to do.
For the flesh lusteth against the spirit: and the spirit against the flesh; for these are contrary one to another: so that you do not the things that you would.
18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.
But if you are led by the spirit, you are not under the law.
19 Now the works of the flesh are obvious: adultery, fornication, impurity, sensuality,
Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are fornication, uncleanness, immodesty, luxury,
20 idolatry, sorcery, hostilities, quarrels, jealousies, fits of rage, selfish ambitions, dissensions, factions,
Idolatry, witchcrafts, enmities, contentions, emulations, wraths, quarrels, dissensions, sects,
21 envy, murder, drunkenness, revelries, and the like. I warn you, just as I warned you before, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
Envies, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like. Of the which I foretell you, as I have foretold to you, that they who do such things shall not obtain the kingdom of God.
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
But the fruit of the Spirit is, charity, joy, peace, patience, benignity, goodness, longanimity,
23 gentleness, and self-control; against such things there is no law.
Mildness, faith, modesty, continency, chastity. Against such there is no law.
24 Now those who belong to Christ have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
And they that are Christ’s, have crucified their flesh, with the vices and concupiscences.
25 Since we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit.
If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
26 Let us not become conceited, provoking one another and envying one another.
Let us not be made desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying on another.
