Acts 27
1 When it was decided that we would sail to Italy, they transferred Paul and some other prisoners to a centurion named Julius, of the Augustan Cohort.
Y cuando se tomó la decisión de ir por mar a Italia, dieron a Paulo y otros presos al cuidado de un centurión llamado Julio, de la compañía de Augusta.
2 We got on board a ship of Adramyttium and put out to sea, intending to sail by the ports along the coast of Asia. With us was Aristarchus, a Macedonian of Thessalonica.
Y nos fuimos al mar en un barco de Adramitena que navegaba hacia los puertos de Asia, Aristarco, un macedonio de Tesalónica, que estaba con nosotros.
3 The next day we put in at Sidon, and Julius treated Paul kindly, allowing him to go to his friends and receive care.
Y el día después, llegamos a Sidón; y Julio fue amable con Pablo y lo dejó ir a ver a sus amigos y descansar.
4 From there we put out to sea and sailed under the lee of Cyprus, because the winds were against us.
Y navegando de nuevo desde allí, continuamos protegidos del viento por la isla de Chipre, porque el viento estaba contra nosotros.
5 After sailing across the open sea off Cilicia and Pamphylia, we arrived at Myra of Lycia.
Y atravesando el mar frente a Cilicia y Panfilia, llegamos a Mira, en Licia.
6 There the centurion found an Alexandrian ship that was sailing to Italy and put us on board.
Y allí el centurión se cruzó con un barco de Alejandría, navegando hacia Italia, y nos metió en él.
7 We sailed along slowly for many days and arrived with difficulty off Cnidus. When the wind did not allow us to hold our course, we sailed under the lee of Crete off Salmone.
Y cuando habíamos progresado lentamente durante un largo tiempo y habíamos tenido que esforzarnos para llegar hasta Gnido, porque el viento soplaba contra nosotros, dando la vuelta a la isla de Creta, en dirección a Salmone;
8 Sailing along the coast with difficulty, we came to a place called Fair Havens, which was near the city of Lasea.
Y navegando por el costado de ella, lo mejor que pudimos, llegamos a un lugar llamado Buenos Puertos, cerca del cual estaba la ciudad de Lasea.
9 Since much time had been lost and the voyage had now become dangerous because the Fast was already over, Paul advised the ship's officers,
Y como había pasado mucho tiempo, y el viaje estaba ahora lleno de peligro, porque era tarde en el año, por haber pasado ya el ayuno, Pablo les aconsejaba,
10 “Men, I perceive that this voyage is going to result in damage and great loss, not only of the cargo and of the ship, but also of our lives.”
Diciendo: Amigos, veo que este viaje será de gran daño y pérdida, no solo para los bienes y el barco, sino para nuestras vidas.
11 But the centurion was persuaded by the ship's captain and the shipowner rather than by what Paul said.
Pero el centurión prestó más atención al amo y al dueño de la nave que a lo que Pablo dijo.
12 Because the harbor was not a suitable place for spending the winter, the majority made a decision to set sail from there also, hoping to somehow reach Phoenix, a harbor of Crete facing southwest and northwest, so that we could spend the winter there.
Y como el puerto no era bueno para pasar el invierno, la mayoría de ellos acordó para salir al mar, para poder, si era posible, pasar el invierno en Fenice, un puerto de Creta, mirando hacia el noreste y el sureste y pasar ahí el invierno.
13 When a south wind started blowing gently, they thought that the opportunity had come for them to carry out their plan. So they weighed anchor and sailed closely along the shore of Crete.
Y cuando el viento del sur bajó suavemente, creyendo que su propósito podría ser efectuado, dejaron ir el barco y navegaron por el lado de Creta, muy cerca de la tierra.
14 But before long, a hurricane-force wind called Euroclydon swept down from the island.
Pero después de un poco de tiempo, un viento tempestuoso azotó el barco con gran fuerza, llamado viento del noroeste.
15 When the ship was caught by the storm and could not head into the wind, we gave way to it and were driven along.
Y arrastró la nave, y no podíamos mantener el barco de cara al viento, nos dimos por vencidos y nos dejamos llevar por el viento.
16 Running under the lee of a small island called Clauda, we were able with difficulty to secure the skiff.
Y navegando cerca del lado de una pequeña isla llamada Clauda, pudimos, aunque fue un trabajo duro, pudimos recoger el bote salvavidas:
17 After hoisting it up, the sailors used supports to undergird the ship. Then, fearing they might run aground on the Syrtis, they lowered the gear, and in this manner the ship was driven along.
Y al levantarla, pusieron cuerdas alrededor para reforzar el bote; pero temiendo que pudieran ser empujados y encallar en los bancos de arena el Sirti, bajaron el ancla flotante y se dejaron llevar por el viento.
18 The next day, because we were being severely battered by the storm, the sailors began throwing the cargo overboard.
Y, aún luchando contra la tormenta con todas nuestras fuerzas, el día después de que empezaron a sacar los productos del barco;
19 On the third day we threw the ship's tackle overboard with our own hands.
Y al tercer día, con nuestras propias manos arrojamos todos los aparatos de navegación.
20 When neither sun nor stars appeared for many days, and the violent storm continued to rage, all hope that we might be saved was lost.
Y como no habíamos visto el sol o las estrellas por mucho tiempo, y una gran tormenta estaba sobre nosotros, toda esperanza de salvación había desaparecido.
21 Since there had been little desire to eat, Paul stood up among them and said, “Men, you should have listened to my advice not to set sail from Crete; then you would have spared yourselves this damage and loss.
Y cuando habían estado sin comida por mucho tiempo, Pablo se levantó entre ellos y dijo: Amigos, hubiera sido mejor que me hubiesen prestado atención y que no salieran de Creta para sufrir este daño y pérdida.
22 But now I advise you to be of good cheer, for there will be no loss of life among you, but only of the ship.
Pero ahora, les exhorto que se animen, porque no habrá pérdida de vidas, sino solo de la nave.
23 For this very night an angel of the God to whom I belong and whom I serve stood beside me
Porque esta noche vino a mi lado un ángel del Dios a quien pertenezco y del que soy siervo,
24 and said, ‘Do not be afraid, Paul; yoʋ must stand before Caesar. And behold, God has granted yoʋ the safety of all who are sailing with yoʋ.’
Diciendo: No temas, Pablo, porque vendrás delante del César, y Dios te habrá dado a todos los que navegan contigo.
25 Therefore be of good cheer, men, for I have faith in God that it will happen just as I have been told.
Y entonces, oh hombres, tengan ánimo, porque tengo fe en Dios, que será como él me dijo.
26 But we must run aground on some island.”
Pero seremos arrojados a cierta isla.
27 When the fourteenth night had come, as we were being driven across the Adriatic Sea, about midnight the sailors suspected that they were approaching some land.
Pero cuando llegó el día catorce, mientras íbamos aquí y allá en el mar Adriático, hacia la mitad de la noche, los marineros tenían una idea de que se acercaban a la tierra;
28 So they took a sounding and found it to be twenty fathoms. After going a little farther, they took another sounding and found it to be fifteen fathoms.
Y echando la sonda, y vieron que el mar tenía treinta y seis metros de profundidad; y después de un poco de tiempo lo hicieron de nuevo y tenía veintisiete metros.
29 Fearing that we might run aground on the rocks, they let down four anchors from the stern and prayed for daybreak to come.
Entonces, temiendo que por casualidad pudiéramos llegar a las rocas, bajaron cuatro anclas de la parte trasera del barco e hicieron oraciones para que amaneciera.
30 Then the sailors tried to escape from the ship by lowering the skiff into the sea under the pretense that they were going to lay out anchors from the bow.
Luego los marineros hicieron intentos en secreto para alejarse del barco, bajando un bote como si estuvieran a punto de poner las anclas de la parte delantera del barco;
31 So Paul said to the centurion and the soldiers, “If these men do not remain in the ship you cannot be saved.”
Pero Pablo dijo al centurión y a sus hombres: Si no guardas a estos hombres en el barco, ustedes no podrán salvarse.
32 Then the soldiers cut away the ropes of the skiff and let it drift away.
Entonces los hombres armados, cortando las cuerdas del bote, la dejaron ir.
33 When daybreak was about to come, Paul encouraged them all to take some food, saying, “Today is the fourteenth day that you have continued in suspense without eating, having taken nothing.
Y cuando amanecía, Pablo animaba a todos para que comieran, y dijo: Este es el día catorce que has estado esperando a ver que pasa, y en ayuno.
34 Therefore I urge you to take some food, for this is important for your survival, since not a hair will fall from the head of any one of you.”
Así que te pido que tomes comida; porque esto es para tu salvación: ningún cabello de la cabeza de ninguno de ustedes perecerá.
35 After saying this, Paul took some bread and gave thanks to God in the presence of them all. Then he broke it and began to eat.
Y habiendo dicho esto, tomó pan, y alabó a Dios delante de todos, y comió del pan partido.
36 They were all encouraged and took food themselves.
Entonces todos se animaron e hicieron lo mismo.
37 (Altogether there were two hundred seventy-six of us on the ship.)
Y nosotros estábamos, en la nave, doscientas setenta y seis personas.
38 When they had eaten their fill of food, they began to lighten the ship by throwing the wheat out into the sea.
Y cuando tuvieron suficiente comida, redujeron el peso de la nave, echando el grano en el mar.
39 When daybreak came, the sailors did not recognize the land. But they noticed a bay with a beach and decided that, if possible, they would run the ship ashore there.
Y cuando fue de día, no reconocían la tierra, pero vieron una bahía que tenía playa de arena, y tenían la idea de conducir la nave hacia ella si era posible.
40 So they cut away the anchors and left them in the sea, at the same time loosening the bands of the rudders. Then they hoisted the foresail up into the blowing wind and made for the beach.
Entonces, cortando las anclas, y las abandonaron en el mar, y aflojaron los remos que servían para guiar él barco, y levantando la vela hacia el viento, se dirigieron en dirección a la entrada.
41 But they struck a sandbar and ran the ship aground. The bow stuck fast and remained immovable, and the stern was being broken apart by the force of the waves.
Y llegando a un punto entre dos mares, a un banco de arena, el barco encalló; y la parte delantera se fijó en la arena y no se podía mover, pero la parte trasera se rompió por la fuerza de las olas.
42 The soldiers' plan was to kill the prisoners, so that none of them would swim away and escape.
Entonces los hombres armados acordaron matar a los prisioneros, para que nadie saliera nadando.
43 But the centurion, wishing to save Paul's life, kept them from carrying out their plan. So he ordered those who could swim to jump overboard first and get to land,
Pero el capitán, deseoso de mantener a Pablo a salvo, los mantuvo alejados de su propósito, y dio órdenes para que aquellos que sabían nadar se fueran del barco y llegar primero a tierra:
44 and the rest were to follow, some on planks and some on pieces of the ship. And so it was that they were all brought safely to land.
Y el resto, algunos en tablas y otros en cosas del barco. Y así sucedió que todos se salvaron.
